Blackout     One block over, south of the Chrysler building is a 60 floor office building, quite non descript.. Rectangular, boring. ( https://i.imgur.com/Glf3itu.jpg ) But a great place to perch in the middle of a Thursday night. A stopping off point for someone in very dark, vanta-black armored clothing that looks like a super suit. He's standing on the ledge of the rectangular building. He doesn't wear a mask and he's holding a cell phone that's illuminating his uncovered face. He's standing, facing the Chrysler building, framing it in the camera phone. About to capture the shot of the beautiful illuminated silver top of the impressive building. When suddenly the wind kicks up, blows him a step off to his left, but also knocks his phone out of his hand. It is instantly flung off the side of the building. He reaches, misses, and the phone tumbles downward, carried outward by the wind, but destined to strike the ground unless someone were to catch it.
Gwen Stacy Sometimes when you're made to go to a corporate function and arrive the night before, you have to go swinging around. If you're the Awesometastic Ghost Spider, that is. Gwen slings through the steel canyons, singing to herself up where nobody can hear her.

"Spider-Gwen, Spider-Gwen, does whatever a ... Spider-Gwen! Doot doot do, doot doot do, look out, here come's the Ghost Spider!"

She needs to workshop it. Either way, she twists in midair, swinging an arm to throw another webline which lances out with a hearty *THWIP*, and she swings further. Only for a phone to fall right in front of her face. Being a Spider Person, her reflexes let her catch it. "Huh."

She wheels around, looking up, and starts to ascend in the swingingest way possible.

A moment later, the mostly white costumed shape of the Ghost Spider lands on the roof, calling out. "Uh. Someone drop this?"
Blackout     He watched as his phone fell, and fell, and fell.. His mind pondered the loss of 1500 bucks. Or whatever phones cost these days. Probably around 2000 after paying so much a month, interest, taxes, and all the fees. The stupid fees. It's a racket. But there goes his first paycheck in his new job. Off the side of the building and will shatter when it hits the .. No wait. Someone .. where.. did that girl just grab his phone? Is she one of the Spider-family? Surely he's not.. Oh, she's coming this way.

He turns to see her land stealthfully on the building and he raises his hand like some idiot hoping that she's not one of the venom-family versions of the spider rogues, "Yeah, that was me. I mean, it's mine. I dropped it. That was a pretty amazing catch."
Gwen Stacy "Another stunning victory for the Hella Awesome Ghost Spider," Gwen says, her smile audible. That mask is in the way for anything else, but boy does it look like the eyes move with her expressions, but that can't be, right?

She crosses the roof, holding the phone out. "If you're gonna take risky pictures, you might want one of those PopSocket things. Help you keep ahold of it."

She still sounds amused, but it isn't mean spirited. No, it's the amusement of someone who has dropped their phone from a similar height while swinging through Manhattan.
Blackout     He's still coming down from the adrenaline and anxiety of dropping his phone as she details her name and various suggestions for safety, maintenance, and loss prevention. He smiles as his eyes try to figure out the eyes of her mask all the while listening and noting her approach.

"You are 100 percent correct. I wasn't thinking. Most of the time that thing stays in my pocket. I should have tethered it or something." Then he pauses his rambling and straightens up. "I'm Marc. It's nice to meet you, 'Ghost Spider'. And thank you, again."
Gwen Stacy Gwen snorts, shaking her head. "Hey, you're not me. I dropped my phone swinging through Times Square once. That was embarrassing. This happens all the time and, hey, it was the smallest tragedy I've averted today. Notthat any of them were world shaking, though I guess for the people involved they were," she says with a shrug.

"Call me Ghost Spider, yeah. Secret Identity and all that. You know how it is. Or maybe you don't, I dunno."
Blackout     There's a brief chuckle to her relayed story, then he states about the secret ID stuff. "I had one, once. Blackout. Not that it was a thing. And it's not like I'm known as either. So meh. Nothing to keep secret. Though I totally understand others needs. Ghost Spider works just fine and I won't pry. But I am curious. Were you on your way to stop a criminal activity or just leaving some super battle that you won?"
Gwen Stacy "I'm in town for ... business. Weirdly not Super Business, just business," she says with a somehow audible eyeroll. "Some of us still have day jobs. I know, it seems weird, but have you -seen- the rent in New York?"

She shifts her feet a little, body language incredibly relaxed and casual. "Oh, jeez, you've got me confused with somebody else. My speed is usually a mugger, or, like, the Bodega Bandit. Maybe help out Spider-Man with the Rhino or something. Just a few muggings and attempted Gee Tee Ays today."
Blackout     There's a light grin to Marc's face as she explains the nature of her heroics. But then he flashes back and says, "I know all about day jobs. I'm a researcher. Physicist. So yeah, even super people have responsibilities. Except those Avengers. I'll bet all they do between adventures is sit around eating bon-bons on that pile of money they have."
Gwen Stacy "That sounds like Stark. Though the bon-bons are replaced with martinis and the pile of money is his latest fling," she says with a laugh. "That's cool, though. I dabble in science. Less physics more, uh, well, not physics. Don't want to say too much, you know?" Is it paranoia? Probably. Maybe. She still has family and absolutely does not need that smoke.

"Maybe I should try and join the Avengers. That'd be rad as hell," she says, tilting her head in thought. "Nah, that wouldn't work. ...The Justice League, though. Superman seems pretty cool."
Blackout     Marc nods along, amused with her commentary about Stark and the Avengers. He's never really encountered many of them. He's done little overt stuff in his life as they do. And its best that way. He maintains a low, dark profile.

Then he comments, "Superman seems very nice. Like, walk little old ladies across the street, nice. Though I've never met him. Just seen the glimpses of him on the news. I think though, it's got to be tough to be him. Heck, tough to be any sort of hero, even on your 'Bodega Bandit' stopping. Keeping up the secret ID. Keeping all the secrets and then of course dealing with the threats. I'm not sure I'd want the line of work the Avengers or the Justice League have. It seems really involved."
Gwen Stacy "It is involved," Gwen replies with a nod, folding her arms across her chest. "It's dangerous, kinda stupid and really makes things complicated." She shrugs. "Still the most fulfilling thing I've ever done in my life. I have these powers, so I have the responsibility to use them for the good of everyone. I don't think I could live with myself if I didn't. If people got hurt through my inaction."

She looks out over the city. "Superman is what we all should try to be. Selfless as hell. A paragon of mercy and restraint." She shakes her head, stepping towards the edge. "Speaking of selflessness, I'm sure someone's kitten is in a tree. A perfect job for this girl." Her smile is audible again. "Nice to meet you, Marc. Remember, PopSocket."

Then she just swan dives over the edge of the building, all grace and power. It seems like she's gone until she swings back into view, web-slinging her way around until she turns a corner and is gone.
Blackout     He watches her take the dive. He moves to the edge and tries to track her recovery and swing away. He grins and ponders the words she shared. Responsibility. Too many people not claiming it... she's right. But this isn't something he's going to act on today. Instead, he coats his phone in darkforce, makes a handle for it, resets the camera, frames the Chrysler building, and takes a picture. Then he opens a portal and steps away into the darkforce dimension.
