Super-Man OK, so Kenan was never exactly the best student in school. He was a decent athlete...and something of a bully. Also, given his father, he was a fair hand in shop class. So what is he doing here? Well, for a few months he has been having dreans where his teacher comes to him and tells him to look for an Artifact, that it is the key to mastering his powers. Given that is seems to be stuck on figuring out how to fly, he figures it is worth a try. So here he is, doing research on ancient Chinese artifacts, trying to figure out what the Artifact is and where it might currently be found. He is not really good at research.
Kitora Alua Kitora Alua was doing research hreself. She had two different books before her, taking notes. On vastly different subjects. One a scientific study on gravitational anomalies, the other a list of historical mutants, seeing if she could track down someone with similar abiliteis to hers.
Super-Man There seems to be a rule, whenever Heroes are about, villains show up. In this case, his name is Alexander Wyvern...and they call him Bookworm. He is after the most famous book in the Library, the Gutenberg Bible. Naturally, being a villain, he has to make a production of things. While his costume may be a bit less showey than most...it is still a costume and so attracts notice.
Super-Man Kenan has had to search though extensive lists of jade artifects taken from China. He has finally found something that fits, "A plaque of red jade square, with a yellow jade dragon inlay, said dragon possessed of claws with five toes each. This item was taken from the Tomb of the First Emperor and brought to San Fransisco, where it was lost in the fire following the great Earthquake."
Kitora Alua Kitora Alua overheard someone talking about a jade artifact as she cocks her head, listening. Wondering what it's about. Jade is cool after all. She finally closes her books, not finding any similiarites. PErhaps this was a bad idea after all. The Asian teenager brushes her bright-red hair back and stands up, stretching.
Super-Man Bookworm is pretty non-violent...he is, after all, an intellectual. He is also very well informed, being a speed reader with an excellent memory. Thus, he tosses some chemicals into a thurible attached to his hat and covers his face with a cloth treated to neutralize the gas thus created, a gas that is putting those who breathe it to sleep. They fall in a widening circle about Bookworm as he steps towards his goal. Some folks scream and run away in a panic, while security guards try to get through the crowd to stop the villain.
Super-Man Kenan cocks his head as he hears the shouting from a lower floor. He frowns and concentrates his power into his thighs, awakening his penetrating vision. He sees the problem and says, "Oh great, just when I was onto something." He puts the book down and gets up, moving his power to his feet he runs out at high speed, leaving a trail of disturbed papers behind him.
Kitora Alua Kitora Alua sighs as she hears screaming. She peeks over and sees the cloud coming from this guy, and people fallign down. Fortunately, her powered form doesn't need to breathe. She jumps over the edge, lighting her aura as she floats over. She floats over the bad guy and gestures, as suddenly, the bad guy would have a hard time moving... for gravity is now inreased fivefold.
Super-Man Bookworm drops to the ground, he can not easily lift five times his own weight. He grasps, "I would not keep this up if I were you, the superstructure of the building will not take the strain. Gravity is a wave form, it extends upwards indefintely." Indeed, if normal physics held sway, he would be right, but superhuman abilities often defy physics.
Super-Man Kenan has a problem...he needs to breathe. He also has a solution...first he uses super breath to freeze the place the gas is coming from...that odd projection from the bad guy's hat. Then he runs through the building at super speed, creating a wind to sisperse the gas so it will not be dense enough to hurt. Of cousre, all this will take a bit of time...
Kitora Alua Kitora Alua snorts as she focuses her field down to pin Bookworm down. "Nonsense. Gravity obeys my whims. It's only intense right around you. And light around me. Now - stop whatever you're doing with that chemical reaction and I'll escort you to the nearest police station. Don't try it on me - it won't work on me." She is floatnig above the Bookworm, hoping that someone would call the police soon.
Super-Man Bookworm seems to be having trouble doing anything under the gravity, but the part of his hat that the gas is coing from is suddenly frozen and there is a fairly strong wind blowing from somewhere that seems to be removing the gas. The police are probaly on the way, bu it will take them a few minutes to arrive.
Kitora Alua Kitora Alua lightens it up a bit, hovering there. Her focus is solely on this bookworm - any accomplices could cause problems if any. Rift is great at locking down a single target. Not so much if there are others. She glances up at Kenan and nods, smilign faintly.
Super-Man Bookworm, like most villains of his stripe, has a number of henchmen. However they are smart enough to realize that, whil they could handle the security guards, they can not handle these two. However, they only need to distract a few people. Plan B is less friendly....the flash point of paper is 451 degrees farenheit, and the henchmen throw out fire bombs to set fire to the building...
Super-Man Kenan is still working at super speed. He sees the fire bombs being armed and thrown and speeds about, grabbing the bombs and removing them to where he can dump them in the nearest body of water...
Kitora Alua Kitora Alua flinches at the firebombs, her distraction wavering a bit but she refocuses on Bookworm soon enough. But instead of high-G, she changes tactics and levitates him upward, separating the hat from his head. Now suspended in zero-G, she continues to hold the bad guy captive, while moving the hat away.
Super-Man While Kenan is still busy with the fire bombs, Bookworms henchmen throw the book at Kitora, literally. She is pelted from all sides by heavy hardback books in an attempt to distract her.
Super-Man Kenan finds a place to soak the bombs barely in time and starts back to the library, leaving the incentiaries harmlessly boiling water.
Kitora Alua Kitora Alua squawks as she is suddenly being pummeled. She can only split her attention so many ways so tries to weave and dodge to avoid the books, trying to hold the boss hostage.... then one lucky shot from the uptairs balcony drops a book right on her head. She drops like a stone, as does the Bookworm, and his hat twenty feeta way which would set fire to the carpet if it's still burning as she groans, her aura flickering.
Super-Man The hat drops...fortunately Kenan froze it in ice earlier so while the ice shatters it sets nothing on fire. Bookworm gives a short quote about strategy...something about knowning when a battle can not be won, and he and his men qickly change to disgiuses as they retreat.
Super-Man Kenan arrives just in time to catch Kitora before she hits the floor. He Quickly uses his X-ray vision to check her for internal injuries, idnoring the thugs for a moment figuring he can use his speed to round them up shortly.
Kitora Alua Kitora Alua's aura winks out as she loses consciousness. She is showing signs of concussion as she groans faintly, swaying, a lump on her head.
Super-Man Kenan frowns, but seeing that the bag guys are fleeing and security has things under control, decides to rush the hurt woman to the nearest emergency room for treatment (or rather, one of those clnics that serve in place of emergancy rooms). The Police can hopefully find the Bookworm and his gang without help.
