Blue Marvel Pelham 76 passes through the Bronx on elevated track during the afternoon commute. The train is full as always and glides quickly over the traffic below. As the train approaches turn 21, the controller, a middle-aged career Subway man, gasps and clutches his chest. He is in excruciating pain and loses awareness of where he is, and that he needs to slow down for the turn. The train races ahead into the curve and jumps the track. Metal screeches as the lead car scrapes against the concrete edge of the elevated track. The train begins to lean, slowly at first, and then tip as the bulk of the train passes the apex of the curve.

Blue Marvel is relishing his return to hero work and flying over the Bronx when he sees Pelham 76 jump the rails. He flies down from above at almost supersonic speed and puts his hands against the middle of the currently tipping cars. He pushes back against it, keeping the train upright as it grinds to a halt on the track. He sees the lead car has its front wheels over the edge of the concrete, so he flies over and carefully lifts it back up onto the rails.
%Blue Marvel checks for serious injuries and brings one teenage boy down to the ground with a fairly serious head injury. Emergency services arrive and take the teenager, then congregate. Blue Marvel is speaking with the fire deparment and transit authority about the best way to bring the people out of the train.
Hal Jordan The emerald streak coming closer is as far from covert as you can get. As it gets closer, the outline of a man can be seen, the outline of none other than Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of Earth. Staying back in the background as he witnesses the event in front of him, and waits for the man to finish speaking with the Fire and Transit Departments before moving close enough.

"Ahem." Green Lantern clears his throat. "I can help as well, whatever you need." He nods to those in charge of the situation with a determined nod, and then looks over at Blue Marvel. "That was some fine work there. I am impressed." He hovers closer, and offers his hand. "I know we are on the clock to help those people, but I'm Green Lantern. Pleasure to meet you."
Blue Marvel Blue Marvel, dressed in a blue uniform with short jacket, and faint hints of grey in his hair, looks up with everyone else as the Green Lantern arrives. They make room for him as he approaches.

"Thank you, Blue Marvel," Blue Marvel introduces himself with a bit of a smile and shake of his head. "Pleasure's mine."

The incident commander from the fire department explains what they have, which is mainly the issue of getting people and the trains down.

"Can you make... Stairs, or a ladder or something?" the incident commander asks the Green Lantern. Everyone looks to the Green Lantern for his answer.

"I can bring the train cars back to the yard when they're empty, and help anyone down that can't move on their own."
Hal Jordan "Outstanding work." Green Lantern looks around, and nods absently as though taking everything in. "Sure," he replies after a moment, "Stairs. Escalator. Whatever you need." After a brief second, and a flash of willpower, anything that was needed becomes reality. Including an emerald green escalator.

"That should get everyone where they need to go quickly. There and back" Another appears, a return trip escalator. He looks over at Blue Marvel. "Nice work there."
Blue Marvel The elevator appears and the emergency crews get to work. They are up the elevator in no time and soon people are being guide to the elevator and to the ground.

"Thank you, I'm glad I was nearby. You know how timing is with these things," he says. The accent suggests Chicago.

"That's impressive," Blue Marvel says, gesturing to the elevator. "Something to see up close, and makes all the difference. I didn't like the idea of carrying those train cars down with people in them."
Hal Jordan     Green Lantern helps out where needed, and uses his will to create anything the team needs. After working together for a time, Green Lantern takes a deep breath. "Thanks! Yeah, all in a days work. I'm lucky I have a ring that allows me to do that!"

When all was said and done, Hal floats down to land beside Blue Marvel and crosses his arms. Looking at the emergency workers doing their jobs, Green Lantern hmmms. "You know. I was watching you as I was getting here as fast as I could. I was also watching you as we did what we needed to to help those people." Hal nods towards the work being done. "Great work. We could use your abilities in the Justice League, if interested."

Hal holds up a hand to forestall a comment, and adds, "Now, normally I'm a good judge of character, and it appears that your altruism here was genuine, so. I think you'd make a good fit."
Blue Marvel "Justice League?" Blue Marvel starts, surprised and then stops when Hal goes to carry on.

"Wouldn't that be something. I was doing this before Superman born," he muses, looking faintly amused. "Strange to think of doing it with all of you. I'd be honoured. Can't imagine a bigger honour for one of us."
Hal Jordan Hal replies with a large smile. "There you go. We usually have our meetings on Monday night." Green Lantern nods to several waves of thanks from the workers. "Here...let me see." Using his ring to bring over some paper and a pen from a nearby EHS vehincle, Hal jots down directions...and an access code. "Okay this will only work once, for the next few hours, but I believe we are having a meeting tonight to celebrate Superman's rescue."

Green Lantern says, "Long story...anyway, this teleporter will get you there. You can let everyone know that I sent you, and I will log that in with the Watchtower's satellite as your sponsor - I can't make it, but I am sure they will be happy to see you."

Green Lantern pauses. "Of course this isn't a membership approval. Supes' the Chairman. But it will get your foot in the door. Be around for missions and such, do your time, and I know you will make a fine member."
Blue Marvel Blue Marvel accepts the paper from Green Lantern with a bemused half-smile.

"Thank you, I will be there, and won't disappoint."

Blue Marvel extends a hand to Green Lantern and then makes his way up to start clearing the track of rail cars.
Hal Jordan Green Lantern shakes the man's hand, and then starts to float above the ground. "Great team up Marvel! It was an honor. I am sure we will meet again, soon!" As Hal begins to turn, he looks back over his shoulder at the man. "I am sure you could never disappoint! We need more men like you on the team! Good luck, and pass on my regrets to the team! I'm heading to the Thanagarian System for some...fisticuffs!" With a chuckle, Hal salutes, and then is goone, an emeral streak disappearing into the distance!
