Mercy Thompson | It's a warm morning in Central Park and Mercy, in jogging clothes, is....unsurprisingly out for a jog. She's got a water bottle and snacks, and a crowd around her asking questions. "Well" she sayys, before leaping into a spiel on the history of New York city. "Was it realy sold for fifty dollars?" one of the crowd, a teenager asks as Mercy's trying to jog here....trying, in vain, with n entourage of people shouting questions. Mercy picks up the pace and carries on jogging more. She's determined to get away, history degree be damned, she just wants a peaceful jog! |
Henry McCoy | Henry McCoy has a talk to give later today. But he hasn't changed into his clothes for that talk,b ut rather is in the park more casually, searching for something to eat. Hearing a talk, he carries three hot dogs as he watches Mercy. "Why the attention?" he just flat out asks. |
Mercy Thompson | Mercy raises her palms. "No clue" she sighs, slowing her jog. "Just because I know about history doesn't make me a walking information booth does it?" she asks looking back to the crowd. "They ever heard of the internet?" Mercy muses with a laugh. "I mean, it's rude to just go up to a strangr and ombard them with questions" |
Henry McCoy | Henry McCoy has little trouble keeping up with her jogging, though it makes eating a little more difficult to be moving that much. "But it's not like you're.. do you look like a tour guide to them?" |
Mercy Thompson | "Do i look like one to you? Jogging pants, sneakers, my hair's all mussed up" Mercy points out, "I'm no tour guide. They want that. Get a tour book. I" she adds between trides. "Am out for a jog. You know, answer one question, a million others show up" |
Henry McCoy | Henry McCoy snickers. "Very odd, very odd." Then she lets that last part slip. "Oh I see, you got... carried away, and then everyone pounced. Poor thing." |
Mercy Thompson | "Oh no, no, I thought I'd help somebody. Turns out that was a mistake" Mercy adds jogging around a tree, "So what're you doing here?" she asks not taking her eyes off the path yet. She'd rather not faceplant in mid jog. It'd mess up her day all things considered. |
Henry McCoy | Henry McCoy finishes one dog, and uses the now-free hand to point around. "It's New York City. Got to watch out for yourself. The tourists will eat you alive. I have a talk this afternoon, so I came in a little early to make sure I wouldn't get caught on a delayed train." |
Mercy Thompson | "You'd think I'd know having lived here but....tourists are scary" Mercy says with a worried look to the group, like they're zombies that feast on knowledge. "I'm out early before starting work. Delayed trains are a fact of life here.it's wonder anyone gets anywhere on time at all some days" she points out with a smile. |
Henry McCoy | Henry McCoy laughs. "Well, Mercy, now that I've gotten some food, I'd best go get back to my room for day, and change for the talk. Mind the tourists." |
