Vorpal New Troy in the evening is certainly a sight to behold: even on Sunday night, it is teeming with commerce and activities, especially as the holiday season approaches.

Tommy normally doesn't shop in this area, as it tends to be out of his price range, but he currently finds himself in the delicate situation of trying to find an appropriate gift for his mother for this Christmas, which also doubles as her birthday. Some things do justify the breaking of the piggy, especially on birthdays where someone is turning a new decade.

So far, though, he hasn't had much luck finding the perfect gift, and so he files into one of the local sushi places, in the hopes of renewing his search soon.

He decides to check in on FaceSpace, to see if any of his friends might decide to drop by and offer some advice, or commiseration.

He sits at the table, still perusing the menu. Outside, the crowds continue to flow up and down the street.
Beast Boy      Garfield Logan had seen the beacon, responding with a message. "Mind some company? ;)" He asks, he wasn't too far down the road. Being able to fly and skip traffic made travel much easier.

The green young man had been used to people looking at him, he was a known personality and it didn't bug him at all, he actually liked it. Where he once was called a freak, he turned it into something positive.
Vorpal Tommy, on the other hand, keeps his identities separate. Weaving his powers of illusions, he reconstructs his appearance from before his transformation. Only his team-mates are privy to the secret that the illusion of the freckled ginger hides the Cheshire Cat.

"Get over here already :3" he sends back. He had to admit he didn't quite know how things were going to go with Garfield- he still had conflicting feelings about everything that had gone on, but he also would be lying if he said that seeing him again at the tower hadn't brightened his days.

Things were very confusing as of late.

"Two miso soups for now," he tells the waitress, "I'm waiting for someone."
Beast Boy      "Irrashaimase!" Calls one of the chefs from the counter. And in steps Gar.

He was certainly dressed well today. No need for a uniform, but he did have on a red and white hoodie that seemed to allude to it. There was even a green tiger paw print on the back. He knew what Tommy looked like, with glamour. "Hey!" He calls out, approaching with a pep in his step. "What's up?!" He asks, taking a seat and giving a big smile, even with those pronounced canines it was a good smile, friendly and warm, not intimidating.
Vorpal "My mood, for one," Tommy answers, sipping on his soda while returning the smile. "I needed a bit of sunshine today."

He is wearing nondescript khakis and t-shirt. Decidedly underdressed for the district.

"I ordered you a miso soup... I didn't know what you'd want, so I told her to come back later."

He exhales and leans back on his seat.

"So... how's settling back working out? You're getting an apartment or staying at the tower?"
Beast Boy      "Good!" Gar responds, looking at Tommy with much more happiness than a couple days ago.

"Oh yeah! Gimme that yummy yummy fermented soybeans!" BB responds, licking his lips in anticipation. "Dude, I haven't had good sushi in forever! Okay, I'm totes going omakase! And hope I get some uni." A soft rumble from his stomach rings out, followed by a little blush. "Hehe, I guess my tummy agrees."

A napkin placed on his lap, and a set of chopsticks split open and rested before he answers the last question. "I dunno yet. I spent the night in the tower, but some psycho Inuit dude threw knives at me and Cassie. Serious Norman Bates vibes man."
Vorpal "Oh heavens, that guy," Tommy shakes his head and smirks, getting his own pair of chopsticks. "You know you can crash at my apartment anytime, like you used to." He pauses as the waitress brings their soup and stands by to take their order.

Because he had been distracted by Garfield's arrival, he hadn't quite decided what he wanted- but he quickly makes notes a-blur on the menu list, orderinng a good variety of rolls and then handing it to Gar so he can choose his own. Once the orders are taken and the waitress has departed, he continues.

"Cassie was there? I haven't had much of a chance to hang out with her. She seems cool..."

He starts sipping his miso soup, and blushes a little. "When I said you could crash at my place, I can sleep on the couch, you know. I mean... I know that we were... you know, before..." He coughs a little. "This is all coming out wrong. I'm not offering a crash space with an ulterior motive. I mean..."

He reaches for his soda and takes a sip, "I'm not entirely sure what I am saying, to be honest. "
Beast Boy      Gar gives the waitress a smile and orders. "Omakase, please." Should be an assortment of nigiri, whatever the chef feels is the best he has right now.

Dark green eyebrows raise as Tommy mentions the staying at his place. "I couldn't let you take the couch. Yeah, Cassie was there, she said she just got back. She caught the moon moon's knife while I was totally not freaked out or anything. Almost ruined my favorite jammies dangit."

The vocabulary flubs just get Gar to giggle. "I think I know what you mean." He says coyly, he wouldn't try an ulterior motive either.
Vorpal Tommy smiles sheepishly and focuses on his soup for a little.

"I'm all thumbs when it comes to handling the elephant in the room. And the only reason I said that is because I know this place is too small for you to turn into an elephant for the punchline."

Outside, it begins to rain, and the windows of the restaurant quickly become streaked by rain as it pounds on the glass.

"So... after you left, I kind of... shut down. I shut everybody out. You can ask Colette... she was very pissed. And then... well, the little dude did a thing where he tested us by assuming a different identity. I kind of..." He takes a deep breath. His seaweed salad arrives, and he begins to nibble on it. "Long story short, I decided to go somewhere to clear my mind and be as far away from everyone as possible. So, of course, I went to Scotland."

"I was out and about somewhere north of Ballater... place is full of forests. I got lost in my thoughts. Thinking of the stuff that happened... thinking of you..."

He grows quiet, and then takes as sip of his drink. "And then I heard voices calling out to me. One voice. it was very... hard to resist. Next thing I know, I'm somewhere underground..."

He trails off, playing absent-mindedly with his salad.
Beast Boy      "Dude, I'm gonna do it." Gar play-threatens.

Once Tommy explains more about what had happened during Gar's absence, the cheery fellow looks a bit uneasy. "So, they took you underground? What then?" He of course, does wish to know more, but also still feeling guilty.
Vorpal "Somehow I ended up in one of those... underground places the Fae like so much. They have a name. I can't think of it right now. They did something to me there. I know there's something inside me. And I know feel it's a warning of some sort. Just... having a hard time getting it out."

He looks out the window, and no particular point, "I need to get it out. Sometimes, I hear things no-one else can. There's a fiddler somewhere playing this song. And it's sad and beautiful. Heart-breakingly beautiful, terribly sad. I sometimes hear it, hidden in the honking of traffic during rush hour. I try not to listen because I get the urge to..."

Tommy takes another sip of his drink. He is quiet.
Beast Boy      Gar looks at Tommy with concern on his face. "You get the urge to...kill? Suck blood? Oh, no I get it! You get the urge to fill Raven's room with rainbows and unicorns!" It's an attempt at humor for this awkward situation.
Vorpal "I have the urge to /follow/ it, wherever it leads me," Tommy answers quietly. "And I know that's not good."

He looks down at his sushi rolls, and begins to consume them, almost mechanically. "That's why I'm afraid of silence nowadays. Because I think I may /hear/ it."

He looks at his green companion, and smiles a little. "I may need some distractions around me until I can get this out of me, Gar."
Beast Boy      Gar keeps his smile up. "I can be distracting." He says with a chuckle. "Who else you know can turn into a brontosaur?" Gar, ever the optimist, reaches for Tommy's hand. "How do we get it out of you?" He asks.
Vorpal Tommy hesitates for a moment, but then he takes Gar's hand in his. "I need to remember the... shape of it. If I remember the shape, it'll be like turning a key in a lock..."

He pauses, and then chuckles shaking his head. "I'm not making any sense, I know." He breaks the contact to reach for his food again, and looks out the window again, a slight smile.

"Elphaba's son, eh?" he says teasingly, "Do you think the author will ever write a Wonderland book where I can get in on the movie action?"
Beast Boy      "Liir was fun to play. But he's messed up, yo. I guess that's what happens when your mom drops you off at a monastery." Gar takes a healthy slurp of his miso soup, very tasty. "You wouldn't have to do that to make it. They just hired me to save on makeup costs."
Vorpal "Sure, sure, and I am sure your performance in Pete's Dragon had nothing to do with your casting whatsoever."

Tommy eats a few more bites, and then frowns a little. The restaurant is quiet, the atmosphere is subdued. His lips purse.

"Did you just hear a fiddle...?"
Beast Boy      "I was a great dragon in that, wasn't I?" He says, giving a big smile. Gar quiets down, listening around. "No, I heard a violin."
Vorpal "N-nevermind..." the cheshire grins nervously, and reaches out to take Gar's hands with both of his. "You were a great dragon, Gar. And as Elphaba's son..." he chuckles and trails off. He leans back and gives a rather mischievous look. "That little sleeveless vest they had you in. Okay... I'll admit it, I saw the movie... five times."
Beast Boy      "I'm kinda glad I got to play him. Yeah, I was green already so it gave me an in, the casting people could see what I'd look like. And then...the prosthetics. Can you imagine me being all rolly-polly? Oof. Wait you saw it five times?! I guess dinner's on me." Gar offers with a big wink, offering a just-as-mischievous smile.
Vorpal Tommy smirks, and looks out at the rain. "Let's eat up. I am starting to get tired of all the fairy music in the background..." he sighs, "Gar, I need to be in the moment. I can't let my mind wander, because then I am afraid it might not get back all the way." He leans forward, getting close to Gar. "... can you keep me in the moment? You're good at that, no?"
Beast Boy      Garfield looks a little out of place, chewing a piece of nigiri and suddenly stopping. "Whatchu mean?" He asks, mouth full of tuna and rice. He touches noses with Tommy for a brief period, before finishing chewing.
Vorpal Noticing he's not quite getting through, Tommy exhales and tries to think. Reaching for a piece of sushi, he plops it into his mouth and thinks for a second. Then, he says "... off the top of your head. If you could do anything, right now, after eating- no matter where, or with whom, what would it be? Don't think about it, just say the first thing that comes to you."
Beast Boy Gar's smile grows wide. "Playing games with you, me, Cliff, and Larry. Mario Party." The Beast Boy imagines and smiles. "Or there's other things..." he says with a little sheepish grin.
Vorpal Tommy grins and leans back. "Why, Garfield Logan... so forward, and we have only just begun dating again!" He takes a roll and nibbles on it, looking at Gar.

"... you mean it?" he asks, showing a moment of insecurity. His cheeks are burning, but this is good. Emotions, happenings, keep him in the moment.
Beast Boy      "Well, yeah. I mean it. Or I wouldn't have said it." Gar responds, sipping on his water. "Why, sound good?" He chuckles, licking one of his extended incisors.
Vorpal "I am completely full," Tommy says, politely cleaning his mouth with his napkin. His plate is only half finished, with plenty of rolls left. "I believe I shall get a doggy bag," the redhead says, and looks at Gar. "How about you? You must be stuffed. And I just remembered I have the coffeepot brewing back at the apartment..."

He leans back and raises an eyebrow.
Beast Boy      "Same here...you said the magic word..." Gar gives a wry smirk before he quickly morphs into a green beagle and howls. "Sure, let's blow this biscuit stand."
Vorpal Tommy laughs and shakes his head. Dropping what is probably too much cash for the bill, he grabs his satchel and stands up. "Shall we take the express way?" He asks, as he exits the restaurant with Garfield in tow. He takes a sharp left to go into an alleyway. A Rabbit Hole opens as he walks, one leading to his apartment.

"After you," he says, gesturing with a hand as the rain falls around him.
Beast Boy      The Gar Beagle takes his doggy bag in his maw, claws clacking on the hardwood floor. "Rank you!" He says to the staff, muffled by the doggy bag.

And into the rabbit hole he goes, tail wagging and all.
