April O'Neil The podcast studio is a rented out building in Brooklyn. A restored redbrick office building that used to be a legal consultation firm. Now, coverted to serve as a radio show broadcast live on the internet.

April had reached out to Lorna's people some time ago, Magneto's as well... but she'd never heard back from him. The gracious acceptance from Lorna was one well received by April and her small staff here at the studio!

So here they sit now, the appointment made and the day arrived. April sits across the desk from Lorna, microphone equipment between them and her show-manager Vernon Fenwick off tothe side controlling the show's technical side of things.

April herself, wearing a Scooby Doo: Apocalypse teeshirt and blue jeans, sits across from Lorna. When the show goes Live a small intro is rattled off with experience and insight into how many times April has said it prior to this show.

"A Princess, here in studio today." She says with a growing grin across the desk to Lorna then. "Hello there, your highness. Thank you so much for being here! I imagine the audience and listeners would love to know a bit more about you, so... whats the scuttlebutt on all things Lorna Dane? What would you like people to know about you, right off the bat?"
Lorna Dane Lorna had decided that Genosha, and herself as an extension needed better PR, particularly after her father's most recent escapades had involved him threatening the US. She'd accepted the invitation for a podcast, figuring that it would get out better than any manipulated news reel on a bigger production. She'd carefully curated her wardrobe for the event, such as it was. It was a mixture between her more formal Genoshan attire, and a more business casual design. All of which had been reviewed by several Genoshans before she'd even left her suite of rooms.

Her arrival had been down played, a car, as most people took, though carefully unmarked and guarded by a few human passing looking mutants that remained which in the general area.

The green haired princess reclined in her seat, her legs crossed as she sat, an arm draped over the back of the chair. Her hair was carefully pinned into a low style, leaving the bulk of it free to hang down around her shoulders. A gold worked hair piece pulling the sides back and pinning them into place at the back of her head. She wore a pair of black slacks, and a purple silk blouse. A blazer of a deep emerald green topped it all off, the material roughly woven silk, embroidered with florals in sold and silver thread ran up one side. All of her accessories were of a matching theme, shining florals and beads that shimmered around her wrists, and neck.

At April's question, she smiled, "Hello, April. And, oh please, call me Lorna. I'm terrible with the formalities. Right off the bat? Hmm, my favorite book is Wuthering Heights, and strawberries are my favorite food?" She joked lightly, and shrugged.

"But seriously, I'm not sure where to start. I haven't actually done any official interviews before."
April O'Neil April gently twists her chair back and forth as she listens to Lorna respond to her and her first reaction is to simply smile lightly toward the green haired woman across from her. "Well, I try not to classify these as 'interviews' as there's a fairly negative connotation to that word, since for the past... oh... fifty plus years, interviews have oftend been less than five minutes long and there-by offered no real insight into a person or who they really are."

"Where as this." April glances around right to left quickly before placing her sky blue eyes back onto that of Lorna Dane's own. "This is geared a bit more toward a longer form of conversation. So... yeah. In short, we're just here, two people chatting it up. I admittedly haven't had a lot of luck in getting to know you through internet digging. So I'm eager to find out more about you, well, from your own words." The red headed April is now grinning lightly as she folds her forearms together on top of her desk's edge.

"Why don't you start by explaining about about Genosha, your homeland, for those out there may not know much about it. Give'em a rundown, as if you were filling out a wikipedia page for the place." She then flashes Lorna a grin again. "Oh, and hey, if you want a drink, we got a huge selection of beverages there behind you." She points to shelves behind and beside Lorna that are loaded with alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages of all varieties, some of them very rare and expensive gifts brought from other guests.
Lorna Dane Lorna arched a green eyebrow upward, of course, despite the fact that she was a 'known' mutant and public figure, she figured her father and his people had worked hard at limiting the information available to people at large. It was likely better for her ties to the school as well. Still, she considered what April had to say, and shrugged once, "Water is fine, thank you." She murmured, and propped her chin up with a hand in consideration.

"Genosha was historically speaking, a place of great pain and turmoil for people that carry the mutant gene. Be it passively in their DNA or not. The Genoshan at large used my people as slaves for sometime before they were overthrown." She murmured.

"Genosha now stands as the only country in the world that openly supports mutants, and their families. Anti-discrimination laws are the foundations of our society's laws, and those go well beyond what a person's DNA makes them to be." She paused, as if considering her words.

"We've worked very hard to include mutant's families in this way too. Mutants were born from humans after all, and while many mutant's families kick them out or disown them.. There are plenty of families that want to love and support their children. And we work hard to ensure that they feel just as welcomed there too." She offered, glancing toward the camera and back to April.
April O'Neil All of this is regarded with an attentive stare a pretty clear level of interest in what Lorna is saying. April O'Neil is a curious sort've lady, she's an 'information sponge' (as she likes to call herself now and then!). She'll gently nod here and there to Lorna's words before she'll accept a water bottle from off to the side from her show manager and she sets it down within Lorna's reach, its cold and still capped.

"You know, being just a normal human that I am, I've set here this past year and watched the escalation of the Sentinel technologies rise up here within the United States, and abroad for that matter, and I've marveled at the trouble that mutants go through. People look at the extreme cases of mutants who's powers cause public disturbances and they ignore all of the other mutants who're coping with their mutations, if not outright using them for good to help the world. It astounds me that we, as a society, would openly seek to punish those individuals along with the 'bad eggs' amongst the mutant population."

She gently shakes her head side to side then but continues. "So what would you say to the people out there who believe that Genosha is 'too good to be true'? Especially mutants who think there's no way they can get to that seemingly oasis-like location to live their own lives in relative peace?"
Lorna Dane Lorna leaned forward to grab the water bottle, cracking the cap open with a twist of her manicured fingers and taking a sip as April spoke in turn. She recapped it, settling it back onto the end table beside her chair. She shifted, with a creak of the chair beneath her in thought. "What would I say? I'd say come to Genosha yourself if you can. We have open borders for those that want to visit. No visas or passports, no immigration quotas, no grueling application processes. We want mutants and their families to immigrate to Genosha to stay and live. We have immigrants from all over and we welcome everyone that honestly wants to be in Genosha." She smiled, folding her hands a top her knees.

"As far as getting there we are trying to work with countries and businesses to open up transportation services for people that want to come. Including boats, planes, or other means of travel to and from the island." She murmured, glancing from her nails back to April.

"Every citizen in Genosha has a right to free health care, education, and housing. We believe that everyone deserves to have those rights, to be treated as a person first and foremost. It's particularly important given how many immigrants to Genosha are actually refugees without anything besides the clothes on their backs."
April O'Neil April just quietly nods her head to what Lorna says there about her homeland, she lets the Princess' words stand for themselves in fact and raises her hands up to place one against her chin, just holding it gently between thumb and forefinger.

"You know, one of the fears I noticed while reading about your home online was that... well... your father has a very... blunt way of dealing with issues that he disagrees with. Whether it be dropping a subway train on the White House's lawn to open a discussion about a crime that took place inside the subway with the former President of the United States... to, well... a hovering island floating toward the US borders?"

April shows the hints of a grin then. "Some mutants fear moving to Genosha because they worry that your father will inevitably get them into more trouble than they'll end up in if they were to stay here, or... elsewhere in the world, for that matter. What would you say to them on behalf of your father, the current sitting ruler of your home?"
Lorna Dane Lorna exhaled a breath, having expected the question, even if she wished it wouldn't be asked. "It's an honest fear. A great deal of what my father does is rooted in what happened to him a long time ago." She exhaled a breath, and rolled up the sleeve of her blazer in a slow, methodical way. "You see, my father grew up in one of the most progressive democracies of its time. And yet it managed to go sour. He lived through it all, survived Hitler, and the Holocaust. He faced hate the likes of which this world likes to think is a one time thing." She murmured, letting her hands fall back to her lap. Her gaze lifting back to April.

"But for those of you that fear your safety in Genosha, you know that hate already. You face it every day. It kills mutants all over the world, and will continue to do so. The Holocaust, Shoah.. wasn't a one time thing. As history has proven. You're already in trouble, the question is, do you want to stay where you are and live with the devil you know?" She arched a brow.
April O'Neil April allows Lorna to talk to the audience and not so much her. Its a way she allows people on her show to explain themselves how they see fit, while she considers questions that she thinks the audience might want answers for... or she might herself, now and then.

April reaches for her own bottle of water then and after a small sip she caps it again. "So what is the current population of Genosha then, a ballpark figure if you don't have specific numbers. I imagine with open borders like that its a little hard to get specific numbers at all."

She then sets the bottle of water onto the table in front of her and glances down at the tablet computer on her desk before she looks up once more to Lorna. "And how is your social media going these days?" She asks with a grin. "Do you have much of an online presence for people, for fans... or detractors... to leave little messages for you?"
Lorna Dane Lorna smiled, smoothing out the crease on her pant leg as April reached for a bottle of water. Still, the question was interesting, and not one in particular that the green haired woman expected. "Oh, no. We know how many people are on our island. We provide comfortable housing for everyone, so we have to know how many people are on the island to take care of their comfort and needs." She offered softly, and reached for her water to take another sip.

"There are about ten million people on Genosha at the moment. And humans make up about thirty percent of the population." She shifted in her seat. "But we have enough housing and plans to expand as needed. The island is being very carefully planned so as to not lose space or compromise on our ability to protect the natural environment there." She paused in consideration for the last part.

"I don't really have much time for social media these days. Though I wish I did. It feels dishonest to hire someone to run a social media account for me."
April O'Neil April's eyes widen a bit when the population count is given to her. "Wow." She quietly says. "So roughly the same size, people wise, as Manhattan?" She then gently nods her head up and down. "Thats a sizable island, and I'm sure it'll grow rapidly with the open arms style of welcoming more mutants in... but what are you going to do if you bring in the 'bad eggs' that we talked about?" She then asks, her hands then dropping down to the table in front of her.

"If you let in an organized faction of mutants who don't want a Utopian society, but just want to cause mayhem and madness? I know for a fact such people exist, I've had run-ins with such a variety myself, living so close to Mutant Town as I do."

She gently shakes her head right to left then. "I have to assume that Genosha has a pretty amazing police force, if you have trained mutations that can keep such a threat better at-bay? Assuming thats your angle at all for securing Genosha's peace and safety?"
Lorna Dane Lorna lifted up her hands and her jewelry jingled with the movement around her wrists. "About the same size as Manhattan, yes. It's spread out over the whole of the island mind you, with the bulk of people choosing Hammer Bay around the royal palace." She murmured, and smiled in regard to the question that April posed her way.

"I personally find it a fair compromise on our ideals what we do regarding these 'bad eggs' as people call them. We don't try to weed these people out on arrival because circumstances often times breed the need to act in our most base ways. Rather, the hope is that with safety and comfort will help change these people as they join Genosha.. Our focus is more on rehabilitation rather than in any punitive measures when it comes to crime. We have a fairly low crime rate, since much of what exists does so due to poverty, and external factors. But it happens. Get enough people together and it does occur, unfortunately." She murmured softly.

"But we do have a mutant run police force. With procedures for different powers and how best to contain those that simply don't want to enjoy everything Genosha has to offer. But again, it's all aimed at rehabilitation. On the 'why' these people act how they act, with goals of reintegrating them back into society in the best way possible. You won't find people wasting away on death row for years in Genosha for a crime they didn't commit."
April O'Neil Another light nod of her head up and down and April just shows a quick smile that comes and goes. "Its all very fascinating, especially to me, who's essentially an outsider to your nation. I would be the minority there, but I hope I'd be welcomed as I have no hostile feelings toward mutants..." she doesn't linger on that topic though.

So with an inhale she speaks up again. "What would you say to the mutants who don't want to be Genoshans?" She then asks. "The ones who are American and who strictly want to stay American? I've heard some of those aligned-mutants declare... your father... to be overly possessive of the mutant species, as though he believes he 'owns them'. Which I don't really think he feels that way, I get the sense he's just trying to use his wealth of power... and personality, to help them in a world he fears is going to turn on mutantkind some day. Even more than they already have in some areas..."

April then exhales softly. "But is Genosha in support of America changing for the better toward Mutants, or are you simply saying 'Abandon this place and come to our hopefully way better place?'." She tries to phrase the questions in a way that is just simple and easy to digest for all listeners.
Lorna Dane A flash of a smile crossed Lorna's expression and the Princess gestured to April. "Of course you'd be welcome to come to Genosha. Like I said before, humans or anyone for that matter is entirely welcome. It's simply a home for mutants first and foremost, given that many have no home to call their own." She murmured, shifting in her seat. Lorna inhaled a deep breath, folding her arms over her waist as she leaned back in her chair, considering everything that April had to say.

"I get it, I didn't grow up in Genosha. I grew up here in the States. I wasn't always in the position I am now. I had times when I loved my home, I loved my family, and friends here. That love didn't vanish.." She paused again, tilting her head as she leaned forward and settled her hands against her thighs.

"But I quickly realized that as my powers came into play, and I got older that my home didn't love me the same way as it did others. The US isn't build for mutants, it never will be. Even as I hope that some day life will get better for mutants everywhere, that people will accept each other as they should.. I realize that will likely never happen in my life time." She pursed her lips and took a moment to collect her thoughts and reach for her water bottle.

"I mean, people here in America think I shouldn't be alive or exist because I'm Jewish. Never mind that I'm a mutant. This country has roots born out of blood and death, and has grown so much since it's beginnings. I can only hope that it continues to do so, for everyone. I would be heavily in support for all countries to embrace that. But until then, Genosha exists, to be a home for those that don't have one. To be a place where you can just be you and not be ashamed for it. That's my biggest point of pride in Genosha. That no matter who you are, where you come from, or what you look like. You have a home in Genosha if you want it. If you don't want to come to Genosha, I respect it, and I understand it.. Even if I wish it were otherwise."
April O'Neil April's right hand reaches up to adjust the microphone that is hanging in front of her face at a fair distance to be 'just right'. "So you are natural born here in the United States, but through the work your father's done you're now the heir to a new government and a new nation. That has to be a lot to wrap your head around. My dad gave the keys to his car once when I was... probably eleven and let me drive around in closed-down SEARS parking lot. I nearly sweat through the driver's seat while looking over the steering wheel."

A big grin is shown then. "So how does it... feel to know that you're going to have this, dream, of your father's on your shoulders solely someday when nature does as it does, and looks to you to lead after him?" She then asks of the Princess. "I don't know for certain, but I'm guessing you weren't raised preparing for this kind of political position in life, are you... I don't know, tasking courses online or something...?" April then has to release a light laugh at her own ignorance.

"You know its every little girl's dream to get to be a pretty pretty princess, but that has seemingly come to pass for you. Is this something you feel you're ready for, when it comes to all the things about it that a little girl doesn't realize comes with the role?"
Lorna Dane Lorna smiled and inclined her head at April's summation of her circumstances. "More or less, it's been a whirlwind. Prior to going to Genosha and working extensively within the government and with the people there.. I had dreams of getting a PhD in physics. Those dreams are a bit a ways off now, but I don't resent having to give them up. Not for Genosha." She settled back more firmly in her seat again, her shoulders rolling back.

"I've tried to study more intently on political science, economics, and other relevant courses. Etiquette is a rather big one that I've struggled with a great deal. Particularly in more formal settings. Genosha has no established traditions, and as its populace comes from all over, I have to be careful not to insult my people by accident." She exhaled a breath, tucking a piece of green hair back behind her ears.

"As far as feeling ready, I don't know if anyone is ever ready for the death of a parent and the responsibilities that come afterward. Mine might be a tad more involved, but it's something that unites everyone. I've spent a lot of time reading books, particularly those written by historical monarchs and world leaders. No one exactly has a trial run of these things. Not a President or Prime Minister has exactly had that benefit. So in a way I'm exceedingly lucky to be where I am now. Even if I feel that I'll never truly be ready."
April O'Neil April just grins at that first part about Lorna's desire to get a PhD. "Doctor Princess, or Princess Doctor?" She then asks with an intent of being lighthearted and silly. "Stop it, lady, you're makin' the rest've us look bad." April then laughs softly before she just shakes her head of that and lets herself listen to the rest of what the green haired woman across from her has to say.

"You know, after hearing you talk, I'm more impressed than I admittedly expected?" She then boldly says. "When I'd heard that the... arguably infamous... 'Magneto' had a daughter who was now the heir to his self-made throne, I had these visions of you being... different? Like it would've surely all gone to your head, but now hearing you talk?" She then shakes her head left and right once. "I don't know, I get the initial impression that you're going to do just fine with all of this. You seem to have wits and smarts about you, I guess I'm saying. So I'm eager to see how this... radical new society works out. I'd love to visit some time too, I saw the pics online, those beaches are phenomenal. I wouldn't mind loungin' out on them for a day or year."

Another light grin comes from April then before she exhales softly. "So what about what you do here in the United States, since it is your home of origin and based on everything I can tell you're here pretty often. What does Lorna Dane do while here in the whack-a-doo fifty states of union?"
Lorna Dane Lorna smiled and even laughed at April's comment that she was making others look bad. "Sorry, I haven't even mentioned my plans for a children's hospital and how I want to integrate mutant powers into revolutionizing the medical field. It will be named for my mother, Suzanna." She only half joked, and she continued to grin as she sat back in her seat and reached for her bottle of water again.

"Anyways, if you want to come to Genosha, you should. Bring a surfboard, relax on our beaches. I think there's at least one tourism commission that wants to work on improving the number of hotels available to people. Everything has to be carefully built not to erode those beaches though, it wouldn't be worth it otherwise if we could preserve it all for the future." She added, and glanced back to April. "We have some fantastic concerts and shows too going on almost every night if that's your scene too." She arched a brow at the last question and she shrugged easily.

"Mostly business. I keep trying to help promote projects in Mutant Town and local out reaches for charities. I really want to branch out Genosha's support and help establish a global network to help people. Genosha has resources that we're lucky to have, and it's important to share them. I try to remember to get out for some milkshakes from time to time though."
April O'Neil Naturally April has a lot of witty and arguably nerdy responses to this, its her personality to make little jokes that entertain mostly herself! Though she does have a pretty sizable viewership, and a lot of them are audio-only listners, so it can't all be her dazzling good looks!

All the same, many more subjects come up, but the bulk of the show is less about world politics and more about personal believes on subjects going on in the world today, and even some about favorite movies, music and other entertainment forms!
