Tim Drake Tim Drake has invited Steph over. He told her, it was to talk about the collections, but in fact he has planned on giving her a bday present and if she has time spending the day together, something he and his friend have not done much. He may also show off the new base. So, he is patently waiting for her trying not to give away he has a few surprises.
Stephanie Brown Steph isn't quite sure why Tim told her to meet him at the Monarch Theater. But then he often has a lead on items for his collection, and maybe the old theater might have something there. It surely has a lot of history to it, even if Stephanie has never heard the tale of the role it played in the life of Bruce Wayne, which then touched so many people in her life.

Stephanie pulls up on her motorcycle. She hasn't received a birthday present from Bruce yet, and the Batcycle of course can't be used for normal running around town. She hops off, locking the bike and then heading for the entrance to the theater. "Ok, this looks completely different than what I expected," she says of the theater that has an entrance more like a house than a theater. She goes over to the door tentatively and gives it a loud rap of her knuckles.
Tim Drake Tim Drake will smile and presses a button on the remote he carries with him and the doors open. He is standing in the open layout main living room, and smiles "Come on in." He motions her in. He is dressed in a bit nicer clothes than he normally wears for just hanging out. The place itself looks huge. "Welcome to my new home."
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown watches as the doors open up. "Somehow I just figured it had to be Penguin having sent me a Tim-like text to trap me," she says with a small grin as she moves into the converted theater. She moves in slowly, the blond turning about to take it all in. "Wow, Tim. When you go, you really go big!" she tells him with a chuckle. "What do you plan on doing with all of the space?" she asks.

Stephanie moves over to greet Tim with a warm hug and a peck on the cheek. "If I'd known you were moving in here I'd have brought a house warming fit," she tells him.
Tim Drake Tim Drake hugs her back, and says "Well, I figured I needed to keep the whole Wayne kid up a bit, make it seem I am taking a bit after Bruce with big and fancy. " He admits He grins and adds ""Plus got rooms for folks if they need a place to crash for some reason, and plenty of space for most anything. Also redoing a theater gave me an excuse for more construction that could be hidden and security for both the above and below ground area. Want a tour?"
Stephanie Brown Stephanie looks around again. "Just ''seem'' like you're taking a bit after Bruce? I think you ''are'' taking a bit after Bruce," she tells Tim. "So that's how you guys go about creating your man-caves," she says as he mentions about the construction.

The lithe blond walks over to join Tim and says, "Tour? Absolutely. And we're walking..." she says, quoting SG1. But no one ever gets that quote. She is ready to fall in step with Tim as he shows her about.
Tim Drake Tim Drake smile and says "Well most of the stuff here is new stuff, some of the pics and such are from home, or the mansion, but I tried to go with some neat things or things that interest me for some specific reason.." He will lead her towards the stairs, and up to the balcony with a few doors leading off it. Those over there are spare bedrooms, I figure never know who might need to crash and for how long. Even have a small apartment style room down stairs in case Alfred needs to crash here. " He motions over towards the main bedroom "That's my bedroom, and yea it is like two or three times, the size of the others." He grins a bit and says "And over there is the library and the collection room. It is maybe the same size as the bedroom.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie walks along, looking at the paintings and the artwork, and the sheer size of the place. "You could probably fit my entire apartment into your bedroom three times over," she comments once they get to the doorway. "So are you going to have to clean the place yourself? Or do you have a maid service you trust?" she asks, looking at the sheer size of the place.

She walks along, poking her head in the library and the collection room. "Wow, that's a lot of room to fill. You know I've never really collected anything before. I had some stamps for awhile, but it was just like, a pile of stamps I thought were cool. I got a book on them but it seemed like the ones people liked had less to do with how they looked and mainly to do with how rare they were, and in what condition. Just not really my thing," she says.
Tim Drake Tim Drake nods his head a bit to this and says "I have collected a few things over the years, but figure the super hero stuff, has the extra benefits. He will show her what he has picked up, a new piece has some craps of Kestrel's costume, and there is a spot reserved for Batgirl 2.0 but nothing is in it yet. He will walk over towards the books and move two books, and push hidden buttons and it will open up with some more personal things. Oddly enough there is a brick set up as an item there.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie pauses the longest to look at some of the items from members of the team. Also any from enemies that she has fought before. "It feels a little different being out there now. Not good or bad, just, different. Before... well it didn't take imagination to notice the sneers I got. Now... well they don't sneer at least. Though it's still not quite like being Batman either. I think Barbara's height probably helped her a lot there," she says. She's almost a half a foot shorter than the red-haired original Batgirl.

Stephanie turns back, moving over to join Tim again. "What's the brick?" she asks him curiously as she stops there to look it over, trying to figure out why it's there.
Tim Drake Tim Drake smiles a bit and says "Go look at it, see if you can figure it out? He will tell her grinning at her. Under the brick she will find two season passes for the Gotham football team, some of the best seats in the stadium, but if she look at the brick she may find it a normal brick, but there is a small date scratched into it. The fist night Tim and Steph met, and on that night, she hit him with a brick that looks an awful lot like this one.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie sees the tickets, but spots the date before she reacts to them. She leans closer to read it and then laughs softly. "Ok, this isn't that brick, right? You just grabbed a brick and put the date on it?" she says. The blond crosses her arms and looks at Tim. "Served you right trying to take my mask off like that. Whatever happened to professional courtesy!?" she exclaims.

Stephanie picks up the tickets. "I'm guessing you didn't just lose these here," she comments, waving them towards him. She brings them over to him.
Tim Drake Tim Drake smirks a bit and says "Happy early birthday." He tells her of the ticket, and says "Nope that is the actual one. When I realized you were something special, I thought it would be neat to have, so I went back to the rooftop, and luckily only one of them had some of my DNA on it." He jokes a bit and while DNA tests might be hard for others, when ya have a bat lab, well a lot easier. "I was trying to keep you out of things back then, did not know if you were the good guy or bad girl back then.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie grins and gives Tim a hug as he makes the tickets a birthday present. "Thank you," she tells him. She looks back at the brick as he indicates it is the very one she clobbered him with six years ago. "Well, I was just trying to get my father stopped, not really planning to go the full vigilante route at first," she says.

Her purses her lips pensively for a moment before pushing from her head whatever thought caused the gesture. "And look at us now," she says. "There's a lot of adjusting I have to go through still, becoming Batgirl. But... wow, it's hard to believe where it all ended up," she says.
Tim Drake Tim Drake smiles and says "Oh it aint ended we still have a ride to go I think. And the tickets are just the start of your bday present. I thought if you did not have plans for the rest of the day we would maybe spend the day together and do what ever you wanted to. Maybe even seeing the new Outsiders HQ.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie smiles at the tickets. "Wow. I've never been to an actual game before. Have only seen them on TV," she says. "Oooo, and they are playing Metropolis too. That should be a great game," the blond girl says.

She flashes a blue-eyed smile over to Tim. "I'm all yours. And I'd love to see the headquarters. How are things going with them?" she asks him as she makes ready to follow Tim through the converted theater again.
Tim Drake Tim Drake says, "We are coming together slowly, I need to get everyone together more. Kid got to meet Cypher the other day while we were working on the Zeta tube. Cassie, and Conner were there the other night." He says as he leads his friend down the stairs. He walks over to the fish tank slides his hand behind it and and touches something saying "Open Seasame." and the wall slides open, and he leads her down into the Robin's Roost. "I have talked to Canary about helping train, and Cassie as well, thought you might be interested in learning some amazon tactics.""
Stephanie Brown Stephanie follows along, glancing around at everything. "Wow. This is such a long way from what I was used to for so many years. Which pretty much amounted to a sewing machine on a card table, and a bucket of supplies from Ace Hardware that I had to keep covered anytime Mom might come around," she says, shaking her head.

She pauses to look at some of the equipment. "I've been trying to learn to make some of the gear. Dick's been helping me with chemistry. Which it turns out, is not a natural calling for me," she says with a forlorn sigh. "But I'm getting better. Managed to make effective flash pellets finally," she says.
Tim Drake Tim Drake nods, a bit to her, and says "Well anything I can do to help you know I am there. I would probably suggest against taking obvious classes that might go in, unless they make sense with your degree, but I can make sure to set you up with a fake id for some online college classes if you want. And you can use the stuff here any time you want to."
Stephanie Brown "I'm kind of behind in picking a major. Though... well I'm sure a class would help me, but then the things I'm making are probably both practical and not really what they would focus on. But, I know, I need to learn it if I'm going to be able to do the kind of investigations you and Bruce do," Stephanie says.

She leans back against a counter as she crosses her arms. "I wanted to thank you again for the job. Really kind of bailed me out. I've been trying my best to be self-sufficient. And... it's been so tough," she says, shaking her head.
Tim Drake Tim Drake shrugs and says "We are family Steph, your one of the most important people in my life. I needed the help and you needed a job so it makes sense. Trust me it took me a bit to be comfortable spending Bruce's money when I finally started doing some serious work for Wayne Tech it helped me feel it, so I can understand what ya mean there.
Stephanie Brown The blond girl keeps her arms crossed about herself, though maybe it's more of a self-hug now though it was before. "Well, you have some right to that though. I mean, he's your son. And me... I'm sitting there thinking how my tuition would be a drop in the bucket to Bruce. But... that's exactly how people behave towards someone like him which... which I just don't want to be, you know? But damn it's hard when you know there's a lifeline out there, to not reach for it," she says.

"You are family, Tim. And I just don't want you to ever feel like I've abused that. It's... you guys just mean to much for me to ever risk losing you," she says. Her eyes look like they are getting a little misty as Stephanie turns away.
Tim Drake Tim Drake walks over and takes her into a hug from behind, and says "Your never going to loose me Steph, you and I we went through a lot of firsts, and a lot of figuring things out together. Plus you and I well, we got something in common. Dick, Jason, Damian, they were all sorta thrust into this life. Barb, you, me, we were the crazy ones who somewhat chose it ourselves." He says holding her, being there for her.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown leans in against Tim. Even after they moved on from romantic moments, he has remained a close friend of hers, and one she knows she can find comfort from. "It means a lot, having you here," she tells him. She hugs him back tight before finally letting him go.

"How did you end up with Bruce? I don't think you've ever told me the story before," Stephanie says. "I mean not now that I know about everyone and Bruce and all. I'm sure there's probably more to the story than I've heard?" she asks.
Tim Drake Tim Drake smiles and will lead her to the lounge area of the roost, and get her and himself something to drink before he starts "Well, I was always a fan of Robin and Batman." He admits. "I saw Dick when I was little while he was still with the circus, and was amazed with him. Well, As I said was fan or them both but Robin being just a few years older than me got my interests. I was able to tell when Jason replaced Dick from their movements, and then when Jason was killed. I saw what it did the Batman. I was looking to talk to the original Robin tell him Batman needed him, and realized the Dick Grayson I had saw in the circus was the original Robin, they moved the same way.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown gapes. "You could tell it was him from how he moved?" she says. "I mean, I don't know if I could have told you it's him now, and I'm getting trained by him," she says, shaking her head. "You all really do take things to a whole new level compared to me."

Stephanie follows into the lounge and will get herself from water. "That would have been nice, to have seen Dick performing like that. You saw his parents then too, I take it? That's nothing something we've talked about very much. I know it was long ago but I was sort of waiting for the right moment to bring it up with him," she says.
Tim Drake Tim Drake nods his head and says "Yea, I think it was around a year before the incident. Well, when I figured out Dick was Robin, and the original Robin left Batman about the same time Dick moved away from Bruce, it did not take a lot to make that leap. I ended up going to Dick to talk to him, telling him I knew, and that Bruce needed him, without Robin, Batman was becoming more violent and meaner. I did not know what had happened to Jason for sure, but knew he was gone. Well dick took me to talk to Bruce, cause once I pointed it out, Dick saw it too. I convinced Bruce that he needed a Robin, that Robin is part of what makes Batman work, that without him, he was heading towards more like the Punisher. He might not cross the line but he would get way to close to it."
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown looks thoughtful as she listens to this. Things she definitely was not aware of, having only really been brought in on the family's secrets in the last year or so. "And so he ended up taking you on? Spotted your intelligence and how observant you are," Stephanie finishes with how she figures it went.

"And what about now? Is Damian being that Robin for him? It seems like he's off on his own more than working together with Batman," she comments softly.
Tim Drake Tim Drake smiles a bit and says "Well not exactly, he said no, I decided to be Robin anyways, and trying to prove myself, I ended up essential to catching Two-Face, so he took me in and started training me. to be honest I think he sorta hoped I would give up and go away and we see how well that worked. " He sighs a bit Damian... well to be honest the dynamic is different there, but Bruce decided it, and as I have watched it I believe it will work out. Where with Dick and myself, we were keeping Bruce up by being bright and chipper, and such. Damian it more Bruce is watching his own level, trying to bring Damian up keep him from the deep dark path. The biggest problem with the Batman-Robin, Bruce-Damian dynamic, is Bruce has to realize and remember that to Damian he is Batman aka Bruce Wayne, and while Batman firing me, or Dick, or Jason hurts, and we may fight with him, when he "fires, disciplines "Damian-Robin, that is it nor just Batman saying Robin my side kick you screwed up get better, it is Bruce saying "Damian my son, you screwed up, I am disapointed in you.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie lets out a soft breath. "Yes, that's an issue I can understand," says the girl with daddy issues of her own. "Well, maybe his serving as Robin isn't the best role then, but like I said he doesn't seem to really be filling that dynamic that I've seen."

Stephanie pushes off the counter she's leaning against, and finishes drinking her water. "The place is great Tim. You've really done some great work here," she says. "And the tickets are awesome. Will you go to the game with me?" she asks.
Tim Drake Tim Drake smiles and says "Of course any time you want me to spend time with you I am there." He will tell her. He stands hugs her and says "Now, how about we go grab some food, and decide what we want to do for the rest of the day." He says as the head back upstairs to head out to finish celebrating her bday a day or two early.
