Ekaterina Vespucci It's night time and Kat has stopped by her favorite coffee shop for a long black before she returns to her guarded compound in Queens. She finished teaching her Art History class for the semester and is into grading essay and inspecting artwork. As usual the more rude native New Yorkers have jostled the small girl to the back of the line. She curses in Italian, "Certamente scegli l'unico signore del crimine che non si spezzerà le ginocchia per farlo." But she takes her position at the back and patiently waits till she gets her coffe and one of the hazelbut spread donuts she loves so much. She sits and goes over the monumental amount of material she has to grade. Too much for her to carry given her small frame. But she persists with the ferocity of her Italian forebears,
Helena Shepard "E bene che non dovresti farlo, odio dover fermare una cosa carina come te." A tall woman who now stands behind her says in Italian. Granted, this woman is over six and a half feet tall, and when she removes her sunglasses, her watery blue eyes can be seen. She gets a few Kolaches as well as a huge cup of high calorie iced coffee. Moving to a table not far from the little Lady Don, Helena opens a book that looks to be written in ancient chinesse.
Ekaterina Vespucci "Kind of a back handed compliment," Kat says looking at the imposing woman with a frown above her large cornflower blue eyes. She takes note of the book the woman is reading and returns to her pile of work. She mulls briefly over the prodigious amount of work she has to do then her thoughts returning to the tall woman nearby she concludes she has to be another of the hero's congregating here. She had after all met Diana Prince recenlt in this very coffee shop a couple of weeks ago.
Helena Shepard Helena Shepard smiles and without looking up from her book. A warrior's instinc gives her pause to lift her eyes. "I'm not a telepath or anything, but if you have questions, why not ask?" She says with a half smirk, closing the book, Sun Tzu's the art of war. and sets it aside as she takes a sip of her iced coffee.
Ekaterina Vespucci "I find myself remarkably uncurious today," Kat says smiling politely. "Perhaps it is the weather or my workload driving me to distraction. Or the preponderence of tall and superheroines with model good looks around here. You must be one of them," Kat thinks out loud. "I am more of a flight than fight person. The former has terrible consequences for me when I try and make a stand."
Helena Shepard "I tried to become a model.. they said I was too muscular." Helena says with a chuckle, grante,d the large coat she is wearing that is buttoned up to her neck hides the definition, but if her clothing is of high quallity, it is, then obviously it was made to fit her. "Well, doing bad things does end up with people wanting to fight you, if you stopped doing those bad things, you'd have a viking like me protecting you." She says with a wink. "Helena Shepard, or Battleborn, if you've seen the recent videos." Yep, a huge mass of a woman with a public identity.
Ekaterina Vespucci "Doing good things in a group of bad people will often net you as much trouble as is alleviated by your suggestion of not doing bad things," Kat says offhandedly though the remark must apply to her on some level. "I'm Kat," she says not bothering with the elaborate Contessa introduction she occasionaly does in Italian. "I've been out of the loop," Kat says in relation to the Battleborn videos. "No news is good news."
Helena Shepard Helena Shepard smiles. "Well you have a point, and doing bad things for good reasons can also be wrong." She says, though it's probably more about the half asgardian than the little mafiosa she is talking too. "Just as well, you'd be surpised how people can;t really put my name to my face, even though I'm not hard to miss."
Ekaterina Vespucci "There are alot of hero's out there - no offense taken I hope by my not recognising you. I have been very distracted by events of late that have taken up all of my attention and I do not follw the news feeds," Kat wsas in one of the feeds actually getting killed and coming back to life in front of a large group of people in Central Park most of whom were mercifully distracted by Wonderwoman and a giant mechanical monster she was fighting. Bur some people noticed this new mysterious ostensibly immortal girl.
Helena Shepard "Speaking of news, It's not everyday you meet someone who can come back to life, granted, I can heal twice as fast as a normal human, not not even I could come back from a hit like that." Helena says as she takes the last bite of her kolache, and smiles. "An ability like that, you do know that with propper training you could become quite the warrior." She says with a smirk, of cours,e helena went through the harshest trainning ever, in the history of trainning, and then took people through that harshes trainning herself.
Ekaterina Vespucci "You can become a warrior if you can gain muscle bulk. If you are unchanging and gain neither fat nor muscle from food or exercise you might have difficulty making the transition to warrior. Add to that the problem of enhanced senses enhancing pain that you feel to the point where a paper cut feels like a bullet. I'm never going to be a warrior. I just... am," Kat says echoing the famous English translation of René Descartes famous aphorism. "And what I am is small and weak - forever apparently."
Helena Shepard Helena Shepard nods. "That does present itself a problem, someone who can;t fight back, nor can they make themselves able to fight back..." She says as she thinks for a second, and then flicks a business card from her pocket and writes her personal cell number on the back before placing it on Kat's table. "Should you find yourself in a situation and need help, give me a call. If you are innocent... at the time... I'll help you." She says with a smile.
Ekaterina Vespucci "Thank you for the thought but I have been around a while and have found ways to defend myself." She takes the card out of interest anyway. "I think I've just been in a slump running across too much trouble and acting a little too heroically. I'll just jump back onto trhe bleachers and off the field. Maybe that will help."
Helena Shepard Helena Shepard smiles as she stands up. "Well, if you are going to be in the bleachers, then cheer for me." She says with a smile as she doesn;t leave, but goes back to the counter and orders a huge cinimon roll with pecans on it, and another iced coffee... apparently a person her size eats... alot.
