Andrea Having been crashing at her Manhattan apartment with Laura the last few days, Andrea has been enjoying her back and forth trip from home to school then back to home. Laura though, has elected to stay behind to do whatever it is that she does while she is gone. Far as anyone knows, she is still living with the living legend Diana Prince that Jean sent her away to. The popstar sits on her bed, tapping along at her phone. Text: Mason, you there?
Mason     Mason's response is slow, probably a good half hour. That's because he was sleeping, face planted in his pillow. When he wakes up, he flips his phone on its side, spotting the text. He types back: Yo, then lets his head fall back on the pillow, closing his eyes as he waits to hear another ding.
Andrea Another text comes through: Hey. What are you doing right now?

Andrea flops back on to her bed and stares up at the ceiling, twisting the phone about in her fingers for a bit as she waits.
Mason     Mason Texts: Studying.

He lets out a stretch, and sits up from his bed, then stands and walks to the dresser drawer, opening it to pull out a bag of spicey potato chips. He runs his hand through his hair, which doesn't help the bed head at all, then pulls a shirt from the next drawer down on the dresser.
Andrea Text: Wow, lying to me via text? You're terrible. The day you ever study on your own without me glowering at you would be the highlight of my life. We need to talk.

Uh oh. They need to talk? About what? Those are words no one really wants to hear.
Mason     Mason cocks one eyebrow as he looks at the phone.

He texts back: Whatever it was, I have a good explanation.
Andrea Text: Okay. Start explaining. You know that I know. Make me feel better.
Mason     Mason stares at his phone for several seconds before popping a chip in his mouth, then texts back as he munches on it.

Text: You may know, but I don't. What is it?
Andrea Grinning to herself, Andrea types away at her phone again. Text: Oh come on, you definitely know. Word gets around pretty easily. Fess up to it.
Mason     Mason gives a puzzled look to his phone, then goes to pull his jeans on. Girls and head games. He gives a grin, coming up with something ridiculous.

Text: Look, she was 55, and she was lonely. It didn't mean anything. I was just trying to make her feel better.
Andrea There is a loud snort from Andrea.

Text: 55, huh? I guess I can let it pass. But, seriously, we need to talk. You may be in danger. Can you come over to my place? Manhattan?
Mason     "Danger?" Mason echoes aloud. He grabs his shoes, lacing them up, then puts on his coat.

    Text: Danger? Um, ok. omw.
Andrea Text: Okay I will see you soon.

Andrea flops the phone on to the bed and gives a stretch, then heads over to the front door to unlock it. She is sure it will be a bit for him to make his way over, so she starts on fixing up some popcorn from her maker, then changes into something outer than her sleepwear.
Mason     Mason pulls up in his new car. It's a Volkswagen all electric. They gave it to him to promote the fact that the company, as of 2026, is all electric. It's sleek and green, every bit the sports car. Love those celebrity endorsements.

He closes the door, then heads up the elevator to Andrea's floor before knocking on the door, then trying the knob.
Andrea The door opens up easily to reveal the expansive, and expensive open floor of Andrea's apartment that gives a beautiful look of the city with a 360 wrap about windows. Sitting on a couch is Andrea, glancing up at him with a smile. "Hey you." She calls over, then hops off it. "You okay to take a quick test?"
Mason     "Uhh," Mason looks apprehensively back at Andrea. "A test? I really was in danger, huh?" he says with his lopsided grin. "What kind of test?" He sheds his coat, "This another one of those things where you try to get me to confess to something?" he asks, walking over to the couch and tossing his coat across the back of it. New York is cold as hell, by the way, why do people like living here?" His California blood is a bit thin for this environment.
Andrea "Nope. Just answer these questions on this piece of paper one at a time as I determine if you're lying or being mentally manipulated." Andrea says as she hands over a printed out piece of paper, then blurs down into her lupine form with a loud snap and crack of bone as her clothes fall away into a pool at her paws. She kicks herself out of them, staring at him as she takes in a deep breath of his scent, first to see if there is anything out of place, then to gauge his emotional reaction.

Question 1: Have you been in contact with Miss Frost lately?
Mason     Mason watches. He's never really gotten used to seeing Andrea transform, and uncomfortably looks down at the paper. "What in the world are you talking about. This some kinda social experiment?" he asks. "I mean, Miss Frost is at the school, so yeah, of course. Your wolf form have super lie detector powers now, too?" Of course, he can't understand any of her responses while in wolf form, but he asks anyway.
Andrea There is a wilt of the ears backwards from the wolf as she stares up at him. She bats at his leg with her paw, motioning to the paper.

Question 2: Have you had moments missing from your day recently? Forget where you were or what were you doing? Have you not felt like yourself recently?
Mason     Mason sighs, and looks back at the paper. "Have you had moments missing from you day?" He gives her an incredulous look. "Andy, what in the world? We goin' X-files now? Forget where I was or what I was doing?" He lowers the paper, looking back at her. "What's this all about, anyway? This is kinda weird."
Andrea There is a loud growl from Rage as she snaps at his leg with her teeth. Her paw stomps on the ground, then points at the paper. ANSWER THE QUESTIONS! She screams at him mentally, eyes widening, gleaming brightly.
Mason     Mason sighs, and shakes his head. "No, no, and only when I'm drunk." He lowers the paper again. It's clear he isn't taking this very seriously. "Happy now?" he asks.
Andrea There is a loud huff from the wolf as she paces back and forth around in circles.

Question 3: Do you trust me?
Mason     "Yes, I trust you," Mason says, looking mildly annoyed. "Can you tell me what this is all about now? You're actin' pretty Cyrus right now."
Andrea The form of Andrea blurs back upwards on to two legs as she reaches out to snatch the paper from his hand. "You know, Mason. When I tell you that you may be in trouble and I ask you to do something, take it fucking serious, okay? I wouldn't do this to waste your time." She crumples the paper and chucks it at his chest, glowering at him. Leaning down, she plucks up her clothes and starts to pull them on. "The school is under a psychic attack and Miss Frost is compromised, perhaps Miss Grey also. I don't have all the pieces yet, but Laura and I are working on it. Miss Grey sent her away to live with Wonder Woman and the Amazons in the city, telling her she has to stay away because it's dangerous and she may be affected. Then she left the school. Well, Miss Grey came back and her story all changed and it didn't line up. So Laura and I are trying to reach out to the students that we trust because we may be in for a fight."
Mason     Mason listens, a curl of suspicions turning into a curl of worry. "So..." he says, "If Miss Frost and Miss Grey are in trouble, then what are we supposed to do about it? I mean, it's not like we can do anything about it. Sure I'm good at avoiding people reading my thoughts, but they are way above that already."
Andrea "I don't know what we can do. I just know that Miss Grey's room burned down in a bad fire, she takes off, tells Laura to stay away from the mansion and that she's in danger. Then she comes back and tells me that Laura ran away from the mansion because we all hate her and she doesn't know why... and then Laura tells me she has no clue what I'm talking about, that it was Miss Grey that told her to run away." Andrea throws her hands up. "Miss Grey then tells me that Emma is dangerous and that she is psychically compromised... and Laura tells me that she was going to kill her." She tugs her shirt on over her body, followed by her pants. 'And Wonder Woman used her lasso of truth on us and determined that Laura and I are both not lying. So either Jean lied to her or she lied to me." She pauses, then sighs.

"So I had to get you out of there. Erika should be next because her powers are useful in this situation for a change. Go figure, right? She can finally be a superhero for five minutes." She pinches her brows together. "Laura is living here with me now. I think she's out donig a stake out or something. I need you to pack up some and move in here with me too. Isolate you. You have some mental resistance that I don't have yet, so we need you, just in case.." She chews her lip. "I just know that the world's psychics are in danger, including your mom, and Miss Grey said that if she and her friends can't defeat it, we're all in the shit."
Mason     Mason seems to glaze over a little with the long explanation. "So wait, Miss Grey was gonna kill Laura? Or Laura was gonna kill Miss Grey? I'm confused. And when did you meet Wonder Woman? Is she as hot in person as she is in the videos? Or is it one of those airbrush things?" He needs the important details, clearly.
Andrea There is a loud sigh from Andrea as she punches him in the chest. "Laura was going to kill Emma Frost based upon what Miss Grey told her before I went out to find her." At the next part, her eyes roll upwards. "... She is beautiful, yes. She's also one of my idols, so don't talk poorly of her. She is royalty you know. She doesn't need airbrushing. She is perfect."
Mason     "So why not just tell Miss Frost? If Miss Grey wants to get Miss Frost killed, then they probably aren't both playing for the...whoever we are against is? Who is our bad guy now? Miss Grey? Or some fire monster thing?" He rubs his temple. "Maybe we could find the Professor, he will know what to do." Of course, that'd also require finding the professor, which may be easier said than done.
Andrea "Laura isn't going to do it. It was just her gut instinct. I think something is possessing Miss Frost, which is dangerous being that she is one of the most powerful telepaths in the world. I don't know what Miss Grey's plans are but I just feel like we need to be away from the mansion for our safety. I think we should reach out to Mister Summers first. The professor is a telepath too."
Mason     "So..." Mason frowns. "What do we do? I mean, if they are telepaths and can mess with our thoughts, how do you even know any of it is real? Maybe it's like, another telepath making you think all this is happening, or one of them making you think the other one is doing...stuff. Or...man this makes my head hurt," Mason groans. "I need a beer."
Andrea "I'm me and my mind is not messed with." Andrea assures him with a loud snort, giving him a poke in the chest. "If it was, I wouldn't have contacted you to tell you about this ulterior plan of trying to protect ourselves." She rolls her arms back and forth to loosen herself up, then curls her hands about his neck. Smirking, she leans in and gives him a kiss. "There. That's real."
Mason     Mason doesn't return or recede from the kiss. His mind is clearly on the gravity of this situation. It's certainly beyond his skill set. "Y'know, they said we'd be safer there," he confesses. "Seems like the staff there are in the middle of every major threat you hear about on TV."
Andrea "So are the Avengers and the Justice League. Technically we are safer there, but just like anywhere in life, there are challenges and risks. We just have to stay positive and make the most of it. This will pass I'm sure. I trust the staff and the heroes who are working to resolve it to come through. If not? We do us." Andrea says as she brushes her fingers through the back of his hair, swaying back and forth. "Do you think we should leave the school? Go back to our normal lives?"
Mason     "All I ever wanted was a normal life," Mason says. "Well..." he corrects himself. "I guess we don't have normal lives anyway, but you know what I mean. Less people try to murder you when you are a musician. Still plenty that want to control your mind, so I guess that's the same," he says with a wry grin.
Andrea Smirking, Andrea brushes her kiss against his cheek, then rests her forehead against his. "I try and make my life normal as much as possible, even with the mutant popstar thing. I try and turn it all off when I'm by myself, or when I'm with you."
Mason     "Yeah," Mason says. "Well, don't get turned into a zombie by some telepath or something. It would suck if you weren't you anymore. I'm supposed to do a performance for the Tree lighting on Wednesday. You know our fans and labels would probably be thrilled for us to do a Christmas duet."
Andrea Raising a brow upwards, Andrea gives him a smile. "Are you /asking/ me to sing with you for Christmas?"
Mason     "Wow, act like it's some shock or something," Mason answers with a mild feigned offense. "They want me to sing Last Christmas. I hate that song, it's so overdone. Was working on something new, got the okay to do a 'big reveal'. Managers eat that shit up. He pulls his phone from his pocket. "I'll send it over to you."
Andrea "I'm shocked because usually I'm the one asking you to join me on stage." Andrea says with a grin, looking giddy at the chance to perform with him. "How do you hate that song? It's so cute." She says as she traces a finger over his chest in a circle, then starts to sing the opening lines to him. "Laaaaast Christmas, I gave you my heart, but the very next day you gave it away!" She sways back and forth, using her hands to pull his hips in close to move along with her.
Mason     "D, B minor, E minor, A. The /whole/ song," Mason answers, not resisting her pulling him in and swaying him. "No development, no evolution of the melody, no...anything!" His music snobbery is coming out strong. "Don't think I'm gonna play that song the way it's supposed to be played. I plan a chromatic dissonant development to resolve into a major fifth." In other words, it won't be at all the same melody.
Andrea As she stops singing, Andrea gives him a firm poke in the stomach. "Or, we could just make the song a bit more dramatic with some theater applied to it. It's a deep song about overcoming heartache. I think we both know something about that. Just know your audience, Mason. It's a special song to a lot of people, a timeless classic. You can't just Mason'fy a timeless classic because you hate the melody." She rubs the back of her neck. "And, I don't know.. I'm sorta a high profile target these days and that Tree Lighting event is a big deal. Maybe I should just watch from the television to keep you and everyone else safe."
Mason     Mason pauses, looking up from composing the e-mail as she pokes him in the stomach. "Sure I can. People don't expect me to do stuff the way everyone else does it. I know I don't." He seems to be without something to answer when she talks about watching from another location to keep everyone safe. He just stands there, as if his brain broke. Did she say no?
Andrea "Because the last thing anyone needs is the Reavers showing up on Christmas to kill me, and make the focus about me, when it should be about Christmas and you getting this /huge/ moment to shine, annnnd... I think it'd be cool to watch you as a fan and get all giddy as you look into the camera with your beautiful eyes and think that you're singing only to me." Andrea says as she gives his shirt a playful tug. "And that way the night would be perfect and I wouldn't ruin it."
Mason     "I guess," Mason says. "I didn't look at it that way." He seems a little disappointed. He takes in a breath. "And assuming that this telepath thing doesn't come and turn us all into zombies before then, right?" he circles back to the beginning of the conversation.
Andrea "Let me think about it, how about that?" Andrea says as she bites her bottom lip for a moment. "You know I'll do it if you really want me to. Just... no one knows you're a mutant, right? It's a high profile night.. and you'd be bringing me up on stage with you for the world to see."
Mason     "I guess," Mason says. "Well, I suppose if we gotta avoid the school for a bit, I better go get my stuff. I'll tell them I'm getting ready for a short tour or something."
Andrea Tucking some hair behind her ear, Andrea steps in and gives him a firm kiss as her arms curl about his neck. Once her lips break from his, she says, "I love you, Mason." Her forehead presses to his. "I'll see you later then. The three of us can get dinner tonight and have fun."
