J'onn It is a quiet day, noone is trying to conquer the world, or destroy it, or turn it into a giant ball of elastics, noone is trying to mindcontrol all the humans, nor the plants, the animals, no mutants are fighting a war slaying tons of innocents, no gods are destroying any buildings. That means that, right now, the monitor room is as quiet as it could be, and as boring as it could be. Making his shift, J'onn is sitting on one of the chairs in front of the many monitors, his eyes carefully scanning them even if there's really nothing to see. Feeling lazy, he didn't shapeshift back in his original form, so that right now he's just looking like a tall and well built human wearing an elegant tailored suit, and maybe the only hints to his identity could be the large package of doublestuffed oreos on his right side, and the fact that regularly, one of those oreos telekinetically floats up to misteriously end in J'onn's mouth.
Karen Starr A quiet day, another of several, but unlike the last? Kara Zor-L wasn't trying to do that normal life, blending in thing that she's been struggling with of late. Once more wrapped in her recognizable white uniform, the blonde Kryptonian woman had been out flying through the quiet void of the stars and simply enjoying the beauty of it all. For all the abilities her people had, the wonder of travelling the stars had never gotten old.

Eventually though, she touched down in the landing bay and made her way deeper into the Watchtower, stretching her arms over her head and then tilting her head to the side as she spots the occupying martian of the Monitor station.

"J'onn," she greets, dropping her arms and then lazily raising a hand. "Hard at work?"
J'onn J'onn alternating his eyes between the various screens, he at least draws enough consolation from the sugary cookies at his side. And indeed one finds its way in his mouth while he's looking at the map of australia, then focusing on south america, on the athlantic ocean, and now on europe. His lips twist a bit upward when looking at the southern part of it, probably lost in some memories, at least until a voice brings him back to the present! "ah, good day! Well if hard at work means looking at the screens to make sure the world is still in one piece, well then, yes I am... But I am not going to complain about the absence of creatures, alive or not, trying to subjugate the planet..." he turns in powergirl's direction, aiming a soft smile her way. "how have you been anyways?"
Karen Starr "A lack of subjugation is generally a good thing," Karen nods, making her way over a little closer as they converse. "I've been...alright," she answers, even as her hand risks the dangerous of reaching for an oreo of her own. "Just worried about Kal-El. I know I'm not alone in it but...yeah." A shake of her head, the woman pops the cookie into her mouth and continues speaking with a food-muffled tone. "What about you?"
J'onn J'onn doesn't try to stop her nor to mindblast her, so generally it would be safe to assume he'll gladly share his oreos! At least she asks, some speedster he knows just steals them... He even smiles again at her, nodding as another oreo floats to him. "well, I think all of us are, but then again, he's alive, so..." he comments "even if I must admit lately I've been involved with some stuff down on Earth and am not fully updated on what happens up here..." as if to confirm his point, he glances at the various screens, observing a satellitar view of Xavier's school. "I've been well enough, as always. Nothing too special on my end..."
Karen Starr "The school with the jet?" she questions, giving a little tilt of her head. There was a sheepish shrug of her shoulders and she raises her hands. "You uh...you get curious when something comes from a basketball pitch with a sonic boom." Moving back just a little, Power Girl finds herself a seat, lazily unclipping her cape so as not to sit down on it before she folds her hands in her lap. "I suppose we're all just lucky for a break from destructive monsters and...less friendly aliens compared to us."
J'onn J'onn chuckles lightly and nods "yes, that, and with the mutants... One of my alteregos is the new science teacher there" he admits, glancing at Powergirl as she sits down, now alternating his eyes between her and the monitors "well why, you appear out of nowhere with a sonic bum too! And yes, I definitely agree, sometimes we need a break... The sentinels thing is already, stressful enough down there, so." he shrugs slightly, and now lifts not one, but two oreos, that soon vanish in his mouth. "bup amyways, phe..." he pauses, waiting till his mouth is empty "but anyways, what brings you to the monitor room?"
Karen Starr "A sonic b...?" Did the martian just manage a freudian slip or was it a trick of the accent? Shaking her head with a laugh, the Kryptonian looks towards the monitors herself before shrugging. "I've spent the last two days trying to do that alter-ego thing a bit better, go out for a drink, be 'normal'. So far I've been outed by a passing 'elf' and ran into a bar invaded by Avengers. At this point, I think normal is kinda overrated."
J'onn J'onn didn't realize that what he said is not exactly what he meant, and that's allright at least, Powergirl understood! That's enough! Even because oreos are distracting him, sort of... "hm, oh, well yeah I can totally understand you... I have tried several identities in the last years and, normal, is something I rarely found. But then again in the latest years, normal is a word that almost is, nonexistant? Or at the very least associated with a very rare thing."
Karen Starr "I guess it's the attempt that counts, right?" Power Girl muses before making to stand once more and retrieving her cape. "I mean, even Batman has some time not wearing the mask." Left to muse that thought, the blonde Kryptonian looks back towards the windows of the station. "But you're right. At the very least for people like us it's beyond rare. Suppose we'll just have to enjoy the 'different' then."
J'onn J'onn nods in full agreement, before standing up himself, shifting instantly to another human shape, this one wearing a police uniform. "well then, I suppose I'll go downstairs to see if someone else needs me, my shift is over!" he smiles, and picks up the package of oreos "please, be safe, powergirl." he adds, bowing his head in her direction and then, shifting his molecular structure, he phases through the floor, to fly into space, and then down, to Earth.
