Owner Pose
Clint Barton     Clint Barton had been out of touch for a while, what with the alien invasion and whole Hydra thing, he had a lot to keep him hopping. Now that he was back he was hoping for a quick debriefing and a trip home to nap on his couch and watch old cowboy movies. Unfortunately, the message from Fury had other directions.

So heading to the training area in his uniform, saying hi to a few agents he recognizes, Clint Barton peeks his head in one of the sitting rooms. "Hey, there a Kenan Kong in here?" he asks, hoping he pronounced it right.
Super-Man Kenan Kong says, "So you Americans would say, in China, family is important, so the family name is first. In China, I am Kong Kenan," The youth who says this is tall and muscular, with a red body suit that has a gold octogon with what looks like a gold letter S in it on his chest, and a black cape and boots. He also has the gold stass of the Communist Chinese flag on his shoulder. He adds, "They call me Chaoren in Mandarin, in English, that means Super-man. To avoid confusion with THE Superman, however, I use Chaoren.""
Clint Barton     Clint nods taking in Kenan with a look, before smiling and offering his hand. "So which of those do you want me to call you?" he asks. "And I'm Clint Barton, by the way, you can call me that or Hawkeye, whatever works for you."
Super-Man Kenan replies, "Kenan or Chaoren...Mr. Kong is...was my father." He looks troubled...which is reasonable given his father only recently dies (so he things at least)."
Clint Barton      "Kenan it is," Clint says with a nod. "But if we go in the field we'll go with Chaoren." At the troubled expression about fathers, he frowns and says. "Gonna guess, not everything is well with the old man?" he ask before jerking his head back a bit to indicate they should walk and talk. "Anyhow, I figured this being our first day, we should talk a little bit, find out what it is you do and what you want out of all of this."
Super-Man Kenan follows and says, "My father was one of the Freedom Fighters of China...the August General in Iron...kind of like Iron Man, something I only recenty found out. He thinks...thought...that the agency that gave me my powers killed my mother. He died helping fight one of the other Freedom Fighters, who was using Mutant Starro Clones to try to take over China."

Kenan inquires, "How technical do you want to be about what I can do?"
Clint Barton      "Sorry to hear he's gone," Clint says as they walk down the hall and head into an elevator. Clint beckons Kenan to follow him before swiping his card through the reader. "But it sounds like he went down a hero, for whatever that's worth." As to the technical aspects of things, "Well, I was raised in a literal circus, so if you start throwing around big words I might get lost," he jokes. "How about you give me the gist."
Super-Man Kenan thinks a moment, "OK, it is like this, I was created to be like Superman, but it did not quite work perfectly. I pretty muct have the same powers, but they work a bit different. Something in me channels energy into me, but ONLY when I am being like Superman. If I act selfishly, or in fear or anger, or otherwise not like a hero, my power stops coming in and I quickly run out of energy. This energy channel is kind of like a pump, it brings in the energy and I can let if flow owt through my various powers...but I only have so much power coming in so I have to divide it between my powers by concentrating on the energy flow...the more things I divide the energy up between, the less energy each has and the less I can concentrate on anything." Kenan add, "Aside from my powers, I am just a second rate mechanic and moderately good at Tai Chi Chu'an"
Clint Barton      Clint listens to Kenan talk as the elevator makes its way up through the building. He drums his fingers on the railing as he does. "Okay, that makes sense, you have only so much power and the more you spread it out, the less power each thing gets. Now what's this about acting like a hero? Is that hardwired in or is it some psychosomatic thing?" he asks. "Not that it's a bad thing, acting like Big Blue is definitely a good thing, I am just curious how you got wired like that."
Super-Man Kenan respons, "Master I-Ching, my trainer, seems to think my powers are kind of mystical...since his training works I tend to listen to him. I do not know whether the limits are imposed by my own mind, or are built in as a safety device. I am still learning to use them. I have six of the eight powers I am supposed to have, if he is right."
Clint Barton     "Ah, magic, say no more," Clint says. He's been around enough to know trying to understand how that magic stuff worked was best left to the professionals like Strange. "So, you've potentially got more powers coming? Interesting." When the elevator reaches their floor he gets out and leads the way to glass walled seating area with a view of the city. "I like to come up here sometimes. Helps me think," he says as he walks over to the windows and looks out over the city below. "So, Kenan, why do you do it? The superhero thing? Is it the whole legacy thing, or because your people say so, or is it something else?" he asks.
Super-Man Kenan sighs, "Actually, I started out as a bully, back before I got my powers I used to pick on someone I blamed for my mother's death. It so happened that a villain tried to kidnap the kid I was picking on...a guy called Blue Condor...and I rescued the kid kind of by accident. I wound up being hailed as a hero though, and the Ministry of Self Sufficiency decided they wanted a hero like me to be the Super-man of China. When I was in the origin chamber...the device that gave me these powers, I dreamed of BEING Superman, and rescuing my mother from death. That is why I did this at first, because I could save people like her from dying. At first it was mostly about people I cared for, but Master I-Ching says I need to broaden my definitions of caring to grow."
Clint Barton      "Heh," Clint says. "This I-Ching guy seems pretty on target there. That said, I know a lot of guys who do this gig fueled on loss and they do okay," he looks back out at the city. "So which one's the real you, the bully or the hero?" Clint asks.
Super-Man Kenan stares off into the distance in deep thought, "Possibly somewhere between them. In time...thanks to my friends, I have grown a lot...I may some day be only the hero. When that day comes I might be as powerful as Superman, or I may never be his equal physically. It does not matter if I never equal him though, what matters is that I do the best I can with what I can do."
Clint Barton      Clint listens to Kenan's answer and smiles a little bit. "Sounds like you've got a good bead on that balance," he says giving Kenan a look. "Anyhow, I'll stop with the dime store psychology stuff now, but thanks for bearing with me, I just wanted to make sure of who I was dealing with.

"So, fair to say your guy, I-Ching has the big stuff handled, and you'll mainly just need me to get you up to speed on SHIELD?" he asks.
Super-Man Kenan says, "That is one thing, but I am sure thee is more. I mean, right now the only thing I have going for me is my powers. Those powers are good, but what am I going to do is i run into someone who can turn those powers off? Say, for example, a telepath who could block the paths in my mind. I think my superior, Dr. Omen wants me trained to be more than just a power jockey, that is the only reason I can see why she agreed to let me work with you people for longer term."
Clint Barton      Clint grins, it was all beginning to make sense now. "I see why Fury sent you to me then, I know all there is to know about being a hero without any powers," he jokes lightly. "So, you need a grounding in hand to hand, how to fly a quinjet, stuff like that?" he asks. "And since we're talking about powers, do yours turn off on their own, or do we need some sort of counter for them for hand to hand training?"
Super-Man Kenan points out, "I can simply not choose to use mu power for anything, or even not to channel it in the first place. Then, of course, I do have weaknesses. Because my powers are based on Superman's, Kryptonite turns my powers off like a light." While Ti Chi Chu'an is a martial art, it is generally used morefor physical conditioning than combat training. There is no doubt Kenan can use better combat training.
Clint Barton      Nodding Clint says, "Excellent, but we won't need to go to the green rocks if you can keep things turned off." He considers for a moment. "Well then, if you've got time let's head down stairs and we can throw each other around the mats for bit and we'll get this show on the road."
