Owner Pose
Clint Barton Clint pulls the borrowed SHIELD car at the near miraculous spot at the curb outside Lara's place. He stops the engine, and takes a breath and eyes the frou-frou neighbourhood around them. He shakes his head and smiles, before he looks to Skye. "C'mon," he says as he hopping out of the car. He'd called ahead and Lara would be expecting them, but he hadn't mentioned what they had decided. Just in case there was a last minute change of mind.

Clint heads up the steps to the door and rings the bell, turning to wait for Skye to join them, sharing a brief look that's one-half expectant one-half nervous.
Skye Johnson If Skye had been a nail biter, she probably wouldn't have fingernails by now. Clint wasn't the only one a more than a little nervous about this. She'd even been uncharacteristically quiet the whole ride over. Getting out of the car she gives Clint a nod to let him know that no matter what happened, things were going to be okay. Walking up to the door with him, threading her fingers through his.
Lara Croft The house itself was alive with lights on in the first floor, there was a small desktop Christmas tree visible through the front window on the left beside the front doorway but that represented just about the only visible Christmas decoration, she wasn't the most festive person afterall.

When they announced their arrival, it'd only take a few seconds to tick by before the door would open and Lara was on the other side, her brown hair was down and loose around her shoulders, she had on a black cardigan and a white shirt beneath that, some dark blue pants and a pair of black shoes.

"Heeey." She said to the two of them with a smile while pulling the door back and letting them come inside. "Come in!" She told them. "I was just on my laptop preparing for a trip." Lara had been taken off of medical leave after her South American trip this past summer which had seen her endure some rather substantial injuries... she was eager to get back to her passion.

"How are you both?"
Clint Barton The nod is taken as it is given, reassurance and he offers the same in return as he takes his hand in hers. "Good to see you Lara," he says when the woman herself comes to the door. "And we're good, I think," he says looking to Skye for confirmation before stomping snow from his boots in preparation to come inside. "And where are you headed?"
Skye Johnson Lara is given a broad smile from Skye as she follows Clint's lead and knocks the snow off of her boots. "Doing great, thanks. And thanks again for letting us come visit. Looks like we're gonna have snow for Christmas." Unless, you know, it melted in the next day, which wasn't entirely out of the realm of possibilities.

She takes a moment to look about. "Place looks nice. We're heading off to Starling for the holiday." Which was another reason they wanted to get this matter dealt with - so they could enoy their holiday without worrying about the uncertainty. And, if luck was with them, celebrate their good fortune as well.
Lara Croft Lara moved to close the large door behind the two of them and she smiled at them both, looking to Clint she showed a grin. "To Death Valley, of all places." She replied to his question after clicking the door closed and then moving toward the living area that was on the left side of the door upon entering the home. "Where its a balmy sixty degrees currently. A nice change from here."

The home was clean, it was almost always clean, she even had a couple of those robot vacuums that were on a timer and woke up every twelve hours to scuttle around sweeping up the floors.

Lara motioned toward the sofa and chairs in the main room, she had a television but it was pretty much never on. At Skye she'd look next. "Going to do some skiing? Would you guys like something to drink?"
Clint Barton Clint steps in behind Skye and takes a look around again, refamiliarizing himself with the layout again after their brief visit a little while past. "Yeah, definitely looks great," he says about the place. He smiles, then takes off his shoes, gives Skye slight supportive nudge and following after Lara to the living room. "Death Valley? What's there?" he asks as he takes a seat on one of the couches then moves over to make room for Skye to join him. "Coffee would be great if you have some."
Skye Johnson Skye snickers. "Lots of places to dig is what's there, I bet." She finds a comfy spot on the couch to curl up and continues considering the place in light of new possibilities. "Uh.. Coffee? Sure." Telling Lara, "We're going to try to ski." With emphasis on the 'try', though Lara won't know that neither she nor Clint have ever skied and is quite likely to take it as 'they'll try to fit it in' while they're there.
Lara Croft A grin was shown to Clint as the pair sat down and she nodded softly to him. "Yeah... thats classified!" She showed an apologetic expression and then brought up a grin. "I'm just teasing, there's something there that I need to investigate... its... a very long story." She huffed out a light laugh. "Coffee yes!"

As she started to walk toward the north entry into the kitchen she called back to Skye. "Well I hope you both have a great time, I absolutely love skiing."

When you don't have any family you care to spend the holidays with, you tend to celebrate them less than most, and to the young archaeologist, this weekend was little more than any other weekend. She'd vanish into the kitchen to get their drinks and would only be in there for a few minutes, leaving the two in the living room. On the south wall (the front facing wall) was Lara's desk beneath the front windows, her laptop was on and it was showing a travel website... her laptop was surrounded by books and trinkets and up against her chair was a large backpack spilling over with supplies for camping.
Clint Barton Clint and Skye know all about the lack of family thing and how much to celebrate Christmas and how had been a bone of contention between them until the trip won out as the way to do it. "I don't doubt it," Clint smiles about the details of the Death Valley expedition.

He settles back when Lara gets them coffee taking in the desk, the backpack full of camping kit and all the rest. Definitely Lara. He glances over to Skye then, putting his hand to his lips, then dropping it back into his open palm, his face making it a queston.

~Good?~
Skye Johnson Eventually Skye's gaze falls upon Lara's gear. Yep. Totally Lara there. Which is amusing. All three of them have their predictable styles. Clint's question met with a crinkling of her lips into a smirk, and her fist balled up and given a nod at him.

~Yes~

Along with a gesture that makes a small circular sweep of the area, before she repeats his motions of hand to lips falling to palm. But without the questioning look he had.

~All good~
Lara Croft The coffee was delivered on a tray and Lara set it down on the coffee table (imagine that!) between them all whilst she sat herself down on the edge of a chair across from them and took up her own glass of it, piping hot!

She sat up straight in her chair then and smiled at the two of them. "So whats up?" She asked them. "You both look like you've had a rough few days..." The British woman was rather observant, or she liked to believe she was at the very least.

"I know this place is practically the opposite of Christmas cheer, for that I apologize. I've never gotten around to buying a lot of ornaments and decorations as I often forget holidays are upon us, before they're gone again."
Clint Barton Clint watches as Skye expresses herself through sign and when she's done, he grins before signing.

~Good~

This time its not a question.

Lara's return has him happily taking up a cup before answering her question, "Oh, you know busy with holiday stuff, Tony's party and all of that," he says of the rough few days. "A little soul searching too, we've come to an answer on your offer, if It's still on the table?"

The lack of decoration is dismissed with a shrug. "Our place has less stuff than this, unless bows are a Christmas decoration." Clint being Clint he means the type you shoot not the type you put on top of presents.
Skye Johnson Skye's the one who gives a sheepish look. "I didn't really think about the holidays this year. I've never really had anyone or anywhere to have a celebration. It's taking a bit of adjustment. We compromised and are going to Starling." She gives a little shrug and a weak grin.

And by compromise, she means that the pair had discovered a little late in the game that this was something they should talk about.

But Clint's comment about bows gets a chuckle and some nodding from her. "He has a lot of them. They have their own room." As well as periodically try to stake out lands claims in other areas of their home.
Lara Croft Lara grinned at the talk of the bows and the room they belong in. "That... is a room that I would very much like to see someday." She'd tell the two of them before taking a sip from her coffee and then setting it down onto the top of her knees that were together in front of her, forearms laying across the tops of her thighs.

"I'm glad that you're getting a chance to spend a little time away together, I want to hear all about it at first chance upon your return." She grinned lightly and then looked between the two of them.

"So what have you decided? Is this place too intimidating?" She'd ask them next. "Because thats the sensation I got when I put the offer out there..."
Clint Barton It was true, neither of them had really thought Christmas would be an issue until it was, so the trip to Starling had been their way out, a chance to regroup and do better the next year and the years that followed.

"I think that can be arranged, though probably not at its present location," Clint says, giving his first verbal hint at what they might have decided.

"Yeah, it should be good, I hear Starling is pretty nice this time of year, the snow stays mostly on the mountains where it's pretty to look at," he says.

Then, it's on to the meat of the matter, the house. "Yeah," Clint says, "You could say that, but since then we've decided that maybe we were stupid and this place could really be a home for us. Somewhere to relax with each other and our friends." They even had party plans. "So, yeah, if you're still offering, we'd like to take you up on it."
Skye Johnson Skye grins, not yet sipping her coffee. "Yeah, so if the offer is still open, we were wondering, how do you feel about back yard barbecues? We were thinking maybe of throwing one for our friends to celebrate."

It felt weird to say things like 'our friends'. Hell, it was weird for her to be saying friends. And yet, there she was, lookking about the place, picturing their friends milling about and making it home.
Lara Croft A flash of a grin hit Lara's lips and she nodded her head. "Wonderful." She was motivated by the very idea that she'd give these guys a leg up on something they could really build off of and enjoy, she didn't need this place... she'd only bought it for her and Sam and Jonah, of whom... both of those two friends had moved on to other things in life. Sam was in a new relationship and she never saw her, Jonah had his restaurant and she equally never saw him now.

"This place is simply more than I need." She told them. "I have an apartment in my father's building on the upper east side, but... I don't really wish to live there because then I get involved in family business matteres and make the suits that loom in those hollowed halls uncomfortable to have me around." She grinned a little. "I'm probably going to find a new place, maybe down in Brooklyn somewhere. I haven't decided yet."

She sipped her coffee and then grinned at Skye. "I am all for a barbecue outside. The backyard here isn't huge, but its large enough to hold a decent sized party and its rather lovely, especially in the summer when the trees are covering it in a nice shade."
Clint Barton Clint grins fondly at the mention of the barbeque, "Yeah, we might have jumped the gun a bit, but if you're good with the barbeque thing going on, consider yourself invited," though at the mention of summer Clint shakes his head. "We were more thinking, New Years," he says with a grin.

The mention of a place in Brooklyn though makes him perk up his head some. "I've got a place, I mean it's the opposite of this place in just about every way, but, if you wanted a look at it, we could make that happen. At the very least it's got a good pizza place nearby," he says with a smile to Skye as he adds, "And some pretty good beer." Yes, the stuff from the other night.
Skye Johnson Skye can barely contain her mirth as Clint lays out the plan for the barbecue. "Kinda a welcome to our home, fuck you 2025, and hey we like you."

There's further laughter as Clint offers up his old apartment. "It might look better once the rest of his stuff is out of it. Great pizza joing nearby. With some lousy frou-frou beer, but they sell some other stuff too."
Lara Croft Lara sipped her coffee again and then she grinned at the both of them. "Fantastic." She said. "New Years? I can be out of here tomorrow..." She rose up from her chair and sat her coffee cup down on the table, then she turned around and glanced back at them ove rher shoulder as she walked toward the front door where she gathered up the house keys that were laying on the table.

"I have ONE thing I feel I have to tell you about this place..." She walked back toward them and set the keys down on the table then pushed them toward the two of them, letting them decide what to do with them.

Lara sat back down on her chair and grinned. "The place is haunted."

She let that settle in for a second and then just shook her head. "No, its not... I'm just kidding, of course. But, yes, I uh... I've had a problem lately..." She clears her throat. "With Ninjas." It pained her to even admit that, she wanted it to be untrue, but it wasn't. "Now, they don't want anything to do with this home... Just me, they want me dead. Or, at least less into what I've done lately--to them. But once I'm gone from this place, they surely won't come back here... I mean, why would they?"

Did Ninjas count as a 'catch' to this otherwise sweet deal?
Clint Barton Clint gestures to Skye when she sums up the party perfectly, "That," he says about the party. "And no need to rush, I mean we're heading out to Starling for Christmas, then we'll move when we get back. So there's time if you need."

When they're presented, Clint takes the keys a giddy sensation passing through him as he does. Holy shit they did it.

Then she mentions the problems. Clint is part way through, "Let me guess it's-" when she says haunted. "You're kidding right?" he'd seen enough not to doubt ghosts were a thing. When she brings up the ninjas, he raises an eyebrow, "Are these work ninjas or extracurricular ninjas?" Clint asks, before adding as an after thought "And do they turn into smoke when you shoot them?"

He glances over to Skye then, he was used to this, between being a field agent for SHIELD and an Avenger, ninjas weren't the worst thing he's had to deal with, he just wasn't sure how much of a catch that would be with Skye.
Skye Johnson Clint gets a nose crinkle. "Hey, no hogging the keys, Hotshot. First thing we do is find a copy place and get you your own set." Teasing as she reaches over and plucks the keys from him. "You've already had a place of your own. I had a van. These are mine."

The ninas get a blink and an 'I don't know, should I be worried?' shrug. "I know how to use my weapon. I mean, compared to the day job?"

Okay, her day job is tame. Except for when it isn't.
Lara Croft Lara grinned ilightly and nodded to Clint. "I can check your place out, sure. But I have an apartment in that tower that I mentioned, so I can be out of here immediately. I Just have to pack that space up there..." She glanced over at her desk. "And get my clothing out of the bedrooms upstairs, which is just a small collection of garbage bags... It shouldn't take but a few hours, I'd guess. So by the time you're back from the trip, this place will be yours to do with as you wish."

"Oh! I mean... furniture and all, I don't need to take any of this with me and you guys are welcome to do with it as you wish. I purchased it from the previous owner."

She grinned at the fight over the keys too. "I'll have the rental agreement on the table here waiting to be signed. And really... they were... enemies of a friend. I got involved, so now they dislike me as well. But I strongly doubt they'll come around again, especially once I've vacated."
Clint Barton Laughing, Clint makes no argument about the keys, "Fine, fine, so bossy though," he says with a fond shake of his head. Skye's points about the ninjas are met with a nod. "Yeah, we'll be fine I think, but all the same Lara, if it's alright, I'll put someone in touch with you who I think can help with the ninjas. Sort of her deal," he pauses a moment. "I think."

He'd mentioned Colleen to Skye, mostly in the context of her advice on finding apartments. The fight, and the stopped mugging probably came up as well. Funny what gets noted when you're in their line of work.

Clint nods about the agreement. "Sounds fine."
Skye Johnson There's a soft laugh from Skye as she signs ~I love you~ to Clint. Following it up with the hand signs ~I am not bossy~ as she denies it verbally. "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." Sticking her tongue out at him.

Nodding to Lara. "He met some girl who teaches martial arts. And helped her kick some ass." Her eyes roll some as she says it. It figures all the fun happens when she's not around.
Lara Croft Lara looked between the two of them and nodded her head a pair of quick times to them. "Well I'd be happy to speak to her, through phone, text or e-mail. But again, I really am against dragging others into the problems that I have created for myself." She showed a little smile then. "Need to choose my friends better, huh?"

Lara would sip from her coffee again and then stand up from her chair. "So this is a three story home, the basement doorway is in the kitchen, there's a small crawl space accessed through a hatch in the hallway upstairs... a small screened in seating area between the house and the backyard... and it a little one-car driveway back behind the house as well."
Clint Barton ~I love you~ Clint signs back fondly before he says, chuckling as she drops the Prince Bride reference, on them, "Thanks Fezzik," Clint says before he signs back ~Are too~

"Great, I'll give you her number before I go, mind if I let her know yours. I mean I get not wanting to drag other people into your problems, but if they can help, why not?" he says hypocritically, if the situation as reversed, he'd be all about taking things on by himself. "And I dunno, I've had a few friends that came with the dangers of ninjas, but," he handwobbles. "Not the best at life choices."

When Lara starts showing them around Clint gets up offering a hand to Skye, before following Lara to the back of the place. "Wow, I don't think I've had three floors before," he says boggling at all the space. Hell when it was two floors it seemed like so much, the basement just made it even crazier. "So, is the basement finished or full of lost relics and Top Men?" he asks with a smile.
Skye Johnson Skye laughs brightly at Clint. "I should have known. And I am not."

She too is just shy of gawking at all the place entails. "I had a van. I think they confiscated it." Something to do with she'd stolen it in the first place... "And yeah. Anything we're not supposed to touch? That you're leaving behind? Any rules we should know about?"
Lara Croft Lara grinned at the two of them, and at Clint she nodded. "Yes, please, I'm not bothered by her having my number and she can text me whenever." When the basement was brought up she'd openned the door from the kitchen area and then flipped the light on, brick-lined stairs lead down into an unfinished basement.

"This place is quite old, its been kept up well though and it used to be owned and lived in by a promient city official long ago. Currently the basement is empty though..." She grinned at the both of them. "Aside from all the mummies. But don't mind them."

Lara shook her head side to side. "I haven't gone down there since the day I bought the place, to be honest. Laundry machines are upstairs off of the main bedroom's closet.

"As for not suppsoed to do to the place?" Lara looked to Skye. "Burn it down?" She grinned again. "Lets hope, at least."
Clint Barton Clint grins at Skye, "Totally are," he says with an outbreath before heading on into the back.

"Huh, I wondered about that," he remarks. "The van, kinda wanted to see it."

"Yeah, seriously, I mean I know we're renting the place, but I don't want to break anything that's a legit antique or anything. Probably couldn't afford to pay you back."

"So what you're saying is that there's a good chance of briefcases full of dirty money then?" he says about the previous owners. "Weill keep my eyes open," he says as he peers down into the basement. Old and sufficiently creepy. "Well if you'd kept to your haunted story, this would be the part where I'd be thinking it might not be a joke."

He looks to Skye on the whole not burning it down thing. "Think we can manage that? I mean if we try really hard."
Skye Johnson "You like it," Skye mutters, giving Clint a nudge.

She has to agree with him, though. "Yeah, if there's anything that you'd cry over losing, don't leave it here. I mean, we're not going to try and break it, but he's right. We can't pay for anything valuable." She looks and sounds like she's worried this is going to be a deal breaker.

"Might want to let me do the barbecuing?" Teasing Clint about the not burning the place down. Because girl can't cool. Though, technically, slapping meat on the grill and flipping it until it looks done she might be able to do. Who knows.
Lara Croft Lara crossed her arms over her stomach, her black cardigan sweater bunching up a bit around her midsection and she shook her head at the two of them. "There's nothing very valuable in this place, nothing that is connected to me anyway. The most valuable thing I had here was that bow I showed you both at the dinner party the other day... but that has since been returned to the Museum."

She smiled lightly and left the basement door and light on.

Lara started out the kitchen's second door, the one that went into the dining room, and then she was on her way to the stairs.

"Second floor, you two haven't gotten to see. You can see it now or later, its up to you? All threed bedrooms are up there and I'd say the biggest downside is that both bathrooms are up on the second floor also, none down here. The master bathroom and the other that connects the second and third bedrooms together."
