Owner Pose
Matt Murdock It was cold outside, frost creeps across the iconic Fogwell window and in the rest of the building, one can see there breath, but not in the gym, here at least the old radiators creak and moan as they give off heat, offering a little bit of sactuary from the chill January evening.

For once, Matt isn't out patrolling, or fighting Hand, he's not even wearing the suit which had become like a second skin of late, instead he's at the gym, doing a little light work on the fast bag, while he waits for others to arrive. Earlier he sent out a text to all the Defenders that read:

Matt >> Hang out at the gym. Definitely not a 'work' thing. I have coffee and sandwiches from Nelson's Meats.

With that hook baited, Matt waited to see who'd come bite.
Richard Dragon Well, all Matthew had to do was ask.

Richard Dragon approaches wearing but a black tank top and black jeans, with some boots. He sems to have decided not to bring along his full formal attire as he's oftne done of late, much like Murdock and his 'second skin'.

But the Grandmaster smiles to his student, and he gives him a gentle smile. "I see you sent out an invitation. So tell me, am I a worthy competitor?"
Kate Bishop Kate wasn't a Defender. Hell, she wasn't even an Avenger. She was kind of Defender-Avenger adjacent. Somehow she got the text anyway. Not entirely certain it was meant for her, she shows up late - mostly to peruse the crowd and see who /does/ show up, and then gauge what sort of an entrance it is she's going to have to make. As it turns out, it's a small crowd, which leaves her a lot more relaxed and able to view the event in a casual light.

"Hey you," she says to Matt as she strolls in, coming to place a kiss upon his cheek, because while there are those who know her relationship with Matt is fabricated (for reasons), most think it's still a live and kicking thing, and well, kisses are what you do, right?

"So, what's this about a party, I hear?"
Matt Murdock Matt stops hitting the bag when Dragon walks in. The man looks rough, tired, like he and his bed only have a nodding acquaintance, though due to the publicity of his fake relationship, he's at least clean shaven for a change. He moves to unwrap the tap from his hands without looking back, "Aren't you cold?" he asks grinning about the jeans and tank top ensamble.

"And competitor for what? Sandwich eating contest?" he teases as he tosses the tape in the trash just before Kate is there kissing his cheek. "Hey," he greets kissing her cheek in turn before carrying on to Dragon. "Because if so, then my money is on Kate."

Then he circles around to the party. "And yeah, thought we could all use a night off that wasn't at Josie's so, I hit up Foggy's parents shop for some food and coffee over there," he nods to the table pushed against the wall. "Figured we could relax for the night, be people for a chance." A beat, followed by a tired smile. "And no I didn't fall on my head or get traded for a clone or something. Just," he shrugs like what he's about to say is crazy. "Felt like a night off."
Richard Dragon "Of course I am. Yet one must learn to freeze in order to burn hot." Another one of Dragon's sayings that doesn't make too much sense. His eyes remain on Matt, and he at least shaved. But, he shakes his head. "Of course not. You clearly seem to be training. Might as well see if you have improved." He glances to Kate's gesture to Matt, and he tilts his head.

Well, good to see he's at least attempting to recover.

"It's good that you finally learned to take a day off. Even the greatest conquerors and justice-keepers learned to rest." he smiles then, before he looks to the punching bag, then he moves to one of the sparring mats.
Kate Bishop Kate offers the pair a grin. "I am not getting involved. You two want to duke it out up on the mats there, go for it. Me? Sandwich and coffee. Besides, I might pick up a pointer or two."

She'd not been aware of the mentor-mentee relationship the two had, and frankly, she was curious to see just want sort of moves the other had. She's seen Matt in a fight, but not the other.

"Besides, someone has to keep score."
Matt Murdock "Think the guy in Gotham ever takes nights off?" Matt jokes as he glances over at the mats considering.

As for Kate's comments, he grins. "Sure you don't want in?" he teases. "Might be educational? Plus means more coffee and sandwiches for me."

Not that he hadn't helped himself, if he was going to take one of those rare breaks he was going to enjoy it. "A quick spar," he rules finally, "Then I'm going to eat."

Though when Dragon moves to the mats, Matt shakes his head, "Not there," he points to the ring. "There. I mean I own the thing, might as well use it."

He moves in that direction.
Richard Dragon Richard chuckles to Kate, looking her in the eyes. "If you say so. Though, try not to be biased?" He implies she'd favor Matt because of apparent affection shown previous, fabricated or no. Matt's comments gets a small smile. "Very well. This is your gym after all. Though try not to be too injured if you still lose, Matthew."

Richard enters the ring after Matt does and he takes a light stance. "Let's see how much you've learned, old friend."
Kate Bishop Kate's laughter can be heard from the refreshment table. "I'm sure he's too uptight to take a night off." Not that she really knows Batman. She certainly doesn't know his alter ego. It's all just good fun. "And do I want in? Not sure. Could say I'll take on the winner, but how about I see how bad you boys are before I commit myself. Just had my nails done and all that."

Oh, such a lie, if you knew anything about her at all.

Dragon gets an innocent look. "Me? Biased? Never." Ever so amused.
Matt Murdock Matt climbs into the ring, still smiling, he rolls his neck and does a few shadow punches to get warmed up. "Well, as long as you're not too disapointed if I knock you on your ass." Fat chance of that happening of course.

"Must be one of those new no polish manicures," Matt teases Kate, he could have smelled new nail polish if it'd been there. "And hey, I am all for bias, say, if you spot me a couple of points I promise to say something conservative the next time I'm around your father."

Then without any more warning, Matt spinning into a flip kick at Dragon, trying to catch his mentor by surprise.
Richard Dragon "Well good." Then Richard chuckles at Matt's declaration that he'll knock Richard on his ass and if he succeeds, he shouldn't be surprised. Well, Richard wouldn't be. He trained Matt well. But after Kate's declaration, he smiles softly, before he's suddenly looking at Matt as he attacks!

...Richard just sways out of hte way, then attempts to grab Matt in mid-air to try and Judo throw him to the ground in one fluid motion! Of course, Matt wasn't just a Boxer, so even Richard was making a risk with this kind of offense.
Kate Bishop "CAught me," Kate admits of the nail polish and manicure. Because she's not that kind of girl. And Matt knew it.

She settles back on one of the nearby benches, watching the fight as it begins, totally drinking in the moves and trying to imagine herself employing them.

"I don't know, Matt. I'm thinking I should be giving him bonus points for putting up with your lousy footwork," she teases.
Matt Murdock Matt had been just playing around with that first attack, he was relaxed, trying to have fun. He should have known Sifu would be taking things up a notch.

Matt hits the mats (heh) hard, but bounds up easily. "So much for my night off," he quips, though, as he comes in with some more measured punches, testing Dragon's defences.

"Gee thanks," he grins. "I think he got more than enough points flinging me around like a rag doll. What do I need to do to get a little unfair judging here?"
Richard Dragon Well, Richard was being playful too. He could have knocked Matt unconscious with that throw if he moved his hips into it. But, he smiles to Matt. "Oh no, it is still your night off Matt. But light training still counts." he chuckles.

Looking to Kate, Richard bows his head softly, appreciatively, before he looks back to Matt. He lifts a single arm, blocking most of Matt's punches, the palm of his left hand blocking other strikes that manage to get past. "Widen your stance, Matthew."
Jessica Jones It gets boring being stuck confined to bed on Claire's orders, so Jessica has taken it upon herself to decide that some time outside for...fresh air? Yeah, that's a good one. She decides it's healthy for the recovery process. She's made sure to double up on the bandages, keep her jacket tightly zipped, buttoned and clasped, before making her way to Fogwell's Gym. Why? Because a chance to run into Murdock, and ask him if he has any clue what was the thing that shis-kebabed her kidney.
Kate Bishop Kate merely smirks, and takes a bite of her sandwich, the other hand holding a coffee. She nods back at Dragon, but she doesn't answer either man about how to earn points, totally demuring on the matter.
Matt Murdock Matt instinctively followed Dragon's instructions, spreading out his feet as he keeps throwing punches at the master. Then out of the blue he throws in a kick, to try to catch the man off-guard.

"Really? No answer?" he calls back to Kate.

At the same time his senses catch boots on the stairs and the presence of, "Hey, Jess is here," he calls to the others, his moment of focus on his senses giving Dragon an opening to finish him off.
Richard Dragon Richard looks at Matt approvingly. He can hear the steps of Jessica Jones as she approaches, but remains focused on Matt. When the kick is thrown? Dragon just leans backwards, dodging it completely...and making it look easy to boot. "Doesn't appear so."

Richard is a fair fighter, but he does touch Matt's shoulder. "You lose." indicating lightly that he could have finished Matt off right then and there. But, he clasps his hands behind him and looks towards Jessica. "Hello."
Jessica Jones Jessica does indeed make her way up the stairs, before making her way inside, just as Matt heralded. She moves considerably slower than usual, and seems to lean towards her injured left side. Claire has been doing her job well, since Jessica has no drink on her person, and as she looks up at Richard Dragon and Matt doing their thing, she snorts, "if I'd had known there are karate lessons, I'd sign up, just found out they're kinda important with all those damned ninjas everywhere."
Matt Murdock Matt takes the tap on the shoulder with an exhalation through his nose. "Got me," he grins, before he turns from the ring to jump down and visit Jess.

"Hey, shouldn't you be resting or something?" he asked, his senses open to listen for the wrath of an approaching Claire. Finding none he says, "Not that I am going to narc on you," he offers with a smile. "And if you really do want some lessons, this guy," he nods to Dragon. "Is the best teacher you can find. Jessica Jones, meet Richard Dragon, and you already know our judge, there," he says nodding to Kate over at the sandwiches and coffee.
Richard Dragon Richard smiles to Jessica. "Well." then Matt introduces them to each other, in which Richard bows. "I've heard a lot about you, Jessica. It's nice to meet you." He does notice her injuries. "Were you harmed by a blade?" Richard was skilledi n healing. He approaches Jessica, and seems to look at her. "may I?" as in...may he take a gander at her injuries.

he looks back to Matthew. "You honor me with high praise."
Jessica Jones "I think Claire said something like...don't be vertical for a few days, but...do you know how fucking mindlessly boring that is?" She grins as Murdock promises not to narc, waves at her protege, and then levels her gaze on Richard, "this guy?" Jessica is behind on the manners, when Richard introduces himself properly, and only then she follows suit, "have you now? From who? Half the stuff said about me is lies," she offers as a disclaimer, she nods at the question, "bingo. Some creepy ninja stab you from behind like a pussy kind of blade..." it's always helpful to offer as much detail as possible after all, right?

She looks skeptical when Richard offers to do something, but what the heck, "sure...so long as you're not going to kill me, this thing hurts like a motherfucker."
Kate Bishop Kate continues to smirk as she leaves her seat on the bench. "I think you'll all do just fine without a judge. And if you need one, Jessica there is a much saltier one than I am. I mostly came for the sandwiches. Got some work to do and a dog to walk."

She waves at the group as she takes her leave. "Try not to hurt Matt too much. Even if he is kinda cute when he's got stitches."

And with that, the younger woman is gone.
Matt Murdock "Later Kate, I'll give you a call tomorrow," Matt says as the younger PI walks out.

"Like the lady said, we've got sandwiches," he explains as he nods back at the table full of same. "From Foggy's folks' shop." He likely brought them by Alias a time or two when checking in on Jess.

"And he didn't hear any of it from me, must have been the news reports about you talking to Frost giants." There is a smirk for that which vanishes quickly when it comes to talking about Jess' wound. "How bad is it? I am sorry I didn't get to stick around when I dragged you to Claire," then to Dragon he adds. "First aid kits in the back."
Richard Dragon Richard Dragon nods very softly to Jessica. "I would certainly hope so. Though the information about your more brash nature appears to be true." he teases Jessica in a paternal manner before he nods to Matt. "thank you." he looks to Jessica. "Have a seat, if you like. I will see what I can do to treat it. Do you think the wound is deep?" Richard asks, since he hasn't checked the wound. AKA did the blade go straight through? or did it strike bone? At any rate, Richard will return shortly with the medkit after waving goodbye to Kate.
Jessica Jones Jessica visibly flinches at the reminder about the Frost Giants story, "ugh, I remember that one...guess what, I got to meet the guy they were after, Thor? King of Asgard or whatever? He ruined a parking meter on my street, shoving some weird currency inside it." She hesitates for a moment, and then quips, "but I'll grant that he's a looker."

Asked about the severity, Jessica snorts, "I'm alive...so I guess not that bad, but it hurts like a motherfucker, as I said, and Claire said I'm not allowed any alcohol which is just...criminal." Sighing bitterly, she adds, "that's why I wanted to see you, though Murdock, do you even know how it happened? All I know is one second I feel this terrible pain, I look down I see a sword piercing threw me, then everything got dark."

"Brash? Moi? Please...I'm in severe pain, I'm not at my best," Jess snorts at Richard, but she does listen when he suggests she sits down, though it takes her a bit of time to work herself into a sitting position, leaning quite a bit on the back support of the chair as she settles down. "I don't know...I think Claire's medical term was, your kidney is fucked."
Matt Murdock Matt smiles in that faintly sardonic way when people mention vision around him, "So I hear," he says about Thor's looks.

Then his humor goes away when it comes to just how Jessica got stabbed. "You don't really want to know," he says playing the Matt Murdock has to shoulder everything card. "Just get better, Jess..."

That's when he remembers the last time he talked to Jess in here, about how he and Kate hadn't shared the secret of their fake relationship. He also remembered her trying to be there for him when he thought Elektra had died. She deserved the truth.

"It was Elektra," he says. "The Hand found a way to bring her back and make her fight for them. I'm sorry, Jess, you shouldn't have been caught up in all of this."
Richard Dragon Richard just allows Matt to say what he knows. He doesn't interrupt, but he does seem to lift Jessica's shirt enough so he can clearly see the wound. "Your friend might be right. But...I will see what I can do." He takes out the classic alcohol and gets gauze ready.

"I will not lie. The beginning stages of this is going to hurt." He lets Jessica prepare herself...

THen he applies the alcohol. and the gauze, immediately after. Clearly he's trying to stop any possible infection from happening. Jessica was superhuman, but he doesn't believe that superhuman healing effects are part of her skillset.

He then closes his eyes, using Chi to help speed up the healing. It's very effective. But...it's not instantaneous. "this may take some time." but it was faster than waiting out the wound. He'd probably be able to mostly heal it. But body aches and sharp pain in the kidney area would still be common.
Jessica Jones Jessica just seem to zone out and stare into the ether when Matt eventually tells her who it was. Seems difficult for her to process, before she finally spits out "you telling me that motherfucking zombie Elektra did this to me? Fucking bitch dies, and still comes back to stab me in a perfect way to keep me from alcohol? Fuck me sideways that is nasty..." yeah, she's having a hard time thinking about Matt's emotions at the moment. Also, she hadn't had any alcohol for several days now, and Jessica isn't the person to cope with that kind of deprivation.

Luckily Richard is there to play role of healer, and distract her with an unhealthy dose of pain, as she snaps against the back support of the chair and starts swearing to high heavens, "holy fucking shit, that was not necessary," she groans, struggling to tone down and go back to hiding how much this actually hurts her. It really ruins her badass image to be in this much pain. "Tell Elektra I hope she goes on a date with an entire k-pop boyband for this."
Matt Murdock Matt grimaces, "Yeah," he says hanging his head. "That's about the long and short of it." The 'fucking bitch' comment stung him and it shows but he doesn't push, not after what happened with Jess.

He stands there numb for a moment before he says to Dragon. "I'll need to talk you about her after this," he says meaning Elektra. "And is there anything I can do to help with the healing?"

Then he thinks to add. "She's really strong by the way, in case you didn't know." Like being thrown rag doll across the room strong.
Richard Dragon Dragon listens to Jessica as she distracts herself successsfully by talking down about Elektra. Though Jessica's response that his actions were unnecessary, especially wit hthe Alcohol, were heeded and he responds simply. "If I hadn't, the wound would have been infected, and this would have hurt significantly worse."

Somewhare, Claire is smiling.

Richard though, turns his head lightly to Matt. "Yes. If you could grab me some Medical tape, that would be helpful." In the meantime, Dragon has closed his eyes, and Jessica might notice her wound is closing.

Chi. It's martial arts-ripoff magic.
Jessica Jones Jessica isn't fully there, so doesn't quite notice the magical work of Richard, which is in no way shape or form magic, because it's totally Chi. Even though Chi is Martial Arts for Magic. But she does start to feel a bit better, despite the pain, and eventually calls out, "that'll do...thanks Richard, I think I should go not be vertical right now, like Claire suggested."
