Black Panther Not really a formal occasion, but it's not like the King of Wakanda can travel around New York without running into people he knows form his past. Sometimes, it's at something political. Other times, it's at at a sporting event. Today, however, it's a concert. Sure, it's a tribal band from Africa. It's part of the reason he went to attend. It's a Wakandan dance troupe, travelling the globe to share their music and history. Of course, the fact they're here in town while he is as well is a bit of a coincidence. But, being here, he certainly could not miss it. Perhaps you had brought some of the kids from the school for a culture trip, or perhaps you just wanted to attend, but he walks along during the intermission, having decided to get a beverage and as one of the Dora Milaje offered to do it, his smile just widened and he said in a calming voice, "It is fine. I can go get a drink myself without having to bother all of you. And if I remember correctly, your cousin is part of the show is she not? Sit and enjoy and do what family does when other parts of the family are doing something that makes them proud."
Ororo Munroe When Ororo had heard of the performance, she had immediately purchased a single ticket. This was not for the school. Perhaps another showing, another time. This show would be personal for her. It was a glimpse into a world she had left far behind so long ago. Africa still called to her, beckoning from afar and asking for her to return. Goddess knew, she missed it. Yet, she was doing good work here. She had purpose, without living that childhood fantasy of being a goddess. Or a queen.

The mere thought of her youth spent with her dashing boyfriend was enough to bring a nostalgic smile to her face. Though they had parted ways, it had been on good terms. He had his duties. She had her calling from a certain professor. In the end, it simply had not been meant to happen. She had accepted that long ago.

As she walked into the lobby, she drew a few eyes with her striking appearance. It wasn't often that one saw a woman of color with a mane of pure white hair and blue, cat-like eyes. She was tall and regal, wearing a simple strapless black sheath dress that showed her form, the hem falling just above her knee. A glass of champagne was in her left hand as she sipped, watching the crowd.
Black Panther Well then. You get the first look. For as you are watching the crowd, he is standing there with a smile on his face as a couple of kids are staring at a churro machine. "You mean they cover it in cinnamon and sugar? You are exaggerating. One or the other maybe but surely not both," he says in disbelief as the two kids point, trying to let facts speak for themselves. He looks to the mom with them as he takes out a bill, and she smiles as wide as he does as he orders four. For a moment, it looks like they could be a family, a portrait of what could be, someday, but as they make their way off he is left standing alone, turning to look into the auditorium and the stadium seating, the giant screen that's playing some sort of light show at the moment during intermission.

Biting into the churro, bits of the yummy topping go all over his black shirt as he looks down and brushes it away, a chuckle as there's a little in the light bit of facial hair he carries as well. https://cnet3.cbsistatic.com/img/56Ln9sLYvTDccIm0E1NruSNVo3c=/970x0/2017/11/02/3ac34fa5-0465-47f4-bf0c-ef36f886da42/cnet-boseman-chadwick-347-2-1-rgb-crouch.jpg He's dressed for the cool New York evenings and has turned his gaze a bit when he catches you as well, white hair standing out and there's a bit of a squint to his eyes, a studying, before a slowly growing smile.
Ororo Munroe As Ororo takes another sip of her bubbly, she catches sight of the last person she had expected to see. For a moment, her heartbeat speeds up as memories flash through her mind. It is fleeting and a moment later, she is giving a serene smile and a nod in his direction. She puts the glass on a nearby server's tray and walks toward the Prince -- No, he is now King of Wakanda. She lets her gaze flick over him every so briefly, taking in the man that he has become instead of the boy she knew. They had both been so young.

She moved through the crowed with a natural grace, coming to a stop a few feet in front of him. "Your Highness," she says with a nod of her head in his direction.
Black Panther It's funny. Of course he knows they follow but as you so directy step forward you can see two women, dressed to bled in with matching pants and tops, as well as matching jackets (to each other, not him) suddenly appear at his side and he looks left then right, before he laughs softly and says, "Ladies. I am King. There is more than enough of me to go around. I am fine," he says to his two guards and as you stand with your head bowed slightly a gentle touch of his hand catches just under your chin, his hand in a soft fist as he uses the side of his finger to help raise your head and he inclines his in return, a warm smile. "There was a time where you were not so formal, Ororo," his voice soft but as your head does hopefully come up his hand slides away.

"It is lovely to see you. I am not surprised you are here, but it is a welcome one that you and I were able to bump into each other." And so he looks about a moment, perhaps a glance towards your hand, before he asks, "Are you here with anyone this evening? Or may I invite you up to watch the second half with us?"
Ororo Munroe Ororo raises her head when she feels the pressure of his finger beneath her chin. Her blue eyes meet his brown. As his hand falls away, her smile returns. "There was a time when you were not King," she responds with a touch of amusement to her tone. She glances to the two Dora who are remaining nearby, watching her while keeping an eye on the crowd. "Nor were you chaperoned then."

He will find no rings adoring any of her fingers. No difference in skin tone to show where one had been either. "I chose to attend alone," she admits. "I could not let a Wakandan troupe go through without seeing for myself. It brings back...pleasant memories." She doesn't elaborate. She doesn't have to. "I would be honored to join you."
Black Panther He doesn't seem sad to hear that. "What a pity," he says, when you mention you came alone but it is clear that if there is one thing the King of Wakanda is not good at, it is feigning sincerity. He offers his arm, and one can see the two Dora start walking back towards the box that he has. He grins, "Okoye will be glad to see you," he offers, which may be true but it is entirely possible that at the sight of her King being fairly distraut for a bit after the break up, not due to any maliciousness but just the sadness at losing someone special....that she may have made some very interesting promises he is curious to see her decide if she's going to follow through on 'if she ever saw you again.'

The box is nice, and there are some drinks and food - light finger fare, nothign too heavy. Certainly some fruit and vegetables with dip, some bread and hummus, and a little bit of meat such as a nice prosciutto or such. Nothing too heavy or fancy. He makes his way in with you as the lights dim, and he quickly pours you a replacement glass of champagne before pouring simply a glass of water for himself and he moves to sit, what had been his one seat with no one else in the row in the elevated box now to have company as you will sit next to him. "You look well. Fit. Rested. Have you been on vacation?"
Ororo Munroe As they enter the booth, Ororo takes a moment to look around for Okoye. Not seeing the woman, she moves to the proferred seat and settles in. The snacks are ignored. She does accept the flute of champagne, taking a small sip before she turns to his inquiry. That earns another smile. "You are being kind now instead of truthful," she says with a hint of playful reproach in her tone. "I have taken a bit of time to myself of late but I am back a the school. Thus, dealing with teenagers at all hours. It is amazing the amount of drama that can be created by those so young."

That mischief is dancing in her blue eyes as she says the words. After all, they both know first hand what sort of mischief teens can cause. They were teens once.
Black Panther Black Panther chuckles. "I would think that it would not be all that much of a surprise to one as well traveled as you. Teacher...gardner...thief..." he teases a bit, knowing at least a little bit about your past as even when he says the word his hand comes to rest over yours out of old habit, just squeezing affectionately and showing that despite the phrasing, there is no ill will in his actions. "It is not easy to teach those who think they know everything. Children have an air of invincibility, taught to them by their family that tries hard to build them up and let them know they and accomplish even the greatest of tasks if they try. Add to that...abilities...like are out there in the world..." (or in this booth) "...and it is harder to get through. But worse are those who rather than being built up but have instead been knocked down over and over. They are like the injured animals in the wild who cannot risk letting anyone in close so they snap before there is even a threat. How can you heal what you can not touch?" He gives a quiet little shrug as the music has begun and the dance troupe picks up. He doesn't have more to add but instead acknowledges the drama...and perhaps, subtly, the importance of what you do.
Ororo Munroe "The wounded ones are easier for me to relate to," Ororo admits. To the X-Men, she would be able to admit such a thing. Most outsiders would never get to learn that much about her past. She keeps it apart from her, not that she is ashamed. It simply is part of what made her the strong woman she is today. T'Challa knows this more than most though. He is as close to her as the team she serves.

Or he was.

She doesn't continue the conversation though, instead letting herself be drawn in by the spectacle on the stage. The music of Wakanda filling the theater and holding her close, the embrace of a long lost friend.

She also doesn't pull away her hand.
Black Panther He doesn't keep his hand too long. A little longer as you do not pull away, but he doesn't assume things either. The King should not get entangled so easily without knowing that there would not be an issue, and your old friend respects you far too much to just assume that where you left off as a pair is where the two would pick back up. These things take time, pursuit, and in that, The King part of him knows you are very worth of pursuing. "It does not help that our big world is getting smaller, and that our universe is getting bigger, hmm? All of that out there in the sky, and all of it seeming focused on our little world. So much to have to think about, to have to be ready for," he says.

Still he sits back as well, tapping his foot to the music in time, and if you're paying attnetion, the women one at a time take a turn at the back getting one of those churros that have shown up since he got back. A treat for them. To be fair some of them probably are still girls, 18 sure when he travels but still, young, inexperienced in life. And, as such, young enough to enjoy a treat rather than watch their King have all the spoils. Not that they would object, but he is close to his people and like a proud papa at times perhaps indulges or spoils them. "Perhaps you will show me around your school sometime? I know it is very important to you."
Ororo Munroe At the question, Ororo glances over at him in surprise. Certainly speaking a bit, sharing the cultural display on the stage, those things are expected. She isn't a child anymore. He is no longer a prince trying to be just a boy either. They are both adults with their own responsibilities. Hers took her away from the wilds of their continent. His keep him there, having led to him taking on the mantle of King. She is not so naive to think there will be anything between them again.

It is nice to reconnect with an old friend though. That makes it all worthwhile. "I would love to. Xavier's is a very special place. The work we do is important. We help prepare the children, so they can live in a world that sometimes hates them for something that was not their choice. A gene has made them misunderstood and, at times, despised." So many words spoken, her passion is there to be seen. "We try to be sure they are ready to face that. We make sure they are in control of their powers before they leave, so they are no danger to others."
Black Panther "It is settled then," he says and it seems like the conversation the whole time was paced, for even as you say you would love to, the show ends and he stands, clapping. It is a show he has seen many times, but one he never grows tired of, in the same way he does nto grow tired of his people or his job as their protector. He finishes the standing ovation and leans down to you, pressing a kiss simply and gently to your cheek, before he takes one of your hands in his and bows politely. "It was a delight to see you again, Ororo. I must go congratulate the troupe. They know I am here but I will come by your school soon so you can show me this place that means so much to you. If it means as much to you as it seems, then it should probably be a place that means a lot to me." And so he smiles, stepping back then, releasing your hand when he has to and as he starts to walk up with his contingent he looks back and says, "But if you want me to see the school and not just you, I suggest you don't wear that dress." And with that he finishes going out to meet the troupe.
