Vorpal The Museum of Natural History had very successful buildup for the Ancient Cultures showcase. A steady succession of exhibits throughout the early part of the year was about to culminate in the shining jewel of the program: Themysciran Splendor.

The collection of replicas, carefully created under supervision of scholars and artists from Themyscira. Objets D'art line the exhibit hall, while the music of the flute, zithar and Theysciran harp flow from concealed speakers, the performances recorded months ago by Themyscira's pre-eminent musicians.

And at the center of the hall, the centerpiece is unveiled among speeches and applause. Beautiful and flowing in Grecian marble, "The Triumphant Sisterhood" was a massive sculpture by Maya D'Aubigny depicting the Themysciran worship of Aphrodite and Athena.

It is breath-taking, and Tommy Hunter has to take a moment to admire the statues with his own eyes instead of his camera. While the official members of the press get a closer view, the rest of the public has to be satisfied with a more distant glance... at least, during the opening ceremony. Still, the grace of the figures is simply captivating, as is the majesty of Athena and the loveliness of Aphrodite, perched above the adoring figures.

The president of the commission that organized the exhibit finishes her speech and smiles to the Ambassador, asking her if she would like to direct a few words to the audience.

Unbeknownst to anyone, another figure lurked in the crowd. A woman with severe features, her mouth a cruel line and eyes full of mischief. Her piercing eyes are directed at the statues, and in particular at Athena and Aphrodite.

The nerve. That these people would admire them so. Had she not taught them a lesson in the days of Troy?

Perhaps she needed to improve upon that lesson. It seemed that the presence of the Amazons had boldened people too much.

There is a very slight movement to the supplicant statues. Most people would miss them, but someone who was sharp of eye and mind might notice that some of them... some of them are moving.

Ever so slightly.
Troia     Donna Troy was the particular ambassador in the museum and she had given a rather rousing speech, describing the wonders of the statues and how they were created. She even gestured towards the particular amazons who made them, who had been doing this their entire lives.

As her speech ended, DOnna managed to notice some of the statues beginning to move, and she walks towards the amazons sculptors to give them instructions to get everyone to safety as calmly as possible.

Anyone watching Donna would know something was wrong when she found an area wide enough for her, and spun around in place, whipping her hair out of the bun she hand. Suddenly, in a growing aura of blue light, she was in her armored corset, and had her full regalia of weapons, including her shield and sword. "Well....looks like I need to get them out of the museum first."
Vorpal Tommy is puzzled at first. When the Ambassador is enveloped in the blue light, though, he lets out a little squeak.

"Holy shit! That's awesome!"

He looks completely oblivious to the fact that the hall is being quietly evacuated. It doesn't even feel like an evacuation, unless you were paying attention.

The severe-looking woman clearly isn't having anything of this orderly conduct.

"Look how superior they look. Does it not irk you, children of man, that they lord themselves over you in such a manner?"

She can be seen in full now, no longer hiding in the crowd. She is elegant and well-dressed, modern attire that gives the impression of a businesswoman without being too opulent or ostentatious. "The Amazons. The rulers of -men-. Is your spine so flexible as to bend in servile prostration?"

There's something... bad about her voice. It bores into your brain. It doesn't control you... not exactly. It magnifies the little voice, the mendacious part of you, the voice that goes against your better angels.

If listened to enough, they become so loud as to make it hard to hear anything else.

"Isn't that right, Amazon?" Eris says with an arrogant toss of her chin across the room to Donna, "Even now you lead them away like cattle, so as not to hear the truth. But the spirit of man will not be led so easily, will it not?"

Tommy frowns. He knows something is wrong. Because of his unique nature, the voice has a hard time getting a hold on him, but it makes him feel... queasy. He steps away and finds a good place to hide behind the display of a Themysciran armor.

The other people, though? They are under the sway of the voice. The men, to be exact- they turn to glare at the Amazons with suspicion in their eyes. They will also not budge, unless pushed, defiant.

"... they really do think they're better than us, don't they?" a man says, his voice almost a low growl.

The statues meanwhile begin to move faster, now, standing from their prone positions and looking down at Wonder Girl. One of those faces is a perfect likeness of Hyppolita.

A gesture from Eris, and the statues advance on the Amazon.

Other statues, minor replicas, begin to move around the room as well. One of them startles Tommy by drawing a sword. "Holy sh-"
Troia     "The truth being that you're a manipulative troll that uses her magic to warp the senses of people?" Donna says as she leaps into the air, and lops the arm off of the statue drawing a sword. "And no, I asked for them to be led to safety so they wouldn't get hurt by one of the statues. The only one that believe they're better than these people....is you, Eris."

With another swing of her sword, she cuts the statue in half in front of Tommy. "Help me by trying to get these people out of the museum, please."
Vorpal The Amazons might have a riot on their hands soon, if the belligerent men are not calmed down somehow. Tommy blinks as Wonder Girl addresses *him*, causing his pale, freckled skin to flush. "W- .. y-yes, Wonder Girl! Of course!" She probably noticed that he wasn't falling into the thrall. So, he needed to get them out without blowing his secret identity.

How?

Bingo!

"FIRE! Everybody out! Like, now!" Tommy starts shouting and waving his arms. Indeed, there seems to be a considerable amount of fire and smoke coming from several of the exhibits. Nobody seems to question the fast appearance- probably because they live in a world where statues move by themselves and gods come into museums to name-call superheroes. Although recalcitrant, the men are not eager to cook alive over a grudge, and they quickly dissipate towards the exits, the Amazons guiding them.

"Always solving everything with your fists, my dear." Eris shakes her head "You need something to occupy yourself."

She snaps her fingers and the statues move away from Donna and towards several points in the room. The massive constructions start smashing at the pillars that hold the vaulted ceiling, eight in total.

Having made sure the crowds are out through the emergency doors, Tommy comes back. But he doesn't come back in his human guise. This time, he comes back as Vorpal, the Wonder C- Cheshire cat. Cheshire Cat.

Of course, he comes back to the sight of enormous statues attacking the structural supports. Dust from the ceiling starts pouring over some of the exhibits. The room begins to shake... and this is bad for the rest of the museum, too.

"... what the hell do I do?" the Cheshire cat asks, suddenly feeling dwarfed by the enormity of the statues. And Eris, standing by the entrance to the hall, arms crossed and smiling ever so slightly. Even she looked larger-than-life.
Troia     And just as they come to her, DOnna's sword cleaves right through each of the statues. Even when the man yells fire, Donna notes there is no heat coming from them, so she continues to fight, even smashing one fo the statues with her shield.

"If you didn't keep animating the statues, I would have to solve this with my sword and shield, but she made sure no one was in the way as she swung her sword and trying to limit the damage done tot he museum.
Vorpal "Do not mock me, Amazon. You dare defy me, by having these mortals give you such honors and hommage? Such glory is only fit for the gods." Eris narrows her eyes. "I am here to teach you humility."

Vorpal frowns. The statues were paying hommage to Athena and Aphrodite. So... why was Eris upset?

Never mind that. The Cheshire cat vaults forward.

"Wonder Girl, I'll take care of these... you can take care of Snarky McSnarkface over there."

Vorpal deflty leaps onto the back of one of the statues that have not yet been hacked to pieces by the sword, which causes the statue to stop attacking the structure itself and to reach out to try to grab the intruder. Vorpal is fast, though, and he runs around the shoulders and arms of the statue, causing it to flail and miss grabbing him.

"I see the world of mortals has lost its due reverence to the gods," Eris hisses, eyes pinpoints of light. She stands straight and glares at Donna. "Goe ahead, Amazon, strike. Defy the wrath of your gods."
Troia     "Thank you uhm.....you." Donna was a little busy to remember his name, but she used that opportunity to go after Eris...

And she lowers her sword.

"You /DO/ realize that these statues were MEANT to be in reverence to the gods?" She then gestures towards one statue. "That one was mant to be someone's idea of Aphrodite." she gestures to another one, that is now in pieces on the floor. "that one was meant to be Athena. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so what you consider beautiful, might not be what /I/ consider beautiful. Your wrath is misled, Eris. Many of the people out here have never seen, nor met a god, so they can only guess at what they look like." She then gestures towards another statue. "Many go for aphrodite and athena first, mainly because they see a strong, capable female warrior in one, and a softer, yet no less capable woman in the other."
Vorpal "And she who speaks the truth none want to hear? Who brings to light what others hide?" the goddess snaps back, "You spurn her. She is not pleasant or flattering to look at, and spare no hymns to her." She looks at the Cheshire cat, battling her creation. "You have offended me, Amazon. But Eris is a merciful night-mother. I will merey claim a hecatomb to remind you of your proper respect. Come, my sacrifice."

One of the other statues manages to reach the one with whom Vorpal is fighting, and plucks the Cheshire cat by a leg. "AUGH!"

Without ceremony, the statue throws Vorpal across the floor, so that he ends up rolling at Eris' feet, dazed.

"... Whu..." he blinks a couple of times, and then focuses his eyes.

On the point of a blade that winds like a serpent. A point that is aimed towards his chest. "Let this be a remembrance of the price of slighting discord herself, Amazon."

She raises the sword.
Troia     And as Eris raises her sword, Donna punches her on the nose with her shield, to push Cheshire away from eris' blade. "You will take no sacrifices, Eris, and like it. I do not believe I am better than the rest of these people. it is why I am an ambassador, to learn different ideals, languages and cultures. the amazons have but ONE culture, and that is why we are coming out...to learn."

"And the truth is like a double edged sword, Eris. You can use the truth as a weapon, OR it can be used to enlighten, Eris. You're using it as a weapon and out here it's called......what was that term? Oh right......it's called a 'dick move'.
Vorpal It is not pretty when a goddess goes down. There seems, for a moment, the suggestion that Eris was about to unleash her full fury on Donna as she came back up from that punch, disheveled hair and a hint of divine blood staining the godly upper lip.

The goddess narrows her eyes, looking at Donna through lowered eyelids. Finally, she seems to swallow her fury and take it to a dark, hidden place, her face resuming its look of studied, slight disdain.

"Were but my patience not completely exhausted, Princess, you would find me a cup most bitter to taste. But I have decided to allow you time to amend for your glaring omissions." She looks towards the mutilated depiction of piety. "Three weeks shall be sufficient. And I prefer to be depicted in profile."

And then there is no more Eris. Immobile statues, leaning against pillars are all that is left of her presence, and the property damage they caused.

Vorpal slowly sits up, his green eyes wide either with shock or something worse.

"... did you just punch a goddess in the schnozz?"
Troia     "Sadly, yes. Much like Diana killed the god of war, Ares." Donna says as she holds her sword in her left hand, and offers a hand to Vorpal. "Sadly, now we have to put these statues back where they were. I just hope the scultors aren't too upset." She then wipes off her sword.....and puts it back into it's scabbard.
Vorpal Getting up, Vorpal looks around at the destruction, the enormity of what happened hitting him all of a sudden.

"I almost got killed by a god. Where does that out me, theologically speaking?" he muses, until Donna's answer snaps him back to what passes for reality around here.

"I.. I could try animating the statues and putting them back," he says hesitantly, "I've never tried making anything so big come alive, though. I usually try with smaller, more manageable things..."
Troia     "Try with the whole ones first, then we'll try for the others." Donna says as she heads out of the museum, and gestures for the scultors to join her....and that's when they put the statues back in place. Some are in pieces, but that's only temporary.
Vorpal Using Chaos magic to bring statues to life and make them march to their original spots? No problem. It works on some of them. Others... are too damaged to make the trek on their own. Eventually, though, between Amazons, cat and equipment, it is accomplished. It will still be a few weeks before the exhibit is ready for show, though. Inspectors need to make sure that the structure is undamaged.

"So....er... hi, Wonder Girl," Vorpal says, grinning at her as he approaches. He's covered in dust, mostly from the moving statues, so his coat has a sandy tone over the red. "We haven't actually formally met. I'm Vorpal. I'm a big fan of you and ... y'know. Your sister. And I'm afraid I almost made a mess of things."

He kicks a bit of sand and dirt on the floor. "I just started doing this, to be honest."
Troia     "We all were new once, Vorpal. And please, My name is Donna Troy. You didn't make a mess of things, you did your best with what knowledge you had, Vorpal. there are others who are learning how to do this, myself included." She says as she puts a statue up. "If you're interested, however, you could join the Titans. Learn about your new powers, and work with a team."
Vorpal You could have knocked him over with a feather, he stands so still. "Really? .... a team? Like, an actual team? I'm... they'd have me? I mean, do I have to do a background check? Is there a questionnaire? A test? An audition? Do I need a ... a headshot? I've never done-" he's clearly growing in excitement, he has to take a moment and take a deep breath before getting into the head voice territory.

"I'd... I'd love to. What do I need to do?"

There. That almost sounded like his heart hadn't turned into a hummingbird. He felt so proud.
Troia     Donna smiles to Vorpal. "Sure, and I'll talk with the other titans about it as well." She then smiles. "For now, just make sure all of the statues are in the right place."
