Erika Kristasdottir Today is hot, and muggy. Or rather, it WAS hot and muggy. Now, it is warm and pouring down rain.

Erika Kristasdottir is running. She's wearing jogging pants, running shoes, and a long sleeved shirt, and she has on a pair of black mesh-backed gloves. She's panting a lot and looks tired, having gone on a jog of unknown length before coming back this way, and now she's soaking wet. Sigh. She gets some water, drops a plastic straw in it, and sucks some of it down, running in place.
Kaydin     A blur blasts past the girl, lightning seen faintly in the blur as it speeds on by. It then blasts back out and soon begins circling the girl at top speeds. A massive vortex forms and soon the blur stops to open an umbrella for Erika. "Heyas. I am Kaydin. You must be the new girl. " he says with a grin.
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir looks up, a bit nonplussed not because it's not cool so much as because she's tired. Ugh. "Uhm... Yeah. I'm Erika."

She catches a few breaths. "And who are you?" She puts her hands on her knees and tries to catch a breather.
Kaydin     "Names Kaydin I am one of the fastest people alive." He says with a grin. He looks to the woman and watches her. "So where you from? I am from a reservation off by Seattle." He says as he gestures with his hands as if to point out where.
Tyler Grant Erika and Kaydin aren't the only people outside today. Tyler's out and about as well, getting his own workout in. He's dressed in a black muscle shirt, blue kickboxing shorts and running shoes. Currently, he's drenched, but looking pretty happy. Having been on a run himself he took off on the last segment to try to sprint out his remaining energy. Now, he's run around the building at a slow jog to start the cool down process, trying to get his breathing back under control.

The young man sees Erika and Kaydin talking and notices that Erika's stopped moving. Running slowly over to the pair he says to Erika, still breathing heavily himself, "Keep moving while you catch your breath. Keep your muscles warm until it's time to stretch." Then he upnods to Kaydin, "Hey man. How are you doing?"
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir ohs... She takes a deep breath and a long sip of water. "Sunnydale, mostly." She sighs. "He was.." She makes some circles with her finger, then slumps a little. "I know, I know."

She runs slowly in place, getting drenched. "Can I at least get under the tree and stretch out a little?"
Tyler Grant "Sorry to be a dick, I just want to make sure you stay healthy," Tyler tells his friend, joining her in running in place. He nods his head towards the tree, "Yeah, let's do a stretching cool down, then we can try something else." Leading the way he starts rocking his head from side to side, looking at the tree itself as he approaches it. "I was watching some videos on bone strengthening earlier today, trying to figure out some good exercises for us to work on since we haven't got a heavy bag here." When they get to the tree Tyler pats it, turns his body into a fighting stance, and brings up his opposite hand, "A lot of kung fu practitioners practice by striking trees. The way to do it is to find a smooth spot on a relatively large tree that you're not going to hurt." After finding the right spot on the tree he slowly punches, turning his body into it, and hits with just enough force to make a little noise, "Turn from your spine and hips, punch just hard enough to make an impact, hold your connection to the tree for a moment after you hit."
Kaydin     Kaydin circles the tree and he moves back to the two. "I discovered that if I move fast enough I can build up enough strength to hit harder then normal. " He says as he watches the two and he looks to Tyler. "Name is Kaydin. Seen you about the school, you are one of them new mutants."
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir nods and sits down to start stretching out, listening. "Seriously? There's got to be a bag here somewhere." She pulls on her toes a bit.

She mmms. "So now I am punching trees? Okay. You are going to need to show me how not to bang my hands up doing that."

She frowns at Kaydin, "I can hit hard enough to break my hands, so I have to fix that first."
Tyler Grant "Yeah man, I'm Tyler," the one kid says to the other with a smile, eyes going wide when he sees how fast he moves. "Be careful with how you hit. We're conditioning ourselves to make sure that our fists can take the impact of striking people repeatedly. I'm pretty good at it, knocked a couple of guys out the other day, but there's always room for improvement."

Then he looks at Erika and nods, "Apparently creating vibration in the bones helps to strengthen them so when you hit, even if you're not hitting very hard, you can make your bones tougher. If we can't find a bag then we're going to start doing this every other day. Lots of reps, not hitting hard."

Tyler begins to demonstrate, "Using the knuckles of your pointer and middle fingers first, you're going to strike slowly and surely, turning through your body until you impact." He does just that, taking his time to show how his body moves. He punches the tree again, holding his fist against it for less than a second, then returns to his fighting stance. "About five sets of twenty reps with the first two knuckle, then the bottom two knuckles, alternating hands between sets."

He leaves the tree and joins Erika on the ground to stretch out, "But we can start that tomorrow. I don't know how much energy it's going to take and I don't want either of us getting sloppy after our run and hurting ourselves."

With a nod to Kaydin he says, "You're welcome to join our stretches if you want. I don't know what kind of physiology you've got but it's pretty good to limber up after a run."
Kaydin     Kaydin watches the two of them and he nods. "My older brother is a cop and he taught me and my sister how to defend ourselves. Atleast basic self defense. Which was basically hit them where it will hurt and get help. This school taught me more." He says as he watches the two.
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir spreads out and leans forward. "I'm not as worried about learning things as I am about toughening up to be able to do them. I'm not going to be dodging bullets or anything like that." She twists and changes stretches. "How far did we go today? I didn't check."
Tyler Grant "I'm always down to help people here get better at defending themselves," Tyler tells Kaydin as he leans into a stretch, exhaling as he does so to push himself. Based on how far down he goes he's quite flexible. "If you want to learn some Brazilian jiu jitsu or kickboxing let me know. I like those systems because you can practice at almost full speed relatively safely if you've got the right gear on." He gestures between himself and Erika, "Like she said, the big thing we're focusing on is conditioning our muscles and bones to be able to take punishment."

Looking at Erika Tyler puts his lips together and makes a 'hmm' noise. "Guessing we did three miles today. You did really well." There's a big grin as he changes stretches, "It's nice having a workout partner where I live, let me tell you. All my brother wanted to do to help me exercise was shoot at me with a paintball gun and make me dodge." His head tilts to the side, "Honestly, that is a great workout."
Kaydin     "I am actually fast enough to catch bullets. Got a collection of bullets I have caught back in my room. If you want an example of my powers, I can give them briefly to people if I huddle close and touch them." He says as he watches the man and nods and smiles at him. "So how long have you been fighting?"
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir starts working on a slow leg stretch on the tree, working on it slowly. She listens to the boys discussing topics on which she can't contribute so much to, nodding. "Well, just let me know what the plan is tomorrow?"
Tyler Grant "Damn! You can catch bullets? That's friggin' wicked!" Tyler sounds very impressed. "Hell yeah I want to check out your powers. Not right now, though, I've done enough running for today." The question causes Tyler to think for a few seconds, "Probably like four years. Started off with BJJ and then moved into kickboxing. My gym offers both and they're a good combination for aspiring mixed martial artists. I'd really like to learn Muay Thai. And Eskrima. And kenjutsu, too. I need to get myself a sword and a bunch of knives. My little lead ingots aren't really cutting it, especially fighting cyborgs."

Turning his head to face Erika Tyler grins at her, "Okay. I will. I've got plans for tree punching, Tyler punching, rope jumping and even more flexibility training."
Kaydin     Kaydin nods as he smiles, pulling out a granola bar from a pocket and begins to munch on the granola bar. "The downsides is I am constantly hungry. but the benefits includes enhanced metabolism and speed." He says as he begins to stretch with the rest of them. He then looks to Erika. "Why you wearing gloves. Arent they hot?"
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir switches legs and leans into the stretch. "Oh, yeah, they're hot as hell and my hands are always sweaty, but I never know when I might touch something. It saves me from having incidents if somebody brushes against me or something."

She bites her lip a bit. "It's just kind of a headache. You two sound like you'll get along awesome."
Tyler Grant "I'm pretty much always hungry, too. If I borrowed your powers then between the two of us we could empty the kitchen," Tyler chuckles as he twists his body into his next stretch. He watches Erika doing her cool downs, nodding as if in approval, and then says to her, "Yeah. We already got a bunch in common and more friends are always good." Another glance to Kaydin, "We'll need to hang out some time. What kind of stuff do you do when you're not at school? Mostly, I fight, ride my motorcycle and get into trouble."
Kaydin     "I am a street artist mainly. I do murals for heroes and villains. I am under orders by professor Grey to not do it anymore, but I still do it sometimes if I can avoid getting caught." He says as he watches the two of them. He nods to Erika and smiles. "You ever need help, just ask." He says as he turns to Tyler. "So why be a new mutant. Do you hope to become something more?"
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir starts doing some careful dynamic kicking stretches, leaning on the tree, twenty gentle stretch kicks on each leg in different directions, turning a bit to not flash the boys. She listens for now.
Tyler Grant When Kaydin says what he does as hobby Tyler grins at him, "That's pretty cool! Avoiding getting caught by Ms Grey is pretty tricky, though. I've been trying to keep out of trouble ever since I got busted for violating that probation thing we had going on." When asked about the New Mutant thing he pauses to think, "I want to help people. I'm honestly still not a hundred percent on what being a New Mutant means, but if it puts me in a position to make things better for people then that's awesome." As Erika starts stretching on a tree Tyler quietly observes for a moment to make sure she's doing it correctly, then tells Kaydin, "You ever shot a paintball gun? Regular people shooting at me's getting easy, I need more of a challenge."
Kaydin     Kaydin nods as he watches the two of them. "I was originally a part of a group called FaXion. Which was scott summers personal students trained to become heroes. Sorta like the new mutants only with professor summers as our main support instead of Miss Frost. Anyway I guess I am all thats left of it so may become a new mutant."
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir nods. "Nobody thinks I am ready to do much of anything yet. I mean yeah, I don't really know WHAT I would be doing, but still. I feel like I am just sitting on my hands sometimes." She frowns and starts stretching her wrists and rolling her ankles softly. "Everybody else has all the cool abilities and they end up fighting crazy stuff. All I did was get my friend in trouble. I mean yeah, he totally had it coming, but still."
Tyler Grant "Nice. Well, hopefully we'll be welcoming you to the team soon," Tyler tells Kaydin, smiling at him as he gets to his feet so he can do some standing stretches. "We'll have to see whether you're faster or Tommy. Speedsters are pretty cool."

His attention turns to Erika. "We'll get you there someday. I priced out those wrist bands, they're like eighty bucks for two hundred of them, so they're pretty cheap." Then he lifts his chin at her, "Who got in trouble?"
Kaydin     Kaydin goes to speak when his phone lets out a ringtone. It is the cops theme from the show Cops. He groans. "Thats my brother. I need to take this. It was nice meeting you two." He says with a smile.
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir nods, "Awesome. Oh, like.. just how all I have pulled off so far is to bust Mason. I just feel like I'm not accomplishing a whole lot yet. I don't know what I can really do here yet, and I need to figure out how to get that sorted out more."
Tyler Grant "Later!" Tyler tells Kaydin, waving from his bent over stretching position. "Hit me up if you want to do something some time." He straightens out and moves into a bent leg body twist, "Oh yeah. You did totally figure that one out." The young man looks off to the side as he holds his body in place, "I'm not going to tell you to be patient, that you're just a kid, any of that crap. The stuff we're doing together is a great start, but we need to come up with a list of skills that might valuable in an emergency and figure out how to get those skills. I'm thinking emergency medicine is going to be a big one. Combat, of course. Parkour or acrobatics, we can get that from Jubilee probably. Driving and piloting, like combat type stuff. What else you got?"
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir nods, "Sounds good. I probably need some sneaky and maybe some legal stuff too. Anything else I don't know, I mean, any car was driven by someone, right?"
Tyler Grant "We also need to think of how we can store the wristbands so they can be deployed in a hurry, stay secure and sit where you won't get them confused with each other," Tyler says as he finishes out his latest stretch and rises to his full height, bouncing lightly on the balls of his feet for a couple of seconds. "Probably a belt with a bunch of pouches." Now that he's done his personal cool down he steps out into the rain again and lets it fall on him, turning his face up towards the heavens to let the water hit it. "Sneaky and legal info are awesome ideas, too. I'd like real military or police type driving for emergencies, though. I mean, I can drive like a bat out of hell but I'm not sure what's me and what's the powers."
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir nods. "Well, I can just wear a selection, I won't get them confused in my head. They look different in there. But yeah, I'm probably going to end up with so many pockets I look like one of my dad's comic book characters. I don't know how many things I am really going to need for most things though. We're pretty much hitting the same kinds of skills." She watches the rain come down from under the tree and moves around a bit, shivering a little soggily.
Tyler Grant "We could call you pockets," Tyler smiles at that, clearly not being serious. "Well, we've got a pretty good idea of what we're going to be looking for for skills. Now we gotta find people with those skills and convince them to wear wristbands while they use them. Maybe Jennifer Walters would wear one so you could learn law knowledge. We'll see if Mr Cassidy can get cops to wear them when they do their driving stuff." It's pretty obvious that he's excited about making some progress. "Anyway, you look like you're getting chilly and we're all done cooling down. Let's hit the showers, we can hang out later if you want to. Maybe check out your home town sometime. You can introduce me to your single girlfriends." The youth laughs, making it hard to tell if he's joking about that subject. "Andrea keeps telling me I should have all kinds of girls interested in me since I'm fit as hell, have nice hair and ride a motorcycle."
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir blinks at that, then nods. "You should! I assume." She tilts her head a little bit, pondering that. "And yeah, I totally need to drop in at home. I mean, I can try introducing you to people.." She bites her lip a little. "I dunno, if I can find them at this point. And they might be a little young for you, anyways... I know I am."
Tyler Grant Tyler continues to let the rain fall on him, not seeming to mind the weather. "You're not too young for me. You're what, fifteen or sixteen, right?" He seems more confused than anything else by her statement. Then that confusion turns to concern, "Wait, are you interested in me?" He blinks into the rain a few times and more or less just starts to stare at Erika. "Oh damn, I should have caught on. I'm so sorry. I just thought we were friends."
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir blinks. "No, I'm fifteen. And I'm not interested. My friends are mostly around my age and a little younger." She frowns awkwardly. "I was worried that *you* were! Oh thank God for that. I need friends right now, not dates." She whews and sighs some.
Tyler Grant There's a sigh of relief, followed quickly by laughter from Tyler, "Erika, you had me worried for a minute. You're cute, but you're right about needing friends. You've got a lot going on in your life right now and it might not be the best idea to get romantically involved." He pauses, "Might not be a good idea for me, either, but I'm kind of hung up on someone and the only advice I've really gotten is to forget about her or find someone else to help me forget about her. I can't forget her and the only girl I've gone out with since meeting her is kind of a ditz." The youth sighs again, "Is it cool if I talk with you about girls sometimes? I don't want to burden you, but it might help to have your perspective on stuff instead of just talking to guys."
Erika Kristasdottir Erika Kristasdottir nods, "Oh! Sure! I mean, you're awesome. I'd love that. I'll totally root for you." She gives a double thumbs up. "I kind of want to get some actually dry clothes that don't smell like sweat here though. Like, next time? You can always track me down. I'm not hard to find."
