Veronica Lodge Veronica Lodge called for a day by the river. Some fresh air, some relaxation. The perfect thing for helping Archie to finish recovering from being sick. She's brought the picnic, a big picnic basket with an actual red and white checker blanket to lay out for them to eat on. The blanket is fairly big so they'll have plenty of space. It's still a little early in spring for swimming up in the great white north, but it's warm enough to at least lounge by the river, and maybe stick a foot in, so Veronica is out in her daisy dukes and a loose and billowing white peasant blouse. She walks up to the edge of the river and sets the basket down on the ground, her other hand holding the blanket. "Help me spread the blanket Archiekins?" She asks, turning towards you and offering you a loose corner of the folded up blanket. Then the unfolding and shaking out of the blanket will commence until it's laid out on the bright green grass and she can move the picnic basket to the blanket before she takes a seat herself, after kicking her sandals off at the edge of the blanket of course.
Archie Andrews Of course, just as you're turning around he's comingup behind you and he lifts you up, acting like he's about to toss you into the cold river but he knows better. He grins and sets you back down after a moment, giving you a hug and a kiss to a bare shoulder in the peasant blouse before he nods, "Alright," he says, taking it and laying it out with you, setting it down and knowing that it is probably he will incur a little Ronnie-wrath but for the occasional prank it's totally worth it. Blanket spread out, check. Food set on the blanket so it doesn't fly away? Check. Shoes off so he doesn't get the blanket dirty? Double-check. "What did you bring?" In other words....what did the bestest chef on the face of planet Earth prepare for them both?
Veronica Lodge Veronica Lodge squeals as she's picked up and realizes that she might very well end up in the river. Her legs kick and she starts smacking at the hands that have a hold of her. "Archie Andrews you put me down righ tnow. Don't you put me in that river I will...." Then she's back on the ground on her own two feet. There's a deep sigh of relief and she turns to scowl at you. It's a playful scowl though. "Thank you, for that heart racing moment of terror." A flat stare from her, though she can't keep the smile off her face, it tugs at the corner of her lips until she's smiling as the blanket gets laid out. "Chef made brisket last night, and was going to save it for something else I may have snuck it out of the kitchen and made sandwiches with it. Yes I made sandwiches. But chef caught me and then helped me with the rest of the basket." She pulls out an insulated container in which the sandwiches rest, still warm if not hot anymore. She also pulls out a bowl full of sliced up fruits, some vegetables, some dip for the veggies, juice and tea. She pulls out a feast. Way more than she can eat. Most of it is clearly meant for the big strapping jock sitting next to her on the blanket.
Archie Andrews He has brought something too. It's like....one thing he knows how to make. Zucchini bread with apple butter with a citrus twist. He has it with him too so that there's that for dessert or a snack with the bread. But the feast is set up and he has no problem trying to have way more than he needs to. He is content to settle down though and yhou can see him lean in towards the sandwiches and take a deep breath. A vegetarian your Archie will never be. He seems pleased though and takes out the tea and juice, waiting to see which one you want before either popping the top off or pouring it for you. You know he'll eat the fruit too. The veggies however will likely require encouragement. He stays fit cause he's active. His diet hwoever is not nearly as well balanced as yours but then of course that's how you too stay looking like a billion dollars when you're only worth a few million. "I like making you squeal," he adds with a wicked grin.
Veronica Lodge Veronica Lodge pops the top on the thermos box containing the sandwiches. "Figured we'd want them to be at least warm." They are warm, verging on hot so they're at a pretty good eating temperature. There's four sandwiches, and you know Ronnie won't eat more than one herself. "Dig in mister weak and helpless." A sly tone and look in her eye at that, her lips curling into a tight grin that she tries to hide as she unpacks the rest of the food. She doesn't start with a sandwich right away, she grabs some cut up celery and pops a piece into her mouth sans dip. She chews slowly, her eyes turning onto the slowly rolling river. "Archie Andrews." Ronnie murmurs in a soft hiss of surprise at that last comment. She turns her head, looking around them, and when she looks back you'll be able to see that the little princess is actually blushing a little. She clears her throat softly and takes a bite from a baby carrot.
Archie Andrews He seems rather pleased with himself. You can see the smug look. It's all over his features. But he clearly enjoys getting to have that little bit of fun as you blush and he does dig into the sandwich. He was good, waiting for you to say it's okay but you can tell how excited he is. You do realize that if you ever get rid of chef it's possible that your relationship could be in jeopardy? In the mean time, however, he grins and leans in, giving you a kiss first, sort of his way of saying 'grace' a thanks for the food and then he puts the sandwich on a plate and unwraps it, taking it out and licking some of the juice from his fingertip before he digs in, taking a bit of the juice as well and letting out an 'mmmmmmmmmmmmm' as his eyes close and he yums. Yes...the key to Archie's heart is definitely through food.
Veronica Lodge There's a light, but sweet and tangy barbecue sauce on the sandwich. Kind of like Arby's sauce, just you know, made by a professional chef so way nummier. Veronica eats the rest of the handful of veggies she picked up before she grabs a sandwich as well and unwraps it. She doesn't just dig into it wholesale though, she pulls a plastic knife out of the picnic basket and cuts her sandwich into quarters, fingers daintily picking up a quarter of the sandwich to nibble on, though she smiles in genuine happiness, and a little amusement as she watches her red headed Adonis chow down on his. "I thought some good hearty food, some fresh air, and a little me time would do you some good. And by me time of course I mean we time." She means you spending time with her time. There's that smug little smile of hers before she fills a cup with some juice to take a few sips from it and wash down the food she's eaten so far.
Archie Andrews He chuckles, a little, "You do realize the food is just a bonus. The you time is the best part, and by you time, I mean we time," he says with a littl egrin. "Yes, I knew what you meant. And believe it or not I like this almost as much as when we sit in bed, eat ice cream, and watch horrible tv," he says happily. He does take another bite though, making it hard to reward him for such cute phrasing cause, well, his mouth is full, but he does look out at the water and enjoys. Water is his happy spot. You've seen that - rainy days, showers, pools, the river. There's something about him and the water that just click, that brings out a side of him that's happy, mellow, confident...all at the same time. He takes a deeper breath now and relaxes, enhaling slowly and then exhaling again, pointing up at a few of the birds flying between the tree tops.
Veronica Lodge "Oh don't you lie to me Archie Andrews. I know you're only dating me for my chef." Veronica's chin tilts upwards, nose in the air so to speak. She takes a couple more prim little bites from her quarter sandwich, finishing the piece off, chewing and swallowing, and even taking a drink of juice before she looks back over to you. The river smells great, the fresh water, fresh air, the patch of honey suckle on the bank just a short ways upwind so the scent blows down and over them. Yeah, Ronnie picked this spot out quite specifically. "It is a beautiful view." She remarks in her cocky little tone, eyes on her Archie, and then out on the river. She means both. "Well, you've been cooped up in your house for days. I thought this would be a good way to get you out of there for a bit, and give us some time together."
Archie Andrews "It is...." he says as he looks out and with most of the first sandwich gone he goes for efficiency and puts the rest in, and wipes his fingers on a napkin. Look see? Usually he would have just licked them but you have brought culture to your heathen redhead. He sits back though, laying back casually and looking out over the woods, over the river and as he lays back a little he sighs, glad to be outside. He tilts his head back, though is glad you picked a spote with shade as it means he won't end up fried to a crisp. He looks over at you, laying back to and he does it. He goes with the totally cheesy line. "It's a better view now," he says, looking at you leaning back, and the short shorts. Ronnie-legs are a site worth seeing and so he grins, brushing his leg to yours, briefly, before he asks..."You forgot to mention what chef packed for dessert?" The real reason chef likes cooking for Archie? You all pay him and of course like the work he does. Archie is just a pure food enthusiast and chef appreciates that.
Veronica Lodge Veronica Lodge even claps lightly when she spots you using a napkin instead of your hand to wipe your mouth. She doesn't make any snide or cheeky comments, she doesn't need to, the light golf clap was enough. She's smirking though if you look her way, her eyes flickering away from you and down to her food, fingers grabbing another quarter of her sandwich, taking small bites from it, though she's already slowing down in her eating, already getting full. But then you're laying down and being all cute and stuff, and she smiles, her eyes rolling at the cheesy line. She wraps the remains of her sandwich up and puts it back in the container before she coots over and lays down next to you, pointedly pulling one of your arms behind her so she can rest her head on it, snuggling in against your side. "A blueberry tart with key lime merengue on top." She murmurs, laughing softly. "But I'm sure you don't need any of that. I'm sweet enough already." Right?
Archie Andrews He nods, "No, you're right. we don't need it...but...it would be a shame to put his hard effort to waste. I mean...it's not like it's going to eat itself," he offers, as a counterpoint as he leans next to you again, and lays back, putting his arm out if you wan tto lay down rather than keep eating. Looking up though, he sees the clouds and listens to the river and you see Archie do something he rarely does - he just closes his eyes. You wnated to get him out, get him some fresh air, get him a good chance to relax and it is a very clear and concrete case of mission accomplished. Letting his eyes close he takes a little breath and then a deeper one and lets out an 'mmmmm' as he just stretches out those long athletic legs and uses one hand as a pillow, while the other makes room for Ronnie to lay down if she wishes.
Veronica Lodge "Fine, we'll eat the tart." She remarks, leaning over to kiss you on the cheek lightly, then snuggling in against your side, laying her head on your chest. "This is nice. No parents telling us what to do. No friends interupting us. Just... us." She smiles warmly and lets her eyes close. "Naptime?" She murmurs softly, warm breath tickling against your chest as she lays there, quite relaxed and content for the time being.
