Grail The guys thought it'd be an easy smash and grab. It was the time of month. The corner store was always way busier during this time. They had a lot of people coming in shopping and likely wouldn't have time to put all the money in the safe. The guys waited till the door was clear, rammed their truck into the window beside it. People screamed, they rushed inside in masks and started waving guns. What they didn't know was that they weren't the only spectacle in the store at the time.

The place was just as busy but a lot of people were already staring in surprise at something they had never seen before. A tall woman in grey with dark red eyes and black hair looking at the sushi being prepared with her arms crossed. Someone stated it was one of the best things on Earth. She would try this Earth delicacy. Then the crash happened.

Up at the front of the store, the men are busy dumping the registers into their bags when one man heard something behind him.

"You use fear and surprise to get what you want. Are you strong enough to take it, too?" Grail asks, staring down at the man who thought himself rather tall at 6 foot. He whips around and aims the gun at her chest.

"La...dy..." He pauses and swallows at the tall rather alien looking woman before him, scrambling back and pulling the trigger. The others whip around and aim their guns. THey don't fire but he did. He was scared. The bullet drops to the ground. Grail looking down at it before she chuckles, "Is that what Earth calls a weapon?"

A moment later, outside, the sound of a crack and a scream of pain is followed by more gun fire.
Gwen Stacy Okay seriously first off whomever told Grail that Sushi was an Earth Delicacy left out that one should not eat corner store Sushi. I mean at least this is New York and not a landlocked state in the midwest but there are seriously better places to get your sushi unless you want to be eating flounder or something.

Second off there is such a concept as proportional use of force or proportionality. This is probably breaking that concept and also several laws.

Gwen is on an patrol with Miles, trying to clear her head from various stresses, concerns, and a work product. It also is a great opportunity to bond with the newest Spider and also make sure he gets more experience.

Her attention zeros on the gunfire. This leads her with a swing to the truck through the front of a corner store. Definitely criminals of some sort up to no good! "Right .. time to stop a robbery!" she calls to Miles.

With a thwip and a swing on her webline she swings in low and fast to stick the landing in a classic superhero pose in the doorway.

"Stop... ur" okay to be fair she wasn't expecting all this. The eyes of her mask narrow surveying the scene puzzled.
Miles Morales After school curicular activities are important. You know, like math club and track. Or, you know... high powered vigilantism. What better way to break the law for the greater good than by patrolling with Ghost Spider?

Experience is key and for a young man in his first month of super heroics? Miles is proving to be a -scary- fast learner. Bordering on unnatural. Is he cheating? Steroids?! No. He's just a natural. "So I say to the guy: That's not webbing and you're banned from Taco Bell. Then something exploded and now I can't get the smell of ground beef out of my suit."

Gunfire! Score! What a lifestyle change. Run toward the gunfire, Miles. Or swing. Whichever. Changing direction, Miles swings wide and low to Gwens low and fast. A curve ball approach! "Health Board! You're all under arrest because ginger is gross!" Be says as he lands beside Gwen in a low crouch.
Rachel Roth     Raven doesn't really... Go out. To be honest, what's happening today is an odd situation indeed. Not just because there is an attempted corner store robbery. Not just because Grail is stopping it, and apparently in addition to this, not one, but -two- spider-people have arrived to... Do the same thing. No, today is absolutely terrifically strange because, across the street from the corner store that is currently being... Aggressed, there sits at an outdoor table a single, gloomy figure. There is a rather fancy- perhaps even expensive- iced drink in front of her. It perspires in the heat of the summer amidst how little attention it has gotten.

She is paying attention to her phone for a moment, the hood of her sweater pulled up about her, but not so far forward that it would hide her face. There is a moment of activity on its screen, and then shortly afterwards, her expression deepens. Souring an already sour mood isn't exactly possible, but attentive eyes might catch that this is exactly what happened.

    "Of course she's not."

Sliding her phone back into her pocket, Raven makes to depart, leaving some money on the table. As soon as she's to her feet, and before she's gotten a chance to teleport away, the ambient violent intent at the corner store nearby gets her attention- shortly before the whole thing erupts into a full-force robbery.

Others might flee, cower in terror, or otherwise react... Well, in any way. Raven merely observes the scene.

    "Of course it is."

She begins walking her way along towards the corner store, taking her time- and it's about at this point that Grail shows up and begins handling things. Followed by the Spiders. There is a sigh. Now there won't be any catharsis- not that she'd indulge particularly.

    "Of course they are."
Grail The screams are loud. Some from the people trying to get away from the gunfire but also from the man now down on the ground as Grail stands over him. She put him on the grounand is slowly stepping her foot down upon his upperarm. There's terrible sound coming from under her foot that is drowned out by the sound of his screams of anguish.

Meanwhile, bullets bounce off her like ping pong balls off a wall. She looks up with a smile at the others and chuckles, "Now now, wait your turn. I'll break you next..." She then looks down even as a bullet slams into her cheek and falls down, "I was just trying to find something to eat and you ruined my d-"

"Lady!" One robber calls out from under his mask as he grabs a woman nearby and holds a gun to her head, "Stop! STop or this lady dies!"
"No." Grail grins as she looks at him, "You have that wrong. That lady dies...and then you die."

Of course, then two spiders show up at the entrance and she blinks as she looks. She points at Miles with a rather disconcerting smile and laughs a little as the men stop firing for a moment, taking in the new comers and realizing that Grail isn't gonna be shot.

"It's you. The small one who can turn invisible and run away." She nods to Miles, "How have you been? Found your spine?" She tilts her head, "Or just here with your friend?" She hmms and tilts her head. Meanwhile the robber with the hostage waves his gun at Grail.

"Lady! I...I got a hostage! Pay attention to me!" To which Grail only holds up a hand and one finger at him as if to say hold on.
Gwen Stacy "You can turn invisible?" Gwen asides to Miles distracted for a moment. What the hell. She can't do that.

Wait focus Gwen.

"No one is dying here today... what the hell people." thwipping to snag the gun out of the hostage takers hand with a yank unless he is stronger then he looks. "K-A... take down the robbers.. I got this maybe."

With her other hand she thwips a webline onto the guy Grail stepped on and tries to pull him clear before she can crush him. She isn't going full strength or anything but she is hoping Grail may have eased off with the distraction enough for her to get the robber clear before Grail steps on his head. "We don't kill robbers. Bad whoever you are."
Miles Morales "First of all, that was a tactical retreat." Miles retorts a little too quickly. Nevermind the trill of fear that raced up his spine at the sight of Grail. It was fear and adrenaline that triggered the power in the first place. It's a special relationship they have. "You can't?" Miles asks Gwen incredulously.

Popping up to his feet, a spring in his heels and a bounce in every step as Miles puts space between him and Gwen. "Robbers. Check. Hey, guys. Sorry in advance." Gwen fires off a web line and Miles capitalizes on it. Snagging the gun from the air that she yanked free, only to frisbee it at another mans face.

It's all in the hips. Twisting into the throw for more power, he spins on heel and sees the approaching Raven. A hand shoots upward to wave too enthusiastically. "Hey! Creepy Girl! Do that horrible thing you did that I still need to discuss in therapy!"
Rachel Roth     Raven is, altogether, displeased. First, Miles is here. That makes everything altogether worse, no matter how earnest he was about trying to help not that long ago. Doubling down, Grail doesn't seem to be interested in keeping the criminals alive. To be fair, it isn't exactly a requirement, but it's an interest that most in their circle are happy to uphold.

That Miles notices her approach makes her roll her eyes. She seems momentarily put-upon, bothered that not only would Miles talk to her, but that he'd ask her to -do- what she was already going to do. Her hands emerge from her pockets, and she begins muttering under her breath.

The visible effect is that her shadow simply leaves her body, stretching out into this giant winged bird that seeks out the innocent bystanders still within the corner store. For its part, it is obvious that she is doing something at the moment- her eyes blacken, and around them shines a corona of light, as if her eyes were in negative, surrounded in anti-light.

The shadow itself, of course, lurches upwards, for both those taken hostage and not. Should it be allowed to engulf them, they will simply disappear into it- as if the floor had lost its tangibility. They will reappear of course- outside of the store. Shaken. Terrified still, probably more now of at least two of the heroes than the thugs. But safe!
Grail The man with the gun on the hostage seems...confused at what is happening till suddenly his gun is yanked away. He then blinks and looks up, "Hey!" He then tries to grip on to the woman tighter. Meanwhile, his partner behind the counter takes a gun to the face and goes down. Then the guy under Grail's foot gets yanked away. He slides into a wall and whimpers. He doesn't hit hard but he's clearly trying to cradle his arm which is very likely shattered.

"I wasn't going to kill him." Grail states, "Just shatter many of his bones." She nods her head, "Humans can recover from that, right? Saving him teaches him nothing." She chuckles and then watches as Miles goes by. Of course, he points out the approaching woman and she blinks at Raven, tilting her head. Her eyes follow the shadows and watch as the bystanders and hostages vanish.

"What?! Hey!" The same robber who had his gun stolen now has his hostage stolen and he is left standing there gunless and hostageless. He notices his friend behind the counter's gun and scrambles to go grab it even as the third guy, who has been standing by hte counter this whole time simply drops slowly to hte ground and puts his hands behind his head. Ya know, just in case.

People now outside all shiver and stare around themselves, clearly stunned and unsure if they are uh, saved or not.

"Well, now that's a neat trick." Grail states and smirks at Raven.
Gwen Stacy "Not very fast or often very well." she points out about humans recovering from having many of their bones shattered. A break sure, but shattered by super strength and many not so much.

"Okay that is like fifteen shades of spoopy and also kind of cool yeah.. I hate to agree with the violent one but that was cool.:

Then "Kid, robbers." calling out the guy who seems to be heading towards his friends gun now.

Meanwhile she is walking a bit closer to Grail. "So we do not sshatter lots of bones of criminals.. we stop them.. gift wrap them.. and let the cops put them away and punish them for a long time." Gwen silently thinks >hopefully< because stupid Shredder and stupid Foot.
Miles Morales "Ooooh, she just wanted to shatter his boooooones." Miles chimes in as he light footedly steps over broken glass. An easy stride, the kid seems to be finding his confidence. Or just faking it until he makes it. "Honest mistake, right? Might as well go home."

Gwen pointing out the would be robber going for a new gun, Miles THWIPS the wall behind the counter and jerks the line. Rocketing forward to somersault over said counter and land on the gunman. A double footed back stomp. He remains perched on his prey. "You mean this robber? This one here or the one giving up? Ahhhhh, you mean this one." Miles lifts his head to peek over the counter. Giving Rachel a likely all the more annoying thumbs up. "It -was- a neat trick. I absolutely didn't cry when she did it to me. Whoever said I did is a liar."

Eyes widen as Gwen steps up to Grail. Oh no. Oh no no.
Rachel Roth     At this point, Raven's hands quietly slip back into her pockets. One of the robbers has surrendered. The others are either disabled- literally, figuratively, etc.- or disarmed. She isn't sure what else there would be here to do, of course, instead just reaching into her pocket to pull out, well, her cell. After a few quick taps, she brings it up to her ear.

"I'd like to report an emergency. There was a robbery in progress, and then someone showed up to ruin Spider-Man's brand. That would be the emergency." There is a moment, then, as she describes the location and its address, and then she hangs up. The police, for sure, are on their way. For the portion of that where she described a Certain Someone, she was clearly looking at Miles.

Slipping her phone into her pocket, Raven continues allowing the citizens to... Do what they please. Flee. Wait. It doesn't really matter. She's not the Cleanup type.
Grail The bystanders are mostly scrambling away. A few are still there, stunned or just waiting to see what happens or happened. One is scrambling to get their phone out to film this. As for the criminals? Yeah, they are, for the most part, finished. They aren't entirely sure where things went wrong but hey. All those good plans.

"Oh? I'm sure that's worked quite well so far." She chuckles, "You are soft." She nods her head, "How do you intend to teach these people to live a right way if you simply lock them up. Does that make you feel like a hero?" She hmms and tilts her head before looking out to the woman who just teleported all those people outside through shadow. She simply turns away from Gwen, walking toward Raven and hmms.

"Now you, you are interesting." She states, "That was an impressive display of power. I am Grail. Who are you?"
Gwen Stacy Gwen notes to Grail "Yup." then just shakes her head and looks at Miles "Okay. Well this went well." she thwips the guy who is giving up to web him to the wall, maybe a pinch more forceful of a web shot than was needed.

"Also the spooky Goth Girl isn't entirely wrong about poor Spider-Man's brand." pause "Though you do have better taste in footwear." she is checking around to make sure the guns are webbed down and the robbers.

"We should probably swing on out Kid Arachnid." okay she is enjoying his lack of good name now. "Before the cops show up."
Miles Morales Craning his neck up to see over the counter from his kneeling spot atop a mans spine. Miles deadpans across the room, ego bruised. "Thanks for that, Draculanda." He upnoda the wildly powerful sorceress. Standing up on his human floor mat, Miles flips up the hood of his Captain America jacket.

Clapping his hands clean of dust, he hop/slides over the counter and lightly kicks a gun toward the wall. Just incase. "I don't know, Ghost. Maybe he needs a better agent? Do we get agents?" Eyebrow arched upward sharply beneath that black mask, Miles surveys the damage around them. Keeping a respectfully safe distance from Grail while he's at it. Thwip! Thwip! He double-taps some of Gwen's web work.

An upnod at the gargantuan space woman and the much less gianty demon-ish one. "Awesome shoes aside, kind of a clothes horse and I won't appologize for style... should we? I mean, pretty sure giant lady is going to use sunshine there as a shoe shine once we turn our backs. Red. Glowing. Eyes. How is that not a dead give away for evil?"
Rachel Roth     There are comments from Miles to address, but judging by certain notifications that she has received from various channels, Raven will just leave that for later. She will have several opportunities to essentially bully Miles. It's, apparently, something of a pastime.

Instead, she is somewhat forced to put all of her attention on Grail. To that end, Raven stands her ground, looking up at the approaching Not-Darkseid with this nonplussed expression that absolutely betrays how much Raven wanted to have left several minutes ago.

"Raven. I am not in the business of impressing people. Are you done here?"
Grail "I was, but now I'm given something new to interest me." She tilts her head, "A girl with a complexion similar to my own who uses shadows to act?" She tilts her head, "Color me interested." She then looks over at Miles a moment and then at Gwen, "Such a low opinion of me." She chuckles at Miles, "You probably shouldn't judge a book by its cover." She then looks back to Raven, "Of course, good and evil are rather subjective, aren't they?" She chuckles a little before stepping a bit closer to Raven and leaning down a little, "Quite the attidue." She grins wider, "I like it..."
Gwen Stacy Gwen notes to Miles "I am pretty sure she is just going to stalk the spoopy goth girl aka Raven.. oh right.. a Titan... who seems to have your number Kid Archnid." gosh that is a fun name to say.

" she looks at Miles amused.

Then she starts to ease on out past Raven and Grail. "Seriously though. If you kill robbers you will be pursued by the law here... though I get the impression you may not be from around here. So I guess pursued by Superman or the Justice League... maybe SHIELD...." pause "Or." pause "Batman. Definitely don't dare step foot into Gotham."

Gwen. Bad Gwen.
Miles Morales "Just going to point out that no book with glowing red eyes has ever turned out to beeeee...." Miles air-drum rolls and points at Grail. "... not evil. But your point is strong. Now I'm conflicted." Red and white classic Converse All-Stars crunch on the bits and pieces of debris under heel as Miles circles widely around Grail as he makes for the door with Gwen.

"She's definitely got my number. Who else would text me black hearts at three in the morning?" Okay, a fib but one that amuses Miles. He chuckles at his own joke. Probably not supposed to do that. Clearing his throat and Serious Facing for a moment, he drops his tone an octave or two lower. Intimidation Tone. "Or me." He says while backward walking out the door. "Gotham is nice though. Less murdery than I heard." A quick backhand tap to Gwens shoulder. "Oh, hey. I'm a Titan. Kinda. Sorta. Probably. You got this, Raven? You good? Awesome."
Rachel Roth     Raven doesn't budge. Instead, she stares right into the other woman's glowing red ones. She continues, of course, to look as if she's being bored- which, somewhat neutrally, is her base expression. Gwen and Miles' comments are a little unheeded, as they're mostly for Grail. She does comment somewhat. "She can do what she likes. I'm sure that the League will be speaking to her soon if she gets out of hand."

A pause, then, and Raven speaks more directly to Grail. "Listen, I'm gonna -go-. This has been great and all, but I have literally anywhere else to be."
Grail "Aww, well, that's sad." She states and then shrugs, "Perhaps we can talk again at some point. I may not be around long, Raven." She chuckles and then turns her gaze to Miles and Gwen briefly. She disappears and reappears in a burst of speed that is fast enough to vanish in a blink. She appears right near the pair of spiders and grins as she looks at both, "I do hope to meet this Superman. Maybe this Batman, too. So far most of your worlds heroes have been...lackluster." She then looks back at Raven, "Maybe we'll see each other again, Raven. It was not the worst meeting you." She then disappears in a burst of speed again.
Gwen Stacy Gwen doesn't flinch or leap back, mostly because Grail wasn't actually intending her harm so no spider sense tingling. "Go to Gotham" she notes at wanting to meet Batman. "Or Metropolis" she adds as an after thought. Really the message is leave New York.

Once Grail is gone she just shakes her head "Come on you Titan Wannabe." and waves to Raven "Thanks for the civilian spooky rescue Raven." and steps outside firing a webline to take her out of there.
Miles Morales That burst of speed from Grail gets a narrow eyed stare from Miles. Spider Sense not triggered. Jacket fluttering at the gust. "Jesus. Did you see her move?" Looking way up at Grail, he swallows that lump in his throat. She scares the crap out of him. Plain and simple.

Gwen giving the greenlight to retreat, Miles smartly backs up without taking eyes off the giantess. "Yeah. Yeah, I gotta... thing..." Thwip! He can't get out of there fast enough.
