Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell is slowly stepping down the street, bare feet crunching the snow beneath her. She's not wearing nearly enough for this kind of weather, with just a loose, white tank top and a pair of jeans, and judging from her scrawny frame, she doesn't have much natural padding, either. But she doesn't seem uncomfortable in the slightest, even with some light frost hanging from her long, dark hair.

Thanks to the cold weather, very few people are out and about. A man in a beanie, bundled up in a jacket quickly steps by, face buried in his collar. Maya nervously steps a few feet into an alley to let him pass, before peeking back out. She doesn't seem to be hiding, but she certainly seems to want to avoid people.
Super-Man Kenan is failing to fly, it is the last power he knows he is supposed to have, but so far he has only been able to access it when overcharged, such as when fighting a solar powered villain and absorbing the solar energies. He knows, in theory, where to direct the energy, but so far trying to move the energy to his head winds up with it going to his eyes, ears, or mouth. He has tried running and leaping to start...which is what he is doing out here...but no luck keeping himself in the air. He lands after his latest leap on a patch of ice and falls over backwards.
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell squints as she spots Kenan jumping about in the snow, and winces as he slips on the ice. She pulls herself out of the alley and slowly approaches, with the same measured hesitance. "H-Hey, are you alright?" she asks, voice wispy and weak. "What are you even...-doing-, i-if I may ask...?"
Super-Man Kenan sighs, "Having trouble figuring out one of my powers, as usual. I am supposed to have eight of them, but so far I am hung up at seven. Ironic that it was the second power I used, but I was running on a high power charge right after creation." He is wearing some kind of blue uniform with a red belt and red armbands.
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell blinks rapidly. "Wh-...Oh, uh, are y-...Wait, -eight- powers? You...have -eight- of them?" She steps a bit closer and eyes the uniform for anything that might be familiar to her. "Are...you some kind of, uh...robot, or something? Created to have a bunch of...different powers?"
Super-Man Kenan says, "I am a man, one subject to an experiment intended to make me able to emulate the powers of Superman. It is difficult to learn them though. My teacher says I have eight powers, tied to the trigrams of the I-chin as they relate to the parts of the human body."
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell blinks again. "...Oh," she says flatly. "Like, a...s-super soldier." She eyes the ice patch the man slipped on, then, "What...were you trying to do? I can help make that ice patch less slippery, if...it would help..."
Super-Man Kenan says, "The power I am missing is flight. I am supposed to be able to soar through the air with great speed. While I can leap great distances, I always fall back to the ground." He adds, "If I was worried about it, I could melt the ice with my heat vision."
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell looks back up to Kenan. She's silent for a second, then, "...O-Oh." After taking a nervous step backward, she clears her throat. "Just, uh, p-please don't...use your heat vision around me."
Super-Man Kenan blinks, then says, "You are heat sensitive? Well that would explain the light clothing. If it helps any, I have freeze breath also."
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell nods rapidly. "Y-Yeah, I'm...always cold. I mean, compared to...normal people, I'm--I-I'm, uh, comfortable, but...t-to anyone else, they'd...freeze to death. So..." She takes a deep breath. "Yeah, uh...heat-sensitive. Maya, uh...b-by the way."
Super-Man "Greetings miss Maya," Kenan bows, and channels his power to his belly so HE does not have to worry about freezing. "I am Kong Kenan of China...though in the US I gather it would be Kenan Kong. If you are more comfortable with a code name, you may call me Chaoren."
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell nods her head lightly. "Kenan. Right." A pause, then, "Hey, uh, are -you- cold? I mean, I don't know how warm that, uh...suit is. I might be able to help you fly w-with gusts of cold air, but...ah, I don't want you to get -too- cold..."
Super-Man Kenan considers the question, "It may be interesting to try. I do not know that it will help, but I doubt it will hurt either. Shall I jump into the air, or did you want to lift me?"
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell shakes her head, her long hair shaking about. "Oh, no, I couldn't lift you. I just thought more like, uh...the wind might -help-. But i-it -does- get really cold. I'm basically grabbing and shoving the water in the air, but, uh, water I have quickly freezes, so you might be getting a little bit of snow or ice, too."
Super-Man Kenan comments, "It should not bother me much, I can be very hard to hurt." Of course, that depends on how he is channeling his powers, but he should be able to resist the cold and have eough power eft to try somewthing else.
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell nods. "Right, then. Just, uh...start trying, and I'll...see how much I can help." A frosty breath escapes the woman's lips, then she brings her hands out, ready to create the wind as it's needed.
Super-Man Kenan keeps much of his power in his belly, but channels about half into his hands, then leaps high into the air...taking a few seconds to reach the top of his arc. That he hs done before.
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell sharply lifts her hands up, palms first, sending a freezing blast of air up to Kenan's stomach and face. It peppers him with a bit of snow, as she said, but it's nothing a super can't handle. The gust of wind is fast, but not fast enough to support a human much, especially one much larger than herself.
Super-Man Kenan again tries to focus his power into his head, where it should be to fly. He again fails, his power diverting to his face where he releases a burst of freezing breath...he carefully did not allow it to reach his eyes.
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell winces as Kenan lands once more. "...D-Did I help a little, at least?" she asks cautiously, tone fragile.
Super-Man Kenan replies, "A little. If I had been wearing a cape or something to catch the wind, it might have worked better." He did stay aloft a bit longer than otherwise.
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell lets out a huff. "Ah, well...Are you, er, okay? I mean, f-from the cold?" She clears her throat. "You know, I've been trying to practice with my powers a bit more. Extend my range, resist freezing the water I grab, things like that."
Super-Man Kenan nods, "Myself much the same, since I got these powers I have been learning how to draw in energy and focus it. Unlike the true Superman, I do not get power strait from the sun, but rather I draw it from the idealized spirit of Superman. Once I have the energy I channel it through my body trigrams to activate my abilities. I have been learning the basic uses for each power so far, though I am sure there are other uses I have yet to learn."
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell nods initially at Kenan's explaination, but slowly tilts her head as he continues. "Er...right. I just...I-I dunno, think about doing something, and...th-then I do it." She shrugs meekly.
Super-Man Kenan laughs, "That sounds much easier than practicing Tai Chi for hours to focus on the proper trigram as I have to." At least, that tends to be how he first learns the focus.
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell chuckles weakly, then sighs. "Yeah, well...a-at the same time, nobody wants to be around me b-because it's like being in a freezer."
Super-Man Kenan nods sympathetically, "I can see that. Unless you are nearly invulnerable, that might be uncomfortable. Can you learn to restrict your zone of cold to a small defined locus? There is a martial exercise that involves focusing control on a small area by pacing out the bounds...though I do not know if that would help you."
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell shakes her head rapidly. "No, I-, uh, I don't think so. I've tried, like, focusing and, uh...meditation, and it--" She sighs and slouches. "It just...doesn't work. I'm hoping to get, ah, some kind of...suit that traps the cold in, though."
Super-Man Kenan is no scientist, so he can not advise her on thermodynamic processes or the like. He does say, "I have one of those, though I am not wearing it just now. My containment suit has saved my skin on a number of occasions, as it protects me as well as helps contain my powers."
Maya Caldwell Maya Caldwell sighs again. "Yeah. Uh, come to think of it, though, I should...probably be heading home." She nods to Kenan. "It was, uh...nice meeting you. I just don't, uh, g-get to t--" With a heavy sigh, she cuts herself off, then chuckles weakly. "I'll...see you around. Hopefully."
Super-Man Kenan can tell the girl is a bit shy, and says, "I will be around the area for a while. Perhaps we will meet again." He shifts more of his energy into his hands and then leaps away into the distance."
