Ekaterina Vespucci It is night time in Gotham and Ekaterina is doing the tourist thing. She has visited the museum and is now by the park buying a hotdog and grabbing a Coke. The night is mercifully uneventful with none of the more dangerous elements of Gothams nocturnal community being active in this part of town. Perhaps it is only a small reprieve. Kat is dressed in bulky clothing that is too large for her such that her curvy but petite figure is occluded. Her dark hair covered up in a beanie. She is short probably around 5"2 5"1. Her most prominent features are her large cornflower blue eyes and angelic little face. Kat carefully walks around the park eyes alert for any sign of trouble. She'd been almost kidnapped three times in the last 3 weeks. She was hoping bad things only came in 3's.
Dan Richter Sitting on a bench by an occasionaly flickering light just a short ways into the par is a young man in a grey zip up unzipped hoodie, tossing bits of bread to some of Gotham's native freakishly huge rats, who seem quite ok with eating the food this man gives out. If he's noticed Ekaterina, he doesn't show it, just sitting there, tending his ROUSs.
Ekaterina Vespucci Kat is walking along paying attention only to her phone and her food when she comes across the giant vermin. She lets out a giant yelp dropping her coke and her food but luckily not her phone. She dances about scattering the rats - even though some might fancy her dropped food. "W-what are these things?" she asks noone in particular.
Dan Richter "Those are rats....This is Gotham afterall. Cant walk a full street without spooking a pack of em." Says the man on the bench as the rats dart under it to hide. The man looks up to Ekaterina, revealing his face and the huge bags under his dull green eyes, "Tourist, right?" He asks with a bit of amusement.
Ekaterina Vespucci "Uh yeah..." Kat says. She was here on business but now it was concluded. No reason to go into that. "They have rats this big just in the streets. In other cities they call pidgeons 'rats with wings' are these rats 'pidgeons without wings'?" Kat regrets the observation as soon as she has made it. "That wasn't very funny. I'm Kat," she introduces herself rubbing her eyes.
Dan Richter The man chuckles ever so slightly, "These are pretty standard for Gotham. Maybe a little on the fatter side, since I like to look after em, but still, hardly out of the norm." The rats poke their tiny twitching noses out, sniffing cautiously at the newcoming tourist, "I'm Dan. Pleasure to meet ya." He says with a voice as tired as his eyes, offering a hand.
Ekaterina Vespucci The girl extends a small hand that is soft and warm. There are a few flecks of paint on it as well. She must have been up to something involving alot of it earlier. "Pleased to meet you. This is a favorite haunt of yours?" Kat asks.
Dan Richter Dan shrugs, "It's near enough to my house that I can crawl back if I get shot. Besides, the hot dog guy owes me, so he gives me a discount." He gestures to the bench and slides down to an end, the rats moving slightly to stay near him.
Ekaterina Vespucci "You crawl back to your house if you get shot?" Kat asks, "Do you live in a hospital?" She looks down at the rats, "They certainly are tame. Not sure I like that."
Dan Richter Dan shrugs again, "Just a basic basement apartment." He reaches down and tosses down some torn up bread, the rats quickly descending on it and leaving scarcely a crumb, "They just know I'm not gonna hurt them. Took weeks before they'd even come out in the light, but they came around. They're just scared is all." He gives one of the rats a slight smile as it darts it's head out to look up at him.
Ekaterina Vespucci "I don't like hospitals - mercifully I never need them," Kat says cryptically. "I have a refurbished warehouse I live in. Lots of light for painting in the central room. Like a studio apartment." Explaining the paint on her.
Dan Richter Dan chuckles a bit, "I can take care of most of my own wounds. Only needed something a bit more....intensive, a few times, and those were times I was in and out of consciousness, ya know?" He gestures down the bench again, apparently taking notice that Kat still hasn't sat down.
Ekaterina Vespucci Kat is a bit standoffish but evidently not trying to be rude she looked at Dan helplessly when he first offered. She seems to read his mind. "Oh sorry - I'm a little slow to trust - I was almost robbed twice in Gotham. Once I got saved by Red Robin. The second time I ran into Batman. I don't think if I got into trouble a third time anybody is going to help me." She glances around with those huge alluring eyes with a measure of skittishness.
Dan Richter Dan nods, "Fair enough. Gotham is a rough town. It'll swallow you up if you're not at least as rough as it." He pauses and hmmms for a moment, ".....If you're bein harassed by some small time thugs, try name droppin the Falcones. Should get em off your back if you're convincing about it....I wouldn't try it with any of the big names though. They'll probly just get more aggressive if ya do." He shrugs, "Sorry. Dont know what else ta tell ya, aside from stick to brighter streets, and try get home as quick as possible.....And if all else fails, scream as loud as possible. In this city, somebody oughta respond. And even if it's somethin bad doin it, they make a great distraction."
Ekaterina Vespucci "Thankyou for the advice Dan," Kat says with a small sweet smile tinged with sadness. "I'll see you around some time no doubt if I am in this part of Gotham again. But I live in New York." She nods and makes her way along the path further now looking out for the rats that are no doubt devouring her hotdog. "Addio," she says in Italian as she she leaves.
Dan Richter Dan nods to Kat as she leaves, "'ujrat 'iilayk jayidaan. qad taqudk tariquk 'iilaa fajr 'akthar 'iishraqa." Most likely this will sound like gibberish to Kat's ears, but Dan says it nonetheless. Should she turn back to question it, she'll find he's already gone, like a whisper in the night.
