Cindy Larsen     It's roughly mid-afternoon and Cindy has finished her classes for the day, so she had slipped into the rec room to take some time for herself. There were other students milling about, of course, doing their own thing, but as usual the young leopard-girl kept to herself. She grabbed a soda from the fridge on her way in, and took her books with her to one of the out-of-the-way beanbag chairs. She settles into it, sitting cross-legged lotus-style, and pulls one of her books into her lap to get a headstart on her homework. Even while she concentrates on that, however, Cindy can't help but glance around now and then, appearing fairly nervous in such a public place. Even though, in her short time at Xavier's, everyone had been pretty friendly to her, she still felt... different, considering how outwardly normal most of her fellow students look.
Andrea Heading into the rec room is Andrea Jackson. As she enters, a few of the students brighten up and wave to her, calling out her name in which she waves back with a smile. As usual, she is radiating a calm happiness about her, dressed in a pair of black jeggings and a sun dress. She only has a tiny hint of makeup on, just enough to give her a bit of a glow. She takes a seat on a couch and slips her phone out, launching a couple of apps with a few taps and starts to scan through the data.
Cindy Larsen     There's a lot of students at the school, and seeing as she isn't one of the more outgoing people around, Cindy hasn't met everyone. She's barely met anyone, in fact. So it's no surprise that when Cindy hears people calling over to Andrea she looks up, sees the girl in question, and then just kind of freezes. Andrea would probably recognize that particular stunned, wide-eyed stare of a girl who's a fan but doesn't quite know how to process the fact that they're in the same room together. So, for a few moments, Cindy just... awkwardly stares at Andrea, seated not far from her.
Andrea It seems that Andrea is used to that type of attention. She still gets it time to time here even at the school. As she taps away at her phone, she finally glances up at the weight of Cindy's eyes upon her. She looks over at her and offers a grin. "Hey." She calls over to her with a tilt of her head upwards. "Everything okay?"
Cindy Larsen     Cindy sucks in a gasp of breath when Andrea looks over her way, making eye contact for a moment before she looks back to her books. The insides of her ears redden, and they fold back in an attempt to hide the evidence of her blushing. She clears her throat when Andrea calls over to her, and glances back to her. "Uh, hey... Y-yeah," she says, "I just... Uh... sorry." She catches her lower lip between her teeth, the act only made cuter by the way one of her larger fangs peeks over her lip. Her tail curls around her, too, and Cindy pulls it into her lap, stroking it distractedly with one hand. She still glances towards Andrea nervously now and then, but tries not to stare like she was a few moments ago.
Andrea Pushing up from the couch, Andrea heads over and then flops down next to her with a heavy thump. She gives her a grin, then bumps her shoulder against hers. She goes back to tapping away on her phone. "Cool. Glad to hear that. Got any plans tonight?" She asks as she glances back over to her, shifting herself to give the cat girl her full attention. "I was thinking of doing a 7-11 run and snagging some snacks and then doing a Netflix thingy tonight. You're more than welcome to kick it if you're bored."
Cindy Larsen     Did Cindy hear that right? Kick it, with Andrea? She clears her throat and chews on her lip a moment, considering the offer. "Uh, y-yeah, that sounds fun," she says, kind of stammering at first. Her heart is racing! "Oh! My, um, my name is Cindy, by the way," she says, "I, uh... I kinda know who you are already." She manages a nervous grin. "I gotta admit I've, um, I've never met anyone famous before. It's... kinda obvious isn't it."
Andrea "Cool beans. Hit me with your digits." Andrea says as she slides her expensive iPhone 25 or whatever that is out these days. It's new. It has a large screen. Probably has AR and VR built into it. She taps along the grass to pull up a new contact. "Do I put in Cindy Catgirl or you got a last name too?" SHe grins at her. "And when I'm at school, I try not to be famous. I'm just like you. Normal."
Cindy Larsen     Cindy rolls her eyes. "Oh yeah, cuz I'm -super- normal," she says. Sarcasm, the one true language of teenagers! "Nice phone though. And yeah, Larsen." Cindy spells it out for her, too, since a lot of people like to mistake it for "Larson" which is not her name. She gives Andrea her number, easily enough. Then she pauses and glances suspiciously at Andrea. "You're not gonna like... Give my number out to people to prank call me or anything, are you? Or like... call me and invite me out to some party in the middle of the woods and then leave me there, right...?" Cindy, apparently, has watched a lot of movies where the popular girls are kind of awful people.
Andrea After putting her number into the phone, Andrea sends her a text with a: 'This is me!' The questions though cause her to blink her eyes. "Wait, what? Why would I do that for? Are you going to post my number on Google and then sell a story to TMZ talking about how I got drunk and hooked up with an overage Jonas Brother?" She asks with a raise of her brow.
Cindy Larsen     Cindy's phone chimes and she pulls it out of the pocket of her hoodie, then grins broadly. "I suppose that'll be the first thing I do if you stand me in the woods," she says, "Sorry, I just... I watch a lot of movies, and it's always the rich popular girl who does something horrible and mean to the girl who isn't very popular. I just... I got kinda paranoid for a second, after I gave you my number."
Andrea Blinking her eyes, Andrea rubs the back of her neck. "... I guess I can see that. I haven't gone to normal school in seven years. I've been home schooled since I was nine after I got my break on Disney. So I've been so busy working and traveling and touring and working out of packets. I didn't know real life was like the movies in that regard." She taps her fingers together a few times. "I just saw you were sitting by yourself and everyone else was cliqued up here. Figured you could use a friend and I'm not scared of making new friends."
Cindy Larsen     Cindy blinks her eyes, herself, looking up from where she was putting Andrea's number into a contact on her own phone. It's a year or two old, and a less expensive model than an iPhone. She's not rich like Andrea! "I guess I hadn't considered that... I don't know, I thought like, maybe you had a normal life alongside being on TV... That's, uh, that's where I recognized you from, by the way." She pauses for a beat, and then glances shyly in Andrea's direction. "I, uh... I think it'd be pretty awesome to have you as a friend though. So... thanks for coming over," Cindy tells her.
Andrea "I have a normal life I guess. I just never went to school. Got to be careful about who you let in as a friend. Kinda run in tight circles out there." Andrea motions outwards with her hand. "Everyone wants something for free and if they don't get it, they rag on you to the media and paint you as this bitch. You remember my song, Sober?" She asks curiously as she tucks her hair behind her ear. "That song was about me becoming famous. Everyone thought I was having a problem and needing to go to rehab, but no one really listens to the lyrics."
Cindy Larsen     Cindy nods her head a little. "Yeah," she says, "I remember that one." She doesn't mention that she actually has all of Andrea's songs on her phone. "Well, um... For what it's worth, I'd rather just have a friend," the leopard-girl says, "I don't really... need anything else from anybody." She gives a small shrug of her shoulders. "You won't have anything like that to worry about from me. I wouldn't even know who to call!" Cindy grins a little bit, the tip of her tail giving a small twitch.
Andrea "Well, in that song, I was talking about an ex best friend of mine, since we were kids. We were insperable for a long time." Andrea says, then starts to sing softly. "Three months.. and I'm still sober... I picked all my weeds but kept the flowers. But I know, it's never really over .. " She trails off softly, glancing up and to the side. "When I got famous, Allison and I still remained friends, until we got a bit older. Then she was calling magazines up, trying to promise she can get exclusive interveiws with me. She started nagging me to buy her stuff when I wasn't even making that kinda money yet. I just had a messy situation with Mason at the time and I was super sensitive, and she was just.. me-me-meing.. all the time." Her foot jabs the ground a few times. "So I had to pick a weed. The song is not about me being sober for three months. It was three months since I had to let her go, and how I still felt that anguish in my heart, and I know that I will have to pick more as I get older. Mason being another. Even though he's back in my life now.. at the time.."
Cindy Larsen     Cindy listens, head tilted slightly, as Andrea sings a little bit and then explains what the song was about. "I'm sorry to hear that," she says, "It can... be really difficult letting go of friends. After I... changed, the friends I had back home all turned their backs on me. Even my best friend, Lizzie, didn't want to talk to me anymore." She sighs softly, eyes downcast, clearly recollecting the day when she lost her best friend. "It wasn't easy, and it still hurts. So... I guess I understand. Being famous probably wasn't any easier than just being different from everyone else."
Andrea "Being famous is just something that comes along with the job. I didn't go into acting to be famous. I did it because I love acting, and creating these imaginary characters and worlds. But being famous can be a struggle. It's hard living in a fish bowl." Andrea says as she bumps her shoulder, then rises upwards. "But, that is why I go to school here, right? To make awesome new friends who are all stuck in the same boat. I'm gonna head off and give Mason a call and see what he is up to. Let's Netflix tonight?"
Cindy Larsen     "I can only imagine," Cindy says, "I guess it's kind of the same thing, being a mutant and being famous. Everyone knows who or what you are just looking at you, and there's a lot of poeple you just need to... avoid." She shakes her head and sighs, before looking up when Andrea with a grin. "Yeah, text me later tonight. I'm just doing homework for a bit, then I was gonna sneak off to the lake and go for a swim. I'll see you tonight!"
