Angel It took Angel five minutes, five minutes to understand how the interface of that smartphone is supposed to work. Why must they change the interface after the update, then? Getting people all busy figuring out stuff? But finally Angel managed to write that simple text for Morrigan, asking her if she would be free for their first training session, at midnight. Because seriously, who doesn't train at midnight?
He told her to join him at his hotel, where he took a room and rearranged it for training purposes, with tatamis covering the floor, weapon racks on the walls holding all sorts of training equipment, and a lot of space to hurl and throw people around. And so here he is, wearing a black pair of shorts and a black shirt, waiting for Morrigan.
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan was a night owl, so this was a good thing. She'd packed up from work and taken the time to change into work out gear. She's wearing black yoga pants and a grey loose fitting work out shirt. She didn't know what to expect really. She heads up to where she was told to meet him and the violet eyed red head gives a smile and a wiggle of her fingers to him, "Hey there, thanks for texting." she tells him. "Have you been doing alright?" she adds as she settles her bag down.
Angel Angel was waiting for the girl in the hotel's lobby, but then as soon as they're inside, it is to the training room that he leads her, walking while talking to save on time. "good day, Morrigan" he greets her, returning the greetings without a smile but still with a cordial enough voice, that is a success for those who know him!
"I've been well enough, thanks. What about you?" he replies, diplomatically, after all he spent the last nights tracking and then slaying a group of demons that liked squatting into empty basements, what could someone ask for, more than this lovely activity?
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan walks quietly with him for the moment, he was hard to read sometimes and maybe idle chit chat just wasn't his thing. Then there's a bit of a smile to him, "I've been alright. Not had my nose broken this week." she muses. "Thank you for agreeing to help me out with teaching. I'll try not to step on your foot...or stab you." she tells him.
Angel Angel nods in aknowledgement when learning of Morrigan's well being, with her nose intact and all. "to be precise that is not what you need not to do, I will consider myself quite satisfied if you will manage to stab me, or step on my feet, well maybe not the latter... It means you've learned how to effectively fight and defend." he comments with a calm tone of voice, and then opens his arms in a sweeping gesture to point at all the training room, weapon racks, tatami and all. "well then, do you have the basics of self defense or should we start from the, well, from the beginning?" he asks, turning to look at the woman "oh, and you're welcome, I am very glad to be of help" and even if he doesn't smile, because otherwise it wouldn't be him, his voice is sincere enough
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan gives a bit of a chuckle, "You know, most guys don't want to be stabbed, so I'll have to get used to that objective." she tells him. "Just no stepping on the feet, go it." she adds with a smile. Then she looks around the room and there's a low whistle, "Apparently someone is stocked up on things." she states quietly to that. Then she turns back to him, "I know a few of the basics. Never really had to defend myself till this year though." she admits to him. "So anything you want to teach and go over I'm happy to learn." she states.
Angel Angel tilts his head slightly, looking at Morrigan "most girls don't want to be stab..." his head almost imagines a comment to that, and he changes what he was saying into "most people wouldn't want to be stabbed with a sharp object either, but for training purposes, if you go close to it, I'll be satisfied I suppose... As long as you don't actually kill me, I mean." he shrugs, moving on the tatami after removing his own shoes "well first of all, we'll try to see and understand your style. So, I want you to try, to make me fall down, use whatever method you want..." and that said, he waits, with his eyes examining Morrigan to catch her every movement, his body appearing relaxed, standing on the tatami with his arms along his sides and his knees slightly bent.
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan slips off her shoes and then steps onto the mats as well. She was nervous, it was something that wasn't hard to sense. "Well, I mean...I could make a joke about stabbing girls, but I don't want you to think my mind is in the gutter." she shakes her head. She looks over the weapons and then back to him, "I don't think I have the ability to kill you. Unless my sorcery powers suddenly spike." she muses. "Make you fall down...alright." she tries not to look overwhelmed. "I don't really have a style." she admits as she comes forward, the womans pale arms wrapping around his waist and she tries to pull him off his feet. It's REALLY laughable. "Ugh. Why are you so heavy..." she mutters.
Angel Angel tilts his head again, then mutters "that's, well, that's why I didn't say that..." he almost whispers, then raises an eyebrow at Morrigan's attempt to throw him to the floor, his face twists in an odd way, his lips twitch, then it almost seems like his face is having convulsions. And then...

He chuckles, Angel chuckles, trying to place his hands on Morrigan's shoulders "now, now, if you want to go for a tackle, run towards your adversary at full speed, then lower yourself, plant a shoulder in its stomac and go for the tackle... But it's better if you don't or the opponent could just grab you and toss you behind its shoulder, hm? Try something else?"
Morrigan MacIntyre "You can chuckle. It's a miracle." Morrigan states as she stops moving. She felt stupid. And she probably looked much the part. She straightens herself out and then gives a look to him with a bit of a redness to her cheeks. Embarrassed, but she was still going to try things. "I think my whole thing is...I don't want to hurt you. Or do something that will piss you off." she admits. "But if I'm going to get you off your feet..." she murmurs as she walks around him.

Her second pass has her grabbing one of the practice weapons off the wall and she makes sure it's blunt. Nothing wanting to break his skin...or the weapon. "Are you someone that looks down on non honorable fighting?" she asks him, right before she aims for the back of his knees to take him down.
Angel Angel casts a glance at Morrigan "I can, but it's a rare thing!" he exclaims, getting again his neutral pseudoserious expression. At morrigan's next words though he twists his lips into a smirk "but if we're going to train getting hurt is almost inevitable. Plus, I am, difficult to hurt and, heal fast. As for pissing me off, I doubt you would or could that so easily so..." he shrugs, and as the girl comes with the blunt weapon, aiming for the back of his knees, he just lets her hit him but, as the object hits the back of his knee, he falls forward in a forward roll, bending his knee and trying to hit the weapon with the heel of his right foot. "it was a good move, there is not honorable fighting and dishonorable fighting, there's fighting and trying to win, or survive... In a formal duel then sure, be honorable, follow the rules, but if someone is threatening your life then go at it, using every single trick in your sleeve. He surely will, and if he don't, well, not a good combatant..."
Morrigan MacIntyre "Difficult to hurt and you heal fast?" Morrigan asks as he goes rolling forward and there's a bit of a curious look over him when he hits the weapon and it goes flying. "I'll have to work on my grip as well." she mutters. Then she puts her hands on her hips and she looks over him again, "Are you a vampire?" she asks him. It's a point blank kind of thing, but she didn't seem to be upset or anything, she just was curious. "If...you don't want to give me the answer I understand. I do." she adds as she goes to retrieve the wooden sword and replace it on the wall. She at least cleaned up after herself.
Angel Angel stands up after the roll, straightening himself with a fluid and graceful motion "and remember that there is never a good move in a fight, because your adversary could pull out something better. So even if you're experienced, even if you've been fighting for three centuries, almost, always be prepared. Confident, sure, but prepared. Especially in a world where people now apparently can toss cars, set things alight with their eyes, phase through walls, teleport, and move at the speed of light" he adds in a lower voice "or heal fast, and be difficult to injure..." he adds after that.
It is still by looking at Morrigan that he twists again his lips in an odd expression, halfway between a smirk and a smile "I could be, in that case hopefully not one of the hones that want to drain you of your blood and see humans as happy meals with legs..."
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan gives him a look as her hands leave her hips and she crosses her arms over her chest and she looks to him. It's a calculating look. She's already overly intelligent, so the look isn't helping. "Always be prepared. Got it." she nods to this. She gives a bit of a breath out and then looks away from him, "It's not like some of them want to be what they are." she admits. Then she looks back to him. "But I get it." she nods to that.
Angel Angel makes a soft humming, thoughtful sound and shakes his head "always try to be prepared, but be aware that you can never truly be. Because there'll be always something that you can't calculate in advance, or at the very least, there's that possibility. And you must be prepared for it, be prepared to not be prepared." he shrugs, at the seemingly redundant words that he just said, then tilts his head again "we are what we are, but then, we can choose what we make of it." he comments, maybe even including himself in what he just said.
"ok, now lets see how flexible your mind is... I'm stronger, faster, more experienced than you. I have a sword" and he indeed walks to one of the racks, taking a wooden sword and twirling it in his right hand casually "you have whatever weapon you can find in here... You have exactly thirty seconds to stop me before I use my sword, which we will pretend not to be wooden, to slice you in half." and even if quietly he starts counting! 29, 28, 27, 26...
Morrigan MacIntyre "It'll take time..." Morrigan states softly. Maybe it was something she was thinking. Maybe she was just rambling. She watches him carefully and then when he goes to get the practice sword there's a moment those violet eyes of hers squint at him and she shifts her weight, readying herself.

Oh shit! He said get a weapon and then started counting!

There's a very comedic moment of panicked red head rushing to one of the weapon walls and grabbing up...the first thing she can. Why are there nunchucks here?! It didn't matter, when Angel got to 1 she was ready to fend him off.

Or she thought she was...
Angel Angel gets to 1, and even if part of him is disappointed, he still must do what he said he would've done! And indeed he sprints forward and to Morrigan's left, moving at a speed that is definitely superior to that of a human, except that at the last second he changes his direction completely, coming instead from Morrigan's right, his wooden sword moving in a blur to strike in a quick succession at the two weapons that she is wielding, intent of disarming her instead of slicing as promised. "so you spent 30 seconds trying to look for a weapon that would beat a faster, stronger, and more experienced opponent... Like a weapon would make the difference! But, you didn't try to talk me down, even to just ask me to not do this... You tried to use a weapon when there were easier methods that would've worked better by utilizing your own talents, things that you already know how to do... Do you see my point, Morrigan?" he pauses, blinking "you know, the most powerful warrior is not the one who wins every fight, but the one that knows when to fight, and when fighting is not the right way to go..."
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan's expecting to get hit, but it doesn't happen, she just gets disarmed. There's a bit of a curious look to him as he talks and there's a very soft sigh that is let out, "Yeah...I failed that in spades." she murmurs. "But do you seriously think anything that I'm going to run into is going to want to listen to me?" she asks him. "The vampires I've ran into don't even want to talk. They just want to attack." she frowns. "But, you're right, Sun Tzu." she points out. "Maybe trying to de-escalate is a better approach and then poke them with the pointy end if they don't want to listen." she nods.
Angel Angel nods in agreement, retrieving all the weapons, the ones on the floor and the sword he used, to place them back on the racks "before teaching you how to defend yourself, I need to make sure you know when to use the sword, and when to use your tongue... Vampires are generally speaking overconfidant arrogant bastards, play on that. Stall them, some of them love to ear the sound of their voice, let them talk, let them make a mistake. They're faster and stronger than you, they might have centuries of experience on their shoulders, but oftentimes, they're not smarter than you."
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan gives a half smile to that, "Well, that is a good place to start, especially when I suck with the fighting." she muses. Then she watches him for a moment, "Is that how long you've been alive, three centuries?" she asks him quietly. She was a curious one. There was no doubt about that. "Thank you for having me over for practicing." she tells him.
Angel "You'll improve, I'm sure of that." Angel replies, crossing his arms on his chest at the question "give or take..." is his answer "but I havn't always been so kind and sweet and joyful" if he is sweet and joyful now it's better not to think about what he was! RIght, a bloodthirsty vampire known to the world as one of the worst nightmares in existance, named Angelus. But that's the past, right? Reason enough to brood, at the very least.
"you're welcome, as I said it is a pleasure. But now, lets stop talking and start training! So first, lacking in strenght, then use the strenght of your adversary against him. We'll learn throws, because they're relatively easy to pull out, effective, and not too taxing on energy..." and he starts explaining the various aspects of some throws, such as the catching of the wrist when someone tries to punch, only to pull them and turn to throw them over the shoulder, or how to catch the leg of someone that is kicking and pulling upwards to unbalance them, only to swipe their other leg from under them, guiding Morrigan through the process of learning with an explanation, then a demonstration, and then having her try it with him correcting eventually the positions and stances until the move can be pulled out succesfully"
