Lina Whitecroft Today finds Lina returning to the School to see if she can catch up with her new friends or, alternately, make even more of them. Dressed in a green shirt, a jean jacket and a pair of white pants, she ventures into the foyer cautiously. "Hello?" she calls out into the room as she steps inside. "Is anyone around?" Coming by to visit is one thing, but barging and wandering around aimlessly is another altogether.

As she closes the door behind her, she takes a look around the foyer without venturing beyond it. It's a very nice foyer and, from what she can see of the hallways beyond, the school does not at all resemble any high school she's ever seen. "Wow, snazzy," she murmurs to herself. Taking a few steps forward, she rests a hand on the banister of the staircase.
Lorna Dane Passing through the foyer with a tray of cookies in her arms, Lorna blinks, glancing at the stairs. The Genoshian royalty is a guest teacher at the school, obviously at home since she's walking through barefoot in leggings and a long flannel shirt with her hair up in a ponytail. "Oh. Let me set this down." She murmurs and moves to the rec room door before the tray drifts into the room and she glances in and then back to the girl. A quick check to make sure that nothing knocks into the tray she wanders back over, dusting off her hands. "Now then, can I help you?"
Lina Whitecroft Lina turns upon hearing Lorna's voice and smiles. "Oh, hello. Sorry to intrude, but I came by to visit. Ororo and Jono introduced me to the school yesterday and were so very nice to me. I couldn't resist coming back to see if they were around, or..." She gives a faint shrug. "It's a very nice school. It feels so... warm. Not, like, temperature or anything. Like the people. Friendly and they don't judge. Even when you're, well, different." She says the last word a little more quietly. Reaching out with her hand, she adds "I'm Lina Whitecroft, it's nice to meet you."
Lorna Dane "Different is what we do. I'm Polaris." The green haired woman offers and extends a hand to shake hers briskly. "Jono...ah, one of the students, has an odd blade. No, that's the other one I think." She murmurs and shakes her head lightly. "Well, were you considering enrolling, you'll need parental consent in most cases." she says, shifting into teacher mode a little.
Lina Whitecroft tLina tilts her head a little at the question. "Oh, I dunno about any of that. Ororo mentioned something about it, but... well... it's summer anyways. I know a few of the kids are taking summer classes and some, like Jono, just live here. Kind of like a boarding school. It's, um, something worth thinking about. I kind of have this bad habit of not keeping a lid on my 'gifts' as well as I should." She uses air quotes around the word gifts. "I didn't even realize I was doing anything while I was just sitting in the park until everyone else, I mean Logan and Ororo that is, sort of noticed."

Lina looks around again, asking "So, not trying to be rude or anything, but..." She gestures vageuly at the other woman's hair. "Is that, like, a thing? Ororo's is white. Yours is green. Is that common among, um, mutants?" She kind of hesitates on the last word.
Lorna Dane "Common? Umm, I mean, there really isn't-common doesn't come up often with our people. I guess it is and it isn't. Sometimes hair color changes, in my case I was born green haired. My mutations manifested much earlier than puberty, which is generally when we see things like powers develop." Lorna says, her tone hinting that this question comes up alot. "Control will come with time and training. Like any other skill-walking, talking, cooking, riding a bike, you have to train your body to it. You could always make sound, but you had to learn words. Does that make sense?" She asks, smiling a little crookedly.
Lina Whitecroft Lina nods in understanding at what Lorna says. "Yes, I completely get what you mean. I don't think I've always been able to do...things. It happened later. I was always a singer, but suddenly my voice can do... more than normal." She looks around once again, adding "It's kind of frustrating really. I'm not sure what I'm doing half the time. I have to really focus and it's a pain. And no oen can find out, because, God it would be bad. I mean, it might not be. But I really can't take that kind of a risk, y'know."

Shrugging once more, Lina asks "So, like, I know the kids here are students. Are all the adults teachers? Do they live here, too? Is this like an all-inclusive resort kinda package deal?" Yes, lots of questions.
Lorna Dane "The students and teachers live here, yes. Some go home for the summer, and you don't have to out yourself as a mutant before you're ready. I colored my hair for a long time to blend in as a child. However, it's my choice now to be "out" and by my father's side." Lorna explains and nods to Lina. "You will learn to master your abilities, it's just a matter of time. In fact, I believe we have a student who has a mutation regarding his voice, he goes by Banshee occasionally."
Lina Whitecroft Lina perks up with interest at the mention of another mutant with vocal abilities. "Really? Oh, neat. I wonder if I can meet him someday. And yeah, I'm not ready for anyone to know yet. Besides Felix." Looking around again, she continues, "I mean, so, does everyone know this school is for mutants? Or is it like an undercover school? Hypothetically speaking, let's say someone wanted to maybe transfer. So their parents wouldn't need to know exactly /how/ they were gifted and can be told that their kid got a scholarship or Something." Smiling faintly, she adds "Just food for thought, y'know, for me. I wonder these things sometimes."
Lorna Dane "Well, like it says on the gates. It is a school for "Gifted Youngsters.". More or less really, we're a prep school that caters to mutants on the down low." Lorna shrugs. "Our assistant Dean Ms. Grey is the one to work all that out. I could let her know if you're considering the school." She tells Lina and nods to the building. "Don't let all this intimidate you, it does come to feel like a second home if you let it."
Lina Whitecroft Lina nods and smiles. "Yeah, it might be nice. I mean, like... I don't know how it would work. Or if it would work. Or whatever. But it's just a thought. I'm really struggling with keeping things under wraps and, to be honest, I'm a bit scared that one of these days someone else is going to notice and it's going to go south."

Shrugging, Lina toys with a lock of her hair. "So it's definitely something I'm considering. But even if I don't, Jono is super cool and Ororo was very nice to me. So maybe I can just hang out and stuff. At least over the summer when I'm not at band practice. I'm off this weekend, yesterday was my birthday."
Lorna Dane "Well, happy birthday. I was going to get prepared to make some ice cream sandwich kabobs in the rec room. The building is oddly quiet, makes me wonder that the students are getting up to. It was always quiet when we were hatching plans when I was a student here." Lorna jokes and looks from Lina to the stairs. "Upstairs is all living quarters. Come on down, I'm sure a mutant guest is fine in the rec room." She adds and tilts her head to the hallway.
Lina Whitecroft "Thank you!" Lina says in reference to the birthday well wishes. She smiles warmly at Lorna and nods. "Okay, consider me sold. Ice cream sounds really good right about now." Looking around, she adds "Yeah I'm not sure where everyone is. Yesterday Jono and I explored a bit and there seemed to be more people around. Maybe they're upstairs or out back? Only thing I can think of." She moves to follow the woman to the rec room.
