Psylocke The apartment looks like Christmas exploded all over it. The decorations are numerous, covering every possible surface. To say that the couple who live there love the holiday would be the understatement of the year. Perhaps the decade.

Currently displayed on the tv is "Arthur Christmas" which is a must see for the lady of the house. Displayed because it is paused as Betsy made a run to the kitchen for two cups of egg nog. She didn't add any liquor to it since they might be patrolling later. That would wait until they came back home and needed to fight off the chill of the night. She's dressed casually for the moment, wearing a pair of yoga pants with candy canes all over them. She passed on the ugly sweater, opting instead for a comfortable tank top. She returns to the couch, setting down her own cup of nog onto the end table closest to her.
Spider-Man There's been something up about Peter all night. Not nefarious, but there's been something on his mind, in the background. If the holidays weren't quite so distracting, or if he weren't dating a telepath, it would never have come up. But the thing about Peter Parker is that he's always worried about something. Worried about an escaped supervillain, worried about his Aunt May, worried about a colleague at the Daily Bugle, worried about climate change, worried about the issues in the Middle East, worried about the rent, worried about this, that, and the other. So, it was hardly new for him to have something on his mind.

He sat there, waiting for Betsy to come back. He had on his Spider-Man pants, having been on an early patrol. So, he got one patrol done, at least. He'd taken the top off, left it on the floor in their bedroom. Betsy hated that. But it was habitual. For someone as concerned about his identity as he was, he was strangely bad at hiding the evidence in his own apartment, or their apartment, she'd probably correct him if she heard that thought. When she returns, he'll make room for her, snuggling up. Today, he had on a yellow-orange t-shirt, which said 'property of Empire State University' in black writing. His mug sat on the table, white, with penguins drinking hot cholcate, as a polar bear figure skated, and baby seals held up score cards.

"So, which of the Christmas family do you think I most resemble?" He asked when she got back and he gave her a gentle cuddle. He did so love this movie. It had become a Christmas tradition for him since before he met Betsy, so the fact that she loved it made it all the better.
Psylocke Being in a relationship with a telepath can be tricky for keeping secrets, if that telepath is the nosey type. Thankfully Betsy is not. While she has her link with Peter, allowing her to sense his emotional state particularly in moments when there is danger, she doesn't go poking around in his brain on a regular basis. First, it would be rude. Second, it was Christmas time and even a telapath liked to be surprised by her presents on Christmas morning.

She settled in next to him, leaning across him to put the second cup of egg nog next to his mug. She leaned back and curled up against his side, tucking her feet up to the side and resting her head on his shoulder. "Have to go woth Mrs. Clause. I'd say Arthur but you aren't that forgetful or clumbsy. You're more kind hearted but keeping track of stuff going on all the time, well aware of things even when you pretend like you aren't."
Spider-Man Peter shivered, "ooh, you're cold." They didn't have under floor heating, and the kitchen was cold this time of year. He was so warm, being near the fire and the couch, so she was probably trying to draw out his body temperature. He didn't mind, even if his natural response was to try and keep the warmth to himself. "Okay," he laughed at her response, "yeah, I don't know what I was going for. But that sounds about as good as it could be, and kind of true. You're definitely Steve out of them, with a touch of Grandsanta," he laughed, teasing her and expecting to be hit or something, playfully of course.
Psylocke "Did you just call me senile?" Betsy asked with a laugh. He did get hit, just as he had expected to be. She swatted him on his tummy lightly. "I may be sort of like Steve but I am not the grumpy, crazy one. Business, not my thing really but yeah, I can keep the ship running most likely." She shook her head a bit and settled back in, reaching for the remote and tapping the play button to resume the movie.

The hand that just swatted him slips around his waist, cuddling her in close. Not to steal any warmth, simply because she liked snuggling while watching movies. "Grandsanta. Really?" She lifts her head, looking at him with a slight furrow in her brow as she fears he might have been a little serious behind his teasing.
Spider-Man "Right, right, you go around in a leotard in snowy conditions, and you don't think you're even the slightest bit as reckless as Grandsanta?" Of course, he liked her outfit, he just couldn't wrap his mind around how she could be comfortable in that, especially this time of year. If it was Miami, it'd be a different story, but New York was cold. He was cold in his spider-outfit. Maybe she had mutant heating? Wait, no, that can't be right if she's still stealing his body temperature.

"What are we going to watch next? Die Hard's a Christmas movie." That was such a guy thing. Die Hard, at Christmas. "John McClane. Die Hard 2 was also a Christmas movie. Just, I wish they'd stopped at 3. The others, nobody likes the others. As good as Maggie Q was, she couldn't redeem a movie with Justin Long in it. That's a feat that's only ever happened once, with Galaxy Quest. Alan Rickman was able to compensate. They came close with Dodgeball, but just not quite enough to get over having him in it."
Psylocke "Die Hard is not a Christmas movie. It is an action movie that happens to be set at Christmas time. That doesn't mean it's a Christmas movie." Betsy couldn't believe she was having this conversation. "A Christmas movie has to be about the holiday itself. Like The Grinch or Miracle on 34th Street. Even the tv specials like Frosty and Rudolph. Those are Christmas." As for the other movies he mentioned, only Die Hard 2 and Galaxy Quest were on her radar. The others had been ignored or missed entirely.

"Wait. There's a movie about dodgeball? That has to be the most boring movie ever."
Spider-Man "A struggling independent gym is nearly put out of business by a big corporate gym, so he tries to win money to save his business in a dodgeball tournament. There are a few good lines, but it's a typical popcorn movie." And then he goes back to Die Hard, "saying Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie because it's also an action movie is like saying the Nightmare Before Christmas isn't a Christmas movie because it involves some Halloween characters too." He tilts his head back, resting it against the couch for a moment, then leans forward to kiss her purple hair.
Psylocke "Nightmare Before Christmas isn't a Christmas movie either," Betsy immediately responds. She smiles as she feels the kiss atop her head despite continuing to argue. Not because she feels strongly on this particular subject but honestly, it's just fun to vex him sometimes. She's not sure that life could be better for them. She's completely happy in their relationship. He doesn't try to stop her from being who and what she is. Sure, he would like her to not resort to lethal measures but he recognizes her skils as a crime-fighter and they are partners in all things. It's perfect.

"White Christmas is a Christmas movie."
Spider-Man "Nightmare Before Christmas is the ultimate Christmas movie. It's about a Halloween character, someone from another holiday, learning the meaning of Christmas and taking it into his heart. He recreates it, without really understanding it, but his heart is in the right place. He stumbles, almost a commentary on how commercial Christmas has become, but he eventually figures it out. Like, it's dark, it's black, but it's also light hearted."

There was a noise of something snapping, slight, soft, like a spider-web that snapped, but not a spider's web, as much as a Spider-Man's web. He didn't react to it, curiously.
Psylocke She was about to continue the discussion when that odd noise was heard. Betsy tensed, sitting up from under his arm and swinging her feet to the floor. Instantly on the alert and ready to react. Only, that noise didn't seem familiar. She frowns, glancing around the room then back over at him as she opened her mind just to see if there were any other people nearby. Not touching Peter's mind, just seeing if they were alone. Or at least if they weren't, she'd know they could hide from telepathy.

"Did you hear that?" she asks. "What was it?" Course, if he didn't hear it, that second question was rather silly but she still asked.
Spider-Man Peter was a poor liar. He was able to hide his secret identity because no one ever suggested he was Spider-Man, or got anywhere near that. He was so different, especially out in public. At home, Betsy knew he was somewhere in the middle between his public persona, and super persona. "Hear what?" He asked, really answering both questions, and he wasn't lying per say, but there was a smile. Was he laughing at how panicky she got? She was so adorable when she thought danger was afoot.

And then, as they were about to settle back in to enjoy what was left of the movie, it happened again, but this time, a small blue object dropped down from the ceiling. It was a box, covered in something like felt. And it fell in such a way that Betsy could catch it, or stab at it. If she did nothing, it would have fallen into her lap.
Psylocke His little innocent act lets her know that she doesn't need to be reacting to a threat. Betsy arches a brow at him then settles back against his shoulder. "What are you up to, Mr. Parker?" she asks rhetorically. She starts to tuck her feet back up when she hears the noise again. This time she is able to pinpoint it as being above her. But before she can look up, there is movement.

If it wasn't for Peter's nonchalance, she might've hit it. Instead, she catches the box just before it would've landed in her lap. She shifts it in her hand then realizes what it is and looks at him with confusion on her face. "Peter?"
Spider-Man Using the proportionate reflexes, agility, and speed of a spider, Peter slipped out of his spot as she caught it. He was now on the floor, one knee down, the other one bent. At the mention of his name, and the confusion on her face, Peter gently moved his hands to turn the little blue felt box, so that the latch was facing him. With it still in her hand, and his hands around them. One hand was under hers, which cupped it, and the other held onto the top of the box.

"Elizabeth Braddock, when Brian first introduced us, I was, okay, more than a little bit intimidated. There's such a gulf between being from Queens, and having met some. I had no idea what to expect, but I wasn't prepared for how important you've become to me. I love your sense of adventure and fun. I love how you want to make the world a better place, okay, maybe we differ a little on what would make the world better, but you've helped me get out of my shell, and I think I've had a good influence on you. We've found each other in the middle. And, with our lives, I can't speak for what the future's going to hold. We live dangerous lives. But I can't imagine mine without you."

"So, what I'm trying to ask, in a round about fashion, is," and he opened the felt box to reveal a diamond ring, "Betsy, will you marry me?"
Psylocke As soon as she realized he had moved, taking a knee in front of her, Betsy knew what was happening. Her heart began to beat faster as she felt a mix of excitement and fear. The fear was because this was a huge step. They had been together for almost a year now and her feelings for him were undeniable. He meant everything to her. There was no doubt what her answer was going to be. "Oh Peter..." she breathed as he asked the qeustion. Her eyes were shining a bit, tears pooling there. "I ...we...." She paused and took a shuddering breath, blinking to try to keep the tears from falling.

"Yes, Peter. I would love to marry you." And she held out her left hand. To her surprise her hand was shaking ever so slightly instead of being steady like it normally would.
Spider-Man In reality, it only took a few seconds. In Peter's mind, it was an eternity. He waited, looking at every sign, every shift of every muscle. Every bat of her eyes. The way she inhaled. He had put himself out there, entirely, and he was hoping the answer would be yes, but until he heard it, he didn't know it was going to be. He hoped, he thought, he even maybe expected a little, but it was just a hunch. And when she finally said yes, his lips curled into the biggest smile he had ever managed. He took the ring, carefully, his own hands shaking a little bit, and slipped the ring onto her slender finger. It fit, another hurdle overcome. He had been worried it might be too loose, or too tight, but this one was just right. He leaned forward, while still kneeling, and kissed her.
Psylocke The ring looked perfect on her finger. It fit exactly. As though he had known her ring size. Betsy wasn't sure how he did but it didn't matter. All that mattered was the man kneeling before her. As he leaned forward, she slipped to the edge of the couch and leaned down to him to return the kiss. Long, slow, filled with the love that was overflowing her heart for this man. Her arms slid around his shoulders, holding him close to her. When their lips parted slightly, she looked into his eyes as she spoke.

"When we first met, I knew you were special but I had no idea how much so. You're one of the best men I have ever known and I am the luckiest women in the world so have you as mine. I love you, completely. I can't imagine my life without you and I look forward to every minute we have together. We do live dangerous lives but I selfishly hope that we have many years together, until we are old and gray."
Spider-Man Peter winked to her, "someday, when we're old, and I'm grey, salt and pepper if I'm lucky, I will still see you as purple."
