Nadia Pym It's taken a few months, which is honestly not all that long when you think about all the work involved, but thanks to a lot of money and hard work GIRL is finally close to ready for it's grand public unveiling!

Of course that means there are lots of /boring/ jobs to do now. Calibrating equipment. Making sure every office space has furniture. Actually assembling that furniture so it's not just room after room of unbuilt chairs & desks. Even little tasks like stocking the vending machines with beverages.

Normally Nadia wouldn't really bother with this kind of work. Trusting to her team to get all the tasks done. But sadly she has to start being at least a little responsible with Kate's money. And every dollar she can save on paying people to put chairs together is a dollar that could be used to teach math to GIRLs in places where education is restricted or flat out dangerous.

Also she tried training wasps to do it but they chewed a desk up to try make a nest....

"So how's things going with you lately Harper?" she wonders. "Is Gotham... you know.. pretty peaceful right now? Or is it as bad as the papers say?" Not that Nadia reads newspapers. Probably she has a news aggregator application that sorts things she might find exciting out of the sensation grabbing headlines that makes up a lot of the modern news cycle.
Harper Row Harper hasn't complained much about helping to set the place up. She's all about saving money and cutting corners if it means best bang for the buck. So she's pitched in, rolled up her sleeves and pant cuffs and has hauled around a few things to get her steps in and nose about.

In Harper's hands is a pack of drinks and snacks meant for one of the vending machines. Her OCD, plus time over a pie-chart, has resulted in a mix of soda and salted snacks that she assumes best accounts for the current personalities. From what was delivered at least. She needs both hands to haul it around and it gives her arms and shoulders quite a bit of definition.

"Gotham? I couldn't say about peaceful. City never seems to be able to get its act together for any stretch of time. Like some sort of, I dunno, its like a pool. You got chlorine or whatever to keep it balanced, and every so often you're gonna have to fish out a frog from the filter or leaves fallin in the damn thing you gotta scoop out. But there's always frogs, dogs, leaves and pH balances getting out of whack." She's shrug more effectively if her hands were free, so she offers a wry smirk and a snort. "At least it's not getting any worse. The Birds and the Bats won't be out of a job anytime soon is my prediction. Gotham is always in some sort of tug-o-war."

"Things look like they're almost ready here?"
Nadia Pym "I've never had any animals in my pool," Nadia points out. "There is no way, short of magic, for a frog to get into my lab. Unless I brought it with me.... Thankfully wasps don't really take baths or they'd have jumped in by now." She shrugs. "I do add something to stop bacteria growing though. And it helps to keep the wasps from drinking it. That's... well really the biggest worry for me."

She jumps up and down on the office chair she's just finished putting together. Keen to see if it'll fall apart. And then starts playing around with the adjustable height settings.

"New York seems pretty tame in comparison," she admits. "Although that Spider-Man guy seems.. suspicious. I hope Gwen's looking after herself around him! She says he's all right though. And that should be good enough for me." In spite of any other evidence to the contrary.

"Things here are very close to done," she says, beaming. "I've got to calibrate some of the equipment. Make sure we have options for every dietary need." Including engineer. Cold pizza and black coffee for the Harpers of the world. "And we could do with a test of the supervillain safety systems. Ideally from a reformed villain who won't stick to the superhero goody goody play book. Villains might try all kinds of nefarious tricks. And we need to pre-emptively protect ourselves against them!"
Harper Row "Supervillain safety systems?" Harper repeats, tasting the words as her mind tries to envision all sorts of weird stuff. Harper puts down the drinks and snacks and rubs at her jaw.

"Reformed villains, eh? Did you have some in mind that would be up for that kind of thing? How reformed?" The question keep stacking up as she eyes Nadia jumping up and down on a chair. Good stress test that.

"We've got bat-dudes in Gotham. They're a handful, and worse to date. I don't doubt spider-dudes come with some of the same issues, though probably less broody."
Nadia Pym "Yeah," Nadia says with a giggle. "In the event someone breaks in security doors close, everyone gets directed to safe evacuation zones, and any critical research gets taken offline. Encrypted so even if it's stolen it can't be used." She points around the room. "There are non-lethal deterrents too. A harmless fog fills the entire facility and it plays really loud noise. If you can't see anything or hear anything it makes it harder to steal anything."

She shakes her head. "No ideas at this point in time. For the reformed thief that is," she admits. "Worse to date? Did you date a superhero? Ooooo spill the details!"

"I'd be a little worried if I had spider powers and was dating someone else with spider powers. I don't know if it happens in the wild but in captivity female spiders eat the males after sex. The last thing you want after a hard days crime fighting is to get eaten by your date..."
Harper Row Harper openly cackles at that last bit. "It might solve a few problems though!" She raises her hands then to make some non-commital flapping motions. "You don't really meet anyone...well adjusted and easily outside of vigilantism. I mean, everyone's got some wild and woolly history, but how are you supposed to connect with Jill or Joe normie when you jump off roofs and foil crocodile dudes in sewers..." Harper considers. "Yeah, I've tried dating a few, but it's more like, stress relief from pals, y'know? No time for anything heavier than that. You'd think both fighting crime would make relationships work easier, right? Nah, more complicated still.. There's probably an equation out there to figure it out."

Harper grunts and stretches her back. "I guess we should be on the lookout for ex-villains we can half trust."
