Brooke Harris Brooke tidied up the studio calmly, just in case somebody else shows up during the big chunk of time set aside for private lessons other than the appointment that appeared on her calendar. Hot water is prepared, tea tidied, mats swept, floor dusted. She stops, sinks into a standing meditative posture, relaxing into it and spreads her senses out, waiting for someone to arrive at the door, which is unlocked awaiting a guest.
Vindicator     Heather happens to be such a guest. She's not quite obviously in her armor, but she does have it on, just not completely. She opens the door and tilts her head. "Hello there." She says adjusting her glasses as she closes the door. "You are...." and she looks at her phone. "....Brooke?"
Brooke Harris Brooke nooks up and nods, "I am. Come in, please; make yourself comfortable. Would you like tea?" She gestures to a small table along a wall in an alcove, smiles, and moves that way. Not a sound, light and graceful footsteps without a drop of wasted effort. She turns and looks you over carefully, considering which to offer. "Sometimes I can guess which to offer, but.. not always."
Vindicator     "It's always good to, at least, make the effort. Lest you seem arrogant." Heather smiles and heads over that way as well. "Well, you may as well tell me about yourself. I imagine you already know I'm Heather McNeil-Hudson." She says starting to sit down.
Brooke Harris Brooke considers thoughtfully, then pulls out a chrysanthemum tea, setting cups and a kettle on the table evenly between the chairs before sitting gracefully. "Brooke Harris. It is a pleasure to meet you. I'm afraid I have no idea how much or little of my reputation has preceeded me; I try to keep it modest, but some of the YouTube and news footage can be a bit.. well."

She bows her head a bit and pours, then gestures to the cups to let you choose a cup. "I teach martial arts here, and do some accupressure massage and the like. I try not to get a very inflated reputation, but, well... some of it is deserved. I have been helping Green Arrow and Black Canary recently on some.." She gestures vaguely, "projects."
Vindicator     "yes I know. They're, actually the reason why I'm here." Heather says as she lifts a folded piece of paper. "Essentially, this paper says that Green Arrow and Black Canary highly recommended you to become a part of Alpha Flight." She says as her eyebrows raise. "We're not the Avengers, nor do we want to. We don't need the spotlight like they do, and feed their egos just so they can stop a bank robbery. We're here to help people. Some of it is a sense of duty. Others for the thrill, but we still help people. Media be damned."
Brooke Harris Brooke nods softly, voice soft and soothing. "I have a serious dislike of seeing innocent people hurt. Part of it comes from being able to sense and work with life energy. And... I don't much care for spotlights, really. They happen sometimes, and there's nothing to do for it but wait for the moment to pass." She smiles softly and lets you continue.
Vindicator     "Good." Heather seems to relax a little bit. "would your dojo be able to handle itself without you? And...how many people know who your are....when you fight crime?"
Brooke Harris Brooke shrugs slightly. "My mother runs it, mostly. I do a little bit of work by appointment.. mostly one on one lessons and accupressure sessions for people with extra money."

She frowns faintly. "I try to keep my name seperate, but there are enough people who know that I can't say my identity is a secret with a straight face anymore. I trained with quite a few people who call on me sometimes with issues. I try not to make any specific enemies."
Vindicator     "All right. This has come up before....since villains can be vindictive little pricks." Heather shakes her head. "Just....keep in mind who and who doesn't know your name, because enemies will go after people, just to find out who you are, and if they can't beat you directly, they'll kipnap friends, family, children, parents, grandparents........Husbands." It sounds like she has a bit of experience in that. "Any leverage they can get on you, they'll try. Even if it meants putting someone close to you in harm's way."
Brooke Harris Brooke nods. "Well aware. Sadly, the list got long before I was in any position to do anything heroic to begin with. I'm just a martial artist. I didn't go to a monastery in an obscure lost part of the world to study or anything, I picked the brains of a lot of elderly and respected masters in Canada, China, and America."

She tilts her head, gesturing between cups uncertainly before taking the one further from your hand and sipping. "They are masters. We read stances and things. If they see me in a mask on TV, as soon as I attack, they say 'That looks a lot like Brooke. I should call her and ask if she can look into those ninjas who are harassing my student's school.' So." She shrugs a bit. "That's what I end up doing a lot."
Vindicator     "Which drives you to be better so you can protect them better." Heather then sips a bit of tea. "This is pretty good." She says softly before she looks back to Brooke. "So....What would you do as a member of Alpha Flight?"
Brooke Harris Brooke tilts her head. "Honestly? I would have thought you would know that. I can help out; I can help train people, or I can help heal. But I am not sure what you would want. I am trying to protect people, and improve myself, and help a few people who want to make themselves better."

She gestures at the folded piece of paper. "Obviously, some people approve of what I am doing. I must be doing something right." She meshes her fingers together. "If you think that what I am trying to do is a good match with what you are trying to do, then the question answers itself, does it not?" She smiles, lowering her hands and taking the cup for another sip of tea.
Vindicator     Heather smirks a bit. "As much as this is a meeting, it's also a job interview. It's along the same lines as 'What do you see yourself doing in 5 years, or 10 years?' I fought for government funding and we've got some rather....quirky, but reliable people. I don't want you signing up and not have an idea of what you're getting into."
Brooke Harris Brooke nods. "Well. Job interviews go both ways, in my experience." She shakes her hair out slightly and stretches out her shoulders a little. "So. Tell me about the offer you want me to decide on. What do you feel are some opportunities for service that might mesh well with what you know of me? I know I am bettering myself and protecting people, here and in the US. I have some people I am keeping track of there. Would I be.. more able to help, and learn, and train, and teach working with you? Or would that be an issue?" Another sip of tea and a smile.
Vindicator     "It can, yes. And I know of very little of you except what was relayed to me. So I'm trying to get to know you a little. Admittedly, I took an antagonistic tone to partly see how you could handle someone like that. You did fine." She then pops her neck. "Tell you what, Brooke, despite Canary being an excellent fighter in her own right, we could use another. So, if we can rely on you.....we'll be calling on you our next mission...."
Brooke Harris Brooke nods. "Of course. Canary is better at some things, but I seem quieter so far. And of course, Canary can't tell you how many people are in the next room without opening the door like I can, and she certainly can't tell you that the one on the left is half asleep on caffiene." She drains the last of the tea, setting the cup down quietly. "And she can't make internal bleeding stop on a teammate by giving them a shoulder rub, either. I'm not hard to find, just let me know."
Vindicator     heather smiles and drinks the rest of her tea. "Right. Also, if you need help, don't hesitate to call for help. I can fly faster than the Alpha FLight's version of the quinjet in my suit. What do I call you in a fight by the way. I'm certainly not calling you Brooke."
Brooke Harris Brooke tilts her head. "I am Yin. How would you want me to call?" She reaches over for her bag and digs around for her mask, setting it on the table. Full face mask with lenses, matte black with a matte white yang curved teardrop over the right eye, curving down the mask's chin. "And that is what you would see in a fight, if I turned up before we spoke again."
Vindicator     Heather reaches into pocket and tugs out a sandwich baggie, with a small chip inside of it. "Put that in your phone. You'll be able to contact us directly if you use that. "And I'm VIndicator." She then places her cup down and smiles as she starts to leave. "Yin will likely end up being your codename for us to use. I'll see you soon, Brooke."
Brooke Harris Brooke inclines her head. "I will be in touch soon, Heather. It's a pleasure to meet you." She watches you exit, smiling peacefully.
