| Kaelyn | Kae's home is kind of a marvel, there's no way this much room can fit into a loft above a small building like her shop, but somehow it does... There's lots of rooms and well wierdness abounds. There's of course the flying rug above a pedastal, there's a bird stand, where there's a large black raven. At least that's what it seems like. As Kae arrives, it asks, in a prim and proper English accent "I thought you said you wouldn't be having company any time soon?" Kae stares at the raven and shrugs "Plans change now and then, and no I'm not going to erase their memories of coming up here..." She states and shrugs, motioning to the two. "They're metas." she then motions to Alice "She practices as well.." She adds again and the Raven nods "Ah, ok..." The raven turns its head to look at Bjorn and Alice sidelong before saying "Good day you two, I see that you're both rather dirty... Just step on the grey rug with the runes around its edge and stand still..." He says just as Kae does so.. A pentagram forms at her feet and sweeps up her, ridding the woman of gore, and sending her hair flying upward as if a wind passed over. Kae looks back at them and smiles before wandering into what has to be the din. In there is Wendy and Tanya, they both say "Tina went to make tonight's delivery!" Before they glance at the other two, and laugh "Ahah! So you've been discovered allready!" Kae then shrugs slowly "LIke we all werent when that mind fuddling Mutant walked inside earlier, along with Juggernaut..." she says and flops on a chair befor elifting what has to be a brass-wrapped wand, and touches what looks like a norse ouroborus symbol on it. The crystal ball sitting on a desk suddenly lifts off the desk and well unwraps, and unwraps and unwraps, turning into a curved screen some 70 inches across, that begins playing the Movie Equilibrium... |
| Vorn | Bjorn steps through the portal have accepted the inventation "Thank you Mam for allowing us into your home" he says and gives pause "Hmmm...considering everything here, One is not surprised you lived in BludHaven" he states. How did he know that from just stepping in? The world may never know But still he offers the raven a bow "Good day to you as well...and ahh. One is not a meta" ponders "Actually that could be debated" that actually gives him great pause as if debating it. "Anyways, thank you" he says Cordially. And with that once Kaelyn is done, he steps onto the grey rug standing as still as a statue. Once he is cleaned of grime he steps off the rug And he just has to stop and stare as the T.V or enterainment center just begins to unwrap. That is impressive to say the least "Juggernaut eh? He is fun to fight" he says off handedly |
| Wu | "You're more open about your practice than I am," Alice comments as she waits her turn at the rug. "I find being too open paints a target." The pentagon forms, sweeps up, gets stopped part-way up and regarded with interest, then released to finish its task. "It's why I chiefly rely on hexes and charms instilled in objects." She eyes the raven with a bit of suspicion. "Only two legs at least," she mutters. "I'm going to be guessing that social pleasantries aside, we're going to be taking and asking questions of each other?" she guesses aloud. "If so, I'm also going to have to checek: will my telephone work here? I may get calls from the precinct." |
| Kaelyn | Wendy pops up and calls out "Imma go grab the leftover coffee and Bengets!" Yes she's exhuberant, Tanya athen glances to Alice "Oh yah, normal technology works just fine here, just don't take pictures, they wont' work... Also there's wards and hexes on this place that prevent folks from spouting about what goes on behind the scenes here." Kae glances at Tanya and shrugs slowly... Then she grins at Alice "Sooo, what generally happense hen someone comes into an Artificers place of power and starts causing crap? Specially when they're allready part of the magical community at large? But yah, I am a bit open about magic use, except I have an obscuring enchantment on my ring, and I can cast that illusion if I need be. So say someone wants to give away who, what I am, then often times the little magic will seep in and keep them from telling exacting details.. Also you can't shoot my photograph, or video me though normal means when I'm using magic, something about how the my aura reacts on electronic surveilance..." She says and shrugs. Kae then adds "Also, it can be tiring to cut use that stuff, which is, for the most part, why I generally try to avoid prolonged combat. I can do it, and then there will come a time I have to drop the obscuration, or even stop using outward evocations, and have to rely mostly on my artifacts..." Next she pulls one of her bracelets off, the one with the large blue stone... "This has magic stored in it, I can use this to actually cast instead of refining magic to use spells on the fly... It helps a lot.." Kae then flips the bracelet to Alice, and now looks to Bjorn "You're welcome to have a seat." she say swith a smile... "Needless to sayl, while my obscuring magic probably won't work too well on you two. I'd ask that you try to at least keep what I am a little secret... While the higher ups in the magical orders don't mind us acting in a way to help the populace as a whole they don't like us going around screaming "Heey lookie at me! I'm a witch!"" |
| Vorn | Crusader gently touches the missing chunks of his armor and grunts at it. He mutters something in some odd language - dosn't sound like any language on earth. But none the less he was paying attention to look to Kae "Well..." he looks around "One would recommond you use how you say... strengthening enchantment? One such a seat. We are particularly heavy" which is putting it mildly. He looks over to Alice "So, One take it you are also magic." seems he is the odd one out here! "And a police official... if we are inferring correctly" idly he has by now placed a call to the boston police about the whole incident...though he gave himself off as John Doe. But none the less he was very curiouse Curiouse enough to begin taking closer look at various objects "So you are...besides being a withc...you are what the kids would call an Artificer? That is term One has seen used in fantasy books of various kinds. " he asks in wonder |
| Wu | "Wanda could certainly learn that lesson a little," Alice remarks a bit cattily, if obliquely. "I keep my enchantments in the realm of (sometimes barely) plausible deniability. If I show my full strength, someone is going to be dying soon and taking my secrets to the grave." The grave look on her face vanishes at Crusader's question. "Magic? Of course not!" she says, mischief dancing in her eyes. "I'm just a trick shooter and I have a really good formula for flash paper that serves as a weapon in a crunch." She glances over at Kaelyn. "See?" she asks. And then, completely at odds with her dour mannerisms, she releases a giggle. A small one. Short. Choked-off quickly. But an honest to goodness giggle. "But yes," she says, her face clamping down behind its mask again, "I am a police officer. I consider myself a police officer first, in fact, in that it is the occupation I chose long before this..." She gestures at her hair. "...was inflicted upon me. I am Detective Alice Gulliver of the Hong Kong Police, attached as part of an international task force to the Gotham City Police Department and duly deputized for law enforcement authority." With each force named she flips a lapel of her vest. A gold badge for the HKP, and an unusual and rare silver one for GCPD. "Aside from that I have a title in mystical circles I'd rather not repeat here because it's embarrassingly pompous." She glowers. "Not my choice." |
| Kaelyn | Kae looks to Crusader... "Umm seriously? Sit down, the furniture can handle a dragon sitting on it, it can handle you ok?" she then umms "Dont ask about the dragon, that is a more embarrassing moment in my life as a journeyman..." She adds. Then the bengets and coffe is brought up and Kae begins nibbling on one of the fried bits of dough. "These are good Wendy..." Tanya returns with Kae's personally favorite drink, another green tea late... Iced of course. She takes a long sip and then her eyes go back to Bjorn. "Anyho, have a seat, the chairs here won't break. If you're curious about any of the baubels I have here you're more than welcome to look, just don't take anything off the walls or the pedastals without asking, some things get... angry when you disturb them." she says and rubs the back of her neck again... She grins a bit and motions to some of the various contraptions.. "I came from a magical family, sooo both mother and dah being capable with the art and all I was also capable. And theres' one thing about magic once you get some... If you don't use it, it will use you... Magic has to move.." she says and grins a bit... Wendy and Tanya both say "We're going to our rooms Master! Got College tomorrow..." Kae's eyebrows raise at the master bit, the girls know full well it bugs Kae, Kae being one of those types that isn't too hung up on formalities... As the girls go to their room she sighs and gives a bit of a grin "Since I got my Sanctum I'm required to take journemen and apprentices on board... Wendy is my Apprentice, Tanya and Tina, the twins are my journeymen..." She says and smiles again as she takes a pull on her drink. |
| Vorn | Crusader nods and tentively takes a seat - clearly he has had /alot/ of bad experinces with seats if he is being so cautiouse about it. But once situated he hmmms "Well we will take your word for it. One is not too concerned with the working of magics, though it is interesting how you have incorporated it with technology" he watches the others go to their room "Well they at least seem very enthruastic about learning if they are worried about college" it seems the masyer bit flew completely over his head Crusader than looks to Alice "Well than it is an honor to make your aquiantance...and it is relieving to see such a dedicated officer" he sates. His eyes wander of the presented badags with some wonder. "Though we can understand the 'not my choice' bit ourselves" he claims. |
| Wu | Alice nods in acknowledgement and thanks at Crusader's praise. "I'm just following in my father's footsteps. Not a dedicated officer, a ... pious daughter, more. He was in the Hong Kong Police as well, you understand." She brushes her hair. "This came from my mother." A quick glance over at Kaelyn. "I don't have apprentices. My position is hereditary. I got this when my mother died; the baton was passed, so to speak. I'm not sure what will happen when one of the things I fight gets me, since I'm without issue." She turns back to Crusader. "So really you're seeing the behaviour of a girl with daddy issues," she says with a sly grin, "not a dedicated officer of the law." |
| Kaelyn | Kae blinks and tilts her head "Oooh well yah some magics are hereditary, well most are. Specially if you go back far enough and all and then most folks who practice have someone of magic ancestry.." She adds and then she looks at Bjorn curiously.. The chair he is sitting on doesn't even really give, cept it's massively comofortable... That's really about it. Kae eats another benget and leans back in her seat "You guys are welcome to coffe, I think I have soda too in the fridge..." She points at the open kitchen that is quite visible from the living room... "Also you can hang out here as long as you like.. I don't get to have guests over very often saddly, and for good reason I guess..." Kae then grins a bit and finally starts tugging most of her enchanted items off including the backpack... the insects she had now fly off to land in a shelf, with a number of other clockworks, most of those hacing the jewels in the back. They're all on the top two shelves. The shelves below have keys in the cockorks instead of the jewels. Below that are steins, a collection of drink wear and mugs and the like... Kae then motions now to the fridge, and a pitcher of iced tea floats over and lights gently on the coffee table nearby, as well as a couple glasses... She also motions with the same hand as a couple plates float over to the group and a benget floats over to land lightly on the plate as powdered sugar matterializes just above it and drift gently down onto the confection... |
| Vorn | "Thank you...unlike most constructs we have seen, One does not need to eat...but admittedly, one still enjoys doing so" and with that Crusader reaches over and takes a benget in his hand. The tendrills that make up Crusaders beard - stretch out and pick up the pitchen to pour into a glass befor setting it back down gently. Considering how large and armored Crusader is...being gentle with his actualy hands is likely not among them. By this time something usual became evident - his once badlt damaged armor has slowly begun to heal of its own accord apparently "Being magical seems a... lonely life if you generally have to erase the memories of your ghosts" he glances to Alice "Or simply dislike it" He looks to Alice "But...no. One does not really understand. We are a bit....how you say" ponders "Busy upstairs One beleives" |
| Wu | "It looks like the more formal schools lead to better living circumstances," Alice says with a grin as she looks around the place admiringly. "I have a small apartment here and a smaller one in Hong Kong. Of course I do this off a cop's salary so..." The benget is accepted and nibbled on out of courtesy. "But the hereditary angle is stranger in my family. I didn't inherit anything--not even the hair--until my mother died. My mother was more like you. Before she met my father, in fact, her home was apparently much like yours, only not clockworks, more naked spells. Upon meeting my father she moved into a luxury apartment; which is where I grew up. But it was as normal a place as possible. I didn't even know what she did, not really. Then, one night, I woke up and had red hair. And magic. And no mother." It's all stated rather matter-of-factly, but it's also obvious that she's clamping very tight controls down. Her face is now wooden in its motionlessness. "Then I was told I was 'The August Wu of the Coral Island' and that I was to follow in my mother's footsteps. And I got to watch my father fall apart until he died of natural causes. 9mm diameter lead slugs in the heart naturally leading to death, you understand." Her voice drones on mercilessly. "And I was told I had to take my mother's role and continue the line. After I watched what that line did to the man whose footsteps I followed." |
| Kaelyn | Kae ooh's and nods... "Ummm I think I fall in the more 'traditiona' learning style than anything else. I was born able to see and use magic, I just had to learn how to control it. As far as Mages go I'm ok, I guess, I'm good at Artificing, and solid everywhere else really, But i'm yong... And Honestly, I am definately no sorcerer, or sorceresss supreme, though I think at some point I am supposed to go meet them." she says and grins cheerfully "I honestly look forward to that meeting. It should prove intresting.." she then ummms."And sorry about your family and all.. " she says kind of at a loss on that whole thing... "So on brighter notes how are you guys liking it here in the states?" she asks curiosly, now trying to shift things to a lighter subject. |
| Vorn | Crusader cants his head. "One does not understand nor see the corralation between your mothers' role and your fathers' death." he states seeming confused by this. "Still we are sorry to hear such tradgedies have happened" he looks to Kae, he wasn't even sure what sorcerer surpreme was. Sure the part of him that was formally human was superstitioues, but definintly did not know much about any of this. "Been living here a good 10 or so years. It is good place and getting better, though still needs much work" |
| Wu | "Stephen was pretty nice, actually," Alice muses. "I met him when I was a teenaged brat, before I knew about any of this. I should look him up sometime." She shakes her head and returns herself to the present. "The correlation," she explains to Crusader, "is that he was deeply in love with her and when she died, so did a part of him. He got sloppy in his police work and let himself get ambushed. I think in the end it was more merciful than continuing as he was. If I had time or respect for psychiatrists I'm sure there'd be a few years of just talking about him." The abrubt subject change almost seems welcome if the relief flooding Alice's face is anything to go by. "America is interesting. I'm in Gotham, so it's more violent than New York is. Probably about 20% less violent than the Hong Kong underworld, I would guess. It's been somewhat of a vacation in that regard. For that my supernatural activities have shot up beyond anything I'd ever expected." |
| Kaelyn | Kae peers at Crusader and tries to explain a little bit "The Sorcerer Supreme, is the top of the mountain as it were when it comes to Mages.. I might be somewhere slightly above the middle.. Even with all this.." She says and motions around the building. "I can do a lot with my magics and all, but I'm limited in some cases by how much magic I can harness at one time.. I can do some crazy things, given time, but well, He can litterally do those same things that might take me a day of casting to do in an instant... He really doesn't have a whole lot of limitation on how much magic he can harness at one time, and how much stamina he has too.. IT's part of the whole Sorcerer Supreme thing..." She says with a slight grin.. "Even crazier, I'm 29 and he's not much older'n I am... And I still can't hold anywhere near a candle to him." Kae adds and shrugs slowly "So I gotta be creative, very creative." she says and then tilts her head as she studies Alice... "Soo Hong Kong is more violent than Gotham? I though Gotham's upper echelon type baddies were some pretty nasty guys... I mean, I really wouldn't want to run into the Joker in a crowded alley..." She taps her chin.. "Though, I think I met Harley Quinn not too long ago, I think, after the fact, I may have inadvertently helped her when her mooks nearly ran me over trying to make sure she stayed out of trouble... I kind aof sicked them on this one reporter who sometimes writes nasty little articles about all the 'fake' things I sell in this store..." Kae grins impishly. "It was funny watching them march along on either side of her acting like body guards." |
| Vorn | "One sees. It is certainly alot to take in, that is for certain" he says "But the universe is a crazy, wild place filled with all sorts of mysterious. Makes it more interesting if you ask us" he claims. Crusader chuckles, before looking to Alice "One does not have enough infomation to comment on that...and find that humans tend to skew results in one way or another. But still if you are finding it a welcome break, this is a good thing" he looks to Kaelyn "You have an odd sense of humor" he says with some wonder. And with that he stands up "But if you ladies excuse me" he bows "One must be off - as even constructs have doctors appointments" he says |
| Wu | "Yeah, about that. I'm really sorry. I tossed that 'grenade' of mine without thinking how close you'd be if it didn't land right. I trust it didn't hurt you too badly?" Alice looks actually remorseful as she glances Crusader over. "I'm not usually with people who go running TOWARD the strange beast. I'm usually the only one doing that. The rest are falling back and telling me to stop trying to get my fool self killed." She stands as Crusader gets ready to leave, inclining her head respectfully. "If you find yourself in Gotham," she says, "feel free to call upon me. I'm usually in the Major Crimes Unit when I'm not out on the streets." |
| Kaelyn | Kae stands now to, blinking as she thiks a moment "You need me to send you somewhere? Or can you get to wherever you need to go easily?" she asks curiously, the woman then fetches arather unremarkable looking nickle ring, which she hands to Bjorn. "Me bringing you here has kind of made it so that I can maybe help ya get back to New York pretty easily if you like..." she says and then adds "Just visualize here you want to go in New York, and say its name.. The ring will open up and make a pathway to that location.. Then just step through and you're there..." She says with a grin. Kae's allways wanting to help and all... Her eyes drift to Alice "I can hand you a ring such as this as well if you like, you can just go where it is you want to go.... But that's up to you." she says and shrugs... "Since I brought y'all here, I might as well make it easy on both of you to get back to your apartments or homes if you like, just be careful to pick a space that's not hugely public ok?" she says with a slight smile. |
| Vorn | Crusader chuckles "It is no worries - One is quite tough, and a bit of a fool themselves" he smiles gentle "But indeed, if one is in need of assistance will gladly call upon you" he says to hear before looking to Kae and than the ring. He flips the ring and catches it in his guantlet, when he opens his hand the ring seems to be just gone. "One will keep this for an emergency use, but One is not in large rush, just need to clear head is all...that and admittedly One is very bad with names" or more accurately, the only spot he can think of is his store which would be giving away his secret Identity. Yea, not happening. He offers Kae and Alice one last bow "You have a good night Mams" and with that he carefully manuvers the apartment to take his leave quietly |
| Wu | "Oh, am I being shown out too?" Alice asks with a grin. "I was just being respectful, standing when he stood." Her hand fishes in her pocket for her sheaf of papers. "I have all I need to get home right here. Along with things to ... well, you know. Explode monstrous creations." She hovers uncertainly as if not knowing if she's overstaying her welcome. "Truth be told," she confesses, "I get to speak with practitioners so rarely that it's somewhat relaxing not having to be on my guard all the time thinking of lies to explain strangeness." |
| Kaelyn | Kae blinks "Noo yer not being shown out, I'm just giving you a ring of transport so you can use it when you're ready." Kae says and rubs at the back of her neck.. "Stay as long as you like." she adds and motions around the place "If need be there's a guest room at the end of the hall you can have if you're tired and just want to crash here instead of heading home and all.. If you don't need the ring that's ok too." she says with a smile and glances around... "Anyhow, between teaching, enchanting and those doodads, I'm pretty beat my self... LIke I said before, I don't have Stephen's endurance." She says with a slight smile... |
| Wu | "Well, let me show you how I do things downtown then," Alice says with a grin. She selects one of her rice papers, licks the back of it and sticks it to a nearby wall. Magical energies clash as her magics interact with existing ones. She watches with an eyebrow raised, amused at the resulting light show. When it finally settles down, there's a blurry area on the wall. "Farewell Ms. Silverleaf. Feel free to call upon me at any time if you need my aid." She steps to the wall and vanishes. As does the blurry area she walked through. As does the rice paper she used to make it. |
