Magneto There was a time when the Nile and her surrounds were some of the most fertile lands in the world, and home to one of the globe's greatest empires. Egypt's reach stretched far and the might of her armies projected force to nearly so great a distance. Unlike some kingdoms, which rose and fell, Egyptian dynasties profited, reigning long before Alexander came to their shores, and long after his own great kingdom had fallen.

A sizable chunk of that heartland has been carved out of a rogue, slaving nation by none other than one of its own ancient Princes-- or so, they say, Black Adam claims. The Egyptian authorities have sensitive radar arrays all along the Kahndaqi border, satellites from their global allies watching from space, but none of them see Magneto's approach.

The world's most infamous mutant descends in mere moments with perfect synchroniciy through a satellite dead zone, and the radar and sensor arrays pick up no fluctuations at all. How, one asks, can the Master of Magnetism fly at such a rate, with such precise timing, exerting so much energy to propel himself, and not show up on some of the finest equipment the world can muster?

Simply, subtly, the elder mutant follows the currents back to the stations themselves, and exercts the subtlest of efforts to manipulate the electrical currents that would notify the display screens of soldiers, activate warning klaxons here and there. The sensors pick him up-- but they don't tell anyone about it. Black Adam's, however, would, as that blue-white, crackling UFO of magnetic energy soars over Kahndaqi soovereign lands..
Black Adam The world has become polluted with powered beings since Teth-Adam's time, some from this realm, this planet, but many more from elsewhere. Thus, it is to his chagrin that he is often compared to the Kryptonians that have begun to infest the world. He is not a Kryptonian, however, and he does not share their powers -- particularly their hypersensitive senses. Thus there is a delay as some lowly technician spots the disruption on the Kahndaqian monitors and reports it to the higher-ups. They take a moment or two to discuss the possibilities and responses, one rushing off mid-conversation to mobilize anti-air defenses and get pilots into jets. It is the highest ranking officer's duty and privelage to pick up a small, black phone in the back of the command center, however...

The rolling, roaring thunder of the sound barrier being shattered repeatedly is the only warning Magneto gets before the King of Kahndaq himself, Teth-Adam, bursts through the clouds and comes hurtling towards him, a collision course set and locked as the self proclaimed God King prepares to defend his lands.
Magneto Black Adam's positively quaint methods of detection and notification give Magnus ample time, at his velocity, to survey some expanse of Kahndaq's sweeping vistas, settlements, and oil pipelines. If Black Adam knows who Magneto is, it may very quickly dawn upon him just how much damage -this- particular interloper might have done with his time inside the border. But first, Black Adam has to lay eyes on said interloper, and the titan is coming in hot.

The Ancient Prince is wrong about one thing, however-- the only sign of his approach is not the sonic boom, arriving far too late to warn anyone of impending doom, but the positively -radiant- impression Teth-Adam makes into the electromagnetic spectrum. Magnus can -feel- the immortal's power as he hurtles towards the Master of Magnetism, all the more impressive this close, compared to what the elder mutant already deduced from orbit-- it's almost like he coaxed this very reaction, like it's one more step in finding out if this man is what he seems to be. When he comes into view, Magneto in all his armored regalia is facing that approach, arms crossed, cape fluttering behind him, buoyed by wind and magetic forces.

A polite distance from this figure, Black Adam would collide with a wall of force, all but invisible unless one takes a moment to look for the distortions, the subtle shimmering waves it makes in the air. On impact, the shockwave is tremendous, the opposing forces all but immeasurable.. The field wavers, bends inward, but ultimately holds.. and then simply dissipates, "I am Magneto, the Master of Magnetism, Imperator of Genosha, the Breaker of Chains and herald of a new age of humanity. I come here to parlay, not to do battle."
Black Adam When the ancient Kahndaqian slams into that barrier, he doesn't even seem fazed -- thanks to the whispering of Thoth, Bladam knows full well the publically known capabilities of the Master of Magnetism. What most catches him by surprise is when it fades and his approach once again seems clear.

In an instant, he's upon Magneto again, the sound barrier holding this time as he comes in just a bit under Mach 1 and halts either within arm's reach, or at the next set of barriers Magneto likely has in place. He mirrors the younger man's pose -- his arm's crossed over his chest, his feet perpendicular to the ground as he hovers, his face a glowering mask of annoyance.

"There are proper channels, Mortal," he informs his opposite with imperial arrogance positively dripping from his every syllable, "I spare you only because your power would make your death... Messy." He glances briefly down at the infrastructure visible from their vantage, double checking that Magneto isn't currently tearing it apart as he distracts Black Adam. "Speak your mind quickly, my patience for interlopers is short indeed."
Magneto Magneto says, "So black and white. What if failing to stop a murderer yields greater devastation?:)"
Magneto Magneto says, "'Murder' carries the wrong implications here. Perhaps 'execution' or 'justifiable manslaughter'"
Magneto Magneto says, "Magneto more or less too, Frank. Except when his image hurts his cause."
Magneto Magneto says, "'There there bud, you did good, they went quick.' *HOOOOOORK*"
Magneto Magneto says, "You got buff and undead, instead of mockery you now get unspoken trepidation."
Magneto Magneto says, "Everyone who was your teammate and smugly superior is now afraid of you, Douglas."
Magneto Magneto says, "Forget 'in the Marvel Universe' how about 'as long as most of humanity are volatile tribal apes with a preference for familiar ideas instead of critical thinking but don't admit it'"
Magneto Magneto says, "'What you weren't convinced they'd try to exterminate us the first three dozen times they tried to exterminate us, Charles?'"
Magneto Magneto says, "I write that in as a product of his powers awakening in the death camps, shutting down a swath of his telepathy and empathy he's implied to have in classic Marvel, and leaving the exercise of his powers inherently destabilizing"
Magneto Magneto says, "Basically Magneto can be rational and sensible, but the more he strives, the madder he gets."
Magneto Magneto says, "Rampant e/m fluctuation can do all kinds of things to a brain's functionality"
Magneto Magneto says, "Partly it's my internal narrative to tjustify -some- of Magnus' tremendous 'depending on the writer' over the years."
Magneto Magneto says, "Partly to keep the theme that his own mental distress and trauma are, arguably, his own biggest enemies."
Magneto Magneto says, "Doom is similar to Erik in a lot of ways."
Magneto Magneto says, "When they tried to make mutation a single, recessive gene it's like"
Magneto Magneto says, "ICly here Magneto's take is definitely that they just need to survive long enough to become inexorable genetic momentum."
Magneto Magneto says, "And that metahuman powers come from a variety of genetic markers, latent and activated, usually triggered by the x-gene in adolescence"
Magneto Magneto says, "I stopped reading comics regularly in the late 90's, with a firm impression of the Classic and Uncanny runs and some fatigue over where things were already headed."
Magneto Magneto says, "When I played Logan he had tremendous sympathy for Madelyne."
Magneto Magneto says, "It's hard not to blame Scott for Maddie's descent to madness in that story."
Magneto Magneto says, "And its not like he was particularly good to her up to that point"
Magneto Magneto says, "He'd ditched her numerous times over her protestations and then there was Nathan Christopher..."
Magneto Magneto says, "I did enjoy the arc where Mastermind fed Scott's delusion that she was Jean"
Magneto Magneto says, "And then made the X-Men think Scott was Dark Phoenix"
Magneto Magneto says, "Ultimate was such a mix of interesting remix and... holy crap edgelord wrote what?"
Magneto Magneto says, "It wasn't quite as hilarious as All-Star Batman and Robin tho."
Magneto Magneto says, "which says something when you have pediphile Wolverine and voyeur Xavier."
Magneto Magneto says, "Twincest Maximoffs: still more believable than Batman getting it on in a pile of burning criminal goo."
Magneto Magneto says, "Oh I'm sure, it was the first part that was funny."
Magneto Magneto pretty much manipulates the entire e/m spectrum. Which does.... a few of those things.
Magneto Magneto says, "I'm surprised I never see Icon and Rocket played. But I guess they mostly disappeared when the lines merged, unlike Static."
Magneto Magneto says, "Goodbye forever for the last time until the next time."
Magneto Magneto says, "If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, be alarmed now. It's a carnivorous plant-thing."
Magneto Magneto says, "I've been rewatching Batman The Animated Series, holds up so much better than most of my childhood animation loves."
Magneto Magneto says, "Ivy is going to be distraught when she realizes these are artificially flavored."
Magneto Magneto says, "'Natural Flavoring' - Anything with organic chemical components we're legally allowed to put in this."
Magneto Magneto says, "'Artifical Flavoring' - Literally anything we're legally allowed to put in this."
Magneto Magneto says, "Pasta in the morning pasta in the noontime pasta at suppertime."
Magneto Magneto says, "Hear the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots!! Damn you-- let the rabbits wear glasses!"
Magneto Magneto says, "Bury your friends, family, and allies with their prized possessions."
Magneto Magneto says, "If they have a signature weapon it may also be appropriate to take it up to painfully end the life of whoever slew them..."
Magneto Magneto says, "Don't you have a magical artifact weapon in many tellings? That would be a fun duel."
Magneto Magneto says, ".... those sound like two names for the same thing, ngl."
Magneto Magneto says, "Instead of nuclear warheads, with the proliferation of dangerous artifacts in a shared universe, Magneto just issues a global ultimatum demanding all magical swords."
Magneto Magneto says, "Is how many of them seemed like bullshit but turn out to be right in line with various electromagnetic stunts."
Magneto Magneto says, "Like, science has eventually been like 'Oh crap, electromagnetism DOES do that'"
Magneto Magneto says, "Like bending light or manipulating non-ferromagnetic substances or changing molecules around."
Magneto Magneto says, "Ehhh, like, a meaningful laser beam is a LOT of power, and he has trouble generating that power the farther he gets from the electricity and magnetic frequencies, in most tellings."
Magneto Magneto says, "It's fundamentally tied to the same positive/negative charged particles though, really."
Magneto Magneto says, "Some of it's harder to quantify and obv waving your hand and doing it is still nonsense but. I like analyzing some of that, to a point."
Magneto Magneto says, "Outside the movies, that's never reeeaaally been how comics defined Magneto though."
Magneto Magneto says, "The thing is, lots of characters CAN defeat other characters even with a rational assessment."
Magneto Magneto says, "The trick is that one example does not a benchmark make."
Magneto Magneto says, "'This one panel I did X' is the bane of appstaff."
Magneto Magneto says, "To me it's both accurate to say that Batman would usually lose to Superman and that the nature of the characters means that Batman has every chance to beat Superman."
Magneto Magneto says, "Or that lots of high-end combatants -can- beat up each other. Really, that's how fights between martial arts masters often -are-"
Magneto Magneto says, "Quick and brutal and seemingly one-sided the instant it gets away from one of them. >_>"
Magneto Magneto says, "'Depending on the writer' whiplash is hilarious comic book insanity even NOT just comparing takes on the power levels, haha"
Magneto Magneto says, "lol, I admit... Kenan challenging Pietro to a race, setting the course, and then Pietro''s just gone in the opposite direcction is like..."
