Tatum O'Neal With classes starting the next day, Tatum is in a last ditch effort to make sure she has everything. She is in her classroom, which is actually split into two areas for cooking and sewing, and is going over her inventory list. Food ingredients, fabric, pots and pans, buttons and bows. Everything needs to be accounted for and double checked that she has enough stock. This all would have been so much easier if she had been given the Music teacher position like on her own homeworld. Home Ec actually takes work!!

THe goth with the flare for the dramatic and sexy is wearing her usual brand of outfit. Jeans so tight they could be painted on and a black lacy shirt over a blue silk camisole under it. Her hair is worn in a high ponytail today as she looks over the clipboard in one hand while she scratches her head in confusion with the other.
Colossus In terms of the care and feeding of the student body, there may have been some rumors, idle comments, grumblings, or otherwise about the fact that Piotr had evidently 'forced' a bunch of them to eat a big pot of 'horrible commie soup' a few days back. Well, probably some of them liked it. But the detractors are always the loudest! True or not, it is the case that the garden he helps maintain in back of the mansion has produced a good supply of seasonal veggies, and the large man's appearance heralds the arrival of a pair of bushel baskets full of the same, each tucked against one arm with his hands supporting them beneath.

"Hello? Ah, Ms. O'Neal. Is good to be seeing you. I have..." and he holds them out demonstratively, "... some things from garden. Good and fresh for healthy making, da?" The giant fellow is all smiles, no sign of any unease from their prior meeting, and walks around to settle the baskets with heavy thuds upon the table top - of course a full bushel of veggies can weigh upwards of seventy or eighty pounds, a fact his easy managing of two them may deceptively obscure!
Tatum O'Neal Looking up from her ponderings of the inventory list, Tate smiles when she sees who enters. The garden has been doing well, partly due to all the teachers that love to work on it. Tatum herself has made learning how to grow some of your own food part of the curriculum. "Just put them there on the table, cutie patootie. Iain't foolish enough to try and take one of those baskets off of you. You like have them loaded so heavy they would crush me if I tried." SHe winks to the large man and saunters over to him, her heels clicking over the hardwood floor.

She looks over the produce and smiles, picking up some of the root vegetables and smelling them. "I love that earthy smell when you just pull them, and how they are slightly warm from the soil and the sun." She plucks one of the carrots from the bunch and goes over to the sink to wash it off before taking a bite. "So, you ready for tomorrow? How many students signed up for your course?"
Colossus "Is more efficient, make large loads and carry all together," Piotr points out, and readily sets them down where she suggests, clapping his hands together a couple times once he is done to pat off a little of the excess dust and dirst from the baskets and their contents. Then he stands back a bit as the reluctant home ec teacher moves in to inspect the produce, smiling with a touch of pride as she reacts so well. "Yes, smell... it reminds me of motherland, of farm where I grew up. It was good and simple time there."

As she goes to wash one for a bite, he remains beside the table, resting a hand there simply relaxing a little. "Ah, number is not so many. Maybe painting is not 'cool' to modern American teenager. But there are few. And I will be helping with other things also, like combat instruction." Yeah, it would sort of be a waste having him ONLY teach art. "Had session in danger room yesterday, the students did very well."
Tatum O'Neal It would be a waste to have any of the seasoned veterans only teaching the subject they do. For her part, Tatum specializes in teaching the students how to fight when they don't have access to their powers. Always fun. For her. She nibbles at the carrot and smiles happily, sighing at the taste that can only come from a well loved and tended garden.

"Yes, I heard a little bit about that when Hank and I came from looking over houses. There were some ruffled feathers, but that's pretty much normal when you get a bunch of teenagers together, isn't it?" She leans on a table opposite from Piotr as the two teachers talk. "My freshman class is fairly large, but that's mostly because we make the first year of home ec mandatory. After that, my class gets smaller and smaller as the grade level goes up. My senior class is four students. At least this means plenty of one on one time for them. And I'd let you teach me art, but only if we get to paint the naked models." She waggles her brows and winks, being her usual self and being completely inappropriate.
Colossus "Is good?" Piotr wonders, when she actually tries the carrot, and smiles more at her reaction. "I am thinking about what else to be planting. But for now, is still some to take out. Very good harvest, I think, for starting out." And mention of any rumors about the training session does seem to pique his curiousity a little. "Well yes, is normal to be complaining, when you are young. This is same here, in homeland, everywhere. Was there anything in particular? Maybe I have some experience in fighting, but less in teaching, so I must practice also, improve myself to better be improving them, da?"

However, the bit about naked models does kinda stop him dead in his tracks, train of thought, however you want to put it, as he quickly assures here: "There will be no naked models in class!" As if maybe he thought this was seriously on the table. "Students are, ah, getting up to trouble enough without encouragement, I am thinking!"
Tatum O'Neal Tatum nods her head, the black hair and smoky eyes a direct contrast to her sunny and chipper mood. "Is very good. Makes me miss the farm back on my world. I really learned to love getting my fingers dirty there. Watching the trees slowly get bigger. They would have started producing fruit this year." She thinks about what the girls seemed to be arguing over. "They were talking about leadership roles and responsibilities and SOPs and how it could have been better organized from the leader's position. But I also gather she's new at the role of leader. Basically, one girl gave advice and another girl saw that as trying to say that the leader wasn't good at her job. It was just a misunderstanding that was all worked over. THey are also learning how to communicate with each other like adults. It takes practice, thinking with your head and not your heart. I was like that when I first got here too, all hot-headed and feeling instead of thinking."

As Piotr gets flustered from her comments, Tatum's pale grey eyes twinkle with amusement. Instead of letting him in on the fact that she's teasing, she plays with him a little. "What? No nude models? So... just a brazillian thong then? Come on, Piotr? How else am I gonna get to see you naked?" She then can't hold back her mirth any longer and starts to laugh. "YOu should see the look on your face. It's priceless. I'm teasing, Piotr. I don't need to see you nude." She waits a few moments then and that devilish grin returns. "I can just get a simulation of it from the Danger Room if I really felt I needed to see for myself."
Colossus Listening to the whole thing explained back to him, Piotr gives a slow nod as he seems to follow it. Or mostly! "Ah. Yes. I am sure, with new people working together, is friction like this. Is good they were talking about afterward. From what I was seeing, I thought did very well, so is just little details to be working out." No one would ever be able to call the gentle giant any sort of hothead, of course, but surely he's had to get used to some of the more animated personalities around him, even among the senior team members.

"What, why would anyone be wearing- ah." No, Piotr had really not quite caught on to the whole thing, probably aware she was being provocative but not entirely convinced it wasn't serious! "There will be no models of such kind, myslef or otherwise. Well, unless, maybe if class lasts and more mature students are wanting to do figure work. But then I am hiring professional! They do not need to be riled up, and you should not try and rile me up so hard either." Still, by the last, he's not really angry or accusatory or anything, more like a gentle 'tsking.' Though he does go on: "What you are using simulator for in own time is own business."
Tatum O'Neal Tatum nods her head slowly, agreeing with him about the students. She's more of a hothead when it comes to battle, fighting with her heart rather then her head. How she and Beast ended up together is anyone's guess. The two are polar opposites. "As they practice, they will learn each other's skills and strengths and start to help each other. It's all part of the learning process."

She is all playful smiles until Piotr makes his own playful remark at her. She arches a brow, smirking and just shakes her head. "I'm saying nothing to that or I'll end up in trouble. So, enough about nude models. What are you thinking of planting for the fall and winter season? Kale, of course. I have a winter kale soup recipe that I'll teach the kids. And maybe more beets for your infamous borscht?"
Colossus "Oh yes. It will be working out, I am sure. Even if they are being new to these things, I saw some good work during session. And I have even taught one my special attack!" Obviously, if Tatum had seen the footage or knew much of Colossus, that would be his 'Fastball', which he'd pulled off during the training with Negasonic, rather than one of his more usual choices in human ammunition like Logan. Of course, he's also been one of the few, if only teachers (or students for that matter), to seem to crack her tough exterior in any meaningful way.

"I would not wish to be causing trouble for happy couple, so I will not inquire further," Piotr then goes on to say, in his typically honorable fashion. "More beets is for certain!" Because borscht is life, clearly. "And I am often hearing about this magic of kale, on American television. It is seeming very popular. So I will try, yes."
Tatum O'Neal Tate has to roll her eyes when it is mentioned about the magic of kale. "Oh lord. Don't get me started on the hipsters and their wonders of kale baloney. Kale used to be nice and cheap before the hipsters got their grubby little hands on it. That and gluten free foods, avacados and whatever superfood of the week they have got in their heads this week." She shakes her head and pushes herself off of her table, tossing the end of the carrot in the compost bucket to be taken to the garden later. She then starts to put away the produce. "Normally I would be washing this stuff first, but that's actually their first lesson tomorrow. And maybe a side project on keeping the fridge clean."

She recalls the training video, having watched if only to see what the girls were fighting about. "I did see that. I always kinda wished I was a little more indestructable so I could be on the throwing end of that. Looks like a real fun ride." As she talks and moves, she keeps certain not to touch Piotr. Not that taking his powers away right now when he's not all Living Steel would be bad, but she doesn't like taking powers away without permission. An ethics thing she learned in her time here.
Colossus For a moment, Colossus looks a little lost. "I am not sure what is 'hipster.' I am hearing term before, yes, and am understanding there is large colony of them in Brooklyn. And always people are seeming annoyed by them, but nothing is done. Are they big problem?" X-men, target: Williamsburg! He shrugs. "I think will be alright, still. We are saving money already, with the vegetables, so there should be spare from food budget." So, hipsters aside, the kale can be acquired. "Making students get hands dirty, is good. I am sure your class will be teaching them much self-reliance, away from... ah, perhaps too 'easy' of American teenager lifestyle. Though most are not having as easy lives as their counterparts now, some did grow up this way. Is hard change."

Then he turns as the woman talks about the maneuver and her interest in it, and he does seem to consider her thoughtfully. "Hmm. It would be dangerous, yes, for someone with human durability. But could also be powerful, to place you near powerful enemy and then flip 'off switch', da?"
Tatum O'Neal The goth teacher has to laugh as Piotr points out he has no idea what a hipster is. "They are just regular people, mutants or otherwise, who have a certain lifestyle. THey dress a certain way, they eat a certain way. And you always hear them saying that they did whatever is their pet project before it was cool. And at first it was pretty neat, but after a while the fad got a little ... over done. In all fairness, they are pretty good at raising money for charities. They started the whole Me to We thing and Girls are Powerful. So, hipsters aren't all bad." She goes to wash her hands after putting away the produce. "Well, that's part of what I teach for home ec. Not just cooking and sewing, but cleaning, growing your own food, how to do your taxes. I see home ec. not as just a cushion course to pad your report card, but as a course that teaches you the basic things you need to live as an adult on your own. Like budgetting. A lot of these basic things aren't taught in schools. And no offense against our math teacher, but I don't really need to know how to determine x over y. But I do need to know how to make sure I have enough money to pay my rent and still be able to have some fun in a month."

When Piotr points out how effective tossing her at an enemy could be, Tatum nods her head. She's clearly been thinking the same thing. "It would be dangerous. But it might be something we want to train, in case it's ever needed. What if Magneto goes all angry, grr, argh, kill-all-normals again?"
Colossus "... ah." The explanation probably half goes over Piotr's head as well, but that's OK! He picks things up, in bits and pieces, so it's all handy information to absorb on the confusing oddities of American culture! "Well, then there is no cause for chasing away hipster infestation of Brooklyn. We shall leave them in peace, so long as they do not stand in way of kale." It is never wise to stand in Colossus' way, generally! After this odd bit of cultural exchange, he seems better grounded in the more practical things she mentions. "Is all very good, yes. Since many do not have parents, or cannot be with them, we must teach them all these things they need to be knowing for living in bigger world. They will have many responsibilities, but bigger burden can be held up with stronger foundation."

"Yes, for someone like him, is very useful. I, hah, strong as I am, am like puppet under his power. Maybe..." And he regards her, up and down, although one would imagine with their prior interaction that it's not just to oggle her curves, "... Hank could be working on armor, or something like this? To protect while you are in field, and offer some durability against various things. If I was not throwing you at hardest strength, I think might be alright."
Tatum O'Neal Walking over to join Colossus, she leans on the table next to him, but far enough away that her power doesn't affect him. "Wait though, you'd lose your strength when you touched me anyway, so you wouldn't be able to throw me. At least, not with the full extent of your power. Just as far as your physical muscles could." She sighs softly and shrugs. "So much for that idea. And please, don't give Hank any more reason to armor me up then he already has. Every time I go into combat, he gets that look on his face that makes me worry that if I get hurt he's going to cry."

"I know that if I focus and try really hard, I can get my finger passed my aura. But that's one finger. I don't think I could pull in my power enough to let you keep yours."
Colossus "Mmm, if there is no controlling it more, or this cannot be learned," as he knows many have come to the academy and learned far greater control over their powers in time, or even new uses for them, "there is also no... method of shielding?" Piotr wonders. Obviously, he does like the idea, or at least finds some promise in it, and not just because he has some bizarre love of tossing people around like ammo! "Friend Anna-Marie, I know, must make real touch, of skin onto skin. If yours goes further, maybe tougher materials?" But healso knows just as well that mutations, well, are mutations, and come out in all kinds of weird variations, so who knows.

In any case, he makes it clear: "It would not work like this," and he waves a hand at his chest. "Not at all. I am... well, in good physical condition, but only. Otherwise, when human, am human." So there's no 'lesser' strength to speak of, nor ability to throw her beyond well, however far a 6 and a half foot tall bodybuilder could throw a woman her size. Which might be a little ways, but hardly anything worthwhile on the tactical scale.
Tatum O'Neal Tatum then gets an idea as they talk. "Wait! Rogue! THat's it. Her wedding present! Hank and I have been working on something that she is going to love, and I've been testing it. It's a bracelet, using the technology of the power dampening collars from Genosha. It can be turned on and off and is just a bracelet and not a collar that can't come off. No telling her before the wedding. I want to see her face when she realizes that her wedding night just got a whole lot better. Anyway, if I wear the bracelet, turn off my powers, then you throw me and I turn on my powers again.... that could work. We would have to practice the timing, but we could do it."
Colossus It takes Piotr a moment to quite work through all of that, the collars, the bracelet, the gift and what it's for... yeah, he DOES blush a bit there, when she gets to the whole 'improve their wedding night' and he fully grasps the whole shape of the plan. It's probably not something he'd even closely considered or had reason to talk about (it's not like he frequently chats with Rogue about her sex life!), until all those pieces fit together. Oh my! "Ah... yes, this is most kind gift, to happy couple." He takes a moment. "I am sure, from them you will have most eternal gratitude. Is wonderful."

But beyond this kind of TMI scenario, the whole idea does have practical promise for their dilemma as well. "If it is working, yes, I think would make idea possible. With proper timing, as you are saying. But this can be practiced."
Tatum O'Neal Tatum is Queen of the TMI. And totally unapologetic for it too. She watches Piotr as he starts to add the pieces together, giggling as he starts to blush. "Yep, I'm pretty sure they would love the pair of us for forever for that gift. But, the thing is, that our copy of it, the prototype, could be used for other things. Like you throwing me like a weapon."
Colossus "Ah yes..." Piotr muses aloud, goving over the idea in his head and probably now playing out some of the non-embarassing implications of the whole thing as well. "And is technology that could be used against us, also, if is getting into wrong hands. I do see danger." By now, his embarassed surprise has faded. He's still a grown man, so it's not as if such topics are totally beyond his comfort, it's just a little awkward being more or less tricked into thinking of a teamate in *that* particular scenario, perhaps a little too vividly! "Perhaps is idea to be saving for later, in case such tactic is needed? I am thinking the Professor will also have thought on such things, and how should be used."
Tatum O'Neal Tatum nods her head sagely. "I know that Eric would be very upset with me if it turned out the tech got out and got used for something he didn't agree to. He was nice enough to allow us to take one of the collars to make this gift. He understands that a newlywed couple is going to want to hold hands, kiss, hug. And what about kids. He was actually surprisingly reasonable. I think your world's Eric is a bit more mature. Mentally. Not age."

Her eyes look up to the ceiling as she thinks about what could happen if the collar, or the bracelets, got in the wrong hands. "I understand why he wanted to destroy them all, but as I told him, technology isn't evil. It's the people that are using it that are evil."
Colossus "It is reasonable," Piotr agrees. "Married couple should be able to enjoy fullness of that life." Now that he's not actually thinking of the *details*, the idea in abstract is fully one he can get behind! He's probably a bit of a family man, or at least, the sort inclined to it. "Is kind of him to offer assistance on their behalf." He will not say much more about how reasonable or not the man is beyond this, and simply moves on. "But is great risk. Well," and here he glances around the little kitchen area. "Is simply something to think about for future, da? I am not lacking volunteers for throwing!"
Tatum O'Neal Tatum is being nice and not embarrassing Piotr any more. She got her fun and saw him blush. Now it's time to be all mature and polite and caring about other peoples comfort level. "I'll just have to bide my time and wait for the chance to get thrown, just being envious of all the ones that get the privelege for now." She considers then and tilts her head to one side. "You know... now that I think about it, I've not actually trained with you, have I. At least not the you from this world. YOu don't know how we work together, or against each other for that matter. We should fix that."
Colossus "There is no reason to be envying comrade Logan," Piotr assures her. "Him, I am just tossing about without much caution. He is strong. Is fine." This may be a little rare Colossus humor, the idea that he just casually throws the Wolverine around without particular care. Still, the woman is right in the last, and even if the whole discussion has led to something of a dead end on their would-be team combo, there are plenty of other things. "You should be attending practice with all staff. But, I am happy for some one-on-one. Of course, will probably be... well, different training from usual." Since they'd more or less boil down to a couple normal people in the Danger Room. "With classes starting, I will look at schedule to find time that is good, da?"
Tatum O'Neal Laughing at the thought of Colossus just tossing Wolverine about like a ragdoll, Tatum smiles and bumps her shoulder against Piotr briefly. In and out of her field, too fast to really notice the effect of her power. "I like the practice sessions. They were always fun." SHe laughs again and smiles wide. "I remember, back home, Scott would ride me all the time to get better. It would make me so mad. No matter how much I improved, he would just keep telling me it wasn't good enough. So, one day, I dislocated his shoulder and knee." She smiles from ear to ear at the memory, sighing happily. "THat was a great day."
Colossus "Comrade Scott, I am having feeling he is... very same everywhere," Piotr notes, also perhaps with a touch of humor. "But is good leader. Is little doubt, following him toward battle." As for the bump, it's hard to tell if he feels or gets anything from it, as outside his metallic form, he is... a very normal man! Just big. And so it passes as no more than any such friendly contact might, perhaps without him even pondering the consequence of it. "And in philosophy of training, I am agreeing with him more than not. We should not be too hard on students quickly, but is important they become strong. So there must always be push to go further."
Tatum O'Neal "Oh, don't get me wrong. He's a hard ass, but he has his reasons. I didn't understand that when I first met him, but now that I've had some experience under my belt, it's a lot clearer. I was typical of some of these kids. Huge chip on my shoulder. So angry at being a mutant suddenly and hating my power. And he made himself a target for my anger. I realize now that he did that on purpose. He gave me someone other then myself to be angry at, someone that I could focus on 'defeating', if only on a level of being more then what he said I was. And it has to be hard, to be that person. To be the person that paints a target on himself to help you at his own detriment. I wish I could have told *my* Scott that I get it now. THat I'm sorry for all the things I said and did. But, at least I can be friends with this world's Scott." She considers what they are trying to do for the students and smiles. "And they do become stronger here. Not just combat or their powers, but the things we teach them in the classes. Like art, or cooking."
Colossus Once again, that may all be a little vast and philosophical or simply abstract enough that Piotr misses some of the subtlety of the language, but in giving a firm nod at what the woman says, he seems to get the jist and agree with it all the same. "Yes. Is hard for many. My, hmm, well, young Ellie, who I am something like mentor toward? Is very angry. Very closed. But is necessary for her and other students to see beyond personal... ah I learn good word for this: 'angst,' da? And focus is good for this. Teachers can be disliked, so long as that is making them want to prove themselves better and focus on their goal." More or less the idea! But he does flash her a warmer smile when she brings up this new opportunity. "Is rare to have second chances in life, in this way, you have some luck."

All that said, he straightens up a bit (as if he needs to look taller) and places his hands at his waist. "Well, this is enough 'gabbing.'" Another new word! If maybe one with nuances he might be slightly missing! "I should check on rest of harvest, some students will be helping bring everything in. You will have plenty for practicing!" Grin. "And I will be seeing you later, maybe for practice. Do svidaniya." And with this, exit giant!
