Dazzler Twas the Saturday before Christmas, when down in the Rec Room...

The sounds of electric guitar fill the room with the sounds of Chuck Berry's 'Run Run Rudolph'. Over by the window, a blonde in ripped jeans and a flannel shirt sits with her long legs crossed. A powder-blue Fender Strat is plugged into an amplifier, working hard at the high setting. But perhaps most unusually, a scene from the movie 'Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer' is playing in the center of the room. As a hologram.
Rikki One of the newer people to the school is sorta down. The holiday blues are striking hard. She was looking to find a quiet place. A safe place that she could just reflect. That idea went down the drain when she heard the sound of music and all sorts of other stuff going on. The young, raven-haired girl pokes her head into the Rec Room. "Oh. Umm. Hi. I thought most people went to be with their friends and family this weekend." She states.

Quietly she walks in wearing a pair of tight jeans and an oversized top. in her arm is a framed picture as well as a few books, One being A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
Dazzler The guitar music stops and the blonde smiles. The holo-movie keeps playing, however. Without a projector. "Hi there. I'm Alison. Used to be faculty here, before I took a little sabbatical." She doesn't get up. Nodding towards the other end of the sofa, she offers. "I can stop playing if the music bothers you. Got a name?"

And yes, any one of Dazzler's loyal fans would recognize her. Even without the sparkly costumes and the blue eye makeup.
Rikki Rikki looks over the girl in the room. "Oh cool... You look familar..." It takes her a moment before it clicks. "YOu're Dazzler!!! OMG! I love your music!" She smiles and does move over to take a seat. "My name is Rikki Riley. No cool name or anything. just a weird orphan girl who managed to pickpocket the right person I guess." She snickers.

Quietly she looks down at her things. The first thing she does is look over the picture. Quietly she sets it upward beside her so its like the people portrayed are there. Its a picture of a couple. Her Parents. Quietly she pulls out her book and looks it over. "Some traditions you don't want to forget?" She comments nervously.
Dazzler Dazzler grins, chuckling softly as she unslings the guitar and sets it aside. "Nice to meet you, Rikki Riley. One thing you've gotta realize, however, is that nobody in this school is -ever- really an orphan." The blonde uncrosses her ankles and draws her legs back, slumping a lot less now.

Family.

Alison hasn't spoken to her father in... well, it was sometime after she decided against becoming a laywer in favor of started her singing career. JUDGE Blaire wasn't exactly thrilled with her choice. Then there were the years she spent chasing her alien boyfriend around various dimensions, fighting for her life in alien gladiator arenas. Somehow this all brings her back.

The picture gets her attention first, and her smile becomes more wistful. "Some traditions you don't want to forget." she agrees in a softer voice. "Anything I can help with, or is this a tradition you'd rather observe alone?"
Rikki Rikki smiles thoughtfully, "When I was little, my mom and dad would read this to me every year. I used to hate it because it got in the way of presents and other forms of fun. Now I would give anything to hear it one more time."

She smiles, "I don't mind that you're here. Things are just really weird now. Six months ago, I was in an accident. It took my parents but gave me a whole different life. I miss them a lot. The problem is now, I've got these crazy abilities and stuff."
Dazzler Alison's wistful smile remains, and she nods. "Well you're in just the right place to learn about your abilities, Rikki. You don't think they only teach the three 'R's here, do you? I'm sorry for your loss, but believe me when I tell you that you're probably in the best place you can be right now."

Dazzler considers for a moment, then the professional smile returns and she extends her hand. "I've been told that I'm a pretty good reader, if you'd like to listen to another voice reading besides your own."
Rikki Rikki smiles, "Okay!" She offers Dazzler the book. "Ummm One Moment. Anything worth doing is worth doing right, Right?" She smirks and then she's a blur. Here then gone.

Slowing it down so it can actually be seen in 3. 2 . 1...

Rikki jumps to her feet and darts over to the microwave. Two mugs filled with water are placed inside and its started. She fills the popcorn air popper thingy with fresh kernels and starts it. Then she races out of the room, up to her dorm room where she grabs a rather warm blanket. A moment later she is back. The popcorn hasn't started popping yet and the microwave is still just starting to warm things up.

"Okay So umm... Where were we?" She asks curiously.
Dazzler Dazzler blinks as the girl just... disappears? No, dashes off is more like it. Okay, so that answers the question about mutant abilities. Alison barely has time to kick off her boots and draw her legs up when Rikki returns.

"Well it looks like you're getting a pretty good handle on your powers, at least." Alison offers wryly. Looking over at the cozy-looking teen, she opens the book.

"Marley was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner. Scrooge signed it. And Scrooge's name was good upon 'Change for anything he chose to put his hand to. Old Marley was as dead as a doornail...."
Rikki Rikki smiles a little, "Not really. It freaks me out a lot because when I run lightning forms around me. On top of that Everything usually feels like its going really slow for me. I'm starting to understand it I guess." She smiles and wraps herself in the blanket.

A warm smile forms on her face as Dazzler begins reading the story. A few tears form as she looks at the picture once more. Deep down its becoming clear, even as the two cocoas and the popcorn finishes getting hot, This is where she is supposed to be.
