Owner Pose
Kaelyn So it's late afternoon, and for various reasons people are over at the coffee shop. There are a few students here, some pre-frosh folks, ie freshmen before they become freshmen, even plenty of students! And off in a corner is a tall, very curvy redhead sitting in a half-booth. She's got her hat, a witches hat of all things next to her as she relaxes. The girl having this bright grass green drink near her, probably something to do with Japanese style green tea, but why it's opaque is anyone's guess.. Kae takes a sip on the drink and exhails gently after taking a deep breath. She's got what appears to be a very old book, or that, considerng the area, it's probably a reproduction of a very old book... Still she's enjoying reading the leatherbound tome as it were while she sips on her green tea late.
Breath Lyssa stalks in irritably in a gas station work uniform. He pushes past everything to get to the front counter, then looks around over it to see who is working.

On seeing someone in back, he squeaks, "Hey! You!", waving at whoever it is until he gets their attention. He glares sheathed daggers at them, then counts off on two fingers. "Clothes. Bathroom." One of the baristas apologetically brings over a reusable shopping bag of stuff and hands it over.

He snatches it out of their hand and looks through it for a moment, then snarls out a soft, "Thank you SO much. You. can. not. EVEN." He glares off at a wall and makes a strangly hand motion at it.
Wu     Alice quietly enters the coffee shop, looking as cop-like as possible, then smiling wickedly as a few of the more obvious stoner types decide now might be a good time to be anywhere else. Sometimes it's good to be a cop.
She notes the disrupted line and the strange guy at the head of it staring away and making gestures. Her hand goes reflexively to the pendant of Guanyin hanging suspended from her neck by red silk. An appraising look, a satisfied expression, the hand is removed and Alice scans the customers instead.
"Oh, hello ... Ms. Silverleaf was it?" she asks as she approaches Kaelyn. "You're in my neck of the woods today. And I have that address for you."
She waits for an invitation to sit, or not.
Breath Lyssa slips in back into the employee area, accompanied by the barrista, and dissapears for awhile.
Kaelyn Kae blinks and looks over the upper edge of the leather bound tome of hers, both peering at the folks being disrupted by the person in a gas station outfit, then the policeman. She tilts her head, and finally recognizes Alice and grins "Hallo!" she says, now closing the massive book and setting it next to her. Kae now reveals the fact she has a pressed grilled sandwitch and a couple cookies as well as some bagel chips! There's also her green drink. She then motions to sit down and neatly pushes the plate with the fresh bagel chips between the two... "Welcome to share if you like, I got an order and got waaaay too many... Help your self." she says with a grin...
Wu     Alice takes the proffered seat.
"Bribing a police officer is a criminal offense," she says in a deadpan voice. She takes one of the bagel chips. "Accepting bribes is also a criminal offense," she adds before popping it in her mouth. She goes silent briefly as she chews.
"I have the address for that antique curios shop I'd mentioned earlier," she finally continues, fumbling in her inner pocket for her notebook, finding the right page, and turning it to face Kaelyn. "If Ms. Derleth is on duty, drop my name. We have a relationship."
Kaelyn Kae glances at the card now curiously, looking the information over, before she tugs her wallet out of a jeans pocket. She sets the card into it and back in goes the wallet. It's a little tomboyish, but the rather incredibly effiminate 'witch' sometimes needs to do that stuff! Kae sips more on her drink, the girl, then grins at Alice "Don'tcha know, us shop owners gotta pay our dues and protection bribes right?" she says with a wink... Though if Wu has figured out even half of what Kae may be, then most folks who try and take up a racketerring stunt with this girl may end up with more than what they want to chew.

Kae tilts her head curiously "So how's your day been?" she asks curiously, the woman genuinely curious about the other. She then holds up the leather tome she has "Found this in Salem.... Am reading through it before I determine if I'm going to put it up for sale or stick it into my collection." she adds.
Breath Lyssa slips back out from the back of the employee area as inoffensively as possible, looking much different and quite a bit less irritable. She clutches the shopping bag to her chest a bit, holding a small cup of brewed coffee that she acquired from somewhere, and looks around at people warily. Apparently deciding that hanging out by the counter isn't a good way to not be noticed, she slips back into the tables in the part of the room that is suitable for clandestine rendevous such as the one you are presently engaged in. She glances around a little bit to see if anybody is staring at her still, then quietly tries to slide into a chair so she can stop drawing more attention.
Wu     "Salem. That was where ... your witch trials were held, right? Where a bunch of poor souls were accused of witchcraft who may or may not have been crafters."
She breaks off as a waiter arrives, briefly ordering without bothering to look at the menu. Lyssa's comical attempts to not draw attention, of course, are a magnet for cop eyes. Alice looks over again, recognizes the gas attendant from before, notes the costume change, then apparently decides to keep an eye on him.
This, in the trade, is called "attention".
"I wonder how many of them were..." she muses. "Witches, I mean. As opposed to delusional."
Kaelyn Kae umms "Well a real honest to gosh witch? NOt any from any of my studies. Folks that hung out with witches or got help from -real- witches or folks that knew a lot of holistic cures and local herbs? Plenty... Usually folks accused were folks that pissed off other folks who had no worry at all to accuse someone..." she says and shrugs... "Nope, I remember one... I read about it in one of my books.. They did the rock test where she had rocks tied to her and was tossed into a deep river, if she somehow floated up with the rock on her she was a witch, if not well, I guess god would save her soul... She turned her self into an otter, swam free, and then went to Charles town where she lived a good life and had 3 children." she says and laughs... "That was one of my ancestors, I have a copy of her journal here somewhere..."

Kae's eyes now drift to Lyssa... She offers a smile and a bit of a wave "Bein' all nervous like that makes ya stand out more so." she whispers, and somehow even at this distance her whisper would carry to Lyssa and only Lyssa. (wu's magic-o-meter might pick up on that little cantrip Kae used)
Breath Lyssa unthinkingly crosses her legs and smooths her skirt out, looking through the bad for something that apparently isn't there. Its absence is apparently only slightly missed with faint dissapointment. Then somebody whispers at her and she looks over, then down at herself a bit, then frowns a bit as she turns the whole situation over in her head a bit.

"Uhm... Y-eah, but my day sucked just that bad."
Kaelyn Kae glances to Alice now, the phone ringing catching her attention, before she looks back to Lyssa. "Something the matter?" she asks curiously, a redy eyebrow raising as she adds to her question "Ya seem like youv'e seen better days, something happen?" Kae then munches now on a bagel chip before she takes a long pull on her green tea late.
Breath Lyssa uhms.. "I had to cover a rush for someone, and I get really, really peopled out when I am at work. Aaaand it was a really busy day. And I hate my job on days like this. I just want to go hide and cry for awhile." She sips on some coffee and bites her lip. "I think I'll be okay though..." She uhms.. "I'm waiting for somebody."
Wu     "Look," Alice says at the end of her conversation that seemed to primarily consist of numbers, "let me put it to you this way. You're supposed to be solving my office problems, not adding to them." Her voice sounds reasonable but there's signs of iron beneath the pleasant tone. "I'm out here working a case; if there's paperwork to fill, fill it. Don't ask *me* how. I've got no idea. It's why they assigned me an assistant in the first place."
The phone closes with an audible click.
Closes, yes. It's an actual retro phone, not a portable computing device masquerading as one.
"Sorry about that," she mutters, turning her attention back to Kae, then stopping as she notices the conversation in progress with Lyssa, choosing instead to observe for a bit, pausing only for the delivery of her order, which turns out to be a rather complicated arrangement of small and large cups, some water (in one of the large cups) and some tea leaves.
She commences an ornately silly-looking process of brewing tea.
Kaelyn Kae grins a bit and oohs "Nice choice, I usually go with the iced green tea late...." She says and gives her drink a bit of a shake. She then turns to look at Lyssa curiously and oohs "Ok, well I hope they find you quickly then? " She says and smiles again, then Kae offers the tome to Alice, tilting her head curiously "Yer welcome to look through the thing some, it has some interesting information in it and a nice viewpoint on the whole Salem Massacre..."
Breath Lyssa smiles back and looks around again, hmmming quietly and sipping on the coffee. She looks up at the clock and sighs a little, wiggling her toe in the air.
Wu     Out of courtesy more than interest, Alice flips through the tome, still watching Lyssa out of the corner of her eye as she reads. "This looks very ... complete," she finally comments. "A very detailed record of the murders committed in the name of hysteria and superstition."
Her attention switches to Kae. "An otter. That wouldn't be my first choice, frankly, but I'm not from around here. And we've never quite had the witchery mania that your continent had. Still has sometimes..."
"I would have selected a carp."
Kaelyn Kae shrugs slowly "Who knows, but it was a nice read... Am thinking posisbly shifting from mammal to mammal is easier than shifting from mammal to fish." she adds.. of course the difference in Mass done with a spell while being sunk in water would have beein incredible to pull off... Think about it, the lady broke a conservation of mass law." she says with a slight grin... "Or maybe bent it bad, who knows..." Kae then looks to Lyssa and smiles again before she asks "And who or what are you waiting on?"
Breath Lyssa blinks at being addressed. "Um. One of the baristas is giving me a ride when they get off work. I said I would help with some stuff..." She tapers off a bit, then scratches the back of her head a bit because that seemed vague even to her. "Water is pretty massive, isn't it?"
Wu     "Carp can get rather large," Alice says. "They can grow at a fantastic daily rate. You could probably call that the Carp Weight Diem."
She cooly sips her tea, showing no signs of having laid that bomb of a pun.
The sudden shift in topic in Lyssa's conversation definitely catches her attention now, however. It's no longer a single eye on ... and now with the switch in clothing things get murkier. More data points to gather and collate.
"Water is massive or not according to how much is present," she corrects.
Kaelyn Kae grins a bit "Maybe, but you gotta think of the era, this person may not have seen a carp... If what is said is true and all, then maybe they just went with what they were familiar with?" She adds and grins a bit.. Otters can stay under water for 30 or more minutes.. And small enough to get her out of the ropes too." She adds... "Anyhoo it's a nifty read." Kae looks back to Lyssa "Just like anything, mass as relation to volume and all..." Kae then stands and starts to make for the exit "Well I need to wander now... I'll be seeing y'all..."
Breath Lyssa sort've gestures vaguely. "It's a whole river. I mean, you don't have to conserve mass if you can just dump it, right? Right, later.." She waves with her fingers, daintily.
Breath Lyssa uhmms, "Or like, it could just be big, I dunno." heat-tilty shrug. "Um.. Sorry.
