Aqualad Training Area, AKA the Danger Room of Titans Tower. Most of the group makes full use of this virtual reality room and Aqualad is no exception.

He was currently running a high-difficulty simulation against hyper-dangerous threats. Currently? Darkseid's parademons. Decked out in his full Atlantean armor, it looks like Kaldur's been putting Atlantean Martial Arts to good use.

Water Bearers in hand and in the sword configuration, he sliced through two parademons, causing them to collapse with fake blood pouring out of them....and even more are on the way. Kaldur looks like he's getting tired too....
Cassie Sandsmark A soft tone in the background announces a new arrival into the simulator. "Care for some backup?" Cassie offers casually from the doorway. For her part, she's decked out in full Amazon battle gear. Armor and bracers, Cass bears a longsword and round shield with casual ease. Her lasso is coiled on her right hip.

She flies into the simulator, alighting near Kaldur and watching for an opening. Yep, the two parademons are down. And as more regroup, she braces herself in a classic Spartan ready stance: shield out front with the sword held high and pointed forward.

"Stay shoulder-to-shoulder with me, so we don't get flanked."
Aqualad Kaldur was taking hard breaths, lifting his swords up for another confrontation with his digital enemy. Then he hears the lovely voice of his girlfriend covering his flank, and he hers.

"Agreed, and thank you." affection in his voice as they are charged from all sides by the enemy, with Kaldur's waterbearers fusing together to create a battle mace. He smashes two of the parademons in front of him, the pair flying aside in an unconscious heap, with three of them dive bombing Cassie!
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie Sandsmark is proficient with the Amazonian arms, even though she's much more comfortable just punching things. Her speed and strength help as well, although she's been taught not to rely on them too much. Flashing Kaldur a grin, she watches the dive-bombing parademons and waits.

That was the hardest part for Cassie during her training, resisting the urge just to charge in without considering the consequences. But with Kaldur on her left, her job is to also cover his unshielded side. It's a good thing she doesn't have long to wait.

The parademons descend and Cassie is ready. A shield smash with a good part of her strength sends one spiralling away. She takes the second upon the point of her sword, spitting it juicily. Pivoting as she pulls the blade free, Cassie splits the face of the third open with edge of her shield and calls out loudly. "Yaaaah!"
Aqualad These parademons never quite stood a chance.

Kaldur fights off one more Parademons coming for Cassie's back, smashing it straight into the ground with a well-timed overhead swing of the hammer formed by his water bearers.

Though Cassie's enemies do not fare so well.

The one that was shield bashed is sent flying, spiraling into three other Parademons and all four are taken down. The second Parademons is rightly impaled and the third is split asunder!

It seems they nowface the last of the horde, who pause as if to strategize. With his free hand, Kaldur teases Cassie, squeezing her side before he's fully focused. "It seems they do feel fear."
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie Sandsmark's breathing has quickened, but it's more due to adrenaline than exertion. She flashes Kaldur a grin, nodding as she twirls the sword with a casual turn of the wrist. "Good. I can work with that." The parademon entrails slide off of the polished blade with the motion. She doesn't lower her shield, however.

"This next rush, you go low and I'll go high. They'll be expecting us to take them side-by-side again." Yes, that was one of her lessons on Themyscira: always keep your enemy guessing.
Aqualad Kaldur similarly turns to face their enemy. "As can I. Though They could be baiting us." Parademons we?re not nearly that smart, but they could at least form strategies on the fly. But...Cassie's plan is very useful and effective in this kind of situation, so Kaldur plays along.

"Sounds like a plan." and just as soon as Kaldur finishes his sentence, the Parademons attack! Kaldur immediately rushes forward, sliding beneath two lunging Parademons and slicing them to pieces with the waterbearers. The remaining two are still (perhaps suicidally) charging at Cassie!
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie Sandsmark waits again, watching as the parademons surge forward. As Kaldur rushes forward she flies up to hit the others high. The shield drives up under one parademon's chin, snapping its head back loudly. It flips backward a few times and stops moving.

The other parademon half-turns when she flies up, right in time for the blonde to drop on it. The point of her sword plunges down deeply into its collar bone, splitting it open as she lets out another cry. Only then does she look up to see how Kaldur is doing. She smiles. "Nice work!"
Aqualad C-c-c-combo!

Kaldur stands up straight and sheathes his waterbearers after it appears that all enemies are down!

Aqualad smiles at Wonder Girl's praise, and he approaches her. "I am uncertain I would've been able to do it alone." He walks up to her until they are quite close. "Every time I see you fight, I am surprised and impressed by your skill at every turn."
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie Sandsmark swings her shield back and forth, flicking the worst of the entrails from the bright metal as he approaches. Beaming at the praise, she manages to look a bit sheepish as well. "I'm still working on it, but thanks. Having the strength and the speed makes it more difficult for training, actually. I don't want to rely on my abilities all the time, but use them to boost my skills."

The sword gets a similar cleaning, the bright metal almost seeming to repel the parademon goo. "And you're pretty good yourself. Our styles are different, but I think the combination works well."
Aqualad Kaldur wipes off his hands and his armor from Parademon entrails that managed to splatter onto him. He looks up then. "Computer: End invasion simulation." and suddenly, the bodies of the enemies disappear, as does the hellscape environment....leading the only visible environment to have to be the Titans Tower Danger Room.

"Thank you. Like you, I intend to use my natural abilities to serve as enhancement to my skills, not the basis." Kaldur smiles warmly to her. "You look beautiful today, Cassie. How are you?" His free hand reaches for her own to hold it. "I hope you didn't eat all the pizza from the other day?"
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie Sandsmark laughs softly at that, glancing around as the room's appearance changes back. "I look like hell." she quips back. Supernaturals DO still sweat, after all, and those blonde locks stick to her forehead and neck. Looking down at her spattered armor, she adds. "And I need a shower."

When he reaches for her hand she sheaths the sword before accepting it. "I only ate my share of it. Gar ate a LOT more. And why do you ask?"
Aqualad "Yes, you do. It must be the eyes." Kaldur perhaps admitted that Cassie's beauty truly was her own soul, which could?ve seen through the 'windows' that were her eyes. She was always beautiful. "As do I...and I fear all the violence and activity has caused me to smell unpleasant."

A shrug follows before he takes a deep breath. "I see. I was hoping to share the last of it with you." Kaldur looks like he's about to ask something....and looks nervous about it.

"My timing might also be quite offbut...May I ask permission for something?"
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie Sandsmark's big, blue eyes remain fixed on his face while they talk, sweaty from battle or not. She's not self-conscious of her beauty, nor is she one to use it like a weapon. It's a part of her, no more and no less.

Cass tilts her head at his uncertainty, mouth twitching into a bit of a smile. Yeah, she knows he's uncomfortable. But she's learning patience. At the question, however, she pauses before nodding.

"Permission for something? Um, yeah. Go ahead."
Aqualad Not so much uncomfortable as it is the standard Atlantean formality that Kaldur'ahm has become accustomed too.

"Wonderful...I uh.." He blushes. "Curse my shyness. I would like to ask you for permission to kiss you." He'd much rather tellher of his intentions than to just suddenly lean in and hope for the best. In some ways, this approach was worse, but in many ways it was more respectful.
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie Sandsmark shrugs and adjusts the shield up to her shoulder while he's considering the question. "There's nothing wrong with being shy, Kaldur. But you shouldn't feel like you need to ask, either. If a girl doesn't want to be kissed, she'll let you know."

Cassie considers this for a moment, then clarifies. "And I don't mean by punching you, either. She'll hesitate, pull back, or turn away. Or something. But since you asked..."

She doesn't give him the opportunity as she steps up, giving his hand a light squeeze the moment before her lips press softly to his own.
Aqualad Kaldur seems to smile to Cassie as she hasn't shield-bashed him, kicked him in the sea shells, or punched him in the face. Though her reaction is a good thing! She doesn't seem turned or put off by his asking, and the fact that he no longer HAS to ask is a very good thing indeed.

Though suddenly distance is closed between them, and Kaldur experiences Cassie's warm lips pressed against his! His eyes briefly widen, before they slowly close shut. Powerful arms wrap around Cassie's waist to hold her closer, returning the gentle kiss with gentle kisses of his own.

Suddenly Kaldur is significantly less shy.
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie Sandsmark's kisses are soft and tender, almost nibbles as they kiss. In gore-streaked armor. In the middle of the Danger Room. Her weight shifts from one foot to the other as his arms wrap around her waist, and she presses her palm lightly against his cheek.

After a few minutes of the light exploration, Cassie does pull back a little and her eyelids flutter open. "I hope you weren't recording the training session." she offers, with a sheepish grin.
