Owner Pose
Andrea There's a knocking on the door from outsisde of Mason's dorm room. Andrea is wearing a new sun dress and a pair of black leggings under it with some fresh white sneakers. She has on a hint of makeup, her hair tousled just so. She takes in a deep breath and waits, rocking back and forth on her feet. She glances down at her phone at times, spinning it about in her fingers.
Mason     Mason answers the door fairly promptly. He looks...well, he didn't really dress up much. He is wearing a button down shirt, white and blue, untucked from his cargo shorts, and a pair of sandals on his feet. "Hey," he says. "You ready?" Obviously she is, but he asks anyway. "Feels kinda weird to be going on another first date," he comments.
Andrea "Does it feel weird?" Andrea asks with a grin to him. "It's super casual. Don't even stress out." She says as she slips her hand into his for an encouraging squeeze. "Way less sweaty than kickball. I got us reservations at The View. Window side table so we can see the entire city. I asked for discretion so we won't be bothered too much by fans."
Mason     "The View," he says, a slight smirk in his lip. "That's super casual." He starts down the hallway. "I somehow doubt that there will be a lot of teenagers hanging out there for us to worry about," he says. "Just the cougars and creepy old guys. "Want to take my car?" he asks, assuming it to be a yes. After all, it's a ferrari.
Andrea "The View is casual, and you know how people are in general. Fans. Paparazzi... Reavers." Andrea says as she gives him a grin as she follows after him, giving their hands a bit of a swing. "Sure, we can take your car. If you /need/ to show off and all." She says with a laugh. "So how did you like kickball yesterday? You didn't do terrible. Creative use of the powers there."
Mason     Mason leads to his car. "Hey, it was your idea that I should get a Ferrari in the first place," he says. "I woulda gone with a 'vette." He gets in, and hits the button to start it up. He's not gentlemanly enough to open the door for her, but then, that's a bit more old fashioned than he is. "I dunno, I felt like a goof. Everybody had a lot better idea of what to do there than I did."
Andrea "We were fourteen when I said that! Now that I have /matured/ I would have said go with the Vette'." Andrea says as she rounds the car and climbs into the bucket seat. "We were so dumb when we were making millions at that age. I know two years isn't that long but it's forever in celebrity life." She leans over to play with the radio, because she is annoying like that. "You did fine. Everyone was just playing around and acting like dummies."
Mason     "Yeah, except everybody else has some idea of how to use their powers," he says, "And hey, who said you can mess with the radio?" he asks, pulling out of the drive and down the tree covered street away from Xavier's.
Andrea "Oh, I can't mess with the radio?" There is a teasing tone in Andrea's voice as she taps along the stations. She chooses a old rock station. Journey. She gives him a teasing look on her face. "And you will get the powers part if you go to class and learn and really put in an effort." She says as she buckles in, then leans in to place her head against his shoulder. "You have an awesome power by the way, one that maybe you can use to help the world. Maybe you can use your powers to help plants grow better. Or maybe you can use your powers to shut down volcanos that go crazy, or ... um... heal trees... I don't know... but maybe there is more to it than you know."
Mason     Mason laughs, "Shut down a volcano?" he asks. "That's like Superman level stuff. I can currently use my thumb to sand a rock, and apparently kick a little jut of stone out of the ground. It's not exactly world saving powers you know." He pulls out onto the highway, and then guns the engine.
With a purr, the red sportscar leaps forward, speeding up rapidly. After all, what's the point of a sports car if you don't use it? "I think I'll leave the world saving to people who like doing that sort of stuff, and I'll stick to my world saving in video games where you can respawn if you screw up."
Andrea "Your powers are new because you are not trained, but if you push yourself, you can probably do amazing things. You need to believe in yourself. Look at your gift from a new perspective." Andrea assures him with a soft breath. "I'm not saying throw spandex on and go fight bad guys. You can use your gifts to help the world through subtle ways. Rebuild parks, trees, climate change. You can probably do that stuff you know. But powers are like any other muscle in your body. You just need to practice." She curls her arms about one of his as she keeps her head on his shoulder. "Will you practice with me at least?"
Mason     The speedometer reeds 110 now as he continues to hold down the gas. Mason shrugs with his free shoulder, changing lanes and zipping past a minivan as if they were standing still. "I will practice. But only at the mansion. I'm not gonna go screw around with my powers outside of there. We already have seen what can happen," he says, shifting lanes again to pass another car on the right.
Andrea "Mason, slow down." Andrea warns him with a furrow of her brow. "Come on, we're going way too fast and this is kinda reckless." She says as she gives him a tug on the sleeve. "Also don't want to end up on TMZ by getting pulled over with two of us in the car. Or have the cops freak out because we're both mutants." She leans forward, shifting some in the seat as she looks uncomfortable.
Mason     "Cops work for TMZ now?" he asks. "Come on, it's not like they would know we are mutants." He considers, "Well, they wouldn't not I'm a mutant," he corrects himself. Still, he lets off the gas a little, backing down to 85. Still quite a bit over the speed limit. "Besides, it's fun to drive fast. The car is built for this kind of thing."
Andrea "The roads and the speed limit is not built for this kinda thing. Just, slow down, please?" Andrea says with a sigh. "And if you get pulled over, you know it will take like two minutes for vultures to be here, shooting up pics and selling to TMZ. It's how it works." She pokes him in the side. "But the speed is scaring me a bit."
Mason     "You think that they all have telepath powers or something," Mason teases. "You just gotta know how they think. They only have sources they are given. Flash a cop and he'll keep your secret." He winks, obviously kidding. He lets off the gas a little more, just as a parked silver and blue car is passed on the side of the road. He's still a good fifteen over the posted limit, and he quickly checks over his shoulder. "Oh shit," he grunts, looking back. "Was that a cop?" The answer? Yeah, it certainly was.
Andrea Glancing over her shoulder, Andrea's eyes widen. "Yeah. That was a cop. I don't think he is moving yet. You know you go to jail automatically if you are going over a hundred right? You also lose your license. Maybe he won't chase.. just ease off and coast. Don't tap the brakes or else you will look guilty." Sometimes it helps having a mother in the military who has a brother that is a cop.
Mason     "Yeah," Mason says, glancing over his shoulder again. The car is starting to pull out of his position. "I think he's on us," he says. "Gotta get off this highway fast." He speeds up, back to 90 as they start to round a turn, staying slightly out of sight. A sign comes up for a junction ahead.
"There," Mason says, "We'll turn down that road there. Keep an eye behind me ant let me know if he comes in view again." Both hands firmly on the wheel now, Mason seems...almost to be having fun.
Andrea "Mason! You can't outrun their radios and the fact they probably got us on camera." Andrea says with a growl in her throat. "You are gonna get us both arrested and Jean will kill us!" She glances over her shoulder, staring at the road with wide eyes. "My mom will kill you also by the way. She still isn't a big fan."
Mason     "You should listen to her," Mason says, hitting the breaks and then powering through the turn onto the smaller road just as the silver car clears view. The lights hit on, and then it disappears through the thick of trees.
"Was that lights?" he asks, gunning it hard enough to create a little G-force toward the back of the seat. "As long as they can't see us, they can't pull us over," he argues. "I've done this a million times. It'll work!"
Andrea "Mason, this is how you end up on the news and people ripping on you for bad choices. Your car is already a cop magnet and going over a hundred in it is stupid." Andrea says as she hunkers down in the seat. "I just wanted to go on a nice date and get dinner with you." She sighs softly with frustration in her voice. She looks sad as she stares out the window.
Mason     Mason hits the brakes again, then turns down a smaller road, then into a parking lot, and quickly stops the car behind a little church. He glances back, waiting. "I think we did it," he laughs, "See! I told you it'd be fine!" He glances back, only at this point noticing that she's not having as much fun. "What?"
Andrea Staring out the window, Andrea just lets out a sigh. "Let's just go to the resturant before they give away our reservations." She finally says, then wipes at her face with a brush of her hand. As she sighs, her breath fogs the window for a brief moment.
Mason     Mason is quiet for several seconds, then puts the car back into gear. "I just wanted to have a little fun," he comments quietly after pulling back onto the road. "And not get a ticket."
Andrea "I would rather get a ticket instead of go to jail or cause an accident." Andrea says as she tightens the belt. After a few minutes of silence, she leans back into his shoulder again. "I want to have fun too, just not the kind to put us in danger. The last few weeks has me on edge."
Mason     "We got shot at by cyborgs, and you're worried about a car accident?" Mason asks, shaking his head. "I don't get you," he admits, pulling back onto the highway, returning to more responsible speed.
Andrea "Yeah, because we aren't the only people involved in an accident, Mason. I'm worried about the others that may get hurt because of it." Andrea says with a sigh as she rubs her cheek against his arm before she straightens up. "Are you mad at me?"
Mason     "No," Mason answers, "I just...I don't know what to think about you. You want me, but then you don't like what I do, you say you believe in me, but if I do something that I like, you make me out to be irresponsible. I mean, we're sixteen, we're supposed to be irresponsible, y'know?"
Andrea "No, I don't know .." Andrea sighs under her breath. "We are not normal sixteen year olds, Mason. We're world famous celebrities and global icons to millions of people. We can't just go speeding about in your Ferrari recklessly. We are role models even if it's not what we signed up for. If you want to be irresponsible, fine, but we can do so in private, instead of on the world's stage where people can see us. We have contracts to abide by. Fans. Sponsors. Deals. That can all go away if we screw up. Also think of Xaviers'." She reaches out to slide a hand over his, squeezing.
Mason     "I dunno, Kurt Cobain screwed lots of stuff up, and he stayed famous. Any one of the Kardashians, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus." He shrugs. "None of them worried about being good role models." Mason continues down the road. "I just wanna have a little fun before I'm too old."
Andrea "Yeah, and they were all ridiculed on the Internet for years because the Internet doesn't forget." Andrea says to him. "You can have /fun/. Just not illegal fun that will get you in trouble." She presses her lips together in thought. "How 'bout we meet in the middle on this?"
Mason     "Meet in the middle?" Mason laughs, "Like what, only speed on Thursdays or something?" He takes the exit on the way into the city. "I thought for sure you'd point out that Kurt Cobain died of a drug overdose."
Andrea "Kurt Cobain blew his head off with a shot gun." Andrea says as she stares at him with a lift of her brow.
Mason     "That too," Mason agrees, rather than debate the issue. "Anyway, what do you mean meet in the middle?"
Andrea "I can try and be more open minded about things you want to do that are fun, as long as they aren't too over the top and illegal that would land us in jail, and or in a situation that would cause us public embarrassment." Andrea says as she offers him a grin.
Mason     "Okay, well, we can give it a shot," he says. "I've been wanting to try skydiving." He arches his brow, glancing over to her. "For now, I guess we have a tasty dinner to eat."
Andrea "We can try skydiving." Andrea says as she gives him a grin. "I'd also like to hit up Great America and try the updated roller coasters. I'm not afraid of heights." With that, she leans back as she happily waits for him to escort the pair to The View so they can have a nice night of watching the city from above.
