Blueblood Blueblood, having dismissed the bones in his arms (but not hands!) can "swing," ape-like, between streetlights. 'Ape,' or 'bowling ball on a pair of rubber-bands,' same diff, right?! "Huah," he pronounces, the journey not actually effortless. "Huah." His parabolas are messy, but he makes it work. Practice makes perfect, or at least ... demonstrates there are safer ways to patrol!
Carol Danvers His method of transportation, while somewhat reminiscent of Spider-Man, is not nearly as graceful. Nevertheless, it does draw out the attention of Captain Marvel who was doing a flyby over the city, taking a quick look that all is as well as it can be. She descends from above and shifts into flying by Blueblood's side, "hello there," she greets, offering a formal salute, "mind if I ask where you're headed?"
Blueblood Blueblood over-extends, distracted! Fortunately he's a blubbery sort. Curling into a ball, he rolls reflexively through the omnipresent light trash of New York. "Agh! Jogging, I was... jogging. Flexing old muscles, trying to return to... fighting-trim."
Carol Danvers "Forgive the wording, but that seems a 'stretch' of the term jogging," Captain Marvel can't help but smirk at her own quip, as she shifts lower and decreases speed to maintain level with Blueblood. "I take it you're working your way out of retirement...?" It's a fair enough conclusion, based on his wording.
Blueblood Blueblood's arms return to expected width, with a moment's concentration. He rolls his shoulders, wincing. "... trying to. Exercising, meditating, eating more broccoli. I didn't make so big a dent, before -- I thought maybe, this time, who knows? It feels 'necessary.' Now is that time."
Carol Danvers "Having the drive is one thing..." Captain Marvel starts, as she moves to land when Blueblood forms his arms to a modicum of normal human appearance, "would you mind if I ask what experience you have that can help you in this arena? Personal experiences? Abilities? Seems like you somehow who got burnt in the past?"
Blueblood Blueblood nods. "Just another middle-of-the-road mutant. Staring down middle age, no less, in a cityful of kids who can snap their fingers and outdo me. I tried crime-fighting, properly, when I was ... y'know ... of a mind to change the world. Young and full of hormones and big ideas? Now I'm just a graying electrician with delusions of usefulness." He smirks.
Carol Danvers "A mutant? Mmm...ever had formal training in the use of your powers? Or did you do it all on your own?" Captain Marvel asks curiously, Blueblood doesn't give a 'trained' vibe perse, but never makes assumptions. "You do not that serving as a superhero of your own volition is not the only way to help the community, right?" Just a thought for him to consider.
Blueblood Blueblood shakes his head. "No, just experimentation. Hunches. Bad decisions. I've, ah, probably still got a rap-sheet, if no oustanding warrants. Schools usually laugh you out of admissions if it's bad enough, so I guess I just decided I'd better not."
Carol Danvers "Sounds to me like you should seriously reconsider the heroing path," Captain Marvel tries not to sound too harsh, but a rap-sheet is the exact opposite of what a hero is trying to do. "Just like that?" She asks when the school comment is made, "that's not a very heroic approach."
Blueblood Blueblood tamps down a sneer. "Your shoulders are pretty squared-off. Military, I bet, at some point. You can fly. Not unreasonable to assume you're bulletproof and can bench-press a jetliner. Some of us were more modestly-endowed, OK?!"
Carol Danvers "That's an awful lot of presumption on your part," Captain Marvel says, her blue settling on Blueblood in a penetrating gaze that tends to make most people uncomfortable. "I see telepathy is not one of your powers, you utterly failed to read me, that kind of mistake can get you dead real quick when you're fighting superpowered criminals."
Blueblood Blueblood wilts. No removal-of-vertebrae required. "I'm sorry, I'm just-- doing my best. Even if my best sucks."
Carol Danvers "It's a sentence like this that made me suggest you might consider not pursuiting a heroing career," Captain Marvel notes, "and there's nothing wrong with that. How about excelling at your profession? Building up mastery of your powers, simply for being a better 'you'. When you're better focused on yourself, than you could think of others," yes, Captain Marvel is always willing to offer support, tips, suggestions, but she usually doesn't sugar coat how she sees things.
