Havok He's got his back against the wall as he sits in the final booth along the length of the diner. To his right are the windows, to the left, the isle and then the bar where other patrons sit and get foodstuffs. It's mid afternoon and Alex Summers (publically known as Havok) is seated comfortably while wearing combat boots, black cargo pants, a black unstable molecule long sleeved shirt that fits nicely over his broad chest and shoulders. To his right, in the seat is his high tech black leather-like jacket with a very large red X on the left shoulder and even one on the back. It's clear he doesn't mind showing his colors and isn't afraid of the big bad wolf - whoever that may be this week. His hair is a 90s mess and unkempt but stylish and before him sits a thick chocolate malt in a tall glass with a straw that's been half drunk. His blue eyes scan from his phone on the table to the outside world where the sun is shining, but it's quite cold outside - not that the cold ever bothers him since he's a nuclear reactor.
Sandra Into the cafe comes Sandy, who has made it in a few times over the last couple of weeks. Now that she has transferred to a local hospital from Long Island, the bus routes gives her a window between stops to snag some lunch before her twelve to fourteen hour shifts. Dressed in a heavy parka and her blue nurse scrubs and winter boots, she is unzipping the jacket to wiggle out of it once she slips into a booth not too far away from Alex. Her knit cap is tugged off her head and she ruffles her dark hair into place. A Star Trek crossword puzzle is set down on the table next to her cap as she plucks a menu up to begin scanning it curiously. She looks tired with a bit of dark rings beneath her eyes, but despite it all, she has a warm smile on her face as she flips through the plastic pages. After awhile, she sighs and settles on a bowl of oatmeal and a glass of orange juice, but, oh, geez, those pancakes look good!

After putting the menu to the side, she lifts her head up to catch Alex in front of her as she is facing his direction. She gives an upbeat smile in his direction, then opens her book and slips a pen out to begin working her way through the 1970's era of Kirk and Spock puzzles.
Havok Alex will note the new entry. He won't stare, but he's observant like police or military. He seems to give everyone that 'inspecting' look when his eyes find a new target. As she de-parkas and reveales that which is underneath, he will have some sort of register in his mind. When their eyes meet and she smiles, he'll do the same with a slight nod. But after a moment he'll stand and close the distance to slide into the seat across from her. He's not trying to be rude, but there's really just limited standing space and he's obviously forthright or direct. Especially when he says, "Hey there. I'm Alex Summers. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you're a nurse, doctor, medical professional of some sort and was curious if you worked in Mutant Town."
Sandra He has that look about him. Cop. Military. So, Sandy, just keep smiling and he won't have an issue to throw you on the ground and arrest you. Oh. Shit. He's coming over here. Did she give a guilty looking smile? Her grin stretches wider across her face in that awkward moment as he slides in across from her. When he asks the question, she takes in a deep breath and says, "Ah. No. I don't work in mutant town. My bus stops off here, and then my next one is in an hour, so, I sorta fell in love with the potpie here one night and now I'm /addicted/ to their dinner specials and even their three in the morning apple pie, so.. I just keep coming in... I work in Brooklyn, live in Long Island so it's just a journey." She says with bubbling energy about her as she pulls her book a bit closer to her. ".. And you are ... a ... member of Swat?" She pauses, then realizes. "Oh. Yes. I'm a nurse. Trauma ward! I get all the fun patients, you know... the YouTubers who jump off roofs to impress their girls and shatter their legs .. um... the gang members who shoot each other up.. the car crash victims.. those are the worse... um... I sorta .. fix them... I try to... um... " She pauses now, another awkward grin.
Havok There's more than his presence, he's also warmer than the average bear. The room is 'room temperature', it's cold outside, and he's just /warm/ (physically) - what a great disadvantage to have, especially in the winter. His blue eyes don't wander and they remain in her own as she speaks. But when she notes she doesn't work directly in Mutant Town, there's a hint of disappointment and even a subtle frown to the corners of his mouth. His response is casual, nonchalant as he states, "X-Man. But too bad. I was hoping you worked for the local clinic. I was gonna ask some hipaa violating questions." And he smiles, knowing that it would be breaking the law.
Sandra "Oh! You're an X-Man! Oh.. /oh/.. um... d... do you know then?" Sandy asks in a soft voice to him so only they can hear. "Is that why you came over to me?" When he states why he was really here for, she clears her throat. "Oh ... err... of course! Yes.. I mean ... ask away!" She says with a nervous giggle as she brushes some hair back behind her ear. "I don't volunteer here but I can if they need the help? I literally don't do anything on my days off but watch TV and play Sudoku .. I'm Sandy by the way. Sandra.. but .. you can call me Sandy. Everyone does. Only because this one guy would always call me Bullocks and I wasn't sure if he was trying to insult me in a British way or compare me to that old school actress but I started calling myself Sandy afterwards... " She stops rambling for a moment, blushing as she taps her pen against her book. ".. But, yes, questions?"
Havok Her reactions and lowered voice draws a smile from the blonde X-Man and Alex leans in a bit to listen closer to her whispered words. Elbows on the table, eager to hear what she has to say he realizes that she's alluding to something about her personally before she corrects herself. Well, she is in Mutant Town, there is a large population therein, maybe... Never the less, Alex will re-introduce himself once she's done rambling like a rambler, "Alex Summers, Good to meet you, Sandy." His smile remains but he shakes his head. "I was just going to ask about a patient. But since you're not in 'Mutant General', then you wouldn't have access to that info." <mutant general is the nickname for the run-down hospital in Mutant Town> He also leaves the allusion alone, for now. But will see if she expounds on the subject that she wanted to whisper about.
Sandra "Oh. Well .. I mean ... if their records are on the computer and they use the EPIC software that all hospitals are required to, I'd have access to their files from my own hospital because they're linked together. It's so that if you go from one hospital to another to see a doctor, you don't have to start from scratch. They just tap their e-pad and you pop up, all detailed history and stuff." Sandra says as she taps her pen a few more times on the notebook quickly. Even though it's a violation, she does not seem to be too bothered by it. She just continues to smile at him. "It's nice to meet you Alex Summers of the X-Men. You're the first X-Man I've ever met. What's the name of this patient you were curious about? Maybe I can answer basic questions of their health if you were concerned and you can tell me a little bit about what's going on?"
Havok There's another hrmm that comes from his throat as Alex ponders all the channels and steps she would need to go to violate the law. He denies further pursuit of the thought, "Nah, it's okay. Let's just keep you out of trouble." Then he'll offer a segue to get off the subject and he'll go ahead and offer some information, "We normally hold up in our super secret base that's really not a secret because some of the student idjits are always blabbing about it. I came to realize that having a presence in this burg was the best way to make a difference and be in touch with the people. Our people." He goes out on a limb with that last assumption and then clarifies.. "Which I'm guessing that you're one of us, too?"
Sandra "Oh. I don't think I'd get in trouble. I'm pretty good with these systems and I know how to erase my tracks." Sandy says as she opens her book to reveal her crosswords, beginning to work on them with the tip of her tongue sticking out between her teeth. "A super secret base, huh? Is it underground or in a tall building shaped with a letter X?" She says a bit teasingly to him, then sputters out as he asks that question. Before she can answer, her oatmeal and juice arrives and she tugs it over quickly with a big smile to the waitress. "Thanks, Bonny!" She says with gusto before taking a large bite, mumbling around her spoon. ".. maybe."
Havok Alex will chuckle as he leans back in the booth and notes sarcastically, "It may as well be a big X shaped building. Like X-Marks the spot where to attack or bring all your lost friends home with you since they need a home too." He then says in a lower voice with a grin and regards the whole mutant secret thing. Which mutant town doesn't really have secrets since most are mutants themselves - or guilty by association, "Show me yours, and I'll show you mine."
Sandra "I can't show you mine." Sandra mumbles under her breath as she crams in another bite of oatmeal into her mouth, chewing a few times. "It's not a big deal though. I just .. I don't talk about it.. if they found out, I'd get fired from the hospital." She says as she nervously clicks the spoon against her bowl. "I love my job. My job is my life and I worked very hard."
Havok "Sounds like discrimination to me. Which is what we fight against. Sure, they can't terminate you for being a mutant. But they can make some crap up to get rid of you. But... it's the very reason the X-Men exist. To bring equal rights and privilages to mutants everywhere." Alex says as if he's offering an educational moment. Then adds, "But I'll keep your secret. Me; I project plasma. Blow crap up."
Sandra ".. They can terminate me because I falsified paperwork to get hired. Um.. I'm sorta .. invincible I think? I can't show them paperwork that proves I've taken certain shots or had blood drawn because needles can't pierce my skin... I'm also really strong. Like I can pick up a car.. a small car.. " Sandra says softly to him in a whisper as she hunkers over her bowl of oatmeal a bit more. Guardian oatmeal! "So .. I did .. things I'm not proud of to get hired, but I was desperate. I put in all that work .. I went to school full time and worked full time and I paid for it with every penny I had and I just ... I just couldn't throw it all away.."
Havok "I hope there wasn't a box on the paperwork that read; 'check here if mutant'.", declares Alex but then he pieces it together. "Oh. I get it now. Yeah, that could get someone fired. But you should know. I have contacts that could help you out with those injections. Our resident genius, Hank, can, and has workarounds for problems like that."
Sandra "Hank McCoy?" Sandra asks curiously. "I heard about him. He's the really big blue guy with the fur, right? I've read a lot of his papers. He's soooo smart." She says with a bright smile on her face. "Oh, geez, I'm so fascinated with his brain. I dual majored in biology and chemistry and I had a chance to dabble into a lot of his work." She props her chin up again, relaxing and looking more comfortable now. "But uh ... I don't even know if I can get sick. But, I think I could definitely use a flu shot at the bare minimum."
Havok Alex gives a nod to the recognition of her blue beast description. "That would be him. I'll get you two in the same room together. Make it work. Cause you really don't need to be working illegal, especially around people with cooties." Alex smiles, makes a subtle joke about the situation. He glances down at his watch, "Oh damn." is muttered.
Sandra "Oh. I think it would be great to meet him! I'm sure he is a very interesting person." Sandra says with excitement in her voice at the chance of meeting one of her academic idols. As he eyes his watch, she looks curiously over at him. "You have to go I take it?"
Havok He slides out of the booth and says, "Sorry. Gotta hit the local school. Doing a talk in 20." he turns back toward his original booth to grab his jacket while saying, "Gimmie your number. I'll text you the setup when I get with Hank." He grabs his jacket, slides into it. The big red X is very present. He makes his way back to her booth and pulls out his phone.
Sandra Taking her own fancy glass phone out, Sandra draws a smiley face on the screen to unlock it, then launches the new contact menu up to type in: Alex Summers. She gives him her number, rattling off the digits easily. "I can't wait. That will be so fun. I have um... weekends off currently which is amazing. Only because we have a lot of new interns that just came in so we're making them work those. So, if he would be willing to meet me on a Saturday I can make it work."
Havok "I'm sure he'll be happy to help." Alex says after putting her number in his phone with name. "But hey, good meeting ya and we'll talk." His smile is reflected in his blue eyes just before he walks off with a strong, steady stride. The little bell signals his exit.
Sandra Giving him a grin back in return, Sandra's cheeks flush a bit as she twirls a strand of hair about her fingers for a moment, watching him walk off. "Bye!" She calls over with a wave of her hand, followed by a soft giggle as she turns back to her oatmeal. ".. I got an X-Man's number." She grins to herself before going back to her crossword.
