Owner Pose
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie has come down to China town looking for a few things. The young man does seem a bit out of place, but he is polite to those he talks to, and his movements show while China town maybe new to him, he has gotten used to bigger cities it seems.
Vitali Chinatown. It's a place that Vitali has become rather familiar with. He walks the streets of it often, and today is no exception to that. He's dressed comfortably -- a pair of black steel-toed boots, dark blue jeans, and a light grey turtleneck that has long sleeves. It's out of place, perhaps, given the season, yet it's what he's chosen for the day. His long black hair is caught at the nape of his neck, braided neatly, the tail of it moving back and forth with his steps.

His arms rest lightly at his sides, and upon his left shoulder sits an eagle, without hood or traces, calm as can be. She clicks her beak and tilts her head to one side before snapping her beak closed on a stray lock of Vitali's hair. He glances towards the raptor and can't help but to chuckle to himself. "Always, da?" he says quietly, the words for the bird's benefit. The path of his steps takes him towards a vendor of steamed buns with a cart set up a short distance off the sidewalk.
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie stops at one of the shops, next to the food vender. Unlike most people who come to this area to shop he is not looking at knock off bags, or tourist things. No Sam has stopped at a place that seems to sell actual items from China and other parts of Asia. He picks up a small statue and looks it over.
Vitali Lifting his left hand, Vitali lightly brushes the back of his fingers along the eagle's feathered chest. He lets her keep that lock of his hair trapped in her beak -- it's something that happens multiple times a day. He gets in line at the steamed bun vendor, to wait his turn to be served. While he waits, he looks over to the other nearby vendors, and he spies the fellow at the statuette vendor. "The vendor, he is the carver, da? If you wish something specific, then he can make it if you ask," Vitali offers. Unsolicited advice, but he provides it all the same. His words have a definite Russian accent to them, but his English is a lot better than it used to be.
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie 's brow raises a bit at the accent at least finding it here. He looks over to the man <Interesting, Ah may have to see how long it takes to make one.> He says in a bit sluggish Russian, something he knows but not mastered. His own accent is southern. To the vender, he will ask "How long would it take you to make a chess set, if I may ask,"
Vitali There's a flicker of surprise in his dark eyes as Russian is used to respond to him, and Vitali can't help but to grin at it. <It depends on the piece you ask for, and how detailed you wish it to be. More details and a bigger piece will take longer,> Vitali replies. He takes care not to speak too quickly -- it's his native language, but he realizes it's not for the other man. He glances towards the vendor, then back to the young man. He steps out of line and then moves over towards the statuette vendor's stall.

The vendor considers the question for a couple of moments and then replies with: "Two weeks, perhaps less."
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie looks over to the vender and says "Do you have an email, I could talk with you and work out some details? The man's soon comes up and offers to help getting the info transferred." He looks over to Vit, and says "Time and size right?" He asks the other man "I have a few friends who are Russian, but sadly it is not my best language," He explains in english.
Vitali The Siberian looks to the vendor for a moment, watching as the man's son comes up to help with the communication process. He is quiet while they speak, and then his attention returns to the other man. Lifting his left hand, he brings his fingers to the lock of his hair and easily frees it from the eagle's beak. She ruffles her feathers briefly and clicks her beak, once. "Da, mostly. A bigger piece with more details will take longer. Time and size, they are related, with such works," Vitali says, giving a nod. He looks to the eagle, who looks to him in turn, and there seems to be some sense of communication there. He offers his right hand out, after a moment. "I am Vitali Svyatoslav. Russian, it is the language I grew up in. English was bad, but better now," he comments, a smile coming to his features.
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie nods, and offers his hand to the other man "Sam Guthrie, southern but transplanted up this way quite a bit of my life." He admits. He looks over to the eagle, and says "Interesting companion you have, have a couple friends who will wish they were here to meet you and your friend.
Vitali Vitali gives a small nod as he shakes the man's hand with a firm grip. Not crushing, but solid -- he's no stranger to physical labours. "It is good to know you, Sam," he says. The eagle seems to perk up a bit when she's mentioned, and she tilts her head to one side before turning her head just so to peer at Sam. Her beak clicks once, and it seems a coordinated thing between them that Vitali extends his left arm and she walks down it at the same time. "She is Soraya. She is from my home. Very far away," Vitali says in a thoughtful tone. "You can touch her. She will not bite," he offers with a smile. He doesn't look to the eagle, but she bobs her head in a sort of nod to agree with his words, it seems. "Maybe friends be met another time, da?" he suggests.
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie nods his head and will reach a hand up to rub a finger over the bird's breast in a petting motion "A pleasure to meet you both Vitali, and Soraya." He says to the man and his bird. His own hand not as calloused as it may have been in the past, but he does use his hands still. "It is possible you frequent this area often?"
Vitali Soraya leans into the petting a little bit and lightly fluffs up her feathers, a sign of being relaxed and at ease. She has every reason to be, and she remains standing on his forearm. Vitali watches her for a moment, and he keeps his left arm held so that his forearm is parallel to the ground. If he has any kind of layer underneath his clothing to protect him from her talons then it isn't obvious. He lifts his right hand and lightly traces a fingertip along the curve of Soraya's beak, and then he gives a nod to Sam's question. "Da. I am here many days, many nights. I walk the streets, very often," he answers. This part of the city is where he's spent the most time since coming to the United States.
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie 's brow raises a bit and says "If it is not intruding to much, may I ask, what brought you to America?" He looks a bit of concern showing on the man's face.
Vitali There's a bit of a frown that finds the corners of Vitali's lips, and his brow wrinkles a touch at the question. He hadn't been expecting that question to be asked. Soraya makes a soft sound, and she gently catches one of the fingers of his right hand in her beak, her wings half spreading as she does. His gaze falls to her, and for a moment he's quiet before he gives a small shake of his head. "Is not intruding, to ask," Vitali says softly. Gently, he frees his fingers, and then he lightly holds her beak for a moment before he releases it.

"It will sound strange. The Spirits gave me a dream, many times. Night after night. If I did not leave, if I did not come to here, then all in my village would die. Blood, everywhere. People. Animals. Everything," he says in a softer tone. Soraya ducks her head a little bit, rubbing her cheek against part of his hand and leaning a little into his hand.
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie hmms a bit and nods his head a bit to this and says "Omens can be be hard, but they need to be at least prepared for sometimes fought, but if you can not fight them heeding them can be the best choice." He admits "So, have you been able to find a place you fit in here? You speaks of walking the streets often, as if your still seeking to make a place for yourself here.
Vitali "Sometimes, Spirit Dreams have pieces of what is to come. Sometimes, shadows of the past. Always something important in them," Vitali says softly, lifting one of his shoulders in a faint shrug. "The dream, it does not show what happens. Just what was done," he adds, then gives his head a small shake. An unknown thing that leaves the village awash in blood. That's not something he could fight, and the dream had become more insistent when he had tried to put off leaving his home.

"I have had the Spirit Dreams before, and will have them again. I do what I can," he says, giving a small nod. He move shis right hand, lightly stroking Soraya along her back. "I share a place, with a friend. He and I often walk the streets together, to keep them safe. Safer. Fight the bad things, help people. Sometimes, it takes magic to help," he explains. He should perhaps not be as upfront about that as he is but -- in his home, he's a shaman, and magic has been a part of him for a lot of years.
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie hmms and nods a bit and says "Ah know a few folks who know a bit about magic, Ah might be able to introduce you to some folks who might be of help. It is good to hear of someone protecting the area, but do not forget you need to make sure you and Soraya are ok. If your ever looking for a job." He pulls a card out that says "club Evolution."
Vitali "I would be willing to meet others who know magic, and those who do not have it," Vitali says, giving a small nod. "In my village, many did not have it. It is in my family," he adds. He gives Soraya another stroke along her back, and then he smoothly lifts his arm, and at the same time as his arm reaches its highest point, Soraya spreads her wings and jumps from it in order to take flight. She wings in a circle as she gains altitude, and she gives a shriek as she climbs higher. He looks up to her for a moment, and then his attention returns to Sam.

"Da. It is important to be safe. To be healthy and fed, to have shelter," he says. He's quiet for a moment, and there's a touch of amusement that finds his eyes. "Water is easy," he says softly. Lifting his right hand, he makes a slight motion with his fingers and droplets of water seem to form out of the air itself, gathering into a roughly baseball sized sphere that hovers above his hand, liquidy and slightly shimmering. He moves his hand away from the ball of water, leaving it hovering in the air, and he reaches out to accept the card that's offered. One of his eyebrows quirks up. "What kind of job?" he asks, curious. He's never actually had a regular sort of job with a paycheque.
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie looks to the man and says "Well first and easiest place I offer jobs is bussing tables, depending on how you do and what you show talent at there are other possibilities. He does not seem weirded at the water "It is a club in mutant town so people with abilities are common. You may make a good dish washer he jokes.
Vitali The Siberian man tilts his head slightly to one side, a flicker of curiosity showing in his eyes. "Bussing tables...? I have heard others speak of this. It means clearing them, da? Taking away the dishes?" he asks. There are some uses for words that he's not entirely certain of. "I am not sure where my... talents, as you call them, might fit. I do not know the technologies. Computers. Cell phones. These things. I do not use them," he says. Even the words for them are spoken careful, and with some measure of unfamiliarity. They don't really exist in his home, so he's had very limited exposure to them. He tucks the card into a back pocket of his jeans. A small gesture of his right hand causes the sphere of water to immediately dissipate back into the air from whence it had come. He quirks a grin at the joke, then lifts one of his shoulders in a bit of a shrug. "Maybe. Until the magic is all used, for the day," he comments with a bit of amusement.
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie nods, a bit to this and says "Yes cleaning them it is one of the easier jobs, and does not take a lot of knowledge about things, but if your interested in others we might be able to help you. Also, I know someone who maybe will to help teach you of techno things in exchange for teaching him some magic if yours is not the stuff he already knows.
Vitali "To have things clean is important, da," Vitali affirms, giving a small nod. "I will come by, visit. To see the space. There are many things here that are not familiar, yet. Maybe I can learn of the technology. I do not know, I have not tried, before. It is different and strange," he says. He tilts his head slightly to one side, and then he gives a small nod. "I have other magics. Maybe your someone will wish to learn other things, da? I can try to teach it, if it is in him," he adds, his tone thoughtful. He's quiet for a moment and seems to be listening to something that only he hears. Then his attention focuses on Sam again, and he gives a nod. "It has been good to meet you. I must go. I will visit, in two nights' time," he says, a smile coming to his features.
Samuel Guthrie Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Walk well, and when you come by ask for me or if I am not there then Kit if he is there."
