Josh Foley Josh has come back to his favourite campsite by Breakstone Lake at Xavier's. If there was anywhere, it was his thinking spot. He lay back against rock not far from the shore of the lake. His phone is turned off and sitsbeside him in the rough grass beside a water bottle.

The young man moves little, just occasionally throwing a small rock into the water or shifting to feel more comfortable. He wears black cargo shorts and a blue t-shirt. And he sparkles in the sunlight and with every move. The sunlight glints off the metallic gold colour of his skin.
Jubilee Jubilee has looked /everywhere/ for Josh. She hasn't seen him in days. They said he wasn't at the Avengers' Mansion. So if there was one place she knew of to look, it would be at the lake. So she loaded up a six pack of his favourite beer in a cooler, and she headed out to find him, wheeling it behind her to her bike.

She took the Jeep out to the lake, but she is now walking a worn path to toward the campsites...and the spot where Josh has to be. Because if she doesn't just go on faith that he is there, she is going to panic. And probably hyperventilate. And nobody wants that. Approaching his spot, she pauses and calls out with some trepidation. "Joooosh?"
Josh Foley Josh sits up a bit when he hears his name. He looks back over the rock toward Jubilee. He watches for her reaction when she spots him.

"Hey Jubes," he calls back to his friend. "Over here."
Jubilee "JOSH!!" Jubilee comes running, with a little wheely cooler coming along behind her. She stops when she gets closer. She's been around mutants long enough never to be too shocked by physical changes. But Josh's change is pretty profound.

"Soooo, how ya dooooin'?" Jubilee asks, rocking back and forward on her heels. "Didja get a haircut? Ya look different somehow."
Josh Foley Josh smirks. "Yeah, that must be it," Josh says sarcastically. "You better have ice cream or beer or a body condom in that cooler for me."

Josh jerks his head for Jubilee to join him.
Jubilee Jubilee blinks, wide-eyed. "Why would you want a body condom?" She pulls the little cooler along over to where he is sitting, and she strip off her top to reveal a bikini top. "I just came to get a tan, cause now you're like one of those sun reflector things that'll make it go faster." She doesn't remove the cutoff shorts, however. "The shorts stay on, though. I don't need bugs in mah bottoms." She opens the cooler and pulls out an iced beer, which immediately begins to frost over. "One for you. One for me." She leans back alongside him and stares at the lake for a moment. "So...this is the show, huh?"
Josh Foley Josh cannot help but glance Jubilee's way when she peels off her top. But the young man has sense enough to look away before she finishes at least.

"Yep, just call me Australian Gold, got all your tanning needs right here," Josh says dryly.

He accepts the beer and does not miss the lable. Josh raises an eyebrow at Jubilee but then turns his attention to the lake.

"Not a bad show. Quiet, pretty, no surprise endings," Josh replies. He takes a long pull from his beer. "Well. Except who shows up with who at the fire pits. Days of our Xavier."
Jubilee Jubilee nods. "Eh, I'm over the surprise endings, these days. I'll take just the plain old lake." She leans to nudge Josh lightly. "Get in a fight with a can of Krylon? Did'ja win?" She runs a fingertip down his arm and then rubs it against the bad of her thumb. Then she leans in to sniff him. "God, you smell good. But you don't smell like paint...." Her expression becomes tentative as she looks expectantly back up toward his eyes.
Josh Foley "That'd be the actual suntan lotion, since I've got no idea if I burn or not anymore," Josh says. He meets Jubilee's eyes for a moment, and looks lost more than anything. Josh looks back out over the lake and chucks another rock. It plops quietly into the lake and its ripples peter out quickly.

"I got jumped," Josh says. "Reavers made an EMT I know call me and pretend there was an accident. And I fell for it, and took off with Wanda. Right into the trap."

Josh throws another rock. It makes a 'tock' noise when it hits a small log floating slowly by.

"They sent Richie. They turned him into a cyborg and they sent him," Josh says bitterly. He drinks from his beer again. "We were best friends from like, grade 3 until the day we attacked Andrea, you know? Most of our lives."
Jubilee "Josh. I'm so sorry. That sucks. Just goes to show how twisted they can become. But I know how much it can hurt for a friend to screw you over that way," she says with a hint of bitterness all her own. "But...you were jumped. That still doesn't explain that healthy glow you've got now..." She again has some trepidation in her tone.
Josh Foley "Yeah... I don't even know, Jubes," Josh says. He takes another pull from his beer. "Wanda says I got stabbed in the head and was dead, for a couple hours. And.. Then I wasn't, and I was this colour. Like the colour from the glow when I heal people. And I can feel things like I'm touching them, even when I'm not, but I can't change my fucking skin back. I can't change the colour at all."

Josh exhales.

"Sorry, I shouldn't complain. I'm still alive, and it's not like I got screwed like the kid that looks like a walking dinosaur," Josh says. One side of his mouth quivers just a bit. "Not gonna look human again anymore though. Not now. Look like a fucking walking statue."
Jubilee Jubilee reaches out and touches his arm again, this time actually feeling his flesh. "Don't think that way, Josh. You look human. You just also look mutant, when maybe you didn't before. But it's not just human. It's....it's beautiful." There are tears not just welling in her eyes, but also sliding down her cheeks. She sniffles, and looks back up to his own eyes. "You're beautiful and don't let ANYBODY tell you otherwise." But the tears keep coming, and they are prolific. Her eyes, now red-rimmed and glossy, are focused on his face, as the tears roll unabashedly down over her cheeks.

"You d--" a sob catches in her throat, and cuts her off. She sits there for a moment, trying to gather enough composure to speak, but she can't, so she turns her eyes back on the lake and wraps her arms around the one she was feeling, hugging it relentlessly, and laying her head against his shoulder.
Josh Foley "Oh geez, Jubes, it's okay, I'm still here," Josh says gently.

"Come here, it's okay," Josh says and gathers Jubes into his lap where she rest her against his chest and he can hold her. "It's okay."

Josh just sits with Jubilee like that while she is upset, trying to comfort her just by being there.
Jubilee Jubilee just....cries. She gathers a handful of Josh's shirt as she rests her head against his chest and tries not to impede him taking a drink of his beer. After what seems like a long time, she lifts her head and looks back up to him, regarding him seriously. "Don't ever die again, okay?" She sniffles and wipes her eyes with the back of her hand. "I can only take once, and barely that." She takes a shaky breath and sighs.
Josh Foley Josh sits quietly with Jubilee and just holds her. He rocks gently back and forth until Jubilee looks up at him.

"I'll try not to, promise," Josh says. "And even if I did, I'm pretty sure I'd be back."
Jubilee "You better be..." Jubilee points a finger up at him as menacingly as she can muster. "Cause if you think /this/ was bad, just wait till you see what I'm capable of if you don't."
Josh Foley "Whoa, hey, don't point those guns at me!" Josh says and raises his hands in mock surrender. "I'll do whatever you say."
Jubilee Jubilee smiles and sniffles again. "All right...I think you've had enough. Let's go swimmin'." She carefully extracts herself from Josh's lap, then casts a sidelong, stoic (or as stoic as she gets) glance. "I'm sorry, Josh. We gotta be more careful. Stuff is getting more dangerous. I wish I had been there to help..."
Josh Foley Josh shakes his head.

"It's okay Jubes, nothing you could have done. Everyone warned me about the risks of going public.... And I owed a pound of flesh for being a Reaver. Maybe I'm square with karma now," Josh says. He stands up and peels off his shirt. He looks self-conscious, an unusual thing for him.

"I feel like a raver or one of those guys that does the living statue thing on the sidewalks," Josh looks down at himself and says.
Jubilee "Oh dude....you could totally do that now, without the paint. Or cosplay an Oscar!" she exclaims as she wiggles out of her shorts and kicks off her flipflops. "Oh hey, unexpected benefit! It really makes your muscles pop, like...total definition with that shiny." She is already wading out into the water, knee deep.
Josh Foley Josh looks down. "Huh, you're right. I'll take it," Josh says and then looks up. "Hey, wait. You were looking? Busted!"

He follows after Jubilee into the water quickly. Josh tackles her from behind and rolls into the water. "Oh shit that's cold," he laughs when he comes up.
Jubilee Jubilee squeals when tackled, until she goes under. She comes back up sputtering and laughing. "Hey, you can't blame me for that!" She wipes the water from her eyes and looks back at Josh, bobbing with her chin just above the water. "I mean I'd deny it, but a girl would have to be /crazy/ not to look!"
Josh Foley "Pfft, you need to learn from us guys," Josh says with a grin. He shakes his head to wick out the extra water from his hair. "Deny, deny deny!"
Jubilee "Why deny it? You liked that I looked," Jubilee replies with faux indignation, treading water in a little circle till she finds ground she can touch beneath her toes, and she inches her way into shallower water. "It's only good to deny when someone wouldn't want ya lookin'."
Josh Foley Josh smirks. "Cause girls are weird. Even when they want you to notice, they get all whacked when they catch you looking."

"So us guys have to get sneaky. Checking a girl out when she's taking her top off at the beach, that kind of thing. Then it doesn't get awkward!" he says with a grin.
Jubilee "Like I didn't notice..." Jubilee chides as she finds the water up to her midriff, and she fiddles with her hair, trying to remove a leaf it has grown rather attached to. "It's human to look, and anybody who says they don't is a liar..." She smirks as she frees the leaf and sends it on its way. "Or they're just demented."
Josh Foley "I can hear every boyfriend in America cheering you on, and every girlfriend sharpening their knives!" Josh jokes. "C'mon, let's go out to the swim dock."
Jubilee "Sure thing." Jubilee smiles and sinks down into the water. "But stay close...if those girlfriends catch me with their knives, I'm gonna need ya."
