Owner Pose
Luke Cage It's Nine o'Clock on a Saturday

The regular crowd shuffles in

There's an old man sittin' next to me

Makin' love to his tonic and gin

Only it's a Tuesday and the bar fly is actually drinking a cheap beer because it's $1 Cheap Bear Night. For reals.

Luke stands behind the bar, tending it and sharing casual conversation with the various regulars who come and go. All in all? Just a regular Tuesday evening.
Sarah Connor Thank god it's Tuesday - she only has one job today. At the diner, which she still was boggled that she quit, and somehow was still on the schedule. More so she accepted the other job on weekends for better pay. What the fuck?!?

Tonight, she was roaming around Harlem, with nothing jumping out at her.

Her pickup truck managed to steal the primo parking spot on the block. (What are the odds on that? Nearly zero!) And putting on her back holster, along with jeans, a crew neck t-shirt, and her jacket, she wandered into Luke's, and hoisted herself at the bar. Making sure she could see the door and other exits via the mirrors *here* and *here* and *here*.

"Whatever's on tap."
Luke Cage Luke Cage was the sort of owner and bar tending philospher who knows his locals and when someone new comes in. He looks curiously at the woman and offers her a welcoming nod. "Evening. Welcome to my place. What's your pleasure?"
Sarah Connor Sitting at her barstool at an angle, seeing that there were no mirrors (?!), she cocked an eyebrow at the man behind the bar. "Just a beer. Something on tap. Unless that was your way of telling that you don't have anything on tap."

Which he could have run out, or, god forbid, they didn't have on tap as an option.

Looking around there was the usual crowd for a Tuesday. Which is to say not many.
Luke Cage Luke Cage chuckles. "I've got plenty on tap. It's also $1 bottles night. It's cheap but it does the trick usually." He shrugs, "Got a few good local micro breweries." He goes to get a pint glass since she did say on tap. If she wants cheap beer she can always change it up. He pulls a pint for her and brings it back. "Have to respect a brewery that calls itself the Fuzzy Yak" he says with an easy smile.
Sarah Connor "One will be enough, thanks." If.

Sarah could not keep a zealous eye for terminators if she was drunk!

"Let me guess - you're Luke? Nice place." She smirked as he talked about the brewery. "Better than yak borroso. Any day. Trust me."
Luke Cage Luke Cage nods, "One it is. And I am at that" he says with a smile. "Thanks. Not the flashiest of places. But it keeps me off the streets and out of the house. Lets me keep up with the neighborhood. None of which are bad things."
Sarah Connor Sarah takes a look around again. "Doesn't look tOo bad for where I'm sitting." She shrugs. "Too many bars run the course of franchises. Everyone wants to be seen there, but nobody knows your name."

Did she make a joke?

Taking her pint she sips a bit, putting it down on a coaster.
Luke Cage Luke Cage nods. "Well thank you for that. It's been here a long time. When it went up for sale a few years ago it just felt like a good way to keep stability in the neighborhood. I know my regulars." He offers her a wink then moves down the bar to close out another customer's tab. Then he pulls the caps off a couple of the cheap beer bottles - bare handed. Setting the bottles on the bar for another customer. Grabbing the bar towel he wipes down the bartop. "Anything in particular bring you in tonight?"
Sarah Connor Sarah played with her drink, making it seem she was more interested in it than she actually was. "Me? No. Just, I was in the neighbourhood, and I felt for a beer. It's actually calmer than I would have thought."
Luke Cage Luke Cage nods, "Well lucky for you, we happen to have beer." He glances, "Even if you're not one to touch much of it. You're welcome any time." He moves along to wait on another customer briefly.
Sarah Connor Watching him take care of customers, Sarah makes a quiet noise. "I don't drink much. But it's been my observation that bar owners don't like people sitting in their seats without having one. You know, you are one of the first that noticed that about me?"
Luke Cage Luke Cage glances over, "I try to take care of my customers. Even those who don't want to drink what they've ordered. You want a glass of water?" he asks it without any malice just an attempt to look after someone in his place.
Sarah Connor "Actually a water would be fine. Thanks." And with that, Sarah pushes the beer away from her, and stretches. "Is there always regulars here?" Again, she looks over the bar quickly, and back to Luke.
Luke Cage Luke Cage scoops some ice into a glass and fills it with filtered water. He sets the glass in front of the woman and nods. "We're a neighborhood bar. You're the first new face I've seen in a week. It's as close to Cheers as you're gonna get in Harlem." He's proud of that fact.

"Be right back." He turns and disappears in the back room. There are no staff working now in the front. It might seem awfully trusting to those unused to his methods.

He emerges from the back a few minutes later with a tray of freshly washed glasses. Setting the tray down he begins to dry and polish them before stacking them behind the bar ready for use.
Sarah Connor The fact that he does trust his clientele make Sarah wonder: is he stupid, or, does he actually have a rapport with the regulars. In which care, she was the odd man out. Which makes her feel more safe, even as she feels uncomfortable.

The time he takes in the back to being out here, she doesn't move.

"I remember Cheers." It was one of the tv programs she used to watch - back in the day. Before terminators took up her life. "Maybe that's why I like these hole in the wall bars."
Luke Cage Luke Cage nods. "It was a dumb show. But the idea was sound. I try to keep that sort of vibe in here. It's good for the burrough. No reason neighbors can't be friends whatever creed they follow. We all live here, may as well try to all get along. It makes a stronger community."
Sarah Connor "And I take it that is your warning to me?" Sarah takes a big drink of water, before putting it down. "Don't worry. I'm not looking for trouble."
Luke Cage Luke Cage arches a brow, "Warning? Lady I don't even know you. Why would I warn you? Till you cause a problem, you're not a problem to me. You're just another human being looking for a drink or bad bar tender conversation or philosophy. I don't mistrust anyone that doesn't give me a reason to." He shakes his head and goes back to polishing and drying the tray of glasses. With his large hands it is a bit more effort than most would have to invest.
Sarah Connor "Ah pardon." Sarah finishes off her water. "I'm used to people who are less trusting than you. It's a nice feeling you have here. I hope it stays that way. Keep the change."

She takes a bill out of her pocket, and lays it under the coaster.

"I hope I can come again." And off she goes.
Luke Cage Luke Cage shrugs, "The lack of trust is one of the problems in the world. All are friends till they prove otherwise." He then nods, "Well thank you." He rings up the drink and puts the payment in the till.

"You're welcome here any time we're open. Have a good night."
