Rogue Rogue is cooking. Nothing big this time because she wants this to be a little more intimate than feeding the entire school. There's mashed potatoes with cream gravy, fried catfish, baked beans and cornbread. She's also made a new batch of sweet tea. There's a text to Logan to meet her in the kitchen because she's made them dinner (and there may be enough in case Charles comes around) but she's set the table for two, giving them both equal portions of everything and a glass of tea each.
Logan
Logan always gets a little extra excited for these meetings. Rogue is such a good cook and he feels spoiled when she cooks. Luckily she doesn't cook often. Except when he gets the texts abvout her cooking, as long as it's not dire or in some immediate need, Logan may literally drop everything he's doing. And so the Canaidan is -prompt- for the meal. And he will jsut be there waiting to see who joins them, if anyone does. "Darlin'. Can I help?" he will ask softly as he looks at her curious how this is going.
Rogue "Nope. Just sit and enjoy. It's already done and served." Rogue says as she motions to the table. Making sure all the burners are off, she then moves to sit at the table and join him. "I figured you've been missin' my cookin'...and I wanted catfish. Got it fresh from the market earlier today and they even deboned it for me..." Saying this much more as she takes a sip of her tea. "Got ta talk to the Professor again couple days ago. He asked how you were doin'... hopin' you weren't bein' too hard on yerself af'er talkin' with him."
Logan And there's the rub. Logan just poses for a moment. "I ain't. I'm just tryin' to figure it all out," he says softly, honestly. "I respect the professor. Can't say that about many. So, whe he says something like that n' it goes against what ya were thinkin'. It hits close to home, even if it didn't mean to," Logan will just begin to work on the catfish. He's okay, the word "coping" would be a good one. Like he's still not ready to accept the compliment itself. However, he accepts that it was said to him. So, that's progress. It's not a flatout denial.
Rogue Rogue nods a little, cutting off a piece of catfish to eat on for a moment. Then she smiles. "You know. Much as I appreciate the professor sort of sticking up for Jean and Scott. They still left. None of us know where they've gone off to. You're the one who stayed. When a lot of folk might have thought you'd of been the one to leave. You stayed. You've kept this place goin'... helped us hold our ground. That counts for something, Logan. I hope you know that. I'm proud of you." She takes a bite of potatoes. "And not just sayin' that cause I love you....but I do also love you." Winking at him before returning to her meal.
Logan A nod comes from Logan as he starts tow ork on the catfish. "You n' Chuck domesitcated me," it's more than that, but he won't o into those details. "thanks," he wills ay that and he smirks and will take another bite of catfish. And he'll have it with hot sauce just because.

Afterward he starts to work on the potatoes. "I don't say this enough, but I'm proud of ya. You've come a long way from the girl crushin' on Warren," he says just pointing out the womans he is versus who she was. "You've been more of a team player than ya think. I know some times ya wanted to bolt. Ya stayed. taht takes commitment. Not everyone ahs that," he's just giving honesty right back to her.
Rogue Rogue nods. "We've both grown. And I think it's got a lot to do with our personal growth, but I don't think that really started until we got together. Like the Professor said. We're good for each other... it just works somehow. I'm glad you're the one I ended up with. For a lot of reasons." She smiles at him and then grabs some of his hot sauce to put on her own fish, but also adding a little to her beans. She's silent for a moment while working through her meal.
Logan "Why else do ya think I wanted to ask ya certain things," Logan poses that one out there. He knows that's saying a lot. However, he wants Rogu to know she means a lot, too. So, he's a very honest statement despite the simplicity. "What are some of em'?" Logan asks her and then he will ask. "Are ya happy?"
Rogue Rogue works on her potatoes for a moment longer in silence even after Logan's asked those questions. "For all we've butted heads about, we end up working things out anyway. We've gotten better at talkin' to each other - so that's worth somethin'. You've made a good person out of me and if I were to allow myself some braggin' rights, I think you've become a better person cause of me too." Then she washes some of her food down with more tea. "I am happy. Absolutely. Are you?"
Logan "More than I want to admit," Logan says about the happiness part. However, he will just speak on a few more things after the happiness. "You challenge me, but ya won't hold my hand if I don't need it. It's kinda weird. You'll hold my head when I need it, but then let me go of it when I don't need it. Call me a dumbass when it's really earned," Logan likes all that. It's not quite tough love, not quite coddling or being overly loving. It's a nice middle ground between all of those. Like a nice harmony between them all.
Rogue "Is that so? Why don't you want to admit how happy you are?" Rogue asks this while taking a few bites of her beans. Only a little food left on her plate. For someone like her, it's amazing she can put away all that food. Then again, there is a price to pay for super human abilities. "Well I ain't your mother, or your priest. I'm your woman. My job is to keep you right about a certain level of smart and stupid...and help ya level out one way or the other when ya need it." She grins at that and then takes another swallow of tea. "How's the food?"
Logan "Cause it's a big thing. Hard to explain in full, but I knowya hav.e That's a lot of ground to cover n' I don't wanna make ya bored," or give you a big head. He just has to admit this one because a lot of this mentality came from Rogue. "You had the ibggest hand in my changes os if anyone's to blame its you darlin',"he says opnely and honestly on this front. He knows Rogue is the main reasonf or everything that has changed. Well, not everything, but close enough. So, she has his attention to say the least.
Rogue Rogue nods. "I getcha." She settles back in her chair after cleaning her plate, tearing pieces of cornbread off to snack on. "I'm glad the Professor don't mind us bein' together..." Not that it was a concern of hers but...well...maybe it was a little bit. She wiggles in her seat some and then smirks. "You didn't answer my question about the food. Though I take it from your nearly empty plate, you liked it."
Logan Logan's quiet for a bit. Unusually so, "You make me the happiest I've been in a long time. Maybe ever. I'm scared to admit that. You know my past. You know things randomly come fer me, too. I don't think I'd fergive myself if somethin' happened 'cause of me," he looks at her honestly for a moment. "Yeah. You can handle yerself, but people -have- died fer that." He looks thoughtful for a few. "There's very little I don't want wit' ya, or to do wit' ya. If I had a last name, I'd give it to ya. that's how much ya matter," and then Logan will pivot back to the pplate like nothing is said.

"I always get excited when yer cookin'. I saw an ad fer annoyin' cartoon n' the Dad happily tossed his cellphone against the wall rushin' to get food 'cause apparently that meal was worth it. I get the same feelin' when I just hear yer in the kitchen. Menu don't matter," he says with an amused smirk. "It'll be good."
Rogue "Don't either of us really have a last name, but I don't think that matters much. The name, I mean. I know we're together, people know we're together, and if someone tries to fuck that up... watch how quickly somethin' happens to 'em." Rogue says this with a grin and a gleam in her eyes. "You know my past too. It's almost like for a while we're been walkin' the same road alone... and now I've caught up with you so we could start walkin' it together. I ain't goin anywhere... and I don't think you are either. That's all that matters in the end, love."

She watches as he goes back to his plate and then laughs when he mentions the cartoon he saw. "Well if that's how ya really feel about my cookin', that says it all yeah?" And then she goes on to finish her plate and her glass of tea.
Logan Logan will nod to what Rogue says about them. Nothing is spoken, just a few nods of complete agreement.

"Yeah love, I'll do nearly anythin' short of crash my bike fer yer cookin'," it's his acknowledgement of a few things all rolled into one. His ocen blue eyes flick back to her. "I like yer laugh, too," he hasn't said that enough.
Rogue Rogue smiles and shifts to stand up, taking her own plate and glass to the sink to rinse off and pop into the dishwasher. Then she begins putting up the leftovers, but not before she looks to Logan. "You want seconds, or are you good?" Depending on his answer, she'll either let him take some more food before putting it away or just puts it away. "What d'you say about us gettin' away for the weekend? Somewhere...different. Like not yer cabin or just a picnic spot in the woods...but maybe...I dunno. Mountains are nice this time of year..."
Logan "I'm good fer now," Logan does like the idea of having leftovers for tomorrow or just a future meal. His gaze goes to her as she talks. "We could always do the opposite. Go to some place like Reno," he shrugs for a moment wondering how she would like being around people. Something he would tolerate because it's a great change of pace.

"We need somethin' fer us," he gives a soft smile and looks at her for a moment as he's curious about her thoughts.
Rogue "Too crowded. I don't think I'll ever like cities like that... just not my thing." Rogue offers. "I was thinking maybe we could go to a ski resort. Nights by the communal fire with hot chocolate or whiskey... skiing the trails during the day." She pauses. "Assuming you know how to ski. Or snowboard. Or we could even just use the resort as a resting place while spending days playing in the snow for nothing else than shits and grins...and being not who we are for a little while." Meaning the X-Men. Mutants with a cause. Just doing something....normal.
Logan "I can ski. Been ages, but I can. Just tell me when n' I can book us," Logan says thinking of those ideas as good ones. "Maybe fer a second trip we could go to one of those couples islands," he just tosses out another idea.

"I'd like to play in the snow wit' ya, but we need that. We need more of that if we're gonna make it," and he knows theyw ould do anything to help make it.
Rogue "Yeah. I agree. Alright, I'll think of a weekend when we can go and we'll set it up." Cause she's not going to let him pay for it all on his own. Or maybe he can pay for the ski trip and she'll pay for the island trip. Who knows. "We need more than just business and arguments to keep us floating, that's for sure." She finishes putting things away and cleaning up a bit before turning towards him. "I'll let you finish up dinner. You'll likely find dessert upstairs in our room." Giving him a wink then and moving to exit the kitchen.
Logan A nod comes from Logan. She may insist on helping pay, but he may do his best to beat her to the punch. Then he nods, "Yeah. We kinda lost sight of that a little keepin' things afloat." That's one thing Xavier does for them. It allows them to take a little bit of a break. Not a long one, but enough to recharge their batteries.

Then he will start to move toward the kitchen sink and everything else. "I'd say 'Promises promises,' but I know ya ain't just talkin'. Butterin' me up fer something or remindin' me how good I got it?" he asks witha brow raised and he starts up the water. Answer, or not, he'll watch her leave then dutifully work on the dishes.
