Jessie Jessie opens the door to let Beth in. She's wearing the usual jeans and t-shirt, but the t-shirt says 'Linear Reality is too a Lifestyle' and looks so new the fabric appears stiff. There are a pair of flip flops next to the door and she is barefoot. "Welcome to the humble abode. Sort of."
Elizabeth Greene As the door opens, Beth is standing just to the left side of the doorframe. Once she sees Jessie, she smiles and centers herelf more properly. She is dressed similarly to the other woman, in jeans and t-shirt. Hers is solid black. She has a hoodie over the top, unzipped.

"Heya, glad I found it. I managed to not get lost once. I'm pretty proud of that," she admits with a smile. At the invitation, she steps over the threshold and glances around at the room as she enters. "I appreciate you offering to help me out with the living arrangements. I could afford Bludhaven but the Big Apple is insane for rent."
Jessie Jessie snickers. "Tell me about it. Right now most of my pay goes to rent and utilities. If things work out, it'll be nice to have some fun money. If they call it that any more." She closes the door and locks it. Turning around, she walks over towards the kitchen, such as it is. "Want something to drink?" she asks, doing a weird hop/skip to get to the fridge. "I just washed the floor in Borax. Does wonders on the bugs." she opens the door and leans in. "Bottle water, pepsi, that weird Cel-ray soda, milk... and the fixings for a chocolate malt if you don't mind waiting."
Elizabeth Greene Beth was in the process of walking toward the windows to the outside world, simply checking out the view. And access points should someone want to break into the home. But at the word chocolate and malt, she turns around on her heel and heads for the kitch.

"You almost had me at Pepsi but then you had to go to the chocolate thing. I haven't had one of those in...well, forever," she admits. "I think I was a kid the last time I had one. I can help make them if you like?"
Jessie Jessie is pulling the stuff out of the fridge and setting it on the counter. "I only allow myself one item of chocolate each time I go shopping. Last time I went, it was those gourmet chocolate chip cookies at the bakery. I put them in the freezer and made them last about 2 weeks." She opens the freezer and pulls out the rest of the fixings. "Heavy duty blender down here..." she mutters, openingone of the lower cabinets that is surprisingly clean and even freshly lined. The base weighs a ton. I think they added some of that nickel iron to the bottom to keep it steady. Or lead. Whatever they use these days." She sets it on the counter with a semi soft 'clunk', nudging some of the ingredients back. "How long do you think you'll be doing this exchange thing?"
Elizabeth Greene "They said it would be six months with the option to extend to a year," Beth says as she leans back against a counter, watching as Jessie works She makes mental notes where things are. "We have a couple of officers that have done it before and they ended up being over a year. They signed on for six months, were asked to extend. Said okay. Six months later, rinse and repeat. So I figure that's likely to happen to me as well."
She glances around the kitchen. Comfy and functional. A glance to see if the stove is gas or electric. Then back to Jessie. "I tend to spend a lot of time in the gym or dojo so I limit my chocolate intake as well, generally speaking. Cause then I have to go work it off."
Jessie Jessie chuckles. "I know that feeling, though I tend to walk mine off. To and from work." She starts the blender with the first malt and ignores the racket it makes. "On days the weather is just too nasty, it's the bus or subway. I'm debating one of those segway gadgets but they're heavy and I have no idea if they'll let me take it into the building with me." She turns the blender off. "I don't want the heat of the motor melting this stuff. It's best when it's thick." and she pulls open a drawer for a spatula and scrapes all the gooey chocolaty goodnes into a tall tumbler. She pulls open another drawer and pulls out a spoon. "Here you go." She clunks the glass part of the blender back onto the base and locks it. "So maybe a year, maybe more. Got it. So far it's been fairly quiet here. Mostly. Friday nights are iffy."
Elizabeth Greene "I was looking around on the way in. Subway then walked," Beth adds to explain how she got there. She does have her own transportation but didn't opt to bring it this trip. Not until she had an idea of the parking and neighborhood. "Seems a family sort of place for the most part. A few troublemakers out there but nothing major from the look of it."
She accepts the malt and scoops up some of the gooey wonderfulness. "Oh my God, so good," she mutters around the mouthful, which is pretty rude but sometimes things have to be said immediately. She does swallow before continuing though. "Thank you. And why are Fridays iffy? Walls kinda thin around here?"
Jessie Jessie smirks. "I think they are everywhere, but these older buildings are better than the new ones. Once in a while I might hear the thumping base from a sound system or surround sound. Makes things interesting. I have yet to hear any arguments or yelling out in the hallways." She gets everything into the blender again and turns it on.

She turns from the counter to face Beth. "I think that's what has me wierded out. It is a family sort of place and all but sometimes it just seems *too* quiet." Her expression is mildly troubled and it's not a full blown worry yet. Just something she has noticed. The neighborhood I lived in over on Long Island was louder than this and it was considered quiet."
Elizabeth Greene That brings Beth to full attention. Not physically. She's staying there leaned comfortably against the counter for now, until they opt to go sit down. Mentally, all her warning bells start to tinkle softly. No glaring claxon yet. "Too quiet...how? The area of Bludhaven I grew up in and lived in after growing up, they were always noisy. All neighborhoods have some sort of trouble, even if it's just bored teenagers vandalizing stuff for fun."
Jessie Jessie turns the blender off and uses the spatula to scrape the stuff into another tumbler. Grabbing another spoon, she points to a futon that has seen better days. It is set up in 'sofa' mode and has a new cover on it. "Hauled that up here a couple days ago from another unit here in the building. Cost me $10. The cover cost more." she snickered.

Sitting down at one end of it, she pauses to gather her thoughts. "Sometimes it's almost normal. Kids playing down by the basketball court, if you can call it that, and machine clunks and engines revving... the usual Saturday type sounds. Then there are weekends where I don't hear any music or anything. No kids playing. Other than the usual traffic it is very quiet. It's happened twice in the four months I've lived here and the second time I started paying attention. Some weekdays are quieter too. I have no idea why." and she finally scoops up a mouthful of chocolate heaven. "mmmmmmmm"
Elizabeth Greene As she explains, Beth follows and takes a seat on the opposite end of the futon. She listens as she enjoys mouthfuls of the chocolate malt then finishes off a spooful before speaking again. "I'll have to ask the guys down at the precinct. See if they have any idea what's going on. Maybe it's nothing but I don't believe in coincidences."

She glances around, trying to figure out the layout but not trekking off yet. No way she is wasting malt and she's not sure about carrying it through the house until she knows Jessie better.
Jessie Jessie is eating her malt slowly. Almost savoring it. "I'd appreciate it. I have a hard time telling if someone is strange to the neighborhood. They're all strangers to me." and there's a wry smile on her face before she scoops up another mouthful.

Noticing Beth's glance around, she adds "Two bedrooms and bath down that hall. Bathroom is the first room actually, which I found weird for an older building. You'll see which one is my room. The messy one." and her smile is impish now as she turns her full attention to the malt again.
Elizabeth Greene "We'll get along fine then," Beth admits with a soft laugh. "I like certain things to always be in their spots, but otherwise? It ends up where it lands So my room will likely match yours in a short amount of time. One bathroom? Can live with that. I'm not one to spend hours doing makeup and hair as you can tell." No makeup and her hair is in a ponytail. "Unless I have a date. Then all bets are off and you may be locked out for hours. Course, I don't really date much since I'm always on call. I'll do my best to be quiet if I get called out in the middle of the night."
Jessie Jessie nods. "No worries there. And I'll actually look for a better sofa for in here. I got this just before I ran into you again. After the riots which I avoided and pretty much stayed home. Feel free to wander. No rules about where food is if you want to eat in your room. As long as any remnants are in the trash. Nuff said for now I think." She is scraping her spoon on the bottom of the glass. "Darn it."
