Blue Marvel The sun is setting on Brooklyn, turning it into a patchwork of darkness, shafts of sunlight and pools of twilight. It is still as humid as ever though. The evening crowd is out but business carries on. In a world of next day deliveries and just in time inventory, Red Hook seaport never sleeps.

The Mansk III is a well-worn 20+ year old container ship. She is brought into Red Hook by two tugs. A group of longshoremen sit idly by a grey Dodge pickup while a team of Asian men wait where Mansk III berths. When the ramp is put down, some of the go onboard. An orange gantry starts making its way to the ship.

There is the sound of engines roaring. Three black suburbans crash through the barricade arm at the port entrance and race along the concrete between rows of containers. They come to a screeching halt mid row near the Mansk III and heavily armed men in body armour pour out. Most have shaved heads, they're all Caucasian. A keen eye will see 'FoH' tattoos entwined with skulls and demons, blood and fire, on some. One pulls out a black box, pulls down on the trigger, and the Mansk III is rocked by three explosions. The sailors and Asian men yell, and the Asian men make for their own vehicles, pulling out weapons of their own.
Rose Wilson The armored orange and black RAVAGER is sitting on a blue dingy on the water, "Stop complaining, rescuing is heroic," she mutters to the heroic Superboy, "This is the fastest way up," he tells him quietly, as if in a whisper. After the explosion goes off on board, she rocks in the tiny little dingy, "Whoa," she says and grits her teeth.

"This will take two seconds---Batman can do it," Ravager explains, as if in competition with the stealthy hero. She sticks her hands to the side of the burning ship and climbs up to the railing, "Marked two," she says over the convenient comm. She brandishes a large knife and puts it in her teeth like a badass as she climbs over the railing.

The sailors and the merchant marines rush in different directions as the fire erupts over the ship, "Two more--wait three more--it's a zoo," she mutters as she ducks behind a metal cargo crate, "Following the map. We're on time---except for this fire...hmmm...." she states in a detectively way.
Conner "I am not complaining, it is just the cops..." Conner was complaining, yes. Keeping a bad guy from getting killed by worse guys was fine and all. Getting paid for it? Okay. Ish. Not telling the police (or hell, the Justice League) there was probably going to be a firefight? Not so okay.

Which turns extremely 'not okay' when the worse guys come guns blazing and make the ship explode. Conner swearing (he learned most of those words from Rose) comes loud and angry. "Get everyone out of that ship!" He adds, after a number of four-lettered words. He is coming down fast to stand between the attackers and the 'slightly less bad' guys in the dock. The impact on the ground, coming at almost super-sonic speed, and enhanced by tactile telekinesis, is both deafening and sends a shockwave on every direction.
Blue Marvel Up close, the Asian men are have snake tattoos along their arms with distinctive gold banding. Anyone who knows their groups will recognize them as the so-called 'Magic Triad'. They mainly deal in weapons and stolen technology, with rumoured connections to the Chinese government. Even quieter whispers speak of magic and other things.

Some of the rumours must be true. The Asian two of the Asian men on the concrete beside the Mansk III are hit by the shockwave, taken off their feet and flung against the side of the ship. They fall screaming between the ship and pier into the ocean. Red glows erupt from necklaces worn by three others on the wharf and the shockwave breaks around them. Bullets deflect off an invisible dome surrounding each as they continue to run for their vehicles. Two dive for cover behind a white 700 series BMW. The third skids to a stop, raises a hand and a jet of fire erupts towards Superboy.

The crew of the Mansk III are in a panic. Several officers are yelling for fire procedures, and a few of the men are listening. A few are injured on the main deck where it looks like the explosions came from three different containers, causing the neatly stacked load to slide. At least one man is pinned under a container, his leg disappearing below the knee under the side of a green Everline container.

Two of the Asian men are on the ship. One raises a Glock and starts squeezing off rounds towards Ravager. The other seems to be concentrating, glowering at Ravager and making hand movements. His necklace starts glowing red.

The Friends of Humanity men are mostly covered by the walls of containers they were using for cover. A couple are knocked down by the blast and pulled in behind cover by their friends. Two poke around opposite sides of a container and squeeze of grenades toward Superboy from undersling launchers on their assault rifles. Others start shooting toward Superboy from cover behind the container walls, containers stacked five or more high.

Superhero nerds might recognize the dark skinned man in blue cargoes and boots, a tight blue and white longsleeve top with gloves and matching jacket over top. He looks like he did in iconic pictures from the 60's, the Blue Marvel. Otherwise, he's some random guy. Who drops in from the sky, catches the two Asian gangsters headed for the ocean and lobs them back onto the wharf where they land with a heavy thud and roll around in pain. Adam flies back up and lands on the wharf between them. He raises a hand and blast of... non-light... shoots out and the BMW the two magical Asian men were runing for is hit and vapourizes.
Rose Wilson Rose Wilson is safely under cover near the deck stairs and sighs frustratedly as a World War III erupts during her stealthy mega-mission, "Figures," she notes, as everyone stars taking pot shots as Superboy. As the Blue Genie vaporizes some of the thugs, Rose smiles approvingly and tilts her head around the container in front of her, as if making an effort to see who is there. She takes a few steps and grabs for one of the gunman, flipping him backwards over the railing using some fancy Kar-aah-tee, the ancient art of kicking ass.

She eyes the two others as they turn to look at her from their hiding position, "You better run the other f***** way, boys," she suggests to them, but she's already in arm's reach. For some reason, she's letting them live and respond to her, maybe because she thinks Conner the Heroic is watching her. In her orange and black badass armor outfit, nobody can see her smirk.
Conner Conner can totally see Rose smirk despite not being watching her ('Cause, well, she is always smirking). But unfortunately he has never heard of the 'Magic Triad'. He has heard of the FoH (they are jerks) because he has a couple mutant friends.

So he is paying too much attention to the white guys, whose grenades can do very little against his half-kryptonian invulnerability besides staggering him briefly. And not enough attention to the guy throwing flames at his back. "Agh, damnit!" Contrarily to most Kryptonians, he has a telekinetic forcefield that can shield against magic. But it never works great against fire. So Conner got burned, and yet another leather jacket got burned (the third since spring began).

Then some random guy in blue drops by and vaporizes a BMW. No, Conner does not know the superheroes of the 60s. It is difficult enough to keep track of the modern ones. "Rosie, the guys you are supposed to help just tried to fry me, and they did a good job," he grumbles through the comsys. "Let me know if you need help, we got more company, and I need to find out what happened."

So that guy with the flaming hand, or hidden flamethrower, is his target. He flies at high speed toward him and attempts to grab him and take him up twenty or thirty yards. "What did you do with that fire thing? I came here to keep you guys alive, you idiot."
Blue Marvel The longshoremen have piled into their pickup truck or run for cover behind stacks of containers by this point. A Red Hook ports SUV comes to a screeching halt when fire shoots from a man's hand at Conner. The driver wisely slams it into reverse and roars back toward the longshoreman hall.

The man Rose grabs has no chance at all and goes spinning over the railing toward the ocean fifty feet below. The two men that were focused on her do not seem to be listening, do not have much regard for the threat women can pose or all of the above. The first starts unloading his pistol toward her. The second finishes his hand work and shoots a blast of fire in her direction.

The Mansk III's crew are variously taking cover, fighting fires or trying in vain to help their shipmate who is stuck under a container. Someone is shouting in Tagalog from the bridge's balcony some four stories over Rosie's head. Probably the captain, from the tone. He seems to expect someone is listening to him.

The FoH men are not deterred by their seeming ineffectiveness. A three-man fire team advances one row of containers toward Conner, supporting each other. On the other side of their initial row, a four-man fire team advances toward the white BMW. When the BMW disappears in a strange flash of non-light, they all drop to one knee and start to peel off toward cover, laying down a curtain of fire at the two Asian men who were running toward the BMW. They come to a startled stop when their car disappeared. One of them lets out a yell of pure frustration. Bullets from the FoH bounce of his shield, but the glow on his necklace is getting weaker fast. The other Asian man near him covers his face instinctively at the flash of the BMW vapourizing. Bullets bounce of his magical shield, followed by a grenade. His shield collapses and his body jerks as the FoH men put half a dozen rounds in his center mass.

Two more FoH men peek around from behind one of their SUVs and start shooting toward Adam. Their bullets disappear in flashes of light just before they hit him.

The man who tossed flames at Conner starts off yelling defiantly until he realizes he is being dragged /into the air/. He starts yelling at Conner in rapid-fire Mandarin, cluthing at his arm and looking down.

There is a series of yells from the Mansk III. The ship shudders and the decking under the containers gives way. It collapses inward and the main deck folds in with it. The stacked containers tilt inwards and fall into each other.

Adam looks around, then turns toward the ship. He blurs a bit as he flies and lands on the main deck. He looks toward Rose, noticing her for the first time and raises an eyebrow, as if to ask if she's got it. Then Adam starts pushing containers out of the way. He blurs a few times as he ferries trapped and injured crew from between or under containers up to the bridge's balcony to get them out of harms way. No sooner does he finish though than the captain is yelling at him in Tagalog, pointing to the main deck and to shore. He gets out something about fuel and fire.

"Get off the ship!" Adam yells down from the bridge to Rose.
Rose Wilson As the thugs retaliate against her, Ravager takes action and grabs the gun as the nearest thug turns it on her. She turns the gun up as it rattles off bullets, and it fires into the air instead of her nice clear skin. She grabs his arm with her other hand and turns herself into him, using the leverage to pull the thug into the fire. He erupts in flames and she plants her heel into his stomach, shoving the asshole into the other asshole so they both become a fireball. She motions to the railing, where they run to jump in.
Conner Conner was trying to hold a conversation up here, see? (Looks like the fire-handed man doesn't speak English) And then FoH thugs had to kill one of the Asian goons.

His eyes narrow, and he rips the glowing medallion from the Triad member neck, tossing it to the sea. Then drops the thug himself after flying down low enough he won't get hurt. A second later he is among the FoH members still shooting, punching faces with bone-breaking force and trying to take those automatic weapons from their hands.
Blue Marvel The burning men are only too eager to follow Ravager's suggestion. Judging by their form as they went over the edge, they probably did not survive the impact with the water.

Conner's Triad man screams until he hits the concrete, hard, and writhes slowly in crippling pain with the two others than Conner had knocked into the side of the Mansk III earlier.

When Conner drops in among the FoH it's a slow motion parody of a ballet. He steps between and among them, snapping heads sideways and breaking cheekbones and noses while also ripping assault rifles out of hands and sending the guns flying. At least two of the guns go flying with index fingers still in the trigger guards. The FoH men in the first group have no idea what is happening before they're on the ground. The second start to react to Conner, but are caught mid-turn. And the final two, showing some modicum of sensibility, were trying to make for their SUV when Conner lays them out.

Adam grabs crew members two at a time and flies them off the ship. It's almost comedic. People just seem to disappear off the bridge balcony until there is nobody left. He reappears standing on the deck near Rose, in her field of view when she looks back over from watching her friends hit the water.

"We should go," he says tersely. "Do you want a lift to your friend?"

The ship shudders again and the smoke coming from the containers gets noticeably thicker and blacker.
Rose Wilson Ravager mutters, "Sorry Conner, was busy," she notes. She then looks up into the sky as two men fly over her and off the ship, as if that image is interesting. She frowns and gives the two of them the Eye, "No God dammit, we're here to extract Jeff Yelson. Maybe if you guys could keep the damn thing from sinking, I could check below," she tells them, "They're holding him," she tells them. She walks back to the deck stairs, where the smoke is thicking, obviously. "Hopefully he's not f***** dead or they're gonna want someone else f****** dead."
Conner "You okay? Need help?" Asks Conner through the com. "I got the FoH rats on the run. But well..." he concentrates, putting a few holes on the wheels of the SUV with his heat vision. "They are not going to outrun the police today."

Not that Rose is interested in what the cops would do.

The magician bunch is next. And that is not as easy, as the forcefields are good to keep him away. But look, he has leverage: those flashy cars they brought to the docks? They can be used as clubs to break the forcefields. Also as shields against more magic fire.
Blue Marvel The remaining, standing Triad member on the wharf was first stunned as the FoH men seemed to fall down screaming of their own accord. Then he sees Conner coming with a car. He summons his stream of fire, but it breaks around the car, which overwhelms his shield. His necklaces flares and goes out, then the car carries through and sends him flying 30 feet backward. He hits the concrete of the wharf and log rolls to a stop. He is not going anywhere, except possibly to a very good plastic surgeon.

"There's someone else?" Adam asks Rose rhetorically. He follows her down the stairs and onto the slanted main deck. The air shimmers around them and Adam becomes harder to see clearly. The smoke parts around them as if they were walking through it in a bubble. The deck is slanted down a good 20 feet, and the section Rose is walking on caved right into a hallway. There are a number of doors, it looks like this area was used for stores. There is nothing inside the rooms of interest if they are checked. Up ahead, the main deck has caved down to this level from the opposite side. A red container is lying on its side. Through a gash in the side of it, a man can be seen. He is unconscious, bound and gagged to a chair that in turn must have been bolted to the floor of the container since it is still in place even though the container's floor is now a wall.

In the distance, sirens can be heard. Two Harbour Police boats are moving at high speed toward this end of Red Hook. A little further out a Coast Guard helicopter is making its way over ahead of a Coast Guard cutter.
Rose Wilson Ravager knows where to go because she planned it out before World War III. She steps around the rubble, enters the appropriate room, just as the water begins to rush in. She rushes over to Yelson, as she spots him on the floor, then she kneels down and checks on him, "He's unconscious, but he's breathing. Perfect," she mutters sarcastically. She grabs him and hauls him up, "I think they sank my dingy," she reports sadly, "I guess we'll have to fly out of here," she suggests.
Conner In the docks Conner makes sure the thugs and goons are mostly incapacitated, or at least not interested in killing each other anymore. One flying way out coming in," he tells Rose through the coms. As soon as she is in the open he picks her up. "Do you know who is the guy in Blue?" He asks, as she hauls her and the rescued man to safety.
