Owner Pose
Doctor Doom Doctor Doom, Absolute Ruler of Latveria, renowned scientist, master sorcerer, is currently standing in his office at the Latverian Embassy in New York. He has a satisfied expression on his face, the artifact he recently... secured from that boat attacked by Deep Ones safely warded to prevent more unwanted encounters with such beings. Or worse.

"And those fools thought I was there to help them. How delightful. Perhaps Doom can convince these shallow minded so-called heroes that he looks after their best interests after all. Hmm." He presses a button on his desk, speaking over the intercom, "Inform the chronicler to pay particular attention to tonight's monologue. Doom felt it was quite inspiring." He smiles under his mask, as everything is coming together according to his plans... what could POSSIBLY ruin his evening?
Mister Fantastic     *beeeeep* "My lord, forgive me, but you have a visitor." comes the voice of one of your many lackeys. "...one of those you directed us to immediately inform you of if he was anywhere near the embassy." she adds. Which likely means one person, since it's a 'him' and not a 'her' of course. "What is your command, my liege?"
Doctor Doom     Doom pauses, "Of course, he would." The man frowns behind the mask, then folds his hands behind his back, "Send him in. I doubt he would resort to any childish subterfuge." With that, Doom paces back behind the desk, facing the door as he knows exactly who is coming calling.
Mister Fantastic     And moments later, the door opens, and Richards walks in, a frown on his lips as he pauses just inside, the door being quietly shut behind him. "...Victor." he says evenly. He never does use your nomme de guerre when it's the two of you. Either because he knows it may annoy you slightly, or...just that he can't bring himself to considering all that's between you.
Doctor Doom     Doom looks at Reed, and his mask seems to form a smile, "Why, Reed, what brings such an illustrious man as yourself to the Embassy?" He gestures, "How is your family? They're doing well, yes? Please, have a seat. Did you wish to have some refreshments?" Sure, his voice is rather sarcastic, but he's also offering his hospitality. Admittedly, very sarcastic hospitality, but this is Doom we're talking about here.
Mister Fantastic     "You know perfectly well why I'm here..." Reed says, folding his arms, not taking the offer of the seat. His voice is steady, if a little grim. "You took something off that ship. Something that was drawing those extradimensional incursions to attack the ship." Yes, he never can quite call it magic, can he? Because magic is just....sloppy thinking, in Reed's world. Extradimensional intrusins, or energies, or rules of physics, etc. Much more sciency. "There's every possibility that if that item remains in this reality, it will continue to attract further attacks."
Doctor Doom     Doom looks a bit affronted, "The ship? I merely sensed the same disturbances, and... oh, I'm sure you were busy." He doesn't bother with the Doom-speak when it's only he and Richards, there's no point. Then he smiles again, "But, I helped the heroes dispatch those creatures. Or did they not mention that part? Truly, it was an act of altruism on my part. Your suspicion wounds me, old /friend/." Indeed, the energies of the artifact are, for now, quite safely warded. Until the proper moment anyway...
Mister Fantastic     "Altruism." he says, dryly. "Of course, I'm sure." He's a bit annoyed with himself that he was out in space when it happened....that sort of incursion set off all sorts of alarms on S.T.A.N., but by the time he was back, it was over. "Well old -friend-...I'm sure that you would know nothing about the missing cargo in question that seems to have been drawing them. Because I could get an energy reading, even with the item itself...absent." he says crisply.
Doctor Doom     Doom leans back in his chair, taking a seat, "You could, but I'm afraid that such an action would be against international law. After all, this is an Embassy, Reed. Of course, I wouldn't expect the trite legalities to catch your attention in that regard." He then leans forward, tilting his head, "Or do you not think that I would detect your scans? A pity you never could expand your mind to include alternative ways to 'scan', Reed." His hands are steepled in front of him, elbows on the desk as he looks amused, "Was there anything else that I can do for you? Ah, I know... invitations to the string quartet at the Themiscryian Embassy next Thursday? I do have extra tickets, if you and Susan need a night out and away from the kids? Particularly Johnny, I'm sure."
Mister Fantastic     Reed frowns deeply at you. "Those 'trite legalities' are why I'm attempting to do this in a more civilized manner, by reminding you of just how dangerous that item is. I fully suspect you aren't aware of its full dangers anymore than I am as of yet." He gestures around the room. "And I'm fairly sure that extradimensional horrors don't respect diplomatic immunity." His dark eyes meet yours directly. "You could be endangering everyone here, for the sake of your...curiosity." He doesn't expect Victor will listen to his warnings....he usually doesn't. But he has to try.
Doctor Doom     Doom smiles wryly at Reed, "So I guess that's a no on the string quartet, a pity. I'm sure Susan would have really enjoyed the experience." He sighs a bit, "But if you please, Reed, do extend the invitation to Valeria. I would like her to experience /some/ culture after all, and I rarely get a chance to see her as it is."
Mister Fantastic     That draws a bit of a twitch from Reed. "I'm sure if she expresses an interest I can find tickets to take her." he says steadily. "Besides, I suspect Sue would want some say in her having activities out with....you." There's a certain 'and it will be a cold day in hell' inherent in that, though he's too polite to overtly say it. If there's anything that can get Reed's back up, it's perceived danger to his family, after all.
Doctor Doom     If a man can look offended through a metal mask, Doom manages to do so, "Reed... I'm shocked. You think that I would endanger my own god-daughter?" He smiles again, "But, of course, you should do as you see fit. Though by all means, have Benjamin chaperone her if you feel the need." He rises to his feet, and extends the envelope to Reed, "Two tickets. And I give you my word that the concert is not any sort of plot. Feel free to ask the Themiscryan Embassy, if you don't believe that." Indeed. A perfectly mundane envelope, with two perfectly mundane tickets... though the concert should be FAR from mundane.
Mister Fantastic     Reed frowns a bit, then grudgingly takes the envelope after a moment. Despite their many difference...Victor wouldn't harm Valeria. He's intelligent enough to realize that, though that doesn't make him like it much either. "I'm sure they'll extend their thanks then." he says, deciding that he can always try to track down a few more tickets. Just in case.
Doctor Doom     Doom smiles, "Excellent. I look forward to seeing her." The sarcasm is gone, now, as he sounds like he genuinely means it. And then he continues, "Truth be told, I must admit to wishing an opportunity to see the Princess again. She was simply magnificent, and regal. Truly worthy of being called royalty, unlike so many others I could name." And she was delightfully naive enough to be tricked by him, but that's just another benefit.
Mister Fantastic     Reed hmmmms, considering that. "I'm sure she'll be there if it's the embassy. I'll have to make a point to say hello." And perhaps warn her a bit about Dr. Doom while he can. She struck him as a bit...altruistic, but perhaps a bit inexperienced as well, form what he's read in news stories thus far. He tucks the evelope in a pocket. "...considering my warning, Victor. That object needs to be sent to wherever it came from, before it causes more havoc. Whether it's you or me who does it doesn't matter, as long as it's done."
Doctor Doom     Doom looks a bit offended, but mildly so, "Reed, I assure you, if I do find that artifact of which you speak, I will make sure that it is disposed of properly." Which, he will, of course. Once he's completed his nefarious plans with it... since it would no longer be of any use for him then.
Mister Fantastic     Reed hmmms, his eye snarrowing slightly. "As you say." he says, letting it lie for the moment. There's no point pushing it; he's let him know he knows he probably has it and that he'll be watching now for....tentacle....things. Or whatever they were. Extradimensional intruders! "I'll take my leave then." He nods, politely.
Doctor Doom     Doom smiles, "Of course. And do give my best to the family. Tell them I'm looking forward to seeing them all rather soon." He pauses, and then adds, "Yes, even Johnny." With that, he walks with Reed towards the door, showing him out, as is only proper.
Mister Fantastic     Reed steps out, sighing to himself. "...he's completely up to something." he mutters, the moment he's out the front door, rubbing his face a bit. He's best tell the others...not that it should be a suprise to them either. But if Doom is so intent on going to this event...then best they be there to keep an eye on him.
