Henry McCoy Henry McCoy is a dark, feral presence as he storms into his lab, finding Jubilee already there, as she's been trying to help him out since he got shot. The door is manually SLAMMED shut. He takes a tablet, looks like he's about to smash it in two pieces on a bench, and then very, very gently saves himself from doing so.
Jubilee "Hank!" Jubilee begins to trail after him, saving anything he might knock winding or nearly push off a desk or shelf. "Talk to me, please?" she pleads. "What's happened? What's wrong?"
Henry McCoy Henry McCoy claps his hands together instead of smashing anything. Pointing at the tablet. "Did you see Scott's little love letter on the AAR from last night? We go find the guys who shot Doug, put him in that hospital bed, and what's he do? Read it."
Jubilee "Henry," Jubilee begins calmly, after glancing through the report. "Whatever we do has got to be done through the proper channels. Goin' rogue right now isn't the answer. It'll only get you, or even others, hurt. Or killed. I know you're angry, but going off the rails right now will only do more harm than good." Jubilee tries to wrap her arms around Hank and hug him to her gently.
Henry McCoy Henry McCoy inhales deeply, pacing. Brow lowered, he looks around, takes a throw pillow from his napping couch, and turns it into a puff of feathers. "If we don't stand up for our own, who will? The police? HEy maybe let's just get the Friends of Humanity to do it. No. We risk our lives onthese teams, and if we don't back each other up... what's that going to do to trust?" He doesn't actively push Jubilee off... but he's moving.
Jubilee "But 'm not askin' ya to trust someone else. Just...let's do it, but let's do it right. We can't go off and act outta anger. It could backfire, so hard," Jubilee protests, Hank having walked right out of her attempted hug. Jubilee stands with her arms at her sides, smoothing her red dress, a nervous habit she has. "We can do it right. We can do it without emotional knee-jerk. And that's what you have right now. Reflex. Reactionary response. I've seen where that gets /me/."
Henry McCoy Henry McCoy turns around and looks at her. His hands up, plams out, fingers spread. "It's not about what we do, or don't do. It's about what Scott's saying. He's saying it was wrong to try to stop the terrorist that nearly killed Doug. What do we even do here?"
Jubilee "Sweetie...I don't think he is saying that we won't go after them. He's saying let's go about it the right way. If we are reactionary, they will be, too. An eye for an eye sounds fair until each eye you take costs another of ours. That's what I'm tryin' to say. And I think that's what he is tryin to say, too. Cause we uphold the law. They don't. Whatever we do I'm could just escalate their response, if they don't intend to abide the law anyway "
Henry McCoy Henry McCoy picks up the tablet, turns to face her, and speaks in a very slow, quiet voice, though the rumble in his chest is evidenct with every R sound. "Those involved are direction responsible for the death of the Evolution staff member." Setting it down again. "So what does that make me?"
Jubilee Jubilee pauses and rereads the message. She blinks twice, and looks up at Hank. "Is he saying that our group was 'directly' responsible? I thought he meant their men. The ones they had involved." She looks back down at the message once more. "That...that isn't right. I mean, they were responding to us. But THEY did it. They made that choice. Maybe keep people from trying to go after them and causing more trouble, but there is no way anyone could hold /you/ responsible for....."
Henry McCoy Henry McCoy shakes his head and continues. "You have endangered mutant safety in Bushwick" Setting the tablet down again, his eyes are enraged, but his movements are very slow. "He's completely out of line."
Jubilee Jubilee closes her eyes for just a moment, then looks up to Hank. "Can I ask...what exactly you intended, that night, when you went out there? What was the plan? And the motivation?"
Henry McCoy Henry McCoy folds his arms, inhales deeply again. Voice still quiet and rumbly. "We went to find the ones who tried to kill Doug. We told them to leave the neighborhood and never deal drugs again. We need to stop hook, Jub."
Jubilee Jubilee frowns and sighs, soul-deep. "I know we do, Hank. I know we do. What you did? It did not directly cause anything. We have to stop it. And if there's anything that I can do to help you....well....I'm in."
Henry McCoy Henry McCoy inhales deeply. The rage still in his posture, but... subsiding. Now a thick hand comes down and rests on top of her head, as he looks to her. "How do we explain that to Scott? I think he... flew off the handle here himself."
Jubilee Jubilee looks up at Henry, his hand scrunching her hair a little, and she grins. "Maybe we need to have a chat with Scott, and find out exactly what his plan /is/, since it doesn't seem to include taking care of the problem. Y'think?"
Henry McCoy Henry McCoy inhales heavily, and with a deep sigh, he relaxes, and slumps into a stool. HAnd dropping off of Jub's head, onto her shoulder, and then her hip. "It's not about the plan. It's about the attitude. The X-Men are a covert team that engages in, frankly, vigilante action to protect people. Mostly mutants. Mostly from whose who have an irrational hatred of mutants. It's what we do. The fact that evil men reacted to us, doesn't makes what we did, evil."
Jubilee Jubilee shakes her head and leans in against Hank, wrapping her arms around him as his hand rests on her hip. "I know. You're right. You are. But until we take that to Scott, he isn't gonna see it. He may not even when we talk to him. But...for all of that...somethin' has to change."
Henry McCoy Henry McCoy grips her hip, looking into her eyes. "I'll tell him then. Thank you for helping me calm down a bit faster than I otherwise might have." And with that, a peck on the cheek.
Jubilee Jubilee squeezes Hank like an oversized plushie, burying her face in his fur. "Anytime, Hank. I'm here for ya. Always."
