Owner Pose
Colossus One of the big lawnmowers is out in the grass near the center of the yard, under the beating heat of the day. Piotr has a toolbox next to him that he recently brought outside, the motor of the machine exposed. Piotr still makes the machine look toy-like, at his size. He's dressed simply: jeans, t-shirt, work gloves, and a sweat-gathering rag loosely draped over massive neck. He pokes around with it, frowning.
Andrea Heading out into the backyard with a soccer ball is Andrea. She is dressed in a pair of snug workout shorts and a simple loose t-shirt with a spandex sports bra beneath it. Her sneakers tap the ball back and forth as she moves forward along the grass. Catching sight of the large man, she taps the ball over his way as she follows after it. "What's wrong with it?"
Colossus "I am uncertain," Piotr says, his thick russian accent apparent. "I did what I expected would fix it, but it has not worked." Piotr rests a hand on the machine and turns more properly to give Andrea a relaxed smile. "I do not believe we have met. I am Piotr Rasputin, art teacher," he introduces. He draws the cloth from his neck to carefully wipe broad hand off, before offering it.
Andrea Reaching out to take his hand for a shake, the girl says, "Andrea Jackson. Sophomore. I'm on the New Mutants team being trained under Mister Summers." The global popstar kneels down next to the machine to take a look at it. "So what is it currently not doing? Just not turning on in general? You check the spark plug?"
Colossus Piotr nods simply at the report that she is a New Mutant. If he does or doesn't know about the team, he doesn't say anything either way. "It overheated. I was checking the plugs and carburetor. I think I will take it back to the shed; it is very warm out here."
Andrea "Yeah, it's pretty hot." Andrea says as he looks at the engine with a thoughtful noise in her throat. "So, does it at least get power or is it just a dead duck?" She pushes up to her full height and pops the ball from the ground to her hands with a quick toe kick to catch it.
Colossus "It got all the way to here." He opens a hand and gestures in a sweeping motion what the mower did in the path. It was active for some time. "I suspect it is not cooling itself. But this is not my area. I would need to use the google." He looks at the ball, watching her with it, thoughtful. "Were you playing a game?"
Andrea "Just working out. I like to do sprints with a soccer ball. Makes it a bit more fun than just a normal job. Did steam come out of it when it went down, or did it just sputter out? You aren't overlooking something easy like gas or oil?" Andrea asks as she drops the ball to her knees, juggling it back and forth between her left and right.
Colossus "Ah, that I can see. More coordination," Piotr nods serenely at the soccer ball. "I did not see steam. Oil, perhaps, it could be. I did refill gas." The big man is thoughtful and appreciative of her thoughts. "Please step back, I do not wish to accidentally hit you with it as I move it."
Andrea "Not my first rodeo with a lawn mower." Andrea chuckles as she takes a few steps back, letting the ball continue to bob about her knees, chest and feet as she juggles. "So, you are from Russia?"
Colossus Piotr laughs, a deep, low sound from his baritone. "Nor mine. Yes. I grew up on a farm in Siberia." He turns towards the mower and abruptly changes colors; his skin instantly hardens into the gleaming metallic form: arms, head, all skin changes. He picks up the tractor like one would an awkward, large cardboard box. He shifts his grip on it as he raises it, a little toss to get under the axels better, and begins to walk towards the shed, without explanation. "Would you be kind to bring the tool box, please?"
Andrea ".. Woah." Andrea breathes out as she watches him shift into his new skin. Her eyes widen, then leans down to pluck up the tool box from the ground and follows after him. "You have a cool power." As she follows, she asks, "So what is Siberia like? I've only been to Moscow once for a tour."
Colossus "It varies by area. Like many places. It is a big place. My farm was peaceful. Though there was much hard work to be done, it was not so much pressure. So much media. It was simple. Which is both good, and bad. It is not for everyone." Piotr takes her in, though his metallic eyes show little expression as he carries it and they walk. "Much as a power. It can have the good, and the bad."
Andrea "I hear you on that. The good and the bad. You know I'm a world famous celebrity, right?" Andrea asks curiously as she catches the ball again in her hands as she follows after him. "It's pretty awesome having a huge influence in the world and that people love my music. It's not so awesome when people make death threats and call you all sorts of name online because you're a mutant."
Colossus "I did not know. I do not know of many celebrity, except for several superhero," Piotr's steady tone answers. It isn't judgmental. It just is. Piotr doesn't have interest in such things. "What sort of music do you create? Do you sing? That is wonderful. I enjoy to sing, but not in front of large groups. That is quite brave."
Andrea "I was an actress on Disney first when I was younger, then I ended up putting out an album and it went multi-platinum. My next album comes out this weekend actually and my new single has already took off on the charts. It's pop music. Mostly high energy." Andrea says with a grin. "You didn't know who I was? I came out as a mutant earlier in the year. Made world wide headlines. I've had my concert attacked a few times?" She giggles softly. "I wish I could live off the social media grid. Would make my life a lot easier. I'd love to hear you sing sometime if you want."
Colossus "Ah. I know a mutant that is singer, Alison Blaire. But you are not Alison. Headlines? Mutant attacks, yes. I did not connect to you," Piotr says, shaking his head. He can't keep track of those things. "I do not listen much pop music. I am sure you are excellent, however," he says kindly. "And humble," he lightly adds, a gentle tease. She did just brag.

"I do not think my song is up to your standard." He's smiling, though. They've made it to the shed, and he gently places the mower down, with a very aware careful quality, despite size and strength. A gentle giant.
Andrea "Alison Blaire is my /idol/. I'm in love with her, like, totally." Andrea says with a grin. "She's the reason why I came out to the world as a mutant. She was such a big inspiration on my life." She is gushing now, her eyes alive as she speaks about her. "And when her record label kicked her off for being a mutant, it's why I came out. I wanted to show my support and become an icon for young mutants who don't have the ability or the courage to come out themselves. I believe that young mutants need role models, which is also why I set up my charity called the Starlight Foundation. It's a suicide and mental health hotline where mutants can call in and request help for free. Whether it's security or therapy or just a friend." She taps the ball about with her feet again as she drops it down.

"And you may be surprised about the song. I love rock, country, opera, classical, jazz. I love all music. You kinda have to as an artist."
Colossus Piotr listens to her explanation of what she is doing and her idol with his quiet way. He is a good listener, stoic. The metal melts away, back into skin, as he moves to take the tool box and set it back on a shelf. "I do not think it is a requirement that you like or love all music or art. It IS, perhaps, requirement that you learn from it or respect what it has given to the form," Piotr chuckles and shakes his head. "I may say I dislike Picasso or his work, because he believed women are machines for suffering, but I can take in cubism and the new thought it carries to art as whole."

Piotr adjusts topics, though. "It is very rough to be public known mutant. I am glad you are here, to learn at this safe place. It is my great wish to help students here."
Andrea "Well, I'm just not a hater when it comes to tunes I guess. I can appreciate the walks of life music comes from." Andrea smiles as she leans over the lawnmower and pops the oil cap off, then slides out the gauge to take a look at the stick to see how wet it is. "But yeah, it's rough being a public mutant, but I sleep good at night. Being attacked though isn't very fun."
Colossus "No. It is not." He does know from personal experience. Piotr's face clouds, and he shakes his head. The attack comment clearly bothered him. He starts to open the side of the machine, looking at the engine, but his phone makes a sound. He withdraws it from his pocket. "I am needed elsewhere. The lawn must wait."
Andrea "Oh. Okay. It was really nice meeting you, Peter." Andrea says as she heads over to grab a bottle of oil. Uncapping it, she pours it into the lawmower, then replaces the cap. "I hope we can bump into each other soon! Maybe I will sign up for your art class. I like to sketch but it's just halfway decent scribbles at this point."
Colossus "If you wish to work on the lawnmower, feel welcome," Piotr offers, watching her with the oil and a smile. "Come to the sculpture class." The smile remains. "It is more than what you make." With that, he nods, and heads out of the shed.
