Owner Pose
Vampirella Wonder Woman wants to go for a fall walk with Vampirella. Or Ella Normandy, as Diana thinks of her. This is, upon consideration, vexing: what do humans wear in the autumn? She's seen it, sure, but never really paid attention. The idea of all that fabric on the skin is just unpleasant. And she can't go out in a school outfit; that would just be weird.

Vampirella really shouldhave thought this through before saying yes to the woman on the other end of the phone. Well, it can't be helped now.

So, about a day's worth of research later and then another to shop, Vampirella shows up at the appointed time and place looking like possibly the furthest thing in the world from an elementary school teacher: a white, sleeveless Dazzler tee at least two sizes too big (one would be forgiven for thinking that she and Diana would wear it simultaneously while still leaving room for Jesus between them), a grey toque, and ink-black jeans with the knees missing. A thick flannel shirt is tied around her waist like a sash and her eyes are hidden behind comically round sunglasses. Gold glints from a few places on her arms and fingers.

She's still wearing her boots, though. She can at least do that much!
Diana Prince Diana Prince had not intended to be vexing. She had suggested it as a way to enjoy nature without getting entirely outside of the city. It was a location commonly known and frequented by New Yorkers. There were lovely little kiosks around the park where the vendors sell all manner of drinks and treats and the trees were still in the midst of changing color before they lose those leaves for their winter slumber.

Arriving at the agreed time, Diana spots the dark haired teacher and crosses the street to greet the woman.

"Ella.. Hello" Diana offers with a warm smile. She is dressed in a warm green pull-over hoodie zipped partway up. Under it is a gray tee. Blue mom-jeans cover her hips and legs though are no less flattering to her. They end over sensible hiking boots. Her hair has been left down and loose to spill about her shoulders.

"How are you today?"
Vampirella Both dressed like teenage boys, and Diana still looking incredible. Vampirella's lips quirk in a private smile as she steps into Diana and closes her arms around her for a brief but tight hug hello; she'd have gone in for a kiss as well (she's not American in, like, several different ways, so a kiss hello is normal for her) but for the height difference making it awkward. Not that awkward is necessarily bad, but...

Stepping back, she looks up at Diana and smiles more or less calmly. "Hi, Diana," she greets in her who-knows-where-she's-from accent. "I'm good, thanks. Excited to see you. What about you? Not nursing any injuries from saving the world or anything, are you?"
Diana Prince Diana Prince has her own sense of fashion. She dresses up daily in her role as an Ambassador. When she is off the clock she goes with what feels comfortable.

Drawing close, Diana returns the hug.

Laughing, she shakes her head as she takes a step back. "No injuries today. Thank the gods" she teases. "It is good to see you. I have been well, thank you. Busy - but that seems to be the usual for me."

Tucking her hands into her hoodie's pockets she turns to fall in beside Ella. Sparing a look to the skies she adds, "It's a little brisk but at least the sun is still peeking through."
Vampirella Vampirella keeps her hands free. You never know when you'll need them. As Diana falls in beside her, Vampirella takes the (figurative) lead easily, heading deeper into Central Park, keeping her peripherals open. She asks, "Are you bothered by the cold? I suppose I could check your Heropedia page to find out, but it seems rude."
Diana Prince Diana Prince smiles. "No, cold does not tend to bother me. But there is just something about feeling warm in a favorite hoodie or coat I suppose. And - if I actually have a heropedia page it probably has details that are not remotely true!" Her eyes flicker with amusement before she she offers back, "Nor for you from the look of it?"
Vampirella Vampirella smiles. "I'm just trying to look tough to impress you. And anyway, a good hat does a lot of the work of keeping you warm. A cap on the chimney, so to speak." Without changing her tone or pace of speech, she asks, "But you were saying something about being busy? Can you talk about what with?"
Diana Prince Diana Prince laughs again. "Looks are important but only a part of the portrait of a person." Waxing philosophical already.

"But yes a hat does help to keep warm."

Walking along comfortably beside Ella, her hands appear so as to gesture expressively, "A lot of it is the same as I told your students about when I visited. Meetings with staff and ambassadors of other nations. Dignitaries." She shakes her head, "So many meetings." With a gesture she interjects, "Would you like something to drink? Coffee? Hot cider?" The kiosk in question offers a broad selection of hot and cold beverages to choose from.

"There have been a lot of meetings, some hearings, about the fighting in Eastern Europe and the unrest in Central Africa. I continue to believe that solutions can be found." But human nature being what it is...

"How have your classes gone? I imagine having a break for Thanksgiving was a welcome respite?"
Vampirella Vampirella opens her mouth to answer about the drink, but the conversation moves back to Diana's day job before she can answer. She doesn't let it show, but she's fine with that: the less conversation about her diet to begin with, the better! So she nods along at the explanation about the meetings and hearings, and explains, "The break is nice to have. No planning to do (not that there's much of that in this country), no donuts to buy for the kids and no nite-time Benadryl to lace them with." She smirks a little. "So it's nice to have fewer expenses. Very exciting compared to your line of work!"
Diana Prince Diana Prince listens interestedly and laughs. "I should hope that you're not drugging the students.." the comment was taken as a joke just the same.

"The UN has out of session times. But the world does not stop just because its ambassadors are taking a break. So.. then I switch to my other occupation" she notes with a wry smile. "But it is what I was called to do. Lending aid is not always achieved peacefully." It's disappointing of course. "But that is no less true of mortals than it is of gods. Conflict seems to arise whereever there is intelligence and desire. A nation possesses resources another wants. One person desires that which another owns." A shrug. Conflict is eternal.

Slowing near the kiosk she returns to the aforementioned drinks. "Would you like something?" she offers, taking out a small wallet from her pocket to indicate she'll treat.
Vampirella Solicitously, her head cocked slightly toward her shoulder as if with interest mixed with a tad of concern, Vampirella asks, "Do you want one? I thought about saving until I was colder, but if you want one now, I couldn't let you drink alone." She shudders with horror at the terrible mental image she just spoke aloud: Diana, drinking alone? How dare! No just universe would allow it.
Diana Prince Diana Prince smiles, "I thought that the hot cider sounded delightful." She offers a casual shrug as if it weren't a huge thing. "We can wait" she concedes and gestures to keep walking for now. The various paths wind through the expansive park, some near the water, others feeling entirely lost in a forest but for the sounds of the city still audible around the edges.

"I have loved this park since I first came to Manhattan. So much variety of plants and animals. Plus the zoo.." her voice fades so as to avoid dominating the conversation.
Vampirella "We should go to the zoo, then," Vampirella decides, and starts walking in its direction. She's never been, but the smells are hard for a Vampiri to miss. "But you were saying something about conflict a moment ago. Does that apply to Paradise Island as well?"
Diana Prince Diana Prince smiles. "Alright" she agrees and gestures toward one of the paths. "It is this way." She falls into an easy pace. The wind rustles the trees sending a gaggle of leaves swirling across the path. The little dervish of leaves skitter merrily, the yellow and gold, red and orange colors mixing together.

Diana watches them with appreciation. Even in dormancy nature has beauty.

"Mmm? Yes. Well the Amazons are not immune to conflict. But we would like to believe we have come to understand how to mediate disagreements quickly and fairly."

As they near the small zoo's entrance she smiles again. "There are not a lot of animals given the space. But those they have are still magnificent."
Vampirella At the mention of quick and fair mediation, Vampirella's eyes slide sidelong and down to Diana's hip, where the lasso would hang (and might be hanging under her jeans, for all Vampirella knows), but the conversation rolls on again and that's fine. She smiles a little to herself as it goes on. "Do you have a favorite you like to see?" she asks as she taps her phone to pay their entry fee. Ella Normandy has a credit card, but boy did it take some work for her to get. Never mind, that's not a story to tell Wonder Woman.

In the back of her mind, she's starting to ask herself if she has any stories at all she can tell Wonder Woman.
Diana Prince Diana Prince does not, in fact, have a glowing golden lasso on her hip at the moment. The only hint to her Amazonian nature would be the brief flash of silver from the bracers she wears that occasionally peek from under the cuffs of her hoodie.

"Mmm.. they are all majestic in their own ways. I think the Snow Leopards are my favorite. For cuteness and playfulness? I adore the Red Pandas. But they have several species of Penguins and sea birds. Some seals and sea lions.. and a tropical house of more sensitive animals that do not handle cold well."
Vampirella Vampirella does her best to shake off the bleak mood that her thoughts want to pull over her, and focuses a little harder on listening to Diana. "Snow leopards are playful?" she paraphrases, her upturned syllable at the end making it a question. "In the cruel way cats are, or are they kinder?"

She doesn't know what snow leopards smell like, so her feet can't carry her to them, but that's a very small problem to have. They're bound to come across them sooner or later.
Diana Prince Diana Prince smiles, "Most creatures can be playful. But I meant the Red Pandas. Though even great cats and bears know how to follic it could be said."

"Nature is hard. But living is hard. Evolution has enabled us each face difficult choices to surprise has it not? Survival of the fitest is not a nurturing concept. But within it, can there not be nurture? A mother and her child. Be it human or otherwise?" She shakes her head, "I am sorry. I don't mean to take over the conversation."

"What animals are your favorites? Here or in general?" Let us suppose for a moment it is bats, Why? No reason.
Vampirella A minute expression of surprise flickers across Vampirella's eyes at the apology, and she takes a moment to think about the question, lips pursed, before deciding, "Horses. I was always a horse girl, though I never rode one. They were out of my family's way by the time I was old enough to ride one, and now, they're too rare to find. Artificially rare," she amends cynically, and shakes her head. "Well, never mind. Who needs a horse in this city anyway?"
Diana Prince Diana Prince listens and smiles. "Horses are also magnificent. We have them on the island." She frowns a little. "Artificially rare? Well yes within the city. But it is not so far outside of the city that you can find horse farms. Perhaps an hour at most" she guesses. She seems abashed at the confession Ella offered, "You have never gotten to ride?" She frowns. "That should be resolved sometime. Soon!"

Once beyond the gates, pathway leads along between a number of exhibits. There are sea lions and seals out sunning themselves on rocks in their enclosures with enrichment toys scattered about in the spaces.

"Seals are also quite playful. But as with most creatures they have very sharp teeth."
Vampirella Vampirella raises an amused eyebrow. "Are you telling me I need to be paying more attention to your teeth?"
Diana Prince Diana Prince comes to a stop and blinks curiously at Ella. "I.. no? I was speaking of animals rather than humans.." She sometimes struggles with idioms even still but she didn't think her comment had been unclear.

She shrugs after a moment and gestures toward one of the zoo signs. "The bears and leopards are that way if you'd like to see them?"
Vampirella "Not funny, huh? Let's go see if the bears and leopards can save me," Vampirella agrees equably, following Diana in the direction of her favorite animal.
Diana Prince Diana Prince smiles gently. "I am not offended, Ella. Only confused. That's part of getting to know someone, learning another's sense of humor or tendencies." With a nod, she begins walking again; the path winds along between enclosures with creative landscaping to make things feel more natural.

As they arrive at the snow leopard enclosure, it is largely steep and rcky to give the cats the sort of challenging terain they are accustomed to. It also means high fencing around the upper sections. Of the two cats in the exhibit, one is sunning itself as all cats seem to do. The other is prowling around the edges of the enclosure and bumping it's cheek and flank against rocks and tree, leaving its scent before. Which will probably get covered up when the other cat prowls itself.
