April O'Neil April had been out late last night with a friend trying to get some evidence of gang activity in a nearby subway station, it had turned into she and her friend getting attacked by vampires!

They'd escaped, with the help of a supposed 'secret agent' that aided them in killing the Vampires... It was the most violent and 'killy' thing April had ever done to ensure her own safety. She stabbed a guy, with a sword!

Sadly, all the footage she'd taken had been erased too. Having blamed it on her phone, she'd gotten up early today to go get a new one and toss the old one into the trash (little does she know her phone was hacked and the footage was manually erased). So with her new phone in hand now, Tommy is the first person who gets test-texted.

April invites her younger cousin to lunch here at the Pizza place not far from her home in Brooklyn. She'd texted him to see if he was in town and if he'd like to come have food and catch up!

So as of now, April is seated in a booth here in the pizzeria, her yellow hoodie is draped over the back of the booth and she has one leg up as she's leaning back in the corner, holding a cup of lemonade and sipping from its straw while staring at her new phone.
Vorpal Tommy, fortunately, is always in town. This is thanks to being able to carry his own dimensional portal wherever he goes- never leave home without it, kids!

Figuring that his cousin would appreciate being free of people staring at her, the Cheshire cat walks through the door looking like he did when he was a human- red-headed young man with an athletic build, clad in jeans and a T-shirt.

Of course, this was all smoke and mirrors, a glamour cast over his regular feline appearance. He blended in perfectly , and it was nice to be back in Brooklyn. He grew up here, after all, before his parents made it big in media.

"Yo, Ape!" Tommy says, sliding onto his booth seat with a wide grin. "Long time no see!"
April O'Neil April is one of the least judgmental people around. She dated a green skinned cop that size of a linebacker who had a giant fin on his head! But... Tommy probably doesn't know that...

When he enters the pizzeria and speaks out is when she sets her phone down and makes sure its off, she's learned in her line of work that being distracted by your phone during interviews/conversations is a terrible thing to do. Its rude and offensive to the people you're with, especially a family member who you actually enjoy the company of.

When Tommy slides into the booth she grins at him and puts her other foot down onto the floor. "Hey." She says with a big grin. "You're looking chipper today." She idly observes. "You ready for some'a Angelo's finest?" Angelo actually passed away in the early 2ks, but the place is owned by his sons now who've kept up the tradition and its still a great place to eat.

She signals the waiter to come over now with a little wave then looks back to Tommy. "How the heck are you? Its been forever!"
Vorpal "Oh yes, hit me with the works, I'm starving! I just got done doing patrol in Gotham- that place builds an appetite. So many rooftops to jump." Tommy leans back and lets out a sigh, relaxing a bit.

"Just got back from Europe. Mom and dad thought the family needed quality time, so we did the whole Griswolds European Vacation thing. Sis is as irritating as always. I brought you a present, though!"

A small rabbit hole opens. It's small enough that it won't be noticed as he darts his hand in and out, retrieving something that he deposits on the table.

It's a porcelain box in the form of a turtle. "I saw it and I thought of you. It's from Limoges. They're big into porcelain. You can put stuff in it, too!"

He rests an elbow on the table and props his cheek on his hand. "I'm okay, I guess. Stilll with the Titans. Sorta dating someone. Has green skin and an adorable smile, but I don't think he's really into me... how about you? What have you been up to?"
April O'Neil The waiter takes down both of their orders and then steps away to go and prepare them. April is then grinning to Tommy as he talks of the European Vacation reenactment. "Oh god. I haven't seen that movie since I was little. I remember thinking the sister in it was weird as hell... then I found out she died like a week after it was done filming, awkward feels."

When the present is retrieved and displayed, April sits up higher in her booth seat and then reaches out for it. "Tuuuurtle!" She says in an adorably affectionate voice. "I looove him." She wraps her hands around it and draws it toward her. She gives a little test to the lid where the items can be stored and it makes her melt even more. "He's gonna go on my desk in the studio." Her podcast studio, presumably!

She looks up to Tommy then and smiles widely at him. "Thank you, this is amazing.. I'm gonna name him Griswald, I think." A little grin is flashed before she tilts her head. "Not sure he's into you? God, see? Thats why I'm done dating. Doooone. Sick've it. Its all work, all the time for me, here on out!" She's probably being over dramatic... a bit.
Vorpal "I don't blame ya. I mean, I'm gone for a month, right? And I come back, and you'd think he'd be all excited to see me. But nooo." He sighs, and looks out the window. "It sucks 'cause I'm super into him. And, well, you'd think Beast Boy of all people would be able to *get* me. But maybe nobody can? I dunno."

He looks back at his cousin, "So, are you getting into trouble? Last time we chatted you were getting into trouble, and you're family, so I assume that's your default state. It's our thing."
April O'Neil April takes a sip of the lemonade and continues to toy with the little turtle gift he'd given her while she listens to him. The name he says of the green skinned one makes her show a sly grin. "His name is Beast Boy?" She asks. "What does he do? Guitarist for a grunge metal band? Not that there's anything wrong with that, god knows I'd probably date someone who was as-such." Her track record with men was pretty spotty, Casey Jones to a mutant Cop and a few other weirdos here there along the way too.

The other question he asks of her just makes her flash a smile and she glances down and then shrugs her shoulders inside of that pale pink teeshirt she's wearing with a picture of 'Goodbye Kitty' on the front, a take on Hello Kitty, except the cartoon feline is in camo and is dual wielding machine guns while screaming.

"Some trouble!" She says, looking back up at him. "My podcast has kept me busy, but every now and then I get a lead that I just have to check into. Like... last night." She glances to her left to make sure nobody is nearby then looks to Tommy again. "Vampires! Last night... scary, as, eff."
Vorpal "Oh man, Vampires are the worst!" Tommy shakes his head, "If they're not trying to seduce you, they're trying to drink your blood. They suck. But since you're out here in the sunlight, it's safe to assume that you managed to get out of that without becoming one of the Fashionably Undead."

He holds out a hand and a miniature version of Beast Boy appears in the palm of his head. "Beast Boy. You know, the Titan? Also movie and television star. You probably know him as Garfield Logan." Gar's identity was public, because you couldn't hide when your skin was green.

"You know, you really should bring me along some of these adventures of yours. They sound like a heck lottta fun."
April O'Neil April just exhales in a sound of disgust at the rundown of Vampires from Tommy, she knows all too well that he's right but she doesn't like to hear that the legends and 'cliches' about them are as true as the sky is blue.

"Yeah, they certainly tried. Yelling stuff like 'new recruits' and other deplorable attempts at belittling us." She raises her cup up and sips from the straw again, but pauses first. "Before I ran a sword through one'a their chests and this big handsome special agent knocked the bloodsucker into the subway tracks where he hit the live line and just... blew up. Gnarly, that."

"I had my friend Vanessa with me, she's total street badass. Had a gun on her and everything. You'd love her. She's tough as nails." April flashes a grin before her eyes regard the displayed form of Beast Boy. Seeing that, hearing his real name and now she's nodding. "Oh yeah, okay. I remember him now. He's come up a few times on the podcast when the Titans get mentioned. How are they by the way? They're a bit out of my jurisdiction, so to speak..."
Vorpal "Oh, they'r'e doing well. Got new recruits and whatnot. We just got a social media intern- Teenage Negasonic Warhead. She's a blast- literally." He chuckles, and raises an eyebrow. "Handsome special agent? Do telll. Does this handsome special agent have handsome special agent friends?" he jokes and leans in. "So where's your friend Vanessa from? Where'd you run into her? She sounds like she's accustomed to weird things happening."
April O'Neil When their food arrives, its delivered on a wooden slab, individual plates for each of them on top of it. April is reaching for hers while she listens to the Titan news and the funny name makes her crack a 'face' of amusement at it. "Teenage Nega, sonic? What?" She releases a light laugh. "Thats the best name I've ever heard for a heroic type." Tommy would likely know that April's been jealous her whole life, since she was a little girl, about not having any super powers. She used to tell her parents that she was gonna 'fly someday' and even broke her arm jumping off a hay stack in the barn on the farm in Massachusetts, trying to prove to a bunch of the other kids that she could fly.

Needless to say, April's a 'normy' and never attained any super powered abilities.

She grins at the handsome agent questions and shakes her head forlornly. "We had to split up to avoid the cops before I could get much information out of him. I'm afraid he's one 'who got away'." She says with a sigh.

At the topic of Vanessa, April looks up to Vorpal and she grins for a moment before looking back to her food. "Vannea's from here, Brooklyn also. Well, near here anyway. And.... she's a... pros-ti-tute." She drags that word out because of the nature of it being a bit of a bombshell.

With a grin, she looks back up to Tommy. "I met her and some of her friends at a diner near here, Lou's, down the street. I was out at like 3am working on a story and they were getting pushed around by the wait-staff, so I sat with them to push back. Been hangin' out ever since then."
Vorpal "She sounds like dynamite. We should hang out sometime. Out for pizza or for trouble, I'm game either way. You know that if you want to come on one of my patrols, all ya gotta do is ask." He leans back and begins to devour his food with gusto.

"I'm ready to branch out, doing stuff aside from the Titans into areas I haven't covered. We could do investigations together, y'know. We live in the same city, we really should do stuff more often."

He pauses for a moment, and then grins, "Or we could go to a concert somewhere. Dazzler does stuff in the summer still? I mean, that should be total wholesome fun. What could go wrong?" Dun dun duuun.
April O'Neil April grins softly after taking another sip of her drink. "I would absolutely be down for that. I'll make sure to text you next time we're headed out somewhere. Things have been a little back and forth lately, sometimes busy sometimes just... work work, and nothing else. I'm more than happy to come see what it is you do, and meet your crew. I... recently did an interview in Gotham's Arkham Asylum."

She clears her throat then. "Interviewed Harley Quinn, had a remote podcast out of the asylum itself. It went... fairly well! All things considered. I think I made one of the Bat-family absolutely hate me... But... Harley?"

April regards Tommy then for a moment. "She broke out of the Asylum shortly there-after and ended up... in, my, apartment. Deciding that we were now best friends. She even brought us some custom coffee mugs, with hand drawn pictures of both of our faces on them. I mean, it was adorable in a sort've 'I'm a crazy person and I'm probably gonna kill you' way."
Vorpal "Oh, Doctor Quinn? April, you get the best. Seriously. I'm a big fan of hers. Outside of the whole potentially homicidal tendencies, I think I'd get along just great with her!" he says, between bites. The Chaos Cat, of course, would find Harley to be a fascinating creature. "She's fiercely intelligent. That's something people underestimate a lot because of the clown facade and her propensity to be murderously adorable. Robin told me all about her. I do seriously want to meet her, sometime."
April O'Neil This response doesn't entirely surprise her, she knows Tommy/Vorpal has a thing for the eccentric after all. She does grin lightly and shake her head though. "I'll try... to contact her, I've no real idea how to do that though. But if I can get you a shot at meeting her, I'd be curious how that goes."

"Part of me feels really bad for her though, because something is definitely broken." She pauses then for a short spell. "She did this thing, with her coffee... She found a bottle of hot sauce that my friend Mikey left in the kitchen pantry. She started to pour it into her coffee, then sip, then pour... adding so much of it that I think she was about to melt from the inside out. She was pouring sweat down her face and I could see the pain in her eyes. But she just kept smiling."

April exhales softly then and shakes her head again. "I don't know... I tried a drop of that stuff once and I felt like I'd fallen into a valcano. It was, odd, is all. Amongst, you know, breaking into my house to greet me before I got home. That too." She flashes a faint grin then.
Vorpal "Mikey. That's the..." Tommy pauses, and looks around. "Right. Anyways... yeah, she's broken. There's all sorts of legends about what the Joker did to her, but Robin said he simply just... got inside her head. Once you let someone like the Joker in... I don't know if you can make it out. I've only run into him once, but I have to wonder if that madness inside of him isn't altogether from this world...." he trails off, finishing his plate and dabbing his lips with the paper napkin. "Maybe there's something of Wonderland in him. The part that nobody talks about. Or maybe he really is the most insane creature on earth, to the point that he has become Unsane and everyone who comes into close contact with him ends up twistted...." he sighs and shrugs. "Who knows?"
April O'Neil April is glancing down at her own meal as she listens to her cousin's words and she nods softly to them. She's quick to tack on. "I don't know... you know I asked her if I could meet him sometime, and she seemed a little unsure of that being a good idea. Which was all around kind of intriguing. It was like she was concerned that if I met him, I wouldn't be safe?" She glances up to him across the table. "Like she was really worried about my well being. Anyway... I don't know. She was, is, fascinating. One of the more interesting peoplve I've met this year, and I had _Thor_ ond the podcast."

April shows another grin then to Tommy. "So its been a pretty wild year so far and yeah, Mikey is... a close relative to Griswald." She shows another faint grin then and there. "Really loves his hot sauces too."
Vorpal "What's so interesting about Thor? He's a big guy with a hammer and does thunder. That's pretty straightforward. Harley's waaaaay more interesting." He grins, and raises his eyebrows. "Mikey, hmm? Is he cute? I should meet him sometime." He jokes, and then reaches for his soft drink.

"Hey, maybe someday I'll make my name in the superhero world and I'll be famous enough for you to have me on your podcast and people will know who the heck I am! Wouldn't that be something?"

He takes a long sip of his soda. "Unfortunately I seem to be spinning my wheels with the whole people knowing who I am thing. Someone suggested the whole cat thing put people off... but Tigra gets a ton of public awareness. Then again... she walks around in a bikini. I don't think I could get away with THAT," he chuckles.
April O'Neil April laughs at that last part and shakes her head. "I don't think I could get away with that either. Not in a satisfactory way at least." She shows him a grin then. "You'd like Mikey, he's pretty muscley too." She shows a faint smirk then before she raises her drink up for another sip.

"I don't think the 'cat thing' is off-putting, as much as it is just surprising to many still. Lotsa people in this world still don't do well with physically different individuals. I met a... drunken martial artist who was a half man, half snow leopard. He was a real charming fella too, but he had to hide in alleways and keep outta public sight most've the time. He seemed to like it that way though, so I don't know."

"And I actually have no doubt that you'll be a big time super heroic name in no time. With what you're capable of? I mean, that kinda stuff is impressive any way you shake a stick at it. Here I am, still ridin' a bike two and from work and you're with the -Titans- for god's sake."
Vorpal "Ooh, now you are just teasing, girl." Tommy laughs and pauses for a second. Then, looking a little sheepish and a little hopeful, he asks "... do you think he'd be into me?"

The second item raises his interest, as well. "A cat martial artist? You wouldn't happen to have his contact, would you? I have been looking to train into martial arts some. Someone who is like me would be amazing to train with, they'd know what it's like trying to balance your center of gravity while dealing with a tail..."

He waves a hand, "Yeah, I'm with the Titans, but when you say Titans, the public thinks Robin, Beast Boy, Starfire and Stardust. I'm in the 'Oh yeah, and then there's THESE guys' side of the team. Not quite breaking yet. You've got a heavier thumb on the collective consciousness than I do, and make no mistake about that!"
April O'Neil April grins about the Mikey part. "I'm not sure. Maybe if you bought him a bunch of video games and drove around in an Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile. His favorite things are food and video games, ya see." She smirks softly then before glancing away to a pair of people stepping in through the pizzeria doorway to head for the counter to get their pickup order.

She looks back at the subject of the martial artist. "I only know his name, Zhao Lin. Vanessa ran into him most recently. Said they got into a fight together in the alley, that he showed up and saved her. It sounded like his M.O. so I picked up on that pretty quick. Really nice guy though, but... totally one'a those types who just does his own thing and stays off the grid. No phones or nothing." She glances down at her own shiny new phone.

Another smirk is shown to Vorpal. "I'm sure once you get some more notoriety amongst the team that'll change. But maybe its best it doesn't change? The popular super heroes get swamped in public all the time, look at Cap or Wonder Woman. They get mobbed in public places."
Vorpal "Yeah, but I can disguise my appearance, so I can live with that." He grins and sticks his tongue out. "Food and video games? Sign me up, he sounds pretty straightforward, and I'm tired of trying to figure complicated guys out-"

At this, his phone starts vibrating. He frowns and looks at the screen.

"Crap. I gotta go. Looks like I'm on monitor duty in twenty, and if I pass on it, Raven might just eat my soul."

He's joking, of course. Right?

He starts sliding out of the booth and says, "Hey, I dunno, ask your friend Mikey if he'd like to meet me. Ya never know... but let's do hang out with your friend Vanessa. Just let me know when and I'll be here, 'cause I wanna do stuff with my favorite cousin, okay?"

He goes in for a hug "I mean it. Call me, I'm not too busy!"

And then he has to run to find an alleyway he can use his portal.
April O'Neil April sits up as Tommy is preparing to have to make a leave. "Oh, right on." She says softly and then cracks a grin to him. "I'll see whats what for Mikey. I don't know where his interests lie, so to speak. He's pretty young at heart still, ya know? 18 goin' on 8 kinda thing." She holds her grin then as she remains where she is at the booth, this pizza place is like an office away from her office, so she's pretty used to chilling here.

"Thanks for coming by, Tommy." She tells him on his way out. "Stay safe and let -me- know if I can help with anything you all are up to!"
