Owner Pose
Aquagirl After last night, Lorena felt pretty bad. Between just leaving and destroying a punching bag. She just felt really rough. She needed to make amends. So here she is. What does she have with her? Well its not cash, that's for certain. Its gold dubloons! She gives them over to a man who looks suspiciously like Vince Vaughn and then moves over to the exercise equipment. She gets on a treadmill and goes for a run.
Erin Beaumont Erin Beaumont steps in, wearing her usual button-up shirt (taut around her chest) and a short skirt, with matching heels. She quickly spots the woman, takes a deep breath, then approaches, heels clicking against the wooden floor. It quiets as she reaches the carpet. "Lorena, was it? From the other day?" She hooks her hands together in front of her.
Aquagirl Lorena Marquez continues running. "Yes that is me, Erin." She states as she picks up the pace. "I just wanted to pay the owner for the punching bag I took down last time. I didn't want to just let things go. Anyway sorry I left. There was a lot going through my mind."
Erin Beaumont Erin Beaumont bites on her lower lip for a moment before asking, "Would you like to talk about it? I'm no professional, but I -did- take Psychology in college." There's a pause, then, "And I'd hate to leave you upset if it was something I said or did."
Aquagirl Lorena Marquez frowns, "You mentioned about the ocean smelling bad. You know? That is sorta my home. Also I'm not Atlantean. I don't know what I am." She frowns and rubs the back of her head. Quietly she steps down from the treadmill before she outspeeds it.
Erin Beaumont Erin Beaumont nods slowly. "I see. First, your name is Lorena, yes? I can't recall if I ever got your first name, but Lorena could be Spanish, Portugese, Italian...I'm not sure. I just assumed you were Atlantean, due to...well, your Atlantean attire. As for the first part..." She takes a deep breath, then adjusts her glasses. "I don't go out much. My idea of a vacation is relaxing at home, or at an indoor pool, or a resort, maybe. Others would prefer a camping trip, hiking, exploring the town...or going to the beach. I won't lie to you and say I love the smell of the ocean, Lorena, because I respect you. I just hope you understand that that was solely my own opinion, and was not meant to be given as fact."
Aquagirl Lorena Marquez frowns, "I was born in Mexico. I moved to San Diego when I was a little girl. When I was 12 a chunk of San Diego sunk. I was there. I watched my parents and a bunch of my friends drown. Thousands of others. It was... a nightmare. A handful of us survived because some scientist created a serum to protect people in the event of the city sinking. It was derived from Aquaman's DNA." She frowns and just rubs her head.
Erin Beaumont Erin Beaumont nods again. "I'm sorry to hear that." She pauses, then sighs. "I'm terrible when it comes to things like this. I know nothing I say will change anything. I just...know that that must have been tough for you." She sighs again. "Still...I believe that's pretty obvious. You're Mexican, primarily, with minor Atlantean alterations, plain and simple. The difference in DNA between an Atlantean and a human must be very minor for it to be compatible, yes?" She smirks. "So you're Mexican. Case closed.
Aquagirl Lorena Marquez frowns, "I am in between. I have to stay in the water. If I don't I will dehydrate and likely die. So I am more Atlantean then Human I think." She frowns. "Anyway, I don't have much of a choice. I live in the ocean. But it's got some perks. Faster, stronger, can breathe under water and chat with fish. Its kinda cool."
Erin Beaumont "Then you're Mexican-Atlantean. Does it really even matter? You're -you-. Will attaching a label to your ethnicity really make you happy?" She sighs, posture drooping. "Then again, maybe I shouldn't say that. I'm as American as they come, with a bit of French and German in me. So perhaps it -is- a bigger deal to you. If I were you, though, I'd just say I was Mexican by birth, and Atlantean-raised."
Aquagirl Lorena Marquez frowns, "Erin, Its beyond race. Atlanteans are a complete off-shoot of the human race. They are very different. For instance you can do things I can't do now. For instance, You can stay on the surface and lead a completely normal life. Even if you have crazy powers you have freedom to do whatever. I can't. I have to be in the water. Within 2 days I will start dehydrating and can wind up dead."
Erin Beaumont Erin Beaumont raises an eyebrow at Lorena. "There's things you can do that -I- can't do, either. You have superstrength, you can breathe underwater, you can communicate with marine life...I can't pretend to have the answers you seek, but you need to see the positives, as well." She folds her arms beneath her bust.
Aquagirl Lorena Marquez looks at Erin and smiles, "Yes I can do that stuff. It just hurts when people talk bad about the ocean. Its home. Plus I've gotten to see some amazing things. I'm just starting to come back to the surface again. The difference between the sea and the surface are just ... They are night and day. Walking the surface though.... I miss my original home." She frowns.
Erin Beaumont "How young were you when you left Mexico? Perhaps you could look around there for some old memories. The ocean's not too far away--better than, say, the American midwest." She smiles and sits down on a nearby weightlifting bench, ankles crossed. This business attire and serious demeanor fits her infinitely better than the hilariously small sports get-up she had on a few days ago.
Aquagirl Lorena Marquez sighs, "I was a baby when we left Tiajuana. My family moved to San Diego." She snickers a little, "You know? Maybe I could get you some stuff from Atlantis. The materals we have there are stronger then the stuff here. It might help to contain your bust line."
Erin Beaumont Erin Beaumont snickers. "You'd think so? Well...What kind of materials do they have? If they have something that's tough, but light and flexible, I'd be interested. Especially if it's good against blades and things like that, with Manhattan being Manhattan. Supers everywhere, you know?" A smirk appears on her lips. "I could give you my measurements and pay you, if you know any Atlantean tailors. Or whatever the Atlantean equivalent is."
Aquagirl Lorena Marquez stands up and steps closer to Erin. She pulls gently at the collar of her suit. "Feel." It is actually rather thin material but sturdy. Like it's designed a lot of wear and tear. "I wear this because I swim a lot. I put so much wear and tear on this uniform and short of getting chomped on by a shark, it can withstand a lot. The perk of it is, its light. Feels almost like I'm not wearing anything really. It makes it easier to dodge strikes."
Erin Beaumont Erin Beaumont raises an eyebrow, then stands up and tugs lightly at Lorena's collar. "Hm. That would be -amazing-. How does it hold up in a fight? Weaknesses, resistances...? How does it do against blades? Explosions? How do you clean it?"
Aquagirl Lorena Marquez laughs, "How do I clean it? I live in the water!" She snickers a little. "Well, I've sparred in this outfit with Aquaman, The biggest perk is being able to move. The scales act as some light plating. It might help with small weapons and knives. I don't really know because I'm dense enough to withstand that sort of attack. Its not really a super suit. Its just very durable and supportive. Both things you could use. I mean I wish we could help you with a full on super suit."
Erin Beaumont Erin Beaumont smirks again. "I don't think I'll need a whole suit. Hold on..." She reaches into her pocket and grabs a small pen, as well as a pad of sticky notes. After scribbling something down, she tears the sticky note off and hands it to Lorena. "I'm afraid I don't have any kind of waterproof paper on me, but here's my measurements. I should be heading home, but do let me know what you can do, alright? My phone number's there, too. Call if you need to."
Aquagirl Lorena Marquez smiles and nods, "Okay I will memories it and get a disposable phone. I can put it in a bag or something so I can carry it with me underwater. Anyway. Have a good evening. I am going to head to Atlantis. Be safe!" She smiles brightly. With that she heads out the door.
