Owner Pose
Mon-El     Lar Gand finds himself hanging around one of the oldest ethnic communities in Manhattan, probably because he has yet to be introduced to most Asian food. Given that he doesn't really -have- to eat the way humans do, he likely hasn't given it much thought, with everything that's been going on lately.

Also, he's still sort of desperate to find ways to get his memories back. He's already tried getting punched, and has definitely even gotten hit by blasts of eldritch energies, but none of it seems to have had any effect. There are lots of recommendations on the web, many of them rather unconventional. But after the Glorith debacle, the Daxamite is -really- starting to feel this is a more urgent matter than ever before. Because maybe then he'd stop breaking everything he touches and doing all kinds of unwise things...
Drake Winters "I'm telling you bro. You are going to fucking love pot stickers. They are amazing. It's pretty much the best Chinese fingerfood you can ever have. They are dough dumplings stuffed with meat and you just dip 'em in soy sauce and then you just go to heaven." Drake says to his buddy as he strides along with him, giving a pointing of his finger to one fo the restaurants. Today he's wearing a heavy Overwatch bomber jacket with a pair of destroy jeans and a military green shirt beneath it with a picture of Soldier 76 pointing at the camera with the words: WE WANT YOU under it in an old time military recruiting poster. "Though I can tell you will probably like the spicy stuff. Let me introduce you to wasabi."
Selene Gallio The two men are headed straight into Selene's favorite restaurant down here as well, by chance. It's English name is Duck Soup - and it advertises itself with a neon duck on the outside window. It is right next to a little antiques dealer that she comes out of, talking with the owner in Cantonese. She is smiling and chatting, before waving a moment as she moves away.

Today she is dressed a lot like her apparent age would dictate, as a college aged woman. She's got glasses on that are black rimmed but have large lenses and she's wearing a plaid top that she's tied off at just below her chest making it something of a crop top and revealing the solid black almost sports bra underneath to a great extent. Much of her stomach is freely visible before a pair of very short short denim shorts grace her hips for just the briefest of time, and thene its legs all the way down to a pair of white sneakers. New York cold be damned.

Sort of scooting up to the guys as they enter, she kind of mildly says, "Oh, yeah, pot stickers?! Super goooooood. You guys going in here too?" She raises a brow in the direction of Drake, and she gently kind of pushes her glasses up on her face, "Wasabi, isn't Chinese, so you may not be able to... sorry." She indicates and quirks her mouth to the side, "I am just budding into the conversation. Though, if you need any translations, I could help. Sort of studying chinese culture."
Mon-El     Lar seems to have a sort of distant expression on his face as Drake gushes about how great potstickers are. And soy sauce, and wasabi, and all that. It's clear his mind is elsewhere. The other day, he kind of declared out loud to Kara Zor-El that he loved her at a sort of unexpected time. it was...awkward to say the least. Grife, he -really- needs to stop doing and saying stupid things.

"Yeah...sure." he replies absently to Drake as they walk into the restaurant. "Ugh, I just need to find a telepath I can trust." The Leigon had one, but Imra was off on a mission in another part of the galaxy probably.

Then the young woman just sort of enters the conversation, having overheard it. "I...uh," He starts, stammering a bit. "Hello there Miss...?"
Drake Winters "Earth to Lar Gand. Your best friend is trying to sell you on how amazing potstickers are." Drake says as he gives him a nudge to the elbow with his hand. "Are you gonna tell me what got your head in the stars? You've been weirdly all over the place today." He says, then furrows his brow at the telepath statement. "I think I can help you out with that." Before he can expound more upon that, he looks over at Selene, pauses, then openly stares as his jaw slightly unhinges. "... Uh .. " He clears his throat as he feels his cheeks slightly flush. ".. Yeah, we're going in. It's his first time. Total Chinese virgin. Back home in Cali, our Chinese places had wasabi if they did sushi also. You know, sorta sneak one of those sushi bars in because white people can't tell the difference and Californians are all about that sushi." He rocks a bit on his shoes as he rubs the back of his neck.
Selene Gallio "No miss, just Selene." The woman smiles, and sort of looks to Mon-el, "Don't worry, I know plenty of people who have had a stutter. You know it's curable with acupuncture." She seems confused a moment, and shakes her head a little, "Sorry. What? A telepath?" Her eyes dart around as she sort of whispers, "Are you serious?" Bespeckled eyes glance about some and she speaks in Chinese to the hostess, "A corner booth." Before she switches back to English, "Oh. So, not real chinese food?" She raises one side of her mouth in a somewhat cutesy grimace, "If you guys want, I got a booth here. Plus, me and the hostess are buddies, she gives me discounts... and..." She takes in a deep breath before letting out a somewhat whisper, "I... may be able to help too? Depending." She looks sidelong to the ground before starting to walk, not even putting her name down for a table. She waves the other two, "Come on, my booth is over here. Plus, you'll get my discount."
Mon-El     "What's acupuncture?" Lar asks, because he really doesn't know. A nod is given toward Drake as he tries to get his friend's attention. "Yeah, I'm sure they're wonderful, Drake. And, it's...it's nothing. I just have a lot of things on my mind, that's all." he shakes his head, shoving his hands in his pockets and walking quickly toward the booth Selene has indicated. Yeah, his interest is definitely piqued. Sure, he doesn't know her at all, but it can't hurt to at least explore the possibility, right? Can't hurt to just talk.
Drake Winters "It's when they stick needles in your body at certain points to relieve stress. Honestly, the idea just scares the shit out of me." Drake says in reference to acupuncture. "California is definitely real Chinese food. They're just smart enough to put sushi on the menu for hipsters." When Selene gets a bit too eager to help out, he furrows his brow as he looks to Lar, shifting his jaw a bit. Pushing off his foot, he follows after them as he toys with the watch on his right wrist a few times with his fingers.
Selene Gallio "Guotie." Selene says to a waitress as she passes her by, walking to a corner booth. It's the chinese word for what Americans call potstickers. And she keeps moving right past the person till she gets to the booth. It's a round table, thanks to being a corner, and she sort of scoots in till she's at the back middle letting Mon-el and Drake sit on opposite sides of her and both will then have an easy view of each other if they wanna talk. She smiles, "Acupuncture dummy. It is where they take needles, and shove them into nerve centers to control how your body responds to things. It's super useful, if done correctly, for all kinds of things. From stuttering to even memory loss."

To Drake she nods her head, "Yeah. Needles. Some people are afraid of them. Though I kind of like acupuncture. Performing it really. When studying you have to practice, and I have had pretty good results." She pauses for a moment, "Did you guys want anything else? I mean, sushi is good, but it's hard to find good fish these days." Looking at Drake a bit more, she scrutinizes the shirt some, "Over... watch? Is that some kind of law enforcement group?"
Mon-El     "Oh," Lar nods at the description of acupuncture as he sits down on one side of Selene. "So you've done it yourself? But I don't think it would work on me." He doesn't notice Drake's suspicious frown. The Daxamite is probably a bit overconfident about things...but it's hard not to be when you are as strong as he is. There are...few situations he couldn't just fly or punch his way out of, and few people who can actually take a punch from him without getting obliterated.

"Uh..." At the question of whether he wants anything else, he just shrugs. "I don't really know much about human food, so I wouldn't know what to ask for."
Drake Winters "He'll have the Sesame Beef with fried rice." Drake says as he shifts his chin into his hand. "I'll get the General Tso's chicken with shrimp fried rice." He safely orders for himself and his friend.
Selene Gallio "Yeah. What was it that you needed a Telepath though, for?" Selene wonders a bit, before looking around suspiciously at the rest of the restaurant for a moment. And then she pauses, and turns her head with some incredulity. Her perfectly plucked eyebrows go up, "Human... food?" Her mouth sort of repeats the words without any sound coming out. And then her eyes get wide, "Are you an alien?" She says, probably a bit loudly before, quickly looking a bit more shocked and looking around. Then she says a bit more conversationally, but loudly nonetheless, "From Mexico? Wow..." And then she hunkers down at the table, leaning far forward, "So, like, a -real- alien? Like, zip zip zoom, in spaceships?" Blinking a few times from behind those glasses of hers. "Holy shit."

She takes a side long glance at Drake as he just orders food and she is almost stunned. Her mouth sort of falling open, "Did you -hear- what he just said? Did you know? Holy shit." She is breathing a bit heavier, somewhat quickly, her not-so-hidden chest rising and falling quickly, "I am talking to an alien, and ordering Chinese food." She brings her arms together in a bit of excitement, "Yes!" Though she never got up to order anything, in just a few minutes the order Drake requested will be coming over to the table with a big plate full of potstickers.
Mon-El     "Yes, that is what I am." Lar nods, confirming the answer to Selene's question. His eyebrows go up a little. "Why are you so shocked? I mean, you know I'm not the only one. Plenty of mutants and metahumans, too. Is Mexico another planet in this sector?"

He sighs. "I need a telepath because I can't remember anything beyond growing up on my home planet and then waking up here a few months ago. But I don't know any who are available and well, trustworthy."

When the food comes, he glances up at it curiously. Did she...order? Oh, maybe she did it on her phone or through other electronic means.
Drake Winters "Yeah. I heard him. I'm sort of his Earth chauffeur. It's my job to take care of him while he's down here. Make sure he doesn't get into any trouble." Drake says with a serious tone in his voice as he props his chin up again, drumming his fingers along the top of his menu. "Or distracted, or led down the wrong path." He gives a glance over to Lar, offering a quick smile.
Selene Gallio Eyes now wider Selene is just staring at Lar, her breathing is calming down but slowly, as she just kind of inhales and exhales quickly. "Sure, there's that, super guy, and the super lass, and then there's that Amazing Woman, and some others, I see on the Tele, but... right here, in my favorite restaurant?!" Selene wonders, "So, like, do you fly? And jump? And super strong? Like all the others? Or are you more like the alien who kidnaps people?!"

Then she looks to Drake, "Are you an alien too?" Selene cuts off a bit when Drake just kind of explains his role in all of this and she furrows her brow, "That seems, really odd. Why would he need a chauffeur if he has a spaceship?" She questions, and reaches forward to grab a potsticker that she slowly starts to eat, taking nibbles of it as she goes. "So, where is home? And no, Mexico is a country. South of the United States." She looks around the table, "No tea?" Hrming a bit she looks around for a waitress, and soon enough someone is coming with Tea.
Mon-El     "When you can fly, jumping kind of becomes...obsolete I guess? I suppose we aren't as rare you thought." Lar shrugs. Then he laughs a little bit, glancing at Drake. "Drake is one of the first humans I ever befriended here. He's been a good tour guide." he says, still smiling.

When the tea is served, he reaches for a cup but it just kind of...gets crushed. Whoops. "I guess that answers the strength question." he sighs.
Drake Winters "That's why I tag along with him, to open doors for him so he won't snap them off the hinges." Drake chuckles as he watches his friend break the cup, then gets out some napkins to dab up the liquid. After a moment, he slides his phone out and taps along the screen as he slips back into his seat. "So, I don't think we got your name." He says with a smile over to Selene. "Also thanks for being real hospitable. I can pay for the food though. Write it off as a business expense."
Selene Gallio "Oh." Selene says when Drake indicates that he opens doors and stuff for Mon-El. "I'm Selen, like I said back at the door, really. You guys, though, I still don't know your names?" She wonders looking between the two. And then hrms at Drake, "You are a business person? That's interesting. What kind of business?" She questions a little more curious, before adding, "No need to pay for it. I am really rich." She offers before looking back to Mon-El, "Well, if you want to try and get your memories back. You could stop by here and look for me any time. I can probably help... just don't break anything of mine." She indicates still on her first potsticker.
Mon-El     "Well, thank you. But you really didn't have to, Selene." Lar nods, smiling politely. "Ah, sorry. Lar Gand." He extends a hand for the Terran tradition of hand shaking when you introduce yourself to someone. Then he arches a brow at her. "So...you are a telepath?" he asks.
Drake Winters The phone pings a few times as Drake's thumbs dance along the glass surface in his slouched state. "Oh. I'm Drake. I'm the Captain for Team Static. Overwatch team. We just won the Overwatch League championship. I'm .. uh ... sorta on billboards all across the city. At least for two more weeks or something. It's a bit weird still." He says as he rubs the back of his neck with his free hand as his thumbs continue to tap away, then places the phone face down. "It's nice to meet you, Selene. Sorry, I musta missed your name. I was just .. ah .. distracted ..." He pauses thoughtfully, followed by a grin on his phone, then plucks a potsticker from the plate. "You gotta eat one of these, Lar. I'm telling you, they're so good. Kara told me once that she /loves/ them."
Selene Gallio "Oh, no worries. I mean, it's just, non-money really." Selene offers as if it isn't a big deal, "But, you are welcome." And then she goes to extend her hand for the whole hand-shaking thing with Lar and then pauses a moment. Pulling her hand back, she looks to the cup, and then just grins with a bit of a chuckle, "You aren't going to crush my hand are you?" With that she grimaces and then looks around before shrugging, "Maybe? I sort of, can, kind of, read minds." She pushes her glasses up on her nose again, just smiling for a moment and then offers a bit of a goofy grin. If Lar indicates he won't be crushing her hand, then she'll handshake - but otherwise she's not reaching out into that cup-destroying-hand.

To Drake she looks at him and mentions, "Oh, this Overwatch isn't some law enforcement thing like I had asked, it's some kind of sport thing? You are into sports? That's cool. I don't really watch sports, or billboards for that matter. I spend a lot of time reading, looking at antiques, that kind of thing. I like old things really, so interesting the way they work."
Kara Danvers Landing outside the restaurant, Kara brushes out her skirt and zips up her jacket. She flounces into the restaurant and smiles at Drake. "Hi Jimmy! Can't say no to pot stickers." She announces and blinks at the others. Her steps slow, but pot stickers so she presses on with an awkward wave for Lar. "Hi Lar." She greets and places her hands on the back of a chair with a crooked smile. But Pot Stickers. Her vision zeros in on the sweet pockets of food.
Selene Gallio The group is sitting at a oorner booth. The booth is a round table with Selene in the middle at the back, Lar on one side and Drake on the other. Kara could certainly either pull up a seat to join, or have one of the two men scoot to make room.
Mon-El     Oh...right. When Selene hesitates to shake his hand, Lar chuckles, sighing a little as he withdraws his hand. "You know what, yeah. You're probably right to take precautions. As you can see I still haven't quite gotten a handle on this self-control thing." He arches a brow as Selene admits she can read minds. "So, you -are- a telepath, then. Well, thank you for the offer. Though I barely know you. Not that you haven't been hospitable. But anyone can do that, right?"

And then his attention is immediately diverted when Kara enters. This time he really -is- surprised at her presence. "K-kara! Um...good to see you again. Please, join us." he says, motioning toward a seat at the booth where they are all sitting. "This is Selene."
Drake Winters "Hey Kara! Pot stickers!" Drake grins widely as he straightens up in his chair, sliding his phone into his pocket beneath the table. "Toldja we'd finally get a chance to devour these amazing treats together. I wanted to take Lar out for his first Chinese adventure." To Selena, he gives a nod of his head. "Ah. Yeah. eSport. I'm a professional gamer. Keyboard and mouse type of sport. I travel with my team all around the world competing against other teams. I'm currently North America's top ranked hitscan player and I represent USA for the world cup. It's really just .. the olympics for nerds."
Selene Gallio When Lar withdraws his hand, Selene just puts it back down before there is now a new person here. She looks over to Kara and smiles a bit in her direction. And then back to Lar, "Sort of, I mean, I wouldn't describe that as my person. Or anything. I'm Selene, first, and then can do that mind stuff as a secondary thing. It's really no big deal." She offers and quirks her mouth to the side before adding, "It's true. Well, maybe we could, meet another time and talk about all that's going on? Since I am an expert in many disciplines, including medicine and psychology. I'd be happy to help even if not with the brain power thing." She asks of Lar, while offering another smile to Kara when she's introduce. "Hi, Kara. Nice to meet you. Yes, please, join join. I mean, guotie right?" She nibbles a bit more on her first and only piece of food she's grabbed thus far. Drake's words get her to nod her head a few times to his answers, but right now she's looking around for another seat and then scoots in the direction of Mon-El and waves Drake over, "Come on, make room for her."
Kara Danvers "Oh, umm, I can pull up a chair. I'm sort of a volunteer first responder, sometimes I have to dash." Kara smiles and pulls up a chair. She sweeps her blond locks over a shoulder and offers Drake knuckles. "If pot stickers is the first thing he's trying you've chosen well. "Though there are some amazing soups too. Egg drop? Oooh. So good." She sighs and settles into a chair, pulling it over first and smiling as she reaches for a pot sticker.
Mon-El     "Maybe," Lar nods to the suggestion of sitting down and talking again sometime. If Selene can prove herself trustworthy, then maybe it's worth a shot. "So that's just one of many things you can do, huh? What else can you do? I mean, like if you're a mutant or metahuman or something."

"Yeah, Drake is kind of the best at what he does." He says, winking at the pro gamer. "Next time you're out and about you'll probably notice him on the billboards."

He finally does try one of the potstickers, nodding. "These are pretty good. I can see why everyone seems to gush about it."
Drake Winters "Yeah, I'm .. pretty good at a video game. It's really not a big deal." Drake says as he rubs the back of his neck, then reaches out to give Kara a welcomed fist bump. He scoots over when suggested, making room for the blonde superhero. "Right? I knew Lar would like them. I think /everyone/ loves potstickers." He gives another glance over to Selene, offering up a quick smile. "So you read minds? It feels weird being sorta the only normal guy in all of New York these days."
Kara Danvers "Pretty good? No, these are the best." Kara leans over the table. She dips a pot sticker in some sauce once she has her fist bump. Holding out the pot sticker to Lar she stares at him. "You have to dip them in the sauce." She insists and pokes his lips with a dumpling. As she does she looks at Drake. "We can be normal together. That's what makes us such great pals Jimmy Cricket!"
Selene Gallio There's a pause and to Lar she shakes her head, "Not, that way. I meant, that I am practically a doctor in various ways. So if you are having memory issues, there could be a slew of reasons. Some of them psychosomatic, and others possibly due to actual injury. Each is treated in different ways, and since I know biochemistry I could probably figure out your..." She pauses and glances over to Kara and then back to Lar, and then to Drake, she scrunches up her expression for a moment, "Your, heritage, I could likely help. Is all. You know, in a not-so-invasive way." And then she offers to Drake, "Well, I am pretty normal. I try to be at least, I don't go around using my abilities all the time. That seems not-so-good. And it feels weird to be in people's minds, so I try and stay on the outside. Though particularly strange thoughts still... kind of tingle." She frowns a little, "Makes it when people lie around me, or to me, I feel... uncomfortable." Taking in a deep breath, "But, people lie all the time. So, its just... whatever." Eyeballing to the side Kara trying to force feed Lar.
Mon-El     "Okay, okay. If you say so!" Lar chuckles, his face flushing as accepts the potsticker Kara is shoving at his mouth. Selene might not be in anyone's head right now, but it doesn't take a telepath to figure out how he feels about her. He munches on the food thoughtfully and swallows. "Yeah, uh-huh, definitely the best." he says with a grin. "And definitely better with the hot sauce. Really amazing. And Drake, you aren't even normal yourself any more. So you fit right in, yeah?"

Then to Selene, he nods. "I see. Well I was just wondering since you mentioned telepathy if there was anything else you could do, that's all." A shrug. "So you're 'practically' a doctor but not really? As in you don't have the certifications? Why's that? I don't know if it was actual trauma or another reason, since I don't remember. I'm from the planet Daxam. Same sector as Krypton...well, was."
Drake Winters Grunting, Drake gives Lar a poke in the shoulder. "Secret identities are still a thing you know." He says as his lips hook up into a slight grin. "And I'm still normal since I don't actively use my accidental genetic twist." He looks amused at the pair as Kara feeds Lar, chuckling. "I'm glad you like the pot stickers though. It's my favorite snack from back home when I lived in San Francisco."
Kara Danvers Looking triumphant, Kara sits back knowing that now pot stickers are the best. She pops a few into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully as she eyes Drake's General Tso's. "Oh man. I should tell you about my day, big fight. We were clearing out rubble for hours after." She blows out a breath and steals a piece of chicken.
Selene Gallio "Well, after my husband died, I no longer could bring myself to do the work anymore. Too many reminders." Selene says, a bit more melancholy before she quirks her mouth to the side. "Hey, Lar, could I get by you? I should really get going." She looks over to Drake and mentions, "Nice to meet you as well." She presmably is able to scoot out from the booth, assuming Lar gets up to let her out from her seat. "And, enjoy the potstickers and everything else." As she gets out of the booth she pauses and turns back to Lar, "Oh. I don't exzactly have a phone, I never liked them. Just come by here any time, and leave a message with Ai, she's the hostess. She can usually deliver the message, and I can come meet you anywhere if you do want to talk. I hope that you do. Loss of memory is a very serious problem, and it needs to be treated." A look of concern on her face, and then she turns her eyes in the direction of Kara, "Enjoy the food. Kara. Ai will run a tab for you three, so feel free to get whatever else you want. Okay?"
Mon-El     Lar nods somberly. "I...am sorry about your husband." He then stands up to allow Selene to take her leave. "Thank you for everything." he says politely. Watching her leave the restaurnt, he considers her offer. She -seems- to be genuinely concerned...but then again he only just met her. But then again he has also been feeling somewhat desperate lately.

Then his attention is back on Kara. "Oh yeah? Tell me about it." he prods, waiting for her response.
Kara Danvers "Oh, I'm just-" Kara gestures to the "normals" and looks up at Lar. "I mean, I can't say you know, my real job." She tells him and crosses her arms under her chest. "I said I was going to help. Just with Drake...there hasn't been a moment. Do you...you want to go now or something?" She asks and peeks at him mid pout.
Mon-El     "Oh, no I get it, I definitely get it." Lar says quickly to the assertion that she can't give details and also that she intended to help him with the memory loss as well just hadn't gotten a chance yet. "I was just...exploring what other options I had, youu know?" He picks up a second potsticker and finishes eating that one before he continues.

"Just really tired of feeling like an idiot." he sighs, then pauses a moment, staring toward the door where Selene had exited moments earlier. "I mean, do you think I can trust her?"
Kara Danvers "I dunno. I kinda thought I was just meeting Drake. She didn't have like, a whole shirt on." Kara says and steals more of Drake's chicken. "But I guess if you're into that." She huffs. "Do what you like, I think you're judgement is sound enough you'll make the right choice for you." She tells him in a stilted tone, eying the food.
Mon-El     "No, you're right. She didn't." Lar notes. "Kind of like the girls back home always used to dress like whenever they were trying to get my attention. Which happened a lot." he mutters. "Still, if we can't find anything at the Fortress that will help, I may not have a choice. I don't want to ask just anyone to get into my head, but I also don't want to wait until something -really- bad happens. And I mean worse than what's already happened to--to Drake."
Kara Danvers Sliding to her feet Kara looks up at Lar. "So lets go. Right now. Kal said he didn't mind." She tells him and adjusts her scarf. It's a cuter outfit than she normally wears just hanging out. "I also maybe should admit Drake said you were here and some telepath was getting handsy." She blows out a breath before reaching out to tug Lar. "Ok, let's go."
Mon-El     "Right now?" Lar looks somewhat surprised, but he gets up and follows her anyway, waving good-bye to Drake. "Well why not, I guess." He frowns at the admission about what Drake said. "Handsy? What does that mean? Is that another Terran colloquialism?"
Kara Danvers "Oh. Don't worry about it." Kara waves off the questions and leads Lar out of restaurant. "You didn't notice anything...different?" She asks and seems a little put out. Shaking her head she looks skyward. "So, are we going?" She asks and looks over at him. "Up and away?"
Mon-El     "Different about what? Or who?" Lar is just...incredibly confused. She didn't even answer the question about what 'handsy' means.

He chuckles at the question. "Um, well you lead the way, Supergirl. It's your thing. I mean--you know where it is. I'm not even sure what I'd be looking for."
Kara Danvers "Oh forget it. Come on." Kara huffs and shoots into the sky. "Stupid tights, could have worn pants." She mutters, flying ahead of him fast and north. She seems like she's going to make him work to keep up with her. She flies like Kal, hands out in front of her, toes pointed.
Mon-El     Whoosh! Up, up and away they go. Lar zooms off after Kara. He has the ability to keep up with her, certainly, but she is definitely making him work for it. All the while he keeps trying to figure out what the heck she was talking about just now. Maybe he'll ask Drake about it later. Or maybe Laurel...
