Snake Eyes It's taken a little time but Snake Eyes has managed to track down an instructor he thinks might help him improve his proficiency at hand to hand combat. With some time off for himself he's opted to pay a visit to Richard Dragon, a man well known in the martial arts circles as one of the world's foremost instructors. Since he's not great at telephone calls, his inability to speak making them difficult, he's opted to show up and introduce himself and see what happens.

Rather than dress in his combat attire, the ninja commando wears a black sweatsuit and carries a duffel bag over his shoulder. On his face is the mask he wears when he needs to blend in with people, a very good synthetic likeness of his face before it was burned off. He approaches the dojo, checking out the building as he closes in on it, eyes flicking over it quickly. When he reaches the door he pulls back his fist and delivers a sharp knock before waiting patiently to see if it will be answered.
Richard Dragon Richard Dragon was indeed in the building. He was training against a wing chun dummy, practicing his lethally swift strikes with speed, but prioritizing his precision over that same speed. But then Richard hears that knock at the door, and Richard stops in his movements so perfectly it was as if time stopped. Richard then turns on his heel, clasps his hands behind his back, and approaches the door.

Snake Eyes would see that Richard was dressed in the traditional grandmasters attire for a Chinese martial artist. He looks the fellow in the eyes, and no judgement hangs in his eyes over the appearance of his guest.

"Greetings, how can I help you?"
Snake Eyes When the grandmaster arrives to meet him Snake Eyes looks back at Dragon's eyes, smiles and nods politely, then lifts his hand in a gesture that involves him gently tapping himself on the lips to sign that he's mute. That's followed by more signing, 'I am Snake.' Should they seem to comprehend what he's attempting to communicate he'll go on further. 'I have heard that master Dragon sometimes takes on new students and I would like to ask about what is involved in getting to train with him. I am having difficulty improving my skills on my own and seek improvement.'
Richard Dragon Dragon looks at Snake Eyes's sign language and realizes that he is either mute, or has taken a vow of silence. After his guest finishes his signing, Dragon looks at him and begins to sign himself. 'Then you have come to the right place. I am Richard Dragon, Grandmaster of the Martial Arts. If you seek to improve, you must improve both mind and body in order to achieve balance. But first, come inside, and display to me what you know.'

Richard then steps aside, to allow Snake Eyes in. This dojo appears to be very...japanese in its design. three sparring mats, a dragon fountain, and sliding doors fill in the general area. Though of course to the far right there is a neat kitchen and to the left is a small garden. Does Richard enjoy greenhouse development? Who knows.
Snake Eyes 'Nice to meet you,' Snake Eyes signs quickly before he removes his shoes and steps into the dojo. The ninja takes a look around, nodding his head in an approving sort of manner. Making sure it's out of the way he sets down his bag and bounces lightly on the balls of his feet. 'I will strive to be an attentive student and learn what you have to teach.'

'How would you like me to demonstrate my abilities, Grandmaster?' The ninja asks before he begins to stretch lightly, keeping himself limber before getting started with whatever his new instructor demands.
Richard Dragon Richard seems to smile lightly as Snake eyes expresses a desire to do his best in order to learn the Dragon's teachings. Richard then smiles, before he signs. 'Firstly, show me what you know. We will spar. Hit me, if you can.'

Then Richard puts his strong foot forward, and one hand up in a kind of upwards motion. He keeps a hand behind his back. Is he going easy on Snake Eyes? or is that just his fighting stance?

and how will Snake Eyes respond to this gesture? for that will also allow Richard some insight into his students state of mind.
Snake Eyes When his opponent takes a fighting stance Snake gets quite serious and assumes one of his own. He blades his body so that the left side leads, legs bent and spread enough to be in a fairly wide, sturdy stance.

After a moment of studying his opponent the trooper strikes. He's swift and efficient when he launches a kick towards Dragon's lead leg. The blow is designed more to land a short, sharp sort of tap, not wanting to hurt the man, just to show that Snake Eyes knows what he's doing.
Richard Dragon Richard seems to look serious himself, and when Snake Eyes rushes at him, Richard simply lifts his dominant leg upwards, allowing the kick to just sail underneath it, hitting nothing but air. In response, Richard attempts to kick Snake eyes right in his back. Richard may be old, but he doesn't hit like he is.

Would Snake Eyes counter? Or would he take the hit?
Snake Eyes Not one to take a hit if he can avoid it, Snake Eyes twists his body around in an attempt to avoid being kicked. As he narrowly gets clear the ninja launches himself back into the fight. His left hand snaps out in a back fist towards Richard's face, followed up almost immediately by a sharp side kick aimed at the midsection. Snake is fast, knows what he's doing and has great situational awareness in combat, but will he match up to this master of masters?
Richard Dragon Richard watches the counterattack with such fluidity as it comes for him. But like a snake himself, Dragon is seemless in his motions, like water. He uses the one hand he has out to bat away Snake Eyes's backfist strike, and he turns his body just so to allow the mid-section kick to just sail past him. Though now Dragon will swing his hand in a palm strike straight for Snake Eyes's chest to try and push him back!

Seems this man has extensive training already. He wonders if the cup is half empty, or half full. If so, it is hard to fill a cup that is already full, hard to fill a head of knowledge that is already overflowing. But, nevertheless, a small look of being impressed appears on Richard's face.
Snake Eyes It's a near thing, but Snake Eyes finds himself tagged by Dragon's strike and shoved backwards a few steps. Rather than lose his cool or become frustrated by what just happened the ninja actually cracks a smile. It's been some time since he had to work so hard for a win.

When he goes on the offensive again Snake leads with a jab towards the face, as much as a distraction as an attempt to strike. After retracting his left hand the commando brings up his knee to try to catch the instructor in the gut.
Richard Dragon After Richard manages to successfully strike Snake Eyes, The Grandmaster regains his stance, and he keps his eyes fully on Snake Eyes. Though as his opponent smiles, Richard doesn't make any kind of facial reaction, but he seems pleased that his student is enjoying themself. But here he comes!

Snake Eyes throws a jab and Richard motions to bat it away, but its a distraction! the knee coming up, Richard catches it with his left hand, and the Dragon smiles. "Thats enough." and he pushes Snake backwards, knowing full well the ninja won't be knocked over.

"You have proven that you have considerable skill already in the martial arts." he says with a look of being impressed on his face. "So then, let us begin." Richard brings a fist to his palm, and he gives a gentle bow as a Master would to a student. "Firstly, approach this combat dummy." he points to the wing chun dummy he was previously practicing on.
Snake Eyes Taking a few steps backwards Snake catches himself and nods his head a couple of times. When Richard bows to him Snake returns it, though his own bow has a hand on each hip in a more Japanese style.

When instructed to approach the dummy Snake Eyes does so, looking it up and down as he gets close to it. His head turns to face Dragon so that he can receive his next set of instructions.
Richard Dragon "Strike the dummy. You can be creative as you like. Be as slow or as fast as you like. But strike hard. Value precision and accuracy over all else." Richard stands a short distance to the side of Snake Eyes. What would he do?

Richard wouldn't interrupt. Though Snake would realize quick that each time he struck the dummy, the 'arms' section of the dummy would rotate. Thus hitting him possibly if he struck fast without thinking. the legs rotated too, giving a sense of place to the mind.
Snake Eyes Nodding, Snake looks the dummy over and prepares to start hitting it. Precision and accuracy seem to come almost naturally to the ninja.

As the arms and legs of the dummy swing at him Snake parries smoothly, striking and then blocking again over and over again.
