Owner Pose
Karen Starr     It's a very nice day in New York and people are out and about, mostly to mingle and take their dogs out, but others are about as well, such as the media, usually flooding Avengers Mansion to get a glimpse of the Heroes, try to create a scandal for them, or worse. It's near the Avengers Mansion that a figure flies on by and slows to a stop....out of sight of the paparazzi. "Well.....isn't that cozy....."
Kate Kane     Kate isn't really one of the paparazzi. She's less obtrusie about her movements, stealthily moving along the outside of the building simply out of an unwillingness to cause a disruption with her presence. She keeps toward shadowed areas and her steps are the practiced silence of someone who stalks the night. Even people with advanced hearing would have a hard time noticing her at first. For right now the young redhead in the leather jacket is sanning the esky, seeing Power Girl alighting near the mansion and nodding slowly. She isn't here to cause a scandal so while she approaches Power Girl slowly Kate doesn't really bring attention to herself just yet. She's watching to see what the woman will do. And if she's been made, of course.
Karen Starr     thankfully, Power Girl is on top of another building so she can watch the paparazzi from a safe distance. With her arms cross as she observes, Power Girl turns her head towards the young redhead below and offers a slight smile. She just seems to be watching the 'journalists' make fools of themselves.
Kate Kane     Well. That settles it. Kate returns the smile and even offers a wave. Then her gaze follows Power Girl's and she grins slightly. She may have been here to watch the paparazzi as well. Kate reaches into her pocket and removes a granola bar to take a bite. She's chewing as she casually walks up to the building question. Then the woman starts climbing. She's actually rather nimble. Power Girl can run, of course, but it doesn't seem like Kate is going to do much other than scale two or three stories in a couple moments. "Are there always this many people just... Swarming around here...?"
Karen Starr     Power Girl doesn't move, but as Kate gets close, Power Girl turns her head slightly. "Some of them even camp here. Just for a glimpse, or to actually try and cause trouble. It's no wonder they're called VUltures." She then shakes her head. "Come here to watch the circus too?"
Kate Kane     "Pretty much. It looked interesting at least." Kate nods slowly and then setles in beside Power Girl, perched in a very familiar way on the roof. "I hope I'm not intruding too much but I figured you could probably outrun me if you wanted to be left alone." Kate flashes a smile at that, turning her gaze out towar the paparazzi. "So many people wasting their lives on this hoping Captain America will poke his head outside for thirty seconds without a shirt... Mmm."
Karen Starr     "Bah. More like who's he dating, What's he done to his current girlfriend, that sort of thing. I've been listening." Power Girl then looks towards Kate. "or, some of the sicker ones will hope they'll catch black widow in just a towel."
Kate Kane     "But they take what they can get. I used to have to deal with these types," Kate responds, shaking her head slowly. "Still do sometimes, but it was never this bad." Kate briefly meets Power Girl's gaze when she looks her way and then gives a slow nod. "My name is Kate, by the way." A beat follows as the taller woman takes a deep breath. "Who is he dating though?" Kate asks with a mischievious grin before breaking into quiet laughter. "Anyone stupid enough to try to hop the fence yet? You can see it better than I can."
Karen Starr     "I figure his personal life is his business. If he's seeing someone, good for him. it's not up to others to spoil it. I'm Power Girl." She says with a chuckle. "Many of them wish to find a chink in the 'armor' of the people many others look up to."
Kate Kane     "Yep. You're Power Girl," Kate agrees in a fairly cheerful tone. "It's a pleasure to meet you." She squints at the mansion for a second, tilting her head while she studies it. "Yeah. People ge jealous and they want to believethat other people aren't really as great as they seem. To tear them down." She sighs softly, shaking her head. "And sometimes they just see a trainwreck and want to make sure they get all the gory bits for the eleven o'clock news." There is a pause before she adds, "I think someone is trying to sneak inside. That will go well..."
Karen Starr     Power Girl smiles. "mmhmm. The one that took on Superman and...ended up joining him." She then looks around to find someone who is actually trying to sneak in. From there, she actually uses her laser vision to discourage him from going in...and keeping it in the invisible spectrum. "he won't be getting in."
Kate Kane     "That was interesting. From what I hear you're a little different though. I don't think Superman would still be talking to me right now." There's another, quieter smile, and Kate nods slowly as she watches the poor sleuth dash away from the mansion. She shakes her head slowly. "Should just be glad Thor didn't catch him," she mutters quietly. "Actually, he might like a photo shoot. Anyway. I was about to ask if you were in town for long but that's kind of a silly question under the circumstances."
Karen Starr     "Kinda taking a look at the Avengers actually. Seeing if they're like the JL, And...Thor's one of the Avengers, huh? I bet if he caught them, there'd be hell to pay. I dunno how long I'll be. Maybe take in the sights, get a bite to eat. Stuff like that."
Kate Kane     "Pretty sure," Kate responds with regard to Thor, tilting her head. "You haven't been in these parts for that long, that's right," she muses, perhaps to herself. "Well, if you're looking for something to eat I know a great pizzeria nearby... And a deli. My father loves the delis out here." She shrugs her shoulders slowly before adding, "I know you're probably not going to want to go have lunch in full costume with a random groupie but I can at least point it out for you?" Something about that has the young woman grinning again.
Karen Starr     "Oh yeah. That'd be like Stark going to a schwarma king in full armor and eating." Power Girl says quietly. "All right, so where at?"
Kate Kane     "There's a great deli two blocks over that way-" Kate breaks into direction mode, with accompanying hand gestures. "-Pastrami's actually amazing. The pizza place is cool, they have a great margherita. I'm told that the sausage is fantastic but I don't do meat and dairy so I haven't actually checked it out," Kate continues as she relates her favourite dishes and locations. "And Stark would do that, I bet. I mean, people know who he is under there. But I get you."
Karen Starr Power Girl says, "the key was full armor." She then smiles. "I'll have to check it out.....out of costume anyways. Any particular reason why you like them? or are they really that good?""
Kate Kane     "Honestly? I used to go there with my mom," Kate responds, her smile fading only slightly as she does. "My dad won't go back these days but I was thee earlier. It's still amazing. You won't regret going," the woman assures, burying her hands into her pockets as she does. "Promise."
Karen Starr Power Girl nods softly. 'all right. I'll head there later. It's probably my first time in new york, so I appreciate you being nice."
Kate Kane     "Of course," Kate agrees immediately. "You're being nice to me." She shrugs at that and then takes a deep breath in a measured way. "I should probably go back down to street level and leave you alone. Enjoy your lunch." Kate waves and moves toward the edge of the building.
Karen Starr     "Actually, let me take you down there." Power Girl says offering a hand to Kate. "And I can be discreet."
Kate Kane     "Oh! Thank you," Kate enthuses immediately. She reaches otu to take the hand being offered without hesitation. "Discretion is the better part of valor." Implied compliments. The only reason it's clear is probably the way Kate's smile brightens when she speaks.
Karen Starr     Power Girl smiles. "All right, against me, stand on one of my feet and keep your arms around me." She gives instructions quietly until she does what she's told. Finally, she says 'ready?" And she lifts off of the building, landing on the ground on the other side. But she's really close to Power Girl when she does that.
Kate Kane     Kate is good at following instructions. She leans into Power Girl and stands on her right foot as asked, wrapping her arms around the woman's figure as she does. A deep breath is taken and Kate nods. "Ready," she agrees, holding the Kryptonian tightly against herself. And then they are flying... When they hti the ground Kate is still holding on for a moment. It takes a half second to sink in that they've landed. "That was amazing," she murmurs, tilting her head. "I mean. You hear that all the time, but. Thank you. It's been nice getting to talk."
Karen Starr Power Girl smiles softly. "Thank you as well. It's rare that I just get to talk to someone." She says with a smile. "And thank you for being so nice. I'm not exactly fond of the media." She then smiles. "I'll stop into the pizzaria first, then the deli. For now, see ya later." She says lifting into the air....and disappearing.
